Mallory (Male Vampire) x Anonymous Reader (Sfw)
(I am not sure when I will go back to this story as I am working on comicking stuff. . . <:) But I will share a piece of it here, the most solid bit of writing I have for it! A new house with a surprise resident, a shy vampire who just wants a peaceful life.)
It was an old Victorian style house. Tall and proud with long curving windows. The building had two layers with an asymmetrical design. The right side of the home bowed outward in a semi hexagonal shape. While the right side held a modest porch and wooden railings that ran around the space and flanked either side of the steps. Wooden gingerbread styling encrusted the bottom of the roof. It was a lonesome house, one surrounded by trees and that sat atop a hill with a twisting road. Through the forest of leaves, when they parted just right. It gave a wide scope of the ground below. There was a small town that sat nestled at the edge of the forest. From this vantage point, you could barely see the bumpy dirt road nestled between the brilliant fire red and yellow leaves.
It was a sunny day, some of the last warmth in October had come in a wave. Like the last expelling of warm breathe before cold nestled into the bones of the earth.
You had gotten out of your car, feet swinging from the vehicle to stand and look out over the treeline. The view alone was entrancing. Watching leaves tumble and twist through the air. Following an unknown path to an unknown destination. You heard a voice call your name, and with some reluctance you turned away from the picturesque view. Closing the door to your car with a satisfying snap before you turn and set your sights on the house. Your eyes travel along its details. It had been painted in black trim and the base a pale mint green that had faded with time. The paint was peeling in places, but it offered promise. A smile tugged at the corners of your mouth as you walked up the driveway, A nicely dressed woman in a navy suit was standing in front of the aging porch steps.
“Welcome to Wishwillow! I am so glad we had the chance to meet. I'm Loiuse, we spoke on the phone last week.” She gave a smile of perfect white teeth as she gave your hand an exuberant shake. She had walked towards you, closing the last of the distance.
“Hi Loiuse.” You reply, “I am really happy to take a look at the house." You pause to glance up at it's high windows. "it’s beautiful.”
“It really is, and we are so happy to finally have someone show interest in this old place. It’s almost one hundred years old, did you know? There is a lot of history here.”
You nod, bringing your attention from the house as she claps her hands.
“Well! Let’s take a tour shall we?” She turns on her heels, a confident stride has her dark curls bouncing as you follow her dutifully up the steps.
“Is there. . . a lot of need for renovations? Adding fixtures, things like that?” You ask tentatively as she produces a small key from her pocket and begins to jiggle the lock.
“Oh goodness no! The last person who lived here modernized it the best she could while staying true to the house's heritage.”
The door opened with a creaky wail, and you scrunch your nose at the sound.
“How long. . . ago was that?”
“Twenty years or so,” She chirped, stepping inside and flicking on the lights.
You grimace at that, “That sounds like a long time for a house to be empty.”
She flashes you a knowing smile, “We worked very hard to keep it maintained, Ms. Hemlock, that last owner of Wishwillow, had no heirs in her will. She put whatever money she had left into keeping this house in working condition.”
Past the entrance was a thin hallway that branched off into different rooms. A big parlor to the left with polished wood floors. A few coils of wire came down like tendrils from the ceiling. You gathered that at some point a chandelier had hung down from the ceiling.
"The kitchen is down the hall," Loiuse explains, patiently letting your gaze wander the interior.
"And the left is where the parlor was. There is a small sitting room by the kitchen, and upstairs are the bedrooms."
There was something that felt right, about this house. Something that lingered in the air.
You catch the woman's cheer as you head back to the car. Giving the sales rep. your thanks and one last handshake.
“Yes, Ms. Louise, we will definitely keep in touch.”
It was the most nerve wracking decision you had ever made. Taking the leap and buying this house. With the economy being how it was now, and homes becoming more and more impossible to buy. You had stumbled upon a chance you weren’t sure if you were going to be able to come across again.
You had moved as much of your personal life as you could. Only finally getting the help from movers once it was clear you were not going to be able to cart a few large choice pieces of furniture on your own.
“I’m doing great,” You leaned back on the couch, that sat in the middle of the sea of cardboard boxes, phone pressed to your ear. “Totally exhausted though, I tried to hurry up and move everything so I didn’t have to take too much time off of work. It’s a bit of a drive now, but the view is worth it. It’s so beautiful here.”
You laugh, a tired weary sound. “I keep wondering if I made the right choice, it’s a big house for one person— No, no! I’m not complaining, just fretting. I think I am going to start on dinner now though, talk with you later?”
You nodded, even though the loved one on the other side of the line couldn’t see you. Listening intently to the voice on the end of the phone.
