Hawkwing's Journey Drinking Game:
Take a drink every time a non-cat animal attacks Skyclan
Take a drink every time a rogue(s) attacks Skyclan
Take a drink every time a cat dies
Take a drink every time a Skyclan cat leaves the clan (by choice or by intervention other than death)
Take a shot every time there's a new vision or prophecy
...on second thought, this is a surefire way to get alcohol poisoning. Maybe don't play this game.

Bumble's Curse AU (DOTC) (half-baked)
The Bullshit
I think what really annoys me about Bumble's death aside from the sexism and xenophobia and the sending her back to an abuser and not doing anything against Clear Sky is the fact that THEY AT LEAST COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING WITH IT.
Think about it. The first main character of the series was Rusty/Firestar, a kittypet who proved himself over and over in spite of his origins and became legend among the Clans.
Then we flashback to the creation of the Clans and have Bumble, who was rejected for her kittypet origins and.......nothing comes from it. Literally nothing reasonable.
What They Could Have Done
They could have still killed her, much as that scene absolutely sucked, if it was to intentionally show the Clans' xenophobia, to show the Clans' flaws and how that will eventually lead to Firestar changing things. But rejecting Bumble as a Clanmate was seen as a completely good thing??
Like they could have deliberately made their stories correlate in opposite directions.
So what if the Clans actually faced consequences for literally not helping Bumble when she was abused and leading her on the path of death?
I like the idea of her relating to water or ice, as that's the opposite of fire.
My Main Idea
She becomes a crying spirit, so distraught from her death and how she was treated by everyone--friends to enemies--in her life, that her ghost, if seen, is seen always crying
(cats can't cry, but in the books they shrug, show the whites of their eyes, have kits talk and open their eyes at like one day, so I think it's fine)
The emotions engulf her entirely, so that all she can feel in her death is utter sorrow. And because ~spirit powers~ those tears are the waters that flood SkyClan--the Clan that was founded by her killer. Because she sees how many kittypets reside in it, and if she wasn't so destroyed, so constricted in how she could feel as a spirit doomed to always feel only sadness, she would have been glad for them, she would have been happy!
But because she was a crying spirit, she could only cry at the unfairness of it. Why could they get the life that she had wished for herself?
And, as Patchpelt once said in Forest of Secrets: "I remember the last time the river overflowed, many moons ago. Cats from all Clans drowned. Prey drowned, too, and we went hungry even though our paws stayed dry. This is not just RiverClan's problem."
Maybe Bumble had to do with that flood as well? It's not seen in books, so it could have happened for a number of reasons. Maybe when Featherstorm met with a kittypet or had a kittypet's kits? Maybe, to tie them further, when Firestar was born and she could feel the prophecy, and knew of a kittypet that would be accepted into the Clans and become a wonderful leader?
As well, there's the flood in Bramblestar's Storm--though the kittypets join afterward. What if Benny was destined to become someone great, almost like Firestar, but this knowledge upset Bumble further, resulting in the flood.
As well, Shadowstar lost a life to drowning--and she was the leader to reject Bumble.
To make this short and not put in detail every water-related incident, here's a list of those that drowned, and thus could have possibly been killed (unintentionally and unknowingly) by Bumble:
Splashpaw [died offscreen in Dawn]
--
Woodkit + Robinkit [Leopardstar's Honour]
--
Tadpole [Tigerstar and Sasha] (kittypet that would have joined the Clans, as would Hawk and Moth, but they survived)
--
Lichenfur [Skyclan and The Stranger]
--
Flametail [Night Whispers]
--
Blackstar [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Seedpaw [Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Pebblefoot [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Grasspelt [offscreen in Bramblestar's Storm]
--
Snipkit [Hawkwing's Journey] (Skyclan + being chased away by someone who was once a kittypet possibly induced Bumble's crying??)
--
Juniperclaw -[AVOS]
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
You may say that Bumble's no killer, and I would agree with you! In this case, the deaths are not murders, Bumble is not killing them intentionally--she likely doesn't even realize that she's killing them at all.
She is constantly crying in her afterlife, and whenever she sees something that especially triggers the deep sorrow inside her (like something that reminds her of her own pain or the life she could have had), a flood results--and the flood could kill anyone that gets caught in it, regardless of if they, specifically, caused her sadness.
Then, what if someone--Firestar, Princess, Echosong, another kittypet or kittypet-turned warrior finds her, and breaks the trance that had engulfed Bumble for years?
And she realizes the monster that she had become, that she made herself into, that the Clans made her into--no, the Clan founders, because these cats alive now were innocent. Just like she was. and she breaks down. The numb exterior that had built after decades of living as a crying spirit shatters, and Bumble is Bumble again.
More ideally, everyone who killed/rejected her apologize deeply. Maybe she accepts, maybe she doesn't, she's just glad to have the pain mostly gone, because she spent too long suffering and making others suffer because of it, and she just wants to move on.
And together, they send a message to the Clans to not neglect help from anyone who may need it, regardless of where they come from, and to think twice before rejecting someone based solely on where they come from. -- At least then they could admit the whole xenophobia problem in Warriors and try to fix it.
--
This is still very wonky, especially that ending part. My brain is still fried to blackened ash from final exams, but I thought of this and wanted to get it out there.
I think Bumble would be more interesting of a character if she was, you know, a character and not a prop, written only to be abused, neglected, killed, and forgotten. And I think it would be interesting if the Clans' xenophobia was called out and dealt with instead of something that's treated as perfectly okay and normal.

