Five years ago, Emma's father had given her a necklace for her birthday. It was a beautiful ruby encased in a golden chain, that sat heavy on her chest. It was safe to say then, that Emma was more than a little bit pissed off to discover that it had been stolen from right around her neck. The one stroke of luck to the whole ordeal was that she knew exactly who had taken it. Killian Jones. rated E | 6267 words

OK, the idea of a soulmate au where you can't look anyone but your soulmate directly in the eyes was not done with me yet.
Leverage version:
Sophie knows all the tricks for faking full eye contact. For a third-party observer, it's nigh-impossible to tell that she's not quite achieving direct eye contact short of using cameras with very good eye-tracking software. Trying to fool a mark into thinking she's their soulmate via “eye contact” is tougher, but on a mark who hasn't met their own soulmate (and thus has never experienced true full eye contact), Sophie still has a pretty good success rate. Every member of the team has been drafted as her fake soulmate on a con at least once. Or, at least, Sophie has tried. Parker failed to pick up on any of the hints Sophie was able to drop without blowing their cover, so Sophie had to switch tactics. Hardison tried valiantly to hold the near-eye-contact, and they pulled off the job, but he was struggling and his resulting nervous blather did not help the illusion at all. Eliot picked up her cues and pulled off the illusion flawlessly… and hated every second of it. The first time they faked prolonged eye contact, he ducked away to Nate's bathroom the second they got in the door, and Sophie (slightly insulted) wondered if he was going to throw up. He didn't, just practically boiled his skin off in the hottest shower he could stand. Nate is by far Sophie's most frequent “soulmate” on the job… None of the rest of the team are entirely sure whether the eye contact is fake or not, and neither Nate nor Sophie is telling.
Parker has never had any interest in making eye contact, and was genuinely unaware that this was a serious thing people actually believe in. (Sure, people talk about finding their “soulmate” through eye contact, but people also talk about summoning Bloody Mary through the bathroom mirror. That doesn't mean it's real.) The first time she looked directly into Hardison's eyes was both accidental and jarring. She averted her eyes and assumed they would never mention this uncomfortable situation again. She was not expecting Hardison to suddenly want to have an intense, excited conversation that was clearly loaded with some meaning she wasn't picking up on, and she definitely wasn't expecting him to do so while trying to eagerly stare into her eyeballs. When Eliot happened to walk in, she latched onto him like a spooked cat, demanding he do something about Hardison; there was something wrong with him, like he's possessed or something; make him stop!
Eliot has habitually avoided even the possibility of eye contact with anyone since he was in high school. (He certainly wasn't trying to lock eyes with people even before that, but, well, he and Aimee had tried once, back when they were young and naive and thought maybe they were meant to be. They weren't.) In his line of work… it was better not to know. There was just no way that would end well. He doesn't have anything against other people finding their soulmates, though. Really. So he's not quite sure why there's such a bite to his words when he snaps at Hardison to knock it off—that “soulmates” is no excuse for trying to look someone in the eye when they don't like it. But he's sure he can feel a headache forming as he's stuck between Parker's “'Soulmates'! Ha! …Oh, come on. You're kidding, right? That's not real” from one side and Hardison's horrified “Oh my god, I'm sorry! Parker, I am so, so sorry—I was just so excited, you know? I didn't realize—” start of what was clearly going to be a long and heartfelt apology on the other.
Hardison thinks soulmates are very romantic, and he's always hoped, you know? He tries not to talk too openly about it—dreaming of finding your soulmate was deemed “girly” and “wussy” by the popular boys at his high school, and he had more than enough targets on his back for bullying as a kid without drawing attention this one. He's always kind of thought he'd probably never find his, if he even had one. He did so much of his socializing with like-minded people online, and you can't make eye contact—not real eye contact—over a webcam. There have been some near misses that made his heart flip (Hell, back during that first Dubenich job, when Eliot had taken out all the Pierson guards and then given him that smug little smirk, for an instant—just for an instant—Hardison had almost thought their eyes met directly. He must have imagined it, too caught up in the incredibly sexy and unexpected display of competence on display in front of him to avoid a split second of daydreaming about what it would feel like to look straight into those incredibly blue eyes. Anyway, it had never happened again, and after working together for so long, they surely would have looked each other in the eyes by now if it were possible.), but no dice. Until now. Parker, though… Even while apologizing (he should have realized to be more careful with Parker), Hardison could barely keep the absolutely giddy smile off his face. There had been no mistaking that, and god when people talked about “getting lost” in their soulmate's eyes… Wow, they weren't kidding!
Nate will expound at length about how the concept of “soulmates” and consequently the act of making eye contact have been exploited and commercialized for all of recorded history, the absence of any scientific evidence that the rare ability to make eye contact with another person actually correlates with any real measures of relationship compatibility rather than being a random biological quirk that has been superstitiously fetishized, and (if the person who brought it up isn't desperately trying to escape the conversation yet) whether the concept soulmates is compatible with Catholic theology. Very few people last long enough through his disparagement of the entire concept to notice that he has skirted around ever actually saying whether or not he's ever made direct eye contact with another person, and even fewer are willing to risk touching off another lengthy tirade to press him on the matter.
Thanks @soulmate-au-bargain-bin for the fun idea!

The Princess & the Football Player | Chapter 4
Author’s note: The towel moment is inspired on something that actually happened years ago with the mother of Spain’s current King 😂

"Hello, you."
"Hello, Sophie."
"How is Canada treating you?"
"So far so good. Jet lag hasn't hit yet" I say, sitting on my bed.
"You'll probably won't have jet lag. It's like your super power, it never affects you."
"I beg to differ."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah" Sophie says, rolling her eyes. "Are you excited about England's game? About watching him play?" she asks, moving her eyebrows up and down.
"I actually am, yes."
"Are you going to wear his shirt?"
"Almost."
"Almost? What does that mean?"
"When I met him before they traveled, they gave me my own England shirt with the number I used to play with. And guess who also wears that number..."
"No!"
"Yep."
"Ellie, that's a sign! You are destined!"
"Mum and dad would say it's just a coincidence."
"Mum and dad know nothing. Have they told you that they are inviting over some friends to watch the game?"
"What? They don't like football!"
"I know" she shrugs. "But since it is the first game of the World Cup..."
"Please don't let dad say anything stupid. Like that I'm watching my crush or something like that."
"I won't, I promise. I'm still shocked he noticed that you fancy Declan, tho."
"So am I" I sigh. "Anyway, they are knocking on my door, I must go."
"Somewhere interesting?"
"Just lunch with some boring people. Will call you tomorrow, ok?"
"Ok. Love you, sis."
"Love you too" I say, hanging up.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Nervous about the game, ma'am?" my bodyguard David asks.
"A bit, yes" I say as I sit down, my eyes scanning the pitch, looking for him. For Declan.
"This should be an easy game, England has a better team."
"You never know" I reply, still looking for him. Where is he? "Has there been any change on the line up?"
"No, ma'am. Why?"
"I'm... Oh, nevermind" I say when I finally spot him.
"Any favourite player, your Royal Highness?" a woman asks, sitting next to me.
"Uh?"
"You seemed to be smiling at the pitch."
"No, no" I reply, feeling my cheeks getting warm. "I'm just excited about the game. And a bit nervous too."
"Same" she says. "It's the first time my country makes it to a World Cup."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I hadn't recognised you or..."
"It's ok, ma'am" she smiles. "And how not to be distracted when there are 22 handsome men in front of you."
"We don't have 11 handsome men on our line up, tho" I say, making her laugh, her reaction helping me relax a bit.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"I'm sorry about your debut."
"Oh, don't be. You just scored four goals, I was expecting seven" Dorothea laughs. That's the name of the woman who sat next to me. Dorothea, the Prime Minister of our rival tonight.
"Thank you for the company. I really enjoyed watching the game with you."
"Likewise" she says. "It is never easy to be in a public place on your own, being the one representing your country, and having all eyes on you."
"It is not, no" I smile. I was nervous about that, yes. I always am. I worry about the cameras catching me doing something I shouldn't, about the media taking something out of context... But I must admit I was also nervous because of Declan. I wanted him to do good, to not get injured. Is it too weird that I felt like that for an almost stranger?
"It's time, ma'am" David says.
"Oh, I better go. I'm meeting the boys in the changing room."
"Lucky you" Dorothea smirks. "Is that lunch date still happening?"
"Definitely. I'll text you to confirm it."
"Perfect. It was a pleasure meeting you, ma'am."
"You too."
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Your Royal Highness" Kane says. "Please come in."
"Thank you. And congratulations, everyone" I reply, looking around the changing room. And yes, you guessed it. I am looking for Declan.
"Did you enjoy the game?"
"I did. Though I must confess I was a bit nervous until you scored that first goal" I chuckle.
"I think we all were. But once that ball went in, everything flowed" Kane says.
After having a chat with most players and congratulating them for the win, it's time to take a photo, and Declan still is nowhere to be found.
"Has anyone seen Deccers?" Mount asks.
"He came in late and I think he is still in the shower" Saka says. And as those words leave his mouth, Declan shows up in the changing room. He's only wearing a towel that hangs loosely on his hips, some bits of wet hair falling on his forehead. Oh to be able to run my hands through it, to have him that close to me while he is barely wearing anything...