“I will take care of myself, I promise. Okay. Love you. Bye.”
You threw your head back onto the cushioned armrest of the couch, tapping the red button on your cell phone and turning off it’s screen. You heaved a heavy sigh and glanced out at the sea of cardboard.
First step of moving in, done and done. Now all that is left is unpacking. The thought of unpacking so late at night was quickly rejected. The cushioned armrest was stationed to the couch via rounded metal pins, and you reached over to rub your thumb against the cool metal bumps while you stared out at the room. With enough oomph you pushed yourself to stand, picking your way out of the living room to reach the kitchen.
You stood in the cramped kitchen space. Staring blankly for a moment while you realized how much of an ordeal it would be to dig out pots and pans, on top of cooking.
". . . You know what. . . I think I'll just order take out tonight."
With a quick call to the closest pizza shop, you had pushed boxes off the small coffee table and set up a laptop computer while you waited for dinner.
Now, with the pizza sitting next to your computer, you sat cross legged on the couch. Balancing a plate on their thighs while you watch a movie. You had picked something from your old favorite collection. A black and white movie that you remember fondly from your childhood. A comedy movie starring Abbott and Costello that contained a number of the classical monsters being portrayed by their original actors.
Something had changed. Something or someone was here, in the house. Within the walls. A steady heartbeat with silent ghostly vibrations echoed through the beams and floorboards.
Mallory’s eyes snapped open, and he sat up quickly. The dreams about noises hadn’t been imaginary phantoms. The cars, the voices, things being shuffled, moved about, it had been real. Now the house was quieter, though, there was still noise. A static noise that lingered behind the voices in an old televised movie. With accents that haven’t been used in a long time.
“I know it, and you know it. But does Dracula know it?"
Underneath the sounds, was the beat. He slowly rubs at his temples, trying to soothe the ringing in his head. Like a mosquito that hummed right beside your ear, the sound was impossible to ignore.
Th-thud
Th-thud
The attic stairs creaking faintly under his shoes as he descends, grimacing at the noise. From the attic stairs he moves to the window, peers down at the dark lawn below.
An uncomfortable feeling settling into his stomach, as the for sale sign was gone. Now there was a car parked in the driveway, and someone unknown downstairs. For twenty years no one had held even the remotest interest on the house atop the hill. But alas, it had been wishful thinking to believe that it would last forever.
He hesitates about what to do. An unsteady hand tinkering with the necklace around his collarbone before he gingerly steps out of the guest room. One glance. Just one. It has been a while since he had come face to face with a living being. Once satisfied he could formulate a plan from there. He moved on the stairs gingerly, hovering in the entryway where the kitchen split into the kitchen and living room.
And there they were, sitting and watching a movie. A blanket curling around their shoulders. A tired but amused expression played upon their lips, as they watched a short bumbling figure almost collide with the tall imposing figure of Bella Lugosi.
The back of his chilly hand presses against his lips as he backs away from the scene.
Then the person watching the movie shifts, their head turns, looking up, their eyes widening as Mallory moves out of sight.

On 16th December 1911 the Fraserburgh born businessman Businessman Thomas Blake Glover died in Tokyo.
Glover San is just one of the names the Maverick Aberdonian entrepreneur Thomas Blake Glover helped forge modern Japan yet remains little known in his homeland.
In Japan, the greatness of Fraserburgh’s most famous son – ‘GurAba San’ as he is also known there – has long been taken as read.
His physical legacy is evident in Glover Gardens in Nagasaki, one of Japan’s few nineteenth century heritage sites, which attracts two million visitors a year (almost twice as many as Edinburgh Castle).
Just as tellingly, sepia photos of his whiskered face are a staple of Japanese advertising campaigns, most for Kirin Beer, and more recently whisky, produced by an industrial conglomerate that he helped to found.
Glover has spawned two biographies, plus a fictional life story by leading Scots writer Alan Spence. An aborted feature film of his life was due to have starred Sean Connery.
For the first six years of his life Glover lived at number 15 Commerce Street in Fraserburgh. His father was the chief coastguard in Fraserburgh, he was English and his mother was A Scot from Fordyce, Banffshire. His father was formerly an Officer in the Royal Navy. Thomas Blake Glover had 6 brothers and a sister. The house no longer remains because it was destroyed after a bombing by the German Luftwaffe Air Force during World War 2.
In 1851 the family moved to a Victorian Home in Bridge of Don in Aberdeen. Upon leaving school Thomas Blake Glover started work for a trading company and was soon travelling the World, becoming a successful trader in weapons and ships. His travels took him to Japan with one of his brothers when they both worked for the tea merchant Jardine, Matheson & Co. during the late 1850s and early 1860s.
