Draculaura about to steal some hearts at the Monster Ball 💔💅💋

Okay so I am back with drawing new Draculaura Doll Idea Designs. This one was actually kinda fun.

It was based on the leaked description of the Monster Ball Dolls. Kinda vague but it left plenty of room for interpretation and creative choices in terms of the look.

Since this is a ball/ prom, I gave her a knee-length dress, close in vibe to her original Sweet 1600 look with a more G3 twist such as incorporating an overlaying corset element with side lacing for dramatic effect, made of pink leather of course. Her hair bow is made of a similar pleather fabric with bat wing accents, while her purse would be a quilted satin purse with fun key chain elements, plastic and metal if I were to be the one to have a say in manufacturing her (which if I worked at Mattel I probably wouldn't🤣)

As per Monster High tradition I would pull all the stops with her platforms. Bows, bat wings and obviously hearts, with different coloured soles and heart shaped cut outs in the platforms themselves, I wanted to create a pair of shoes as fabulous as all the shoes I have drooled over in the past as part of the Monster High Line.

I am currently tempted to do a doll based on Clawdeen's description as well, but for now enjoy a glimpse at my personal take on my favorite ghoul, Draculaura herself.

Creating paper doll looks for the Ghould squad is proving to he funner than previously anticipated🤔

Should I just make the rest of them too?

Generation Three Abbey Bominable!!! I absolutely ADORE her, and her doll is so incredible. I love her holo details on her pants and how long her hair is. For a solid 30 minutes after I got her, I just sat on the couch running my fingers through her hair. She's so gorgeous and I'm 100% buying whatever dolls come out of her in the future!

So after entire millenias the queen of the Nile finally graced us with her presence 🪲

This took longer than anticipated, but life got in the way. With Easter and a mini burnout I had it came harder to me to finish this illustration, but here it is.

Cleo de Nile was so fun to do. I wanted to go for an elegant breezy vibe with a dash of y2k mixed in there for good measure, while also keeping some of the opulance and elegance associated with the Cleo's status.

Also, can we take a moment to gush about what is happening at Mattel??? Revolution is upon the fandom. Specifically Clankie!!!

When the episode description leaked and I first caught wind of Frankie gathering their courage to ask Cleo to prom, I was like... They won't do it, right? They are gonna push the best gal pals angle.

But then the horrorscope episode dropped, then the bottling your feelings one, and let's not forget about the heart of Frankie episode.

And this? There is no heterosexual explication for this!!!

Or this!!!💕✨

I am not gonna get my hopes up 'cause it's Mattel we're talking about. The same people who during generation one said it wasn't the right time for queer rep. But the signs are there. If the episodes and art inside Cleo's locker are anything to go by, the odds look like they are in our favour this time around 💛💖💙

her name is Alyssa and her favorite outfit is the little [insert museum era here] dress her single, gay-coded aunt made her for living history events. the dress has wild inaccuracies and is made of quilting cotton, natch, but she loves it anyway

in the Learns a Lesson book, she discovers that the town's favorite historical Girlboss used child labor in her economy-revitalizing Widget Factory and has to decide whether she'll speak up about this at The Big Heritage Festival even though people wouldn't like it. she does, obviously

this would do numbers with female historians, archivists, museum professionals, etc. who got their start reading AG books and/or playing with the dolls (back when they didn't suck) and who now have kids