"Shit" he says when he sees me, his face turning even more red than it already was. "I'm so sorry, I didn't know..."
"Go put some clothes on, Declan" Kane says while shaking his head, the rest of their teammates trying not to laugh.
"Yes, sure, one minute."
"I'm so sorry about that, ma'am" he says once Declan has disappeared to get changed.
"It's ok, don’t worry" I say with a nervous laugh, still trying to process what just happened. That I've had Declan just a few feet away from me, looking glorious and almost naked.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Perfect!" the photographer says once he's taken a few photos. "Thank you, everyone."
"Thank you for coming and for your support, ma'am" Kane says.
"Of course" I reply. "Good luck on the next game."
"Thank you."
"Your Royal Highness!" someone says behind me as I leave the changing room. "Wait a minute, please."
"Oh, hello" I say, turning to look at Declan.
"I'm so sorry about what happened earlier. I didn't know you were here, I thought you'll come later, and I just..." he says while running a hand through his hair, making me feel... Things. Let's leave it there. "Are you ok?"
"Uh?"
"You seem... I don't know. Is it because of what happened? I made you uncomfortable, didn't I?"
"Oh no. No, no, no. It was the total opposite."
"The opposite of uncomfortable?" he asks while trying to hide a smirk, those gorgeous blue eyes of his fixed on me.
"I mean... I..." Shit. Shit, shit, shit. "You don't have to apologize for anything. It could happen to anyone."
"Ok" he says, his smirk now on full display. "Will you be at our next game?"
"That's the plan, yes."
"If you come to the changing room again, I'll try not to be almost naked" he chuckles.
"Better you than others." Did I say that? Why? Oh... my God. "And I should probably get going."
"Yes, of course" he says, the smirk not leaving this face. "It was nice seeing you again, Eleanor."
"You too. Good luck on the next game, Declan."
"Thank you, Eleanor" he replies, neither of us moving from where we are stading, our eyes fixed on the other’s.
"Ma'am?" David calls behind me. “It’s time to go.”
"Yes, sorry" I say, trying to stop smiling like an idiot and make my body move. “Goodbye, Declan.”
“Goodbye Elea... I mean, ma’am” he replies before walking into the changing room, murmuring something to himself. Probably that calling me by my given name wasn’t appropiate. But I didn’t care. I don’t care. He made it sound so good... Eleanor.

Okay the bridgerton break ups are killing me, can we please see how they back together cos I need some hea’s here
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, I get it, you convinced me, I should stop being lazy and finish the piece lol
First of all Kanthony gets back together the same way they do in the books. Kate has a car accident, the hospital calls him because he's still Kate's emergency contact, and Anthony runs, he doesn't even finish hearing the voicemail from the doctor, he just drops everything and races out. Kate turns out to only have a broken leg, but all the while Kate is getting her cast on Anthony is having the most major freak out of his life, because Kate could die! she could die! and he keeps repeating it to himself and Kate gets really worried about how he looks like he hasn't slept in ages. The next thing he knows, Anthony is hugging her, telling her he loves her so much, that he's been afraid of turning her into his mother who basically stopped functioning when his dad died because he was her world. But Anthony would rather live every day of his life loving Kate than waste another day without her. He lied to protect himself!! he does love her, he doesn't want to think of a world without Kate. And Kate decides to take him back, after he finally convinces her that all this time he did hear her her confession of love and did reciprocate her feelings, ever since they met, he was just lying about it. Anthony does do a 180 because he can't get over the fact that he could have lost Kate and she never would have known his feelings. Meanwhile Kate is pleasantly surprised at how much more free Anthony acts now that he's not lying to himself about loving her
Benophie, well, you guys probably already guessed it, Benedict makes a scene at Violet's birthday party, he gets into an argument with Araminta for harassing Sophie about the breakup and making it sound like it's all Sophie's fault, when he's the one who never deserved her. Finding out that Araminta and Sophie's dad sucked and that Sophie had a terrible home life. When Sophie thanks him for defending her like that, Benedict realizes that after knowing the terrible family Sophie came from, and hearing her talking with Roger about building her true family and raising kids with love and care, that his so called freedom means nothing compared to that. Because he's been trying to fill the void with meaningless hookups when all this time, he could be having something real and lasting with Sophie. the whole thing of having a nice house, doing chores. It suddenly hits him that building a future together with someone as brilliant as Sophie Beckett, sounds like a dream to him. So he apologizes to Sophie profoundly and goes all out to show her he's changed, he gets a permanent job at an art gallery, stops the random hookups, if he needs a date he only asks Sophie to go, and shows up alone to events if she says no. And when Araminta has her arrested on false theft charges, Bendict pays her entire bail out of his own savings, only asking her to give him another chance, this time, with the intention of getting married one day soon, if she'll have him. Sophie says that yes, she'll give him a chance, because she loves him, and eventually after a lot of persistence on Benedict's part, they do get back together.
Polin. I think these two got really angry at each other before the reconciliation, they both try to move on with their lives, but keep coming back to each other. Colin tricks Penelope into the 'we can still be friends right?' thingie that guys do when they're trying to change. But I think what does it for them is that in the dramatic moment when Colin doesn't run when he finds out that his ex, Penelope is the famous anonymous columnist LW. For the first time in the relationship he stays in England and faces her directly, because he's sick of running from his problems with Penelope. And he's sick of her expecting him to run. So he confronts her and they just have the big explosive angry argument they should have had before they broke up. Throwing blame, recriminations, hurt, every verbal weapon every bad memory, everything they hated or hid from each other fearing that their relationship wouldn't survive, they throw it there, out in the open. And then, by the end of the argument, both realize that they still love each other, that even trough all the dirty laundry they mutually aired, they both still think that the other is the best thing to happen to them, so Colin asks Penelope to be his girlfriend again, because he can't live without her, and if this is the worst they can do to each other, then they're going to be fine after all, so he will work hard to earn her trust, and since she also loves him, she agrees to try again. (Makeup sex was probably involved in this)
Philoise, well, that's just Eloise showing up in the middle of the night at Phillip's house, hugging the oversized stuffed animal Phillip got her for Christmas, during a thunderstorm, mumbling the most pathetic excuse, of being in the neighborhood, which basically boils down to a tearful 'Phillip I really really miss you' that just shoots Phillip's defenses to the ground. Because how can he not take her back when she's being so vulnerable and obviously in as much pain as him. He shows her that he built her a home office in his house, for her to use and she cries again, because of course he would, that's the type of idiot he is. Phillip is still angry at her for just breaking up with him without an explanation, but once Eloise does explain herself, and he has a chance of talking about his own trauma, they both agree that being single is terrible when you're inlove with someone this stubborn. The next day Oliver and Amanda find out Eloise is in the house and absolutely snitch on their father about what a pathetic downer he's been and how she needs to come back and 'fix him again'. So Eloise promises she's back with their dad, and here to stay. Although in this case, they do agree to take things slower (And by slower I mean Eloise will be proposing next week, because she saw Colin do it and it felt like a good idea)
Saphne, Ohh this one is the typical party girl x bad boy get back together, Daphne is partying hard till she drops for the third month straight, when Simon just can't take it anymore, because ofc Anthony was like 'Let Daphne make her own choices Simon' when Simon told Anthony to rein her in and watch out for her crazy celebrity friends. So Simon himself starts showing up at the events where Daphne is acting out, and just brining her home before she can be taken advantage of. Because for some reason he's now frequenting the bars she likes. At one point, he confronts her, tells her that she's better than this, Daphne tells him that so is he!. And they have a heart to heart, that brings them closer together. They decide to quit pretending they're okay, and do get back together after finally accepting that the other is not going to change and that relationships mean compromise, and it's not until Anthony has his first child a year later, that Simon revisits the children and marriage conversation with Daphne. Because after thinking about it for so long, he's ready to become a dad, not because Daphne wants to have kids, but rather because he finally healed enough to feel confident that he deserves to be loved and that he's not going to turn into his abusive father.
Franchel: Michael comes back from his travels, he admits defeat, he grovels, Francesca does not take him back, he spends way too long being Violet's plus one to family events just to get close to Fran again. Until literally half her family is begging Francesca to put him out of his misery and either honestly go no contact or take him back. She does finally take him back. But with much more healthier ground rules. (Oh who am I kidding, he seduced himself into forgiveness, because she sure was more forgiving after round 10 of seduction. That man has got a superpower only Francesca can tame. She was brave for holding him off for so long)
Hyacinth and Gareth did eventually find common ground after Sophie took Hyacinth out of the videogame room and made her see the underprivileged side of town so she could appreciate the privilege she was born into. Truthfully Hyacinth still the materialistic younger sibling all the Bridgertons love, but she does make an effort to help people who have less opportunities than her by participating in more activism, when Gareth sees that she's trying to be more sensitive to human issues that don't involve her personal self interest, he falls inlove with her again. Hyacinth asks him if they could start over and Gareth agrees, knowing that he was inmature too and that the best thing they can do is leave the past behind and get together under a fresh start.