During his time in Japan Thomas Glover achieved a great deal. He helped the Samurai to overthrow their military leader, the Shogun. This action helped to restore The Emperor to his throne. This earned Glover the nicknames The Broch Samurai and The Scottish Samurai.
Thomas Glover was also a key part in the industrialisation of Japan. After commissioning three warships to be built at Aberdeen shipyards (including the Jho Sho Maru which was their first iron-clad warship) for the Japanese Navy he formed his own shipbuilding company. This developed into the company Mitsubishi after his bankruptcy in 1870. He remained in the company as a Consultant. He also introduced the first trains to Japan and the first mechanised coal mine. He owned the Takashima Coal Mine and helped found the Kirin Beer Company.
Along with other foreign residents they built and funded the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral at the Minami Yamate hillside in 1862.
While living in Nagasaki in 1863 he built a house on the Minami Yamate hillside which overlooks Nagasaki Harbour. This still remains as the oldest Western style building in Japan. Over 2 million people visit the park it is set in it each year.
Plans were announced a few years ago, for the Aberdeen family home of the Glovers to be turned into a £2m research hub, if this happens it could turn Aberdeen into a mecca for curious Japanese visitors, it sad to say that this has not materialised and the house, which has lay unoccupied for several years is left neglected and in a state of disrepair.

The Man With the Scarred Neck: Official Teaser
the most disturbing creepypasta ever written
Killian Lynch character reference
Tumblr media
Synopsis:
Unlikable, lazy and chronically unemployed, 32 year old Jim Lynch is a notorious scum bag. His moral code lacks so much, it may as well set the bar underground.
"Nothing good comes from your father's side of the family."
Only days before Jim and his merely 16 year old girlfriend, Jenny, will be evicted from the delapted apartment they reside in, a miracle is bestowed upon Jim. At least, that was what he thought when he first discovered his grandmother's will was left at his doorstep by an unknown person. The only clue Jim and Jenny get about the stranger is the two standing on the balcony, watching a black muscle car peel out of the apartment lot.
Jim opens the envelope to find the will is from Elaine Lynch, his father's mother, whom he'd never met. Too distracted by the fortune and old Victorian home in Boston that has been passed along to him, Jim doesn't think anything of the odd predicament of how the will came to be.
Wasting no time, Jim heads over to the house, now in his name, after dropping Jenny off at high school. Now with a small fortune and beautiful home, Jim believes he's been blessed and set for life.
Only things aren't at all what they seem. At all.
Unable to help himself upon seeing his grandmother's diary placed on the living room coffee table, Jim sits down to read it in hopes of learning of his heritage. Nothing could have prepared Jim as the entries spiral from a love story to a tale of unimaginable horror, over the course of a few months.
After reading a particularly sickening entry, Jim decides he's found out enough. Now horrified by his roots to his grandfather, who's none other than the urban legend of a demon, referred to as The Man With The Scarred Neck.
Jim bolts for the door, only for the hallway to begin to rotate like a fun house tunnel…right as the front door is bashed in.
"I'm back… remember me, bitch?"
Tumblr media
"Now…scream."
Face to face with his demon of a grandfather, Killian Lynch, Jim is faced to not only confort a monster, but one all to similar to himself. The assault that follows, courtesy of Killian, sinks to a level of unpredictable depravity.
Tumblr media
CLACK! CLACK! CLACK!
•coming June 11, 2023•
•Rated NC-17•
(NOTE: Jim is not supposed to be likable, his relationship with Jenny is deplorable and even Killian is disgusted by it)

⚔ ⸻ ( jon bernthal → cis man → he / him / his ) / / * seems like james malatesta , crossed the city limits into rome : you know , the forty-seven / 47 year old nephilim / shadowhunter , who is reputed to be + focused and +diligent , but is avoided when they are -cold and -detached . rumor has it that has been heard saying ❝ i forgot softness. softness did not serve me. ❞ . that would explain why they do not care for the mortal instruments . *
Name. James Malatesta. Nicknames. None. Please do NOT call him Jim or Jimmy or any variant of James. Age. Forty7. Sexuality. Heterosexual. Date of Birth. November 8. Place of Birth. Rome, Italy. Gender. Cis Man. Pronouns. He, him, his. Current Location. Rome, Italy. Languages. English, Italian, Enochian. Zodiac. Scorpio. Bad Habits. Chews his lips and cheek out of boredom. Puts his feet on furniture. "Manspreads" on furniture. Hobbies. Reads extensively. Fears. Being alone. Other Mentionable Details. James has hidden his true nature as a Nephilim for as long as he's been aware of it. His mother used runes to hide it prior to that, obviously aware of her copulation with an angel. James is aware he will likely outlive most of his friends or loved ones, and this is partially why he keeps people at an arm's length, despite his fear of being alone. He often avoids churches and jokes that he'll burst into flames if he walks into one. Faceclaim. Jon Bernthal. Height. 5'11''. Hair Color. Dark brown. Eye Color. Dark brown to honey, in some light. Turns gold when angry or threatened. Notable features. Imposing stature, 14x broken nose (he never learns), nearly permanent scowl but incredible smile when he lets himself. Parents Names. Cosima Malatesta (mother) and Umbriel (father). Siblings. None. Pets. None. Income. He inherited the Malatesta estate upon his mother's passing. Residence. Malatesta Estate - an old Victorian-style manor that's been in his family for generations.
Cosima Malatesta was always a lonely woman. Devout in her beliefs and descended from a well-known Shadowhunter bloodline, Cosima inherited her mother's beauty and her father's talents and devoted herself to the Clave. By all accounts and standards she was the ideal image of a Shadowhunter; following each law to the letter and spending most of her time in the field wherever it was deemed necessary. Up until her death, and following her to the afterlife, she was revered as a great woman and an attribute to the Clave, and the Rome Institute later as a researcher.
Her encounter with Umbriel is wholly unknown.
None would suspect that such a law-abiding Shadowhunter would dream to break one of the most sacred of rules, but the conception of James would surely tarnish the Malatesta name and reputation.
47 years ago, under circumstances even he is unsure of, James was conceived from the union of Angel and Mortal.
Raised as a Shadowhunter, James was spirited away to New York under the claim of a change of pace shortly after his birth and Cosima dedicated her skills and knowledge to the Institute in the City. He was raised with no knowledge of his heritage until he approached puberty, and only then did his mother bind him in a runic promise not to share the tale of his birth - lest he live a life damned by the very people he was raised among.
When Cosima was called back to Rome she left her son with tears in her eyes and a kiss planted to his forehead, another promise that sh would see him again soon.
She passed when James was 20. Something he was heartbroken for. Mother's are all boy's first loves, after all.
It was in the New York Institute that he met and bonded with Jordan Shadowheart. Their mutual love for mischief had them drawing a close friendship - something James considered a brotherhood, which eventually led to their binding as parabatai. For years he worked with his closest friend and ally (he'd consider these golden years, if asked) unaware that the severance of this bond would come in their twenties.
It was sudden, painful, and not at all understood. James nearly overturned the Rome Institute in his rage and pain - a loss that had him severing his emotional ties to those he had been raised around. Without a mother to love him, without his closest friend and bond to share in the world with, it simply felt easier to allow himself to numb out entirely.
Time wore on. He withdrew further, lending his expertise and anger into assignments that took him all across the world. Learned and experienced, by the time he returned to his family's estate in his mid-thirties to semi-permanently settle he had been approached at least once to rise to the rank of Inquisitor. At least once every few years he'd been asked and each time James denied the responsibility. It hardly seemed worth it to invest in a people that would sooner damn and destroy him for his existence than accept him as one of their own... as he'd always been.
So it's gone: years without knowing Jordan is still alive in the world albeit as a a Downworlder James has hunted the kind of all his life. years without allowing himself the pleasure of another connection for understanding that it simply doesn't matter... he'll outlive them anyway, years of runes burned into scars over actual scars on his body shone silver under noontime sun. Years of loneliness building walls so high he simply doesn't recall how to connect on a meaningful level to anyone else.
Years in self-appointed solitary confinement. Punishment for daring to love, to exist.
A promise kept to a Mother adored and missed. A secret safe.
WANTED CONNECTIONS:
Dalliances - While James is remiss to form emotional bonds he is a man like any other, weak to the physical needs one might find themselves in service to. He's a known name in Rome, has been for many years (between his family's lineage and his own whispers) and has garnered something of a reputation for being good for a one night stand. He's not beholden to the laws of the Clave and has happily dabbled with Downworlders if it meant mutual satisfaction in the end.
Comrades - A repeat Shadowhunter he's been sent on assignments with now and again. They know about his embittered attitude, seeming disregard for his own safety, and ultimately callous methods when deployed to a task. They might be considered friends of James were the kind to use those terms. Either way, his bristled personality doesn't bother them and they work well together, even.