Gregory and Lucy. Pretty sure they got back together because Haselby got sick of them and staged an intervention. Haselby made it look like Lucy was being blackmailed by a criminal and had Gregory think her life was in danger, when really it was just Lucy's creepy uncle locking her up at home and not letting her go to school because he found out her relationship with Haselby was a ruse. So Gregory bravely rode to the rescue, practically blew up the door to Lucy's house, and Lucy's bedroom where she was locked up by her uncle, and as an added bonus, Gregory had Lucy's uncle arrested for child neglect. Gregory also asked Simon and Daphne to pull some strings CPS and had Lucy placed with Anthony and Kate temporarily until she turned 18. Even after all this, Gregory was insecure about where he stood with Lucy, but once she was not restricted by her uncle and didn't have to fake her relationship with Haselby, Lucy was free to be honest with him and ask Gregory out for Prom herself, Gregory is obviously over the moon. Because she never stopped loving him and that's all he needs. And although Hermione Watson gets the title of Prom Queen, Gregory gives his own Prom King Crown to his beloved Lucy, because she may not be the diamond of the season for their fancy private school, but she is the Diamond of the season to him. (Bonus of their story is that they do get accepted into the same Ivy League College after graduation)
And that's the tea

Don’t you find it weird that Charles and Camilla barely get any negative articles about them and they always seem to send William and Kate to the more difficult countries?
I've never thought about this! But wait this actually makes a lot of sense because I cannot remember the last time Charles and Camilla had a tour in a country where imperialism is a widespread debate. Last year Charles kind of got some blowback in Canada, but Canada still has some very nice ties with the UK. Meanwhile the then Cambridges had to suffer in the Caribbean. I found it very odd that Charles and Camilla didn't do a high-profile foreign tour to a place other than Canada during a Jubilee year.
In recent years, Charles has done state visits to countries in Africa and other places where ties with the British are more controversial. He was in Rwanda in June 2022 and was met with discussions about keeping the Queen as head of state. But he hasn't done any high-profile tours in a long while . . . hm. The last big tour of Africa was Harry and Meghan's (Anne's and other members that have gone since never got the same amount of eyes) and William and Kate's disaster tour of the Caribbean was only just over a year ago.
I think I'm going to keep an eye on where he's traveling next. Germany is obviously tame, although I think it's ridiculous how the media is trying to force it as a success because the British Royals are Germans themselves and Charles is "returning to his homeland". France is also tame, which is why I find it a joke that they postponed because of the protests. Maybe it's a security issue, but I doubt Charles and Camilla would be in direct danger. It would have been super cool if he'd gone anyway and kept up a Keep Calm & Carry On attitude, but now he looks as if he didn't want to go because the French plebs wouldn't roll out the red carpet for him.
Anyway, I think we should be interested in future high-profile tours to these places: India, Australia, and the Caribbean. There's a great scene in The Crown where Elizabeth tells her children that they have to visit these places so they don't have any "silly thoughts about independence". They have to visit these countries in order to promote British interests and the monarchy, they can't just ignore them. India doesn't have the King as head of state but they are a member of the Commonwealth (the largest by population) and its history with the British Crown is violent and disturbing. Australia is usually a huge success for the royals but in recent years there has been a lot of republican sentiment and talk of colonization. The Caribbean encompasses lots of countries and has proven to be a difficult place for the royals to be accepted. It would be interesting if upcoming visits to these countries are given to William and Kate or even Sophie and Edward. When royals go to these countries the criticism is very pointed and direct, Charles has always had an ego and a childish need for praise, plus, as head of state, he is the living embodiment of the British Crown. When he travels to countries that want to remove the King as head of state, they're talking about Him, not his mother. Their issues would be with him.
Thank you for this ask, anon, you've given me much to think about.

Happy Halloween! Have some angst!
Little tiny fic ideas that I don't have enough of to write to completion.
Sophie Foster as a Frankenstein's Monster. She's science experiment, born of electricity and hubris, stitched together with parts of dead people, and she belongs to a man who refuses to be anything but her overlord, who sees her as an experiment. There's a part in the novel where Frankenstein's Monster watches this family, from a distance, jealous and hungry for the love he will never get. Sophie is stuck in that moment. She's the created monster, she's something people will never understand, never love, and from them on she's what terrifies children, what keeps them awake at night. And all she is is lonely. It's not her fault she was an experiment. It's not her fault she was created. She never asked for this. She never wanted to be this. Her life is borrowed, her fingers are people's who she's never met, and sometimes she doesn't understand why she was built. just out of pride? Lack of respect? Scientific advancement? To cater to the whims of those who play God over the life they create? She doesn't know. But she's fairly certain there's a reason her heart sounds funny to her own ears.
Fitz Vacker as a werewolf. There is a monster that lurks in his blood, waits, glittering like the full moon, for the perfect moment to spring out and destroy. It's ugly, his parents tell him. He transformed once and killed a man, they say. They can't let him do that. That's why there's chains in the basement and why they lock him up. That's why they're never going to be proud of him. He's always going to be a werewolf. It's the only flaw he has, that once monthly he gets possessed by a bloodthirsty monster. It's the only thing about him that his family hates, he's told, by everyone. Because it's common knowledge, at this point. Every member of his family knows, and they all hate him for it. he's brought disgrace on them all, hasn't he? It's his fault he got bitten. It's his fault he got turned. No matter how hard he tries, he's never going to be good enough. He's never going to be loved enough. He's never going to be accepted. Because every full moon they still lock him up in the basement, and he claws his sharp nails down the floor and over himself to try and get the monster out. He's bleeding, in the morning, as the moon finally wanes, and his mother unlocks the door. She hands him a new pair of clothes, but no bandages. There's some sort of symbolism there, he thinks, as he cleans the gashes he drew on himself, as he wraps the raw wrists that ache and burn with the feeling of chains. There's a symbolism to it, but he can't figure it out.
Keefe Sencen as a ghost. He died a long time ago, and his body was never buried. Maybe it's because no one cared all that much. Keefe hopes it wasn't. He wanders around, moving things in people's houses, turning lights on and off, and hearing them scream and call for a priest to bless their house. He paints on their walls in blue and green, and moves glasses around in the air. He's a prankster of a ghost, he'll admit it, but he's lonely. So lonely. He's not where he's supposed to be. The woman who owns the house is on the phone with an exorcist. He laughs until whispers of tears roll down his cheeks, exhausted and painful. Don't they know that blessing him won't solve anything? He's a ghost, not a demon. He's dead, not alive, and he's crying as a priest finally, finally, prays for the repose of his soul, and the ties of him to his restless body finally loosen. He's going home. Finally.
Linh Song as a Vampire. She's thirsty. All the time, and there's no escape. Animal blood can't satisfy her. Human blood makes her mouth water. She stares at her own brother and wonders if she could ask him for his blood. And she refuses to do it. She's not a murderer. She's not a blood drinker. She swears. She's a good person. But stars, she's wasting away. She's so hungry, so thirsty. It echoes through her body like tremors, like a slight breeze could knock her over. And it hurts, stings her nose with the scent of living, of breathing. She winds up walking through the streets, half in a trance, and she's at the site of an accident. There's blood on the ground, blood dripping down the tree from where the person fell. The person isn't there anymore, but the smell hangs heavy and delicious around her and before she knows what she's doing she's licking the stones, her body shaking and starving even more in response to the first real food it's had in years. And she doesn't cry, even as her nose prickles when she's gotten as much as she can, even when the empty, hollow ache has returned, a thousand times over. She is a good person. She is good. And if that means living in pain for all eternity, that's what that means. Tam hugs her, that night, and she shoves him away. His blood smells too good. She doesn't tell him that. His eyes ache with hurt. She runs to her room, and doesn't come out til the morning.
Dex Dizznee as a witch. He goes to the house of the Vackers, one day, to give Fitz a sort of check up. Fitz snarls that he's fine. Dex pats his head, and Fitz trembles, like he hasn't had anyone touch him in a very long time. Dex gives him a potion to try on his endless scars, and hugs the guy before he leaves. Dex doesn't see the way Fitz covers his face and cries about that tiny hug for the next half hour. He goes to the Song's house, and he finds Tam cursing at their parents. Linh's pale and deathly sick. Dex wonders if they know their daughter is a vampire. He brings it up to her. She flinches. "I don't want to hurt people." He blinks. "What have you been eating?" "Animal blood," she answers, her voice in whispers. "And it's not cutting it." Dex hands her a potion. "This might help. It's a supplement. Should give you more of the nutrients you need. Make it less painful." Linh nods, looking like she might cry, but Dex leaves, after telling her parents she'll be okay and that he gave her a potion to try. He walks home that night and hears something screeching from the depths of the woods. Birds fly up in a cloud. He sighs, wondering what the crazy scientist, Forkle is up to again. He'll have to go check on whatever he's done this time tomorrow. Dex collapses in the chair, and sets up the wards around his house with a wave of his hand. He rubs his face and makes himself some dinner. It's quiet, in his house. But he doesn't mind it.

Oh Molly!!! Poor baby vamp Anthony! How much trauma can a being suffer??!
I have a question about the Bridgerton's soulmates in this fic: have every sibling found their one true love? (If yes, are they soulmates as the one in the canon) IS OUR BABY ANTHONY THE ONLY SIBLING WITHOUT HIS SOULMATE?! Because if he is, I might be crying right now in my bathroom tbh
But, honestly, can you tell us more of how the rest of the alphabet met their soulmate?!
I love you so much and I hope you are having an amazing week! (I hope it's not very cold where you are, here I am freeeeeeezing!!!!!!)