Old Friends - They knew James back in New York, or when he first came back to Rome with Jordan. They remember what he was capable of in the realm of pranks and mischief, of chaos that used to light his eyes in puckish light. Still, they try to bring out that flame they know is stuck deep in him somewhere, buried in thorns and acrimony. They've even gotten him to sincerely laugh a few times, and maybe show up to his family's estate to ensure he doesn't become a complete shut-in outside of assignments. He really appreciates them, but he'd never let them know it. They keep him from being entirely alone.
Someone who knows Jordan is alive - And has for a while. Maybe they saw Jordan, maybe they just found out. Maybe they interact with him often. For whatever reason they've kept this to themselves for however long and now they're going to share the news with James. He should be happy his old soul-bond is actually alive, right?

November 15th 1873 saw the Statue to Greyfriar’s Bobby unveiled.
If there is a more famous statue to a dog in the world it would surprise me,  the commonly accepted story tells us that Bobby was a Skye Terrier dog belonging to a Jock Gray, a farmer from the Pentland Hills, who regularly dined at an inn in Grassmarket, not far from Greyfriars's  Churchyard.
When Jock Gray, died in 1858, the dog refused to leave his master’s grave. He turned up regularly for 14 years at the inn at Grassmarket which had been frequented by his master and was fed there by locals who were taken by the dog’s devotion. The story may have been embellished by John Traill, the owner of the restaurant.
Other versions suggest that the dog belonged to a local policeman and that while the dog was frequently found in the churchyard, it was also looked after by residents in the houses in nearby Candlemaker’s Row, including Colour Sergeant Donald MacNab Scott, serving in the Royal Engineers Survey Company and Royal Artillery priming the 1 o’clock time gun.
Greyfriar’s Bobby died on 14th January 1872, but within a year he was immortalised when Greyfriars Bobby Fountain was born.
As heiress to her grandfather's £1.8 million fortune (equivalent to over £170m in 2022), Lady Burdett-Coutts was one of the wealthiest women in Victorian Britain, and, as President of the Ladies Committee of the RSPCA, a lover of animals. So charmed was she by the story of Bobby's affection, Lady Burdett-Coutts, who was well-known for her acts of philanthropy, wrote to Edinburgh's town council to request permission for a memorial to be erected.
Lady Burdett-Coutts' publicly undisclosed offer was gratefully received. The lifelike statue was duly commissioned and sculpted by the artist William Brodie.
The statue itself was placed on a seven-foot-high memorial plinth and drinking fountain (designed to accommodate people and dogs) of Peterhead granite. On the upper column, two reliefs were made, one depicting the coat of arms of the Baroness, and the other for the City of Edinburgh.
A large crowd assembled to watch the unveiling of Greyfriars Bobby's monument on this day in 1873.
The red granite fountain offered drinking water to humans using stone drinking cups attached by chains until 1975. Dogs drank from an octagonal trough at ground level.
A plaque on the base reads A tribute / to the affectionate fidelity of / Greyfriars Bobby. / In 1858, this faithful dog followed / the remains of his master to Greyfriars Churchyard and lingered near the spot / until his death in 1872. / With permission / erected by the / Baroness Burdett-Coutts.
The monument was listed a Category A historic building on 29 April 1977 and is Edinburgh’s smallest listed building.
When the fountain was first erected a gas street light stood behind the statue, and during the conversion to electricity of the city’s lights, the lamp was removed. It has now been duplicated using historic photographs and salvaged lamp columns with the assistance of a grant from Edinburgh World Heritage.
A stones-throw from the statuer  is Greyfriar Bobby’s Bar, previously known as Traill’s Restaurant. A plaque on the wall states: Greyfriars / “Bobby” / was fed here / from / 1858 to 1872.
Tumblr media
A recent custom of rubbing Bobby’s nose for luck removed the black finish and exposed the underlying brass. On 1st October 2013, Powderhall Bronze, a sculpture conservation and restoration specialist, was hired to clean, wax and re-patinate Bobby’s nose, but idiots still rub the nose and it looks, in my opinion terrible now.
Tumblr media
148 years later, Bobby's monument and the legend that charmed a wealthy English baroness into paying for it, endure. And in my opinion  if this generous Victorian philanthropist hadn’t come forward with this offer we not have seen a statue being erected, Edinburgh Council would certainly not have paid for such a frivolous thing!
Pics are from through the years, the one with Bobby being carried by the polisman is from 1955 when he knocked off his pedastal after a car crashed into it.  Pic three is Walt Disney, not touching Bobby’s nose in 1960, and four is Hollywood star Jack Palance, not touching Bobby’s nose, from a 1982 documentary  Ripley's Believe It or Not! The wee clip can be seen at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjSkBhCVb3M