Ps: Aristóteles misses his bud Greg very much and sends lots and lots of kisses!!!!!
I'm very sorry to say, Anthony is the only one of his siblings who hasn't found their mate yet. And before his father died, he'd desperately wanted to. He looked very carefully at every girl he met and wondered if it was her. But after his father died he didn't want it. Didn't want to doom anyone to spend their life with him.
But everyone else did find their mate. I'll share with you the more interesting stories.
Simon had been an old friend of Anthony's and he'd never looked twice at Daphne until one day he did, and he couldn't stop looking and it truly was worth Anthony trying to rip his throat out with his teeth.
Benedict found Sophie while he was hunting, she hadn't been turned long, and to this day she's no idea who turned her. One day she was a lady's maid, accompanying her Lady home. She awoke the next morning, with little understanding of the new thirst that burned in her throat. When Benedict found her she'd been on her own, hiding in the shadows, and Benedict knew instantly who she was to him. Sophie knew after she tried to kill him, and he was still grinning up at her that Benedict might be special.
And we heard Gregory and Lucy's story in the last chapter. And not to worry, after they were mated, Gregory paid a little visit to Lucy's Uncle, and the man who turned her, with Anthony in tow. Neither of them will be bothering her again.
And here is a gift for Aristóteles below the cut

WE NOW NEED BEAR HUGGER HCS AAAAAAAA
NOW YOU'RE SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE-
Bear Hugger Headcanons:
A Triplet, the eldest of the three, and pretty much the anchor for his siblings
Definitely family orientated, he puts nothing above them.
His mother died of Eclamspia when she gave birth to his baby sister, Nola. It left him pretty distraught afterwards and really left him questioning what to do with his life
From 17-19, he wasn't very popular growing up and was frequently made fun of for his size. Got to a point where anyone who offered to be his friend, no matter who they were? He was gonna take it cause he was that lonely
Was forced to kill a bear and almost did, but thankfully his dad ran in to stop him. Unfortunately his led to Hugger getting startled and shooting him in the knee. He still hasn't really forgiven himself for that, even though his dad has well moved past it
On that note: he loves his dad. Definitely the one who inspired him to be the kind and caring soul he is today.
Hugger loves travelling. Doesn't matter where, so long as he can get a good hike in. His favourite place though is Vancouver as that is where he met his dear friend, Piston Hondo.
He is a very handy man, especially when it comes to woodworking. The guy has made quite an impressive array of sculptures. Even made a willow tree!
Has way too many animals under his care. The main lot are Maple, Chip, his three dogs, his daughters cat, a Teen moose and a Rustic pony.
He works as Vet, but mainly works on larger animals like bears, wolves, moose, hell even bison.
He is an absolutely amazing dad. He loves his baby girl, Sophie, and teaches her everything he knows about the wildlife and preserving it
He used to have really long, scraggly hair that went down to his shoulders, but he cut it all off for Sophie, and he has not regretted the decision.
He loves animals, if that wasn't obvious. He works very closely with them and even does a bit of rescuing from time to time
He and Hondo are the closest friends, basically brothers. A package deal! Hugger loves to spend time around Hondo, and the latter brings out a very rare, somewhat annoyed side, of Hugger, but almost always you are able to see them laughing and joking around with each other.
Very rarely gets angry, so if you do piss him off...you better run, he has got a mighty throw with that axe of his.
Having a bad day? Feel sick? Just need to calm down? Get Hugger to give you a hug and all your problems just melt away. He's such a cuddle bug, always there to make sure everyone's okay. He may be a BIT overbearing if you're sick, but it's all with good intentions
He definitely has some form of insomnia, mans really struggles to sleep
Has a LOT of scars, and I mean a LOT

Bridgerton Superhero AU
I thought of this while working on some asks and had to post it. Imagine the modern day Bridgertons are a family of popular superheroes (haven't come up with their powers quite yet but am open to ideas). They are very popular in the media and at least one of them is sure to make the news daily. The people adore them and they are a myriad of admirers. However, their civilian identities are more lowkey and not quite as popular.
When he's not saving damsels in distress and seducing the many women of London, Anthony Bridgerton works as an attorney who fights for justice. Because of this, he often works closely with detective Kathani Sharma, a woman who exudes confidence and doesn't take anyones bullshit. It doesn't help that she absolutely gorgeous (lord knows how often Anthony dreamed about those long legs of hers wrapped around him) and one of the few people who can challenge Anthony. And yet Anthony still hasn't plucked up the courage to ask the woman on a date.
Benedict Bridgerton works as an art therapist, mainly working with children coming from tough home situations. He also volunteers to the local retirement home to teach painting classes every other weekend. He does paint in his free time but doesn't have the confidence to share his work with other people. In between saving people every week, Benedict also faces another problem: he's in love with two women. One, a beautiful masked woman that he kissed at a New Years Eve party. All he remembers about her is the lovely silver dress she wore and how wonderful it felt to have her pressed against him. The other is Sophie Beckett, a beautiful social worker that he's collaborated with a few times. She has to be the sweetest woman he's ever met and she genuinely cares for all her charges. If only he could forget his mystery woman and just ask out Sophie his life would be so much easier.
Colin works at a large newspaper, reviewing various restaurants but longs to travel to other countries. However, he does love bringing focus to local restaurants that may not be as fancy as others but have amazing food and also amazing background stories. Is it any surprise then that he has a crush on Penelope Featherington, the owner of his favorite bakery and one his best friends? Not only does Penelope make the best muffins and is one of the nicest people he knows, she's also witty and very pretty. If only he could get out of the friendzone with her.
Daphne works as a wedding planner and is known for creating the most beautiful weddings no matter the budget. She's always prepared no matter what the situation and he assistants are left in awe of her cool head. The only time she seems to lose a bit of her cool is around Simon Basset, her brother Anthony's best friend and the most handsome man Daphne's ever seen. Not only is the man a firefighter (as if he wasn't hot enough!) he also works at the gym Daphne goes to and teaches self defense classes.
Eloise is currently working as an associate attorney Lady Danbury's law firm. Whereas Anthony specializes in criminal law, Eloise aims to be a civil rights attorney. As a bonus, her best friends bakery is right down the street but it is also next to a flower shop run by the quiet but handsome Phillip Crane. He's also a frequent customer of Penelope's and the two have gotten into quite a few debates. Eloise is not one to swoon and will kill anyone who says otherwise, but something about the quiet but intelligent flower shop owner draws her in.
Francesca is a music teacher at the local elementary school and also teaches piano lessons on the side. Like many secret superheroes, Francesca has a bit of a tragic backstory. She lost her best friend John, the only person outside her family to know her secret, to a horrible accident. John had asthma and during a hostage situation had an asthma attack and died because he didn't have his inhaler. Francesca blamed herself because John had snuck out that night to help her with something. What's worse is John was her first love and admitted his feelings for her with his dying breath. Since then, she's put up a wall around her heart and it took awhile for her to even think about joining the family business once more. Things are going smoothly, until Michael Stirling waltzes back into town to open his own bar after being discharged from the army. Michael used to be one of her good friends as well but after John's death, they grew apart. It also doesn't help that he's no longer the charming boy boy she knew in high school but a dangerously handsome man who seems to see right through her.
Gregory works on designing video games and is viewed by many people as a bit of a nerd given how he loves comic books and video games and is very smart. If he would just wear better clothes, tame his hair, and ditch the glasses, he'd be pretty handsome. He's not the best with talking to girls but finds the local librarian Lucy Abernathy very easy to talk to. Lucy's very organized and seems extremely prim and proper but can debate marvel vs. DC like no other and is an expert when it comes to Lord of the Rings. Even better, the woman makes her own cosplay outfits and Gregory had to stop himself from double liking her instagram photo of her as Galadriel. But how can an ordinary guy like Gregory hope to win over Lucy?
Hyacinth is currently working as a barista in a local cafe as she finishes up university. However, she is still unsure about what she wants to do after college. All her other siblings seemed to have figured out what they wanted from life but Hyacinth is still struggling. At least she gets to chat with Gareth St. Clair each day. He works in part time as a bartender while completing his business degree. He plans on opening his own auto shop one day and has a job lined up after he graduates to work as a mechanic for a bit to gain some experience. With his various piercings, tattoos, and the fact that he owns a motorcycle, he looks exactly like the kind of guy Anthony always warned her to stay away from. Yet, Hyacinth can't help but get a little weak in the knees each time he smiles at her.
So what is the conflict you may ask?
Is it that the Bridgerton spouses are secretly supervillains?
(No, they are normal civilians thank you very much).
Are the spouses seeing someone else?
(Nope, all of them are single).
The problem is, that the spouses seem highly unimpressed whenever the Bridgertons rescue them.
Anthony doesn't understand how the Kate who sometimes brings him his favorite coffee and teases him, instead acts like he's more of an annoyance whenever his hero persona interacts with her.
Or how Lucy doesn't seem impressed by Gregory saving her and instead points out all the disorder he caused but is so patient and warm to him even when he accidentally knocks over a shelf of books as a civilian.
In short, the Bridgertons are trying to win over their spouses as their hero selves (as this seems to be the version everyone prefers) while their spouses are in love with the Bridgertons civilian identities.
Meanwhile, Violet is sipping her tea, wondering when her children will realize that their spouses love their true selves, just as she loved the sweet Edmund Bridgerton who stuttered out an apology after accidentally causing her to spill her coffee all over her dress rather than the handsome and suave hero who saved her from some thugs.
If you would like to see more of this AU or have any ideas for superpowers, please let me know!

i'm watching How I Met Your Mother and How I Met Your Father (both for the first time) contemporaneously. overall, just based on their respective first seasons, i think that HIMYF has a slight edge over HIMYM; my rationale is under the cut
Male Characters HIMYM: Marshall is the only likable male character in HIMYM. Barney is a straight up s*xual pr*dator and Ted is just...annoying. in the first season alone, Barney has said that the "only reason to wait a month for sex is if the girl is 17yrs and 11mos old" which is??? so gross??? he also filmed a woman without her permission while they were having sex???? and he also made clear his intentions to have sex with women so drunk it wasn't clear they could even consent (on multiple different occasions)????? i understand that these qualities are written to be unlikeable (probably to show character development later), but these traits are also never really condemned by his friends; the most they do is just roll their eyes and change the subject. if not criminal consequences, i believe he should face some social consequences, at the very least. regarding Ted, he is super whiny and annoying. it's as if the writers decided to challenge themselves to write a very similar, but somehow worse, version of Ross from Friends HIMYF: i truly don't have any issues with any of the male characters because they haven't yet done as much to irritate me as Barney has. Charlie is clearly entitled, but he seems eager to work on that. Jesse is just navigating getting back into dating and working on his career. he is generally fine, though it was sleazy of him to come onto Sophie when she was still dating Drew; very Robin/Ted/Victoria of the writers. Sid is engaged and willing to work with his fiancee on their issues in addition to being willing to put himself out there and try new things with her in order to make their LDR work out. he seems like a good guy and i like him Female Characters HIMYM: Lily and Robin are both fine. they have regular people issues and respond to things in a generally typical way. the thing i don't really like about either of them so far is that their development has really centered around their romantic relationships and not much else. it's hard to get a multidimensional character when they are only ever really shown or developed with respect to their love interests HIMYF: Sophie is clearly supposed to be Ted in this version, but she isn't nearly as annoying. i have the same criticism for her as for Jesse though: she shouldn't have reciprocated Jesse's advances while she was still dating Drew. Valentina is a complex character; i like her and i think she is going to have some interesting growth. Ellen hasn't been developed that much, but i did really like the vulnerability she showed when discussing her relationship with her brother. this show seems to be much better at developing women outside of their relationship to men: Sophie's career and relationship with her mother have gotten screen time, Ellen's relationship with her brother was explored already, and Valentina's career has been slightly explored (though, Valentina is most at-risk for becoming a one-dimensional female character, in my opinion)
Overall HIMYM: i'd give it a score of a 5.5/10. maybe i just need to give it some more time to grow on me so that i can be be invested in the characters more (but i will say that i don't think HIMYF wrestles with this issue as much; more on that below). i think another issue is that HIMYM relies too much on nonlinear narrative techniques for their storytelling in an attempt to be unique. it’s totally fine to throw different directing styles into the mix in every once in a while, but it seems to be utilized in the vast majority of HIMYM episodes. i do acknowledge the fact that this show is a cult favorite with very respectable ratings, so i definitely don't want to write it off too hastily. i also don't really have anything else to watch right now, so i'm gonna stick with it a little longer to see if i end up liking it once i'm a few more seasons in HIMYF: it's a little premature to make any conclusive comparisons, but in my opinion, HIMYF is a little bit better than HIMYM. i'd give HIMYF a score of a 6.5/10: its comedy is executed better (in most cases) and it also has stronger, more diverse, and generally more likable characters. it's only eight episodes in, but it's already developed many of its core characters in a decently engaging and meaningful manner. i cared about the characters and their respective challenges right off the bat, and i just truthfully can't say i felt the same immediate connection to the characters on HIMYM. i also feel like, although they're clearly trying to modernize it with slang and technology, they aren't doing it in an overly cringey way (it can still be cringey though lol not gonna lie). overall, i like it and i’m happy it got renewed for a second season!

Since you saw this morning Olivia Benson walking downstairs accompanied by Voight, your good mood got burned into ashes just in a sight. He hadn't told you that she was going to come and, actually, he hadn't why to tell you. For him, it's only part of his job. But you know it's something else for her. You have seen her how she looks at your man. The unjustified and unnecessary touches on his back, on his arm. The stupid smiles she draws to him, that you would be delighted of erasing using your fist.
You have never, ever, been the kind of jealous girl. You trust your boyfriend blindly, but you don't trust her. You can't. You have tried it with all your efforts, but then you heard her laughing for no reason and Hank responding with a fleeting smile. You haven't talked him about how you feel, because the age gap between both makes you look stupid sometimes. Fortunately, you're professional enough to not let these things affect your job and your relationship. You have learnt how to hide your emotions, even if sometimes your friends suspect that something is going on by the tic that makes you blink your left eye unconsciously.
Aware that he must be there with his amazing friend, Kim places a hand on your shoulder trying to encourage you to cross the entrance and come into the Molly's. Licking your lips as you calm yourself a little, you nod pushing the door to be embraced by the warm atmosphere inside it, covering you from the cold breeze of Chicago. Letting your eyes travel around the place, you greet some of your friends waving a hand, before landing your gaze on your boyfriend. He turns at that exact moment, not even trying to contain a smile. You show him another back, but his disappears when he sees you passing him away straight to the Unit's table without greeting him. And Olivia notices it, but you don't care.
“What's up, trouble?” Jay pulls down your hair, earning a laugh from you.
“Platt said you crashed a patrol”. Wrinkling your nose in a funny gesture, after Adam's words, you take a seat next to him.
“These aren't the things you have to learn from us, you know it, right?” Antonio makes you all chuckle, calling to his sister raising a finger to ask for more beers.
“I caught the bad guy, didn't I?”
“Yeah, crashing a car”. Atwater raises his eyebrows, leaning over the table.
“But I caught the bad guy, that's my job not to take care of the cars. I'm not a mechanic…”
“BUT A COP!” You all say in unison, as always, like a famous quote.
As soon as the beers arrive, you make another toast for your car lost in action. And everything is fun until you feel a presence behind you and the silence gets installed around your table. Gulping and licking your bottom lip, as your friends drink from their bottles trying to pretend that you all weren't doing what you were doing, you turn around over your stool forcing a smile.
“Having fun, officer (Y/L/N)?” Platt's voice gives you the kind of shivers you can hide.
“No, no, n— I mean… yes”. The look on her face causes you to swallow again. “I me—mean, no?”
“It's a simple question. Yes or no”.
“Trudy, leave the kid alone”.
Saved by the bell. Your hero.
“Crash a car is part of our tradition, ain't it?” Hank tries to put some humor in the situation, traveling his eyes from her to you.
“Hm”. The woman just replies, before walking away.
You don't know about what kind of tradition he is talking of, but at least he has saved your ass. Again. Not being able to look at him, you sip from your beer trembling yet. Probably, tomorrow Crowley will ask for a convincing explanation. I caught the bad guy will not work with her, that's for sure. Feeling a soft touch in your lower back, you raise your orbs from the bottle to your boss, who makes a brief move with his chin to point at the back door at the end of the bar. You don't want to go, you know exactly what it's going to happen and you just want to forget the intense day you have had. But he raises his eyebrows with that cockiness usual on him, about to drag you if you don't put down from your stool.
With an imperceptible sight, you end up obeying in silence under the attentive eyes of your friends. Hank walks behind you with both hands in the pocket of his jeans, as you wear your jacket to zip it above your chest. The fresh air hits your face once you reach the Molly's back alley, resting your back against the wall with your face bowed to your military black boots. Placing himself in front of you, he studies thoroughly your gesture, your lips pressed and the lack of eye contact.
“What's the matter?”
Shaking your head slightly, you cross one leg behind the other, putting your hands on your lower back.
“You're jealous, aren't you?”
Letting go an exaggerated chuckle, you roll your eyes before gluing them on him. “You're calling that jealousy? If she can still use her legs, I'm not being jealous”.
“It ain't a good moment to be sarcastic, sweetheart”.
“I'm not. She is just a colleague, right?”
Hank nods in silence tilting his head closer and you're sure he can hear your heart speeding up under your skin. He always does that, putting you nervous only to prove the power he has on you, on your body, on your senses. And you hate him. You hate how proud he feels because of it. The grin on his face causes a chill down your spine, standing up from the wall to pretend that he is wrong, that he doesn't control your reactions.
“Hm… Good to know you're conscious of her position. She's gonna stay in my house tonight. We didn't plan to need more than one day and she doesn't have a place”.
For a moment, the image of you punching his face runs your mind, keeping your hands inside the pockets of your jacket to close them in two fist until you feel your nails hurting your palms. There are a lot of replies to his words stuck in your throat, but if it's a proof of trust, you would fail miserably. This is a clash of titans and you're not going to let him win.
“That's fine”. You respond squinting at him, taking a step ahead almost facing Hank. “Anything else?”
“No”.
“Okay”.
With a feigned smile, you turn to the left to leave the alley and come back to your private party, which means to get drunk until Burgess and Hailey have to carry you home.
“What an interesting night is gonna be”. Hank whispers seeing you grabbing the doorknob, teasing you as only he knows how to do.
Kissing your lips as your steps stop dead, you turn your head about to lose your calm.
“If I see her putting a hand on your leg again, I'm gonna break every single fucking bone of her body”.
You couldn't help it. He knows exactly which words he has to use to push you to the edge. The worst part is the fun he usually has doing it. Walking towards you moving his head as if he was nodding, Hank caresses his bottom lip with a forefinger looking thoughtful.
“I didn't think of you as someone violent”.
“Fucking watch me, Voight”.
“Hm…”
Containing a laugh, he opens the door for you, pointing at the inside with a hand. Clearly challenging you. But before you can pass him away, the sergeant grabs your forearm to push you back and lean his lips over your ear.
“She booked the hotel yesterday”. His raspy voice touring your head makes you feel your cheeks burning in shame.
He has won already and you know it. Wanting to leave him again, he pulls you back again hearing the heavy snort escaping your mouth.
“She knows who you are. Told her this morning”.
Did really he? Arching up one of your eyebrows, you can't help but turn your face slightly at him. Your parted lips reveal the surprise and the confusion. Why can she know it, but not your friends? Just because she doesn't work in Chicago? It isn't fair. At least, under your opinion. It's not like you're going to act like Voight's girlfriend and take the advantage of what it means. But it allows you to smile at him when you cross your eyes in the hallways, it allows you to don't have to hide if you want to have lunch together, it allows you to not have to drive two different cars and leave his house before him to work. Small simple things that for you means a lot.
“Cut off the show, boss. Everybody is looking at us”.
It isn't the first time that Hank can't avoid touching you somehow in public, finding the stupidest excuse just to feel you. And he really enjoys putting you nervous, watching the way you lick your lips and bite the bottom one, feel the way your body gets tense when he lays his hands on you, the short frights he gives you coming behind you and whispering ‘officer (Y/L/N)’ in your ear.
Actually, there's no reason why you decided to hide your relationship. You haven't even talked about it. You haven't thought if it's because of the age gap, because of his past, because he is your boss (...). You haven't given it any importance, till you met Olivia Benson a couple months ago. That kind of sergeant who comes from New York and thinks that she runs the Chicago police department. Hank hasn't told you how they met, imagining they did when he was working on the Gang Unit.
“Admit your jealousy”. Tilting his head enough to look into your eyes, the challenging grimace comes back to his face.
Knowing that he's not going to stop, you simply nod. “It isn't fair that other women can… touch you, and I have to wait more than twelve hours just… simply to smile at you without looking suspicious”.
Hank can hear to perfection the hopelessness in your voice, feeling your fingers loosening his grip around your other forearm. It's not a question of possessiveness, but of insecurity; and he's discovering it now, thinking about since when you feel like that.
“Do you wan'me to take you home?”
You shake your head, now with guilt running under your skin because you know it has ruined his night.
“I'm okay, boss. Gonna have some fun with my friends after a long day”.
“Will you have some fun with your boss after that? End the night in my house playing pool, drinking whisky? I will let you win”.
You can't help but show him a fleeting smile, almost curving your lips. That's a yes for him and Hank feels satisfied. Holding your right hand on his, your boyfriend brings it to his mouth placing a tender kiss on the back of it, before letting you go.
Hailey and Burgess are squinting at you, knowing that their suspicions weren't wrong at all. Not saying a word and pretending normality, you sit back on your stool to have a sip from your beer. You're literally sweating right now, and it isn't because of the jacket you are wearing but because of the petty smiles appearing on the other cops.
“You know that we work in Intelligence, right, little trouble?” Antonio is the first one talking jokingly.
“Yeah, and we don't need to be detectives to know what's going on”. Hailey hums resting his arms over the table.
“How is Voight in private? I've always had curiosity. He takes off the stick of his ass when he comes home, or…?”
“Halstead, I can hear you”.
“Yeah, that was the intention, Sarge”. He replies, lifting up his beer in a silent toast.
Turning at Hank just for a second, you can't help but shrug with your eyebrows briefly frowned in a funny grimace that makes him giggle. It was inevitable, since they have seen the way and how close he has talked to you. But now, the pressure within your chest is dropping down, feeling better.

"I just can't believe the VAR saw that as a penalty. What did they want him to do, cut his arm?" Declan says as we walk into his house, throwing his bag on the floor. "And the yellow I got? I barely touched him!"
"But it was very risky and dangerous."
"Oh, c'mon Eleanor. Not you too."
"Declan, you are the only one who doesn't agree with it."
"Because it wasn't enough for a yellow card!"
"Ok, whatever."
"Yeah, whatever" he says, rolling his eyes.
"Wait, where are you going?"
"To bed."
"Already?"
"Yes, already. Is there any problem with that?"
"I thought we were going to have dinner together."
"That was before we were robbed, and my girlfriend basically told me I am a dangerous player."
"What? I haven't said that, Declan."
"Good night, Eleanor" he says, starting to walk up the stairs.
"Good... Urgh!" I groan before leaving and closing the door with the loudest bang I can.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"What are you doing here? Weren't you going to have dinner with Declan?" Sophie asks.
"I was, but he was in one of his moods. Again" I sigh, sitting down next to her.
"How bad was it this time?"
"Let's just say it wasn't pleasant."
"I'm so sorry, Ellie."
"It's ok, don't worry. But don't tell anything to mum and dad. Especially to mum."
"She knows something is going on, tho. Lately you've been spending more time with us or alone than with Declan."
"I know. But I don't need her giving me the I told you look. Mainly because she isn't right. Declan and I will work things out, this is just a little bump in the road."
"Of course it is" Sophie says, giving my hand an encouraging squeeze. "I've never met anyone more in love than you two."
"Not even Roberta and Mason?" I chuckle.
"Those two are different."
"How?"
"I don't know, they just are. And you and Declan will fix things, I'm sure of it."
"Thank you, Sophie" I say, resting my head on her shoulder.
"Anything for you, big sis" she replies.
I just hope we both are right, and that we will be able to fix things.
After the successful season Declan had last year, things aren't working out that well anymore. West Ham is in the relegation zone, losing most games due to stupid mistakes. And he hasn't been playing well, which makes things even worse. Most days he arrives back home angry, frustrated, and I'm the one who has to deal with it. Sometimes his family and Mason too.
During Christmas it looked like things were improving after they won a couple of games, his mood changing completely. But they started losing again, and now, with the Euros around the corner and some friendly games happening in just a few days, he's afraid he may lose his spot with the national team.
"Southgate would only leave you home if you are sick or injured. Even if you aren’t playing at your best right now, you still are better than most out there" I said to him.
"We’ll see" he replied.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"See? What did I tell you?" I say to Declan. "Southgate isn't that stupid!"
"Yeah" he chuckles, smiling for the first time in what feels like an eternity.
"Let's focus on this, ok? On these couple of games and spending time with the lads."
"The lads? Who are you and where is her Royal Highness?" he asks with a teasing smile, another one I had missed.
"Oh, shut up, Declan Rice" I reply, rolling my eyes but also smiling.
"I'll try to focus on that. And on improving my mood. I know I've behaved like a jerk lately."
"You have, yes."
"I'm sorry, Eleanor."
"It's ok" I say, caressing his cheek.
"Do you want to cuddle on the sofa and watch a movie? I'll let you pick."
"Really?"
"Yep."
"Oh, wow. I better take advantage of this, it only happens once in a decade."
"Ha ha ha. You are so funny" he says, rolling his eyes. "I still love you, tho."
"I love you too" I smile.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"There he is, my man of the match!" I say when I meet Declan outside the changing rooms at Wembley.
"Thank you very much, your Royal Highness."
"I'm very proud of you" I say, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"I needed this so much" he replies, resting his forehead on mine.
After not playing the first friendly game with England, he had his chance on the second one at home against Portugal, and he showed everyone why he is one if not the best midfielder out there. Bit biased? Maybe.
"I know. And I also know things will only get better and better from now on. This was the push you needed to keep going with West Ham and fight until the end."
"Things will get better."
"They will" I smile.
"I love you, Eleanor" he says, hugging me closer.
"I love you too" I reply before kissing him.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Declan, your phone is ringing."
"That's your phone, not mine" he says, covering his head with the duvet.
"No, that's... That's yours" I yawn.
"It's yours, Eleanor."
"Urgh" I say, looking for my phone on my bedside table. Someone was actually calling me. "Hello?"
"Where are you?"
"Good morning to you too, David" I yawn again.
"It's almost 1 p.m., Eleanor. Are you still in bed?"
"Yeah... Long night" I smile. With everything that had been going on lately, neither Declan nor I had been in the mood to do anything, but we made up for all the wasted time when we went back to my place after the game. "But you just called me by my name. What happened? What did I do?"
"You? Nothing. But..."
"But?"
"Why is that bloody phone ringing again?" Declan complains.
"That is your phone, I'm using mine."
"He's probably getting calls from his agent and everyone who knows him" David says.
"Why?" I ask.
"Because, Eleanor..."
"David, please say it. You are starting to scare me."
"Ok" he says, taking a deep breath. "You and Declan are on the cover of The Sun. Someone caught you kissing last night at Wembley."

💖💋🔥📙 for Isaiah & 🌹🧡⭐💛 for Bobbie & 🍐💤 for both
OH HELL YEA thank you cece
under read more bc this got kinda long ehehehe
ISAIAH
💖 Has your OC ever been in love, be it romantic or platonic or otherwise? Who with and did they ever express their feelings or keep it private? How long did these feelings persist / do they still feel this way?
as of now, he's had only one relationship - in which he was with his now manager, szarla, in year 12 and his first two years of uni. while the relationship was on fairly good terms and they got on well as friends, as romantic partners it wasn't the case; whether that was szarla being too loud and argumentative, or isaiah taking a while to warm up to the idea of being affectionate, something didn't quite work out.
💋 How affectionate are they with their friends? Their family? Their romantic partner(s) (if they have any)? Are they more physical or emotional when it comes to displaying their affection? Why?
he takes a bit of a while to be affectionate with newer friends due to general personal discomfort (i.e. he's terrified of coming across as weird, clingy, or a creep) - but when he warms up, he REALLY warms up.
when it comes to his affection, it's a mix of physical and emotional - but touch is his main love language; he's the type to let you rest on him during a long train ride home, to give people a forehead kiss while wishing them save travels, so on. he doesn't like to admit it, but he's an absolute sap.
🔥 Give us a list of general likes and dislikes, such as colours, textures, music, weather and other stuff!
he really likes calm and ambient music (such as something you'd hear on a "lofi beats to study to" video on youtube), anything honey flavoured or scented will always be met with a beaming smile, and he likes dogs
as mentioned earlier, he doesn't like loud and argumentative people all that much, and people who kick up a fuss over small things irritate him. he also doesn't like being around crowds; at best it will just make him uncomfortable and feel grimy, at worst it will make him actively anxious.
📙 What kind of subjects (of conversation, of discussion, in school or whatever) does your OC find interesting or engaging or that they can talk for hours about? What kind of stuff do they just find fun?
he really enjoys graphic novels, comic books and manga a lot, and almost studied illustration because of it. he and sophie tend to share a lot of manga/anime related trivia with each other, and in turn has an avenue to infodump about the latest thing he's read.
he also had a budding interest in visual effects makeup for a bit, but that never really came to anything save for fun halloween costumes and random facts.
BOBBIE
🌹 How easy is it for them to connect with others and make friends? On the flip side how easy is it for them to make an enemy of someone? Are they the kind of person who hangs around the food table at a party and never talks to anyone or are they the type who can talk to anyone?
she can make friends at a reasonable pace, and hasn't really made many enemies - at least, ones she's aware of anyway. she tends to keep to herself, but if she sees someone else is alone, she may go talk to them in case they're out of place as opposed to disliking company.
🧡 Who is your OC’s favourite person? Why is this person the top of their list and have they actually met them (an idol or rolemodel or celeb can be someone’s favourite after all!).
she hasn't really got a particular favourite person at the moment; she likes what she likes. however, once in a blue moon, someone will catch her eye - which could possibly be her favourite? idk
⭐ What is your OC afraid of? Any crippling phobias or some such? How do they act when scared and what helps them calm down? Does anyone ever find your OC scary? Why?
so this is major spoiler territory, so im gonna skip this one ehehehe
💛 In general, how in control of their emotions is your OC? Do they have a good hold on them or do their emotions control them, not the other way around? What do you think is the reason behind this and is your OC ever concerned about their lack of or good control?
this is also major spoiler territory so this too is not being answered
BOTH
🍐 What is your OC’s mentality? Are they overall positive? Negative? A bit of both? Describe their thought patterns and reasoning behind their choice making!
bobbie's veers into spoilers but generally she is optimistic in a "i'm trying to reassure myself things are okay but i know shit could fall apart at any moment' type way. she tends to be somewhat impulsive as a result of this mentality, sometimes in a "i don't know what else to do" way and sometimes in a "HAHA what could possibly go wrong" way.
isaiah can be a bit pessimistic sometimes, but he generally is a bit more of a realist and tries to strive for objectivity with his decisions.
💤 What was your OC like as a baby, a child and as a teen? (if your OC is a teen or a child, what will they be like as an adult?). How have they changed since then? What lessons have they learned and what things about their youth do they miss the most? Do they have any general regrets?
contrary to his adult self, isaiah was a very loud and talkative toddler/small child who would loudly try to befriend anyone he made eye contact with. nowadays he's a bit more withdrawn and anxious when meeting new people - unless he's had familiar people like bobbie, szarla or others vouch that they're cool.
bobbie, however, remained fairly consistent throughout her life. she had always been a fan about learning about people, but her new found ability to talk was only a recent occurrence. prior, she would mostly sit in the library and read anything and everything. she wasn't necessarily reclusive or awkward, but rather she felt that spending most of her time and energy trying to read people when they spoke indirectly was exhausting.

A/N : Happy Finan Friday!! Moodboard a little special today as it's Sophie and Osferth centred instead of the story this time 😉
Warnings : fluff ;) and mention of death!
Chapter 10 : This is not what you wanted
Vicky is getting used to how her dreams work. The first night, she dreams of the person's death, waking up abruptly with an erratic breath after having felt the coldness of death running through her veins. Then the following nights it’s a mess of memories from a huge variety of periods of time. She sees so much during this phase that she rarely remembers everything, but she wakes up at the same emotion that the person felt.
That’s how one early morning, when the sunlight shyly starts to fight the darkness, she wakes up with tears in her eyes and a deep sadness tearing her heart apart. Finan’s hand is on her cheek, his thumb wiping her tears as she breathes slowly to make the emotion fade.
“Are ya alright?” He asks when she finally meets his eyes in the dark.
“Yes, I’m fine. Sorry for waking you up.” She apologizes, turning on her side to face him, his hand leaving her face to rest on her waist.
Over a week has passed since the night they first kissed and even if they haven’t yet made it official to their hosts, Finan keeps sleeping with her. He also steals her kisses when they are just the two of them which amuses her a lot, making her feel like they are teenagers. However, she knows that the bond, no matter how confused it still is, that ties them together is far more than an infatuation.
“It's alright.” He smiles briefly before he starts to look more concerned. “Ya've been tossin' around for awhile now.”
She bites her lower lips as memories of her dreams emerge and she moves to settle against him. She closes her eyes, his fingers playing with her hair kindly, easing the tension in her body. Slowly, she remembers the story. It was cold, very cold and Sihtric was walking in the snow, his clothes wet and sticking to his skin. By his side there was Osferth, in a pretty much similar state, holding his rifle tightly against his chest. The two warriors looked miserable as they were shouting a name that she can't remember. They walked for hours in the forest until they suddenly stopped in front of a body. The man was laying in the white snow, a puddle of blood freezing around him, his chest perforated multiple times and his blue eyes opened wide to the sky. It was Uhtred.
Now she remembers what Osferth told them the day they arrived. Sihtric fell to his knees next to his Lord, shaking his body vigorously, wanting him to come back. The Dane furiously shouted at him to wake up, slapping him. Tears warmed his cold cheeks as they trickled down his face. Osferth kept questioning him in panic on why Uhtred didn't come back yet and Sihtric only yelled at him angrily that he didn't know. And so they waited hours in the cold winter, shivering under the heavy rain that started to fall. But Uhtred never moved, his skin turning blue and his eyes still contemplating Valhalla.
Finan's hand that grazes on her arm brings her back to reality. “I dreamt of Uhtred's death.” She finally tells him and she feels him freeze underneath her.
He doesn't ask any questions and she doesn't talk more of it, both of them knowing the wound is still too recent for the Irishman.
The days are pretty much like usual, starting every of Victoria's mornings with her training. She is getting better with the rifle, and even if she misses the feel of Finan behind her to guide her, she is proud to be able to succeed on her own. She also improves in close combat, now knowing where to hit to force her opponent to bend double. Sometimes, when she's making another task she whispers the combination of movements he taught her earlier. However, her practice has a tendency to raise a tension between them when they fight that hasn't yet been resolved.
“I win.” Finan whispers in her ear, out of breath after making her fall, keeping her firmly on her stomach against the floor and folding her arm behind her back.
She tries to hit him with her free hand to free herself, groaning when he easily grabs her wrist and presses it in the mud. He chuckles at her attempt and leans until his chest grazes over her back. She gasps a breath at his closeness, a warmth growing low in her belly as his lips hover over the shell of her ear.
“Do ya give up?”
“I never admit defeat.”
He laughs again despite the determination in her tone and frees both of her wrists. He holds himself above her as she rolls onto her back and she shivers when she notices the heat in his eyes. Her tongue snakes between her lips, the sight of it making a smirk grow on Finan's face. She grabs his shoulders to pull him down to her and he closes his eyes in anticipation of meeting her lips. But instead it's her knee that meets his stomach, hitting him right in the liver. Finan growls in pain, falling back beside her in the dirt, his arms wrapped around his waist. She can't help but giggle as she straddles him proudly.
“I told you I'm never admitting defeat.” She tells him when his features twisted by the ache start to ease.
They quickly separate when they hear Sophie's car approaching, both of them sitting in the mud when she gets out of it. She stares at them with wide eyes when she closes the vehicle's door. “Eh bah, have you seen yourselves?”
They frown before looking at each other and noticing the dirt on their faces but also clothes. “Collateral damages.” Finan grins as he stands back to his feet and stretches a hand out for Vicky to grab.
Sophie rolls her eyes. “You two should wash before we eat.”
It's only when they are cleaned that the French woman allows them to sit at the table for lunch, much to Vicky's joy whose belly is aching.
“How's your dreams going?” Osferth asks her when he puts salad on his plate before handing her the bowl.
She hesitates a moment, remembering her last dream. “It's still confused, old memories. But it will soon be more recent ones and I'll be able to have real clues on where he is.” She explains.
Osferth nods and stares down to his plate. “It's really strange, once I met you, I stopped dreaming of you.”
“I did too. Once I'll have met Sihtric, I should be rid of it.” She shrugs and rests the bowl in the middle of the table.
“Really strange.” The monk repeats, a long silence taking his words away.
Though, to everyone's surprise, Finan breaks the silence. “Maybe it's because we are meant to meet each other.”
Victoria looks up from her plate to find that Finan is staring at her from across the table, his gaze intense but nonetheless soft. She tries not to blush, knowing she had the same thought a few days ago, that everything may be written.
His words stay in her mind until night time, when she watches him poke the fire before heading to bed. He removes his hoodie and lets it drop to the floor, doing the same with his t-shirt. Even if she has seen him a few times shirtless since they met, right now seeing the flames' light dance on his scarred skin really does something to her. For a week they've been teasing each other but never a step further but now she has enough of it. She stands up and grabs his wrist before he can take his sweater for the night. He raises a surprised and confused eyebrow at her, opening his mouth to speak but he doesn't even have the time to say a word before she captures his lips. He growls in their kiss when her palms graze over his chest to curve around his neck or to let her fingers curl in his hair.
The feel of his warm skin under her hands makes her crave to feel it against hers. She chuckles when he grips her hips to guide her to the bed. She drops on it, bringing him in with her fall. She hums when he kisses down her jaw and neck, closing her eyes to relish the sensation. Their breathing gets heavier and their hands grow more adventurous, eager to discover each other.
But when Vicky grabs the end of her pullover to get rid of it, Finan suddenly covers her hands to stop her movement. She frowns at him as he looks in the direction of the front door intently, looking alert.
“What is it?” She asks him, her breath still heavy.
“I've heard a noise.” He whispers and when she opens her mouth to demand more information about it, he prevents her with his hand. “Hush.” He orders her and she reluctantly obeys.
He removes his hand and leaves the bed, grabbing his sweater to put it back on, which makes Victoria roll her eyes in an annoyed. He takes the Colt resting on a furniture and carefully walks to a window, his back against the wall to not make himself visible from outside. Vicky stares at him intently, still waiting impatiently for more explanation. But the sudden sound of a vehicle arriving in the clearing startles her and Finan growls a bunch of Irish insults when a white light starts to alight the room from outside.
“What’s that?” She asks him in panic as she stands up but he doesn’t answer.
Finan moves to knock at Osferth’s door, but it opens before, revealing the confused monk. The two men exchange a nervous gaze before taking Finan’s previous position against the wall. Sophie joins Vicky near the bed, her teeth biting nervously into her lips. They can hear the agitation outside, men shouting orders to encircle the house while the blinding car’s light keeps alighting the area.
“Are they the men that attacked you in London?” Osferth asks after glancing outside.
“I don’t know, but I doubt they want us any better.” Finan grumbles, his fingers scratching his beard nervously.
Victoria makes a step further to catch the men’s attention. “We need to get out of here.” She declares, even if it’s a pretty obvious fact to all of them.
“The house is encircled, Vicky.” Finan replies, his finger making a loop. “It’s too risky.”
“But we don’t die!” She frowns, ready to run away at any moment, not fearing the bullets that could reach her if the men are armed, which they undoubtedly are.
Finan’s jaw twitches at her sudden rise of confidence but he doesn’t have the time to contradict her when Osferth replies: “But Sophie does.”
The three immortals turn their eyes to the French who just looked at them alternatively. “Don’t look at me like that!” She orders them, hating to be their weak point.
Finan shakes his head and stares back at Vicky. “It would be too risky anyway. If they are good shooters, the time we’ll need to come back will be enough to get caught. We need a bet-”
A voice rising in the sudden calm outside stops Finan in his sentence.
“We don’t want you any harm!” A man shouts with what Vicky guesses is a light german accent. A simple look at the two warriors is enough to tell her that they already disbelieve him. Though, they don’t reply and listen as he continues to speak. “All we want is Victoria Davis. We know she’s here.”
Vicky’s breath runs short at the mention of her name, her heart beating faster in fear as memories of London come back to her, a shiver running down her spine when she remembers the cold edge of the gun against her temple. Finan mumbles a bunch of insults, trying to have a better look on the outside.
“Do you think it’s them again?” Osferth asks the Irishman again and this time his answer is more certain.
“It must be.”
Finan glances at Vicky, with a worry she didn’t expect but it clearly increases hers. She can’t understand what they want from her, and why when they are encircling Osferth’s house they aren’t even asking for him. Questions without answers multiply in her mind and she feels her lungs starting to have difficulties filling with air. The man outside speaks more urgently and Finan looks back to Osferth.
“They can hide in the basement and we just try to convince them that she’s not here.” Finan proposes, which sounds like a lopsided plan but also their only one.
“What if they take you instead?” Sophie questions them, her hand resting on Vicky’s shoulder to try to ease her.
“They don’t want us, maybe don't even know us, the worst they can do is to kill us which isn’t that much of a problem.” He wryly answers before turning to Osferth to have his opinion.
The monk agrees, seeing no better way and they head to the hatch leading to the basement. While Osferth opens it quickly, Vicky grabs Finan’s arm nervously. She is the reason for this whole situation, of the risk they are taking and she is hating that. She couldn’t bear it if something happened to one of them. Maybe she should just obey the man to keep them safe. But she has no idea of what they want from her, why she is so precious to them that they have to engage the great means. She thinks of it, balancing the pros and cons, her fingers tightening around Finan’s arm.
“Vicky?” His voice makes her blink, coming back to reality. Sophie is already climbing down the ladder, Osferth handing her the oil lamp. “It’s goin’ to be alright.” Finan takes her chin between his fingers to force her to look at him and he smiles confidently.
She wishes she has the time to tell him how unsure she is about this plan but he kisses her forehead softly before pushing her to the basement opening. She joins Sophie downstairs, the room illuminated by the only weak flame of the lamp. It’s cold and she wraps her arms around her chest while Osferth closes the hatch. They can hear them push what Vicky supposes is the bed over the opening and she can’t help but bite her inner jaw, if they don’t come back, they are both stuck here.
In the basement, the time seems to stretch. Victoria knows it’s been only a few minutes since they are here but she feels like she’s been staring at Sophie pacing the length of the room for an hour. Vicky would like to find the words to reassure her, but she’s tormented by her own worry. So she sits on the floor, her back against the wall and tries to listen to what's happening outside. But it’s barely possible, the stones muffling any voice. Though, they perfectly hear the shot resounding in the whole forest. Sophie stops suddenly, her hands covering her mouth while Vicky looks up to the ceiling as footsteps create a real cacophony. Her heart beats terribly hard in her chest. Is it one of the men who’s been shot? She doubts it, so it must be Finan or Osferth. She knows they’ll be both fine in the end, they must be, so she just tries to slow her breath, as if the men upstairs could hear her if she dares to breathe too loudly.
After too much time to both women’s opinion, the footsteps fade and engines sound arise before a complete silence finally settles. It lasts for long other minutes during which Vicky can even hear her heartbeats in her ears. Sophie still hasn’t moved from her spot, her teeth sinking into her index to calm her anxiety. When they finally hear the bed being pulled away from the hatch, they both let out a heavy sigh of relief and walk to the ladder.
“They are gone.” They hear Osferth say as he opens the door.
“Osferth!” Sophie climbs up first and Vicky is outside as well, the French is hugging the monk tightly, his arms around her waist. “Are you fine?” She asks him, her voice breaking after sobbing. She takes a step back to check herself if he is indeed healthy, and her face falls when she notices the blood on his clothes. “Mon Dieu, you’re bleeding!”
She tries to take a better look at his wound but he catches her hands. She glares at him and before she can protest he cuts her off with a soft kiss. It releases her shoulder from a part of the tension she’s been carrying and when he moves away she is smiling shyly. Though, Osferth's expression doesn’t ease, his brows slightly furrowed and jaw strongly clenched. Vicky notices it before Sophie and starts to look around, though she already knows the answer. Finan isn’t here and Osferth is the one having been shot. Her throat tightens and her eyes start to sting as she feels the tears filling them at each of her blinks.
“Where’s Finan?” She finally asks Osferth, her breath stopping until he dares to answer.
“I… I don’t know.” He says, looking down shamefully. “They killed me and when I came back, they were gone and Finan too.”
Vicky doesn’t even give him the time to finish his sentence when she starts to walk to the front door, stepping outside and ignoring the breeze that is wrapped into her clothes as she starts to call Finan. She shouts his name while walking around the house and in the forest until there’s too many tears in her eyes and sobs prevent her to breathe correctly. Her heart is aching, torn apart between despair and guilt, and she has to lean against a tree to not fall over. She stays there for a while, sitting in the mud until Sophie comes to fetch her to hide from the starting rain.