Ok, AU five facts game: AU where all conflicts are solved with dance battles. Each society has its own style.
I am honored and alarmed that you chose me to fill this prompt. Let’s go on this journey together.
1. Cairhein traditionally does ballet. This really impressed the Aiel, who do a form of modern dance that evolved out of ballet and know a thing or two about stamina themselves. Then King Laman cut the joint arts funding that had bound their cultures together for hundreds of years. This is the cause of the Aiel War.
2. Andor is all about high-kicking you in the face. Just jumping up and down super high and kicking. Elayne scandalizes her court by dressing the Queen’s Guards like chorus dancers performing the cha-cha. Mat innovates on this model by also kicking really low, kicking really fast, and adding percussion.
3. Seanchan brings the marching band to Mardhol and nothing is ever the same again. Exotic brass instruments, such as tubas, kill thousands. Their flawless formations scatter only at the sight of Artur Hawkwing himself, bannered across the field at Falme, playing air guitar at them to accompany Mat on the French Horn of Valere.
4. The White Tower’s signature style evolved from DDR, with quick combinations of repeated movements that stack for combat bonuses. The test for the shawl was once conducted entirely on a DDR mat, but the passage of time has led to a more ritualized version that only bears a few symbolic vestiges of the original, such as visual path and level markers, memorized movement sequences, & specific posture requirements.
5. In Far Madding, only the men dance, and they are forbidden to use their arms while doing so. We would recognize their dance as the Worm.

Darkest Night Diagnosis: F
I think that's our first F tier. Should I be making a tierlist. Whatever.
I think this book singlehandedly killed the Warriors hyperfix, for better or for worse. I will now be significantly slower with this reread because of this book.
Look... as frustrating and bad as Apprentice's Quest, Thunder and Shadow, and Hawkwing's Journey were, they had redeeming elements. Sparkpaw is a joy when shes doing things in the Apprentice's Quest. Twigkit and Violetkit's tragic relationship is really compelling in like a meta way in Thunder and Shadow. And while that first half is god awful tedious bullshit, the second half of Hawkwing's Journey when they're actually on said journey gets really interesting, and it also had Curlypaw who is the best character.
There's... nothing like that in Darkest Night. I was bored and annoyed and miserable from start to finish. Nothing got my creative juices flowing. Nothing got me thinking about how the plot could be compelling with certain headcanons without just changing the entire thing. There is like one nice scene with Sparkpelt talking about Larksong to Alderheart and it's sandwiched in between Alder screaming at her for emasculating him and pointing out her being ooc for the sake of being a strawman, and then her getting brutalized by a dog so Alderheart can win his pride back. It's not an offensive book but it is mind numbingly boring. It's an unbearably slow read and most of it is spent meandering about.
Characters like Sparkpelt are twisted from their original portrayal for the sake of contrivances. SkyClan is miserable. Mistystar is made into an idiot for the plot to work. Things just happen without rhyme or reason. Barely anything of actual substance even happens and the things that do happen are contrived and aggravating to read about.
I know Warriors doesn't really have intentional themes, and the consistent ones are.... really, really bad. But it felt like at every turn, this book was contradicting itself, Twigpaw's arc being the biggest example. I've said it over and over, but the way this arc is trying to claim a cute found family story with Twigpaw and ThunderClan is so jarring. We're just supposed to accept that ThunderClan was good to her because... they're ThunderClan. They're The Good Ones. Every clan is awful and weird and bad compared to ThunderClan. No Matter What. Please don't talk about all the times her clanmates called her deadweight and considered kicking her out bc of her heritage if she wasn't a prophet.
And they can't even commit to "found family vs blood family" either. They hook Twigpaw up with her adoptive brother and dismiss his adoption as never having been all that important in the face of his "real" family. They dismiss and downplay Twigpaw's biological relationship with Tinycloud and her new litter for the sake of emphasizing that Twig is alone (while contrasting Violetpaw meeting Cherrytail and Hawkwing's nobody sisters). And they ship off Hawkwing and Violetpaw for most of the book so that Twigpaw can talk about how alone she feels and how it's so sad that Jayfeather isn't verbally abusing her anymore. If anyone thinks that Twigbranch has a compelling found family relationship with ThunderClan and her arc is about grappling with chosen family vs biological family, they didn't actually read the book.
And you see this with Alderheart and Sparkpelt too, sort of. They're trying to go "xenophobia is bad! Alderheart and Sparkpelt are split over their political differences!" But the book only sees Sparkpelt as bad because they've deemed xenophobia against SkyClan specifically as a bad thing. Alderheart's dismissiveness and hatred of kittypets is not only not questioned, but reinforced several times. So it's kind of weird that people paint this as like a thing where Sparkpelt is uniquely bad when Alderheart is arguably a whole lot worse, but hes not xenophobic to a clannnn. So it doesn't count I guess.
Speaking of Sparkpelt though, wow I can't blame her for wanting SkyClan gone, because I don't give a fuck about these nobodies either. They are so boring, put them back in the gorge so I don't have to keep reading about them please <3 I don't care about Leafstar or Hawkwing or any of these guys. I don't even have that much to say about them, they're just annoying and boring and I wish they'd go away forever.
Anyways, first F tier book. First book where I was just bored and miserable the whole time. I don't expect AVoS to get better from here. In fact, poll time.
If I get no, I'll just read the wiki summaries, and maybe seek out specific passages from the pdfs. Yes is for reading the whole thing.

Is Sharpclaw one of the cats who get crushed by Tree!Brokenstar?
He was <3
I am also changing the exchange in Hawkwing's Journey where Darktail has his "Join me Hawkwing and together we will rule the Gorge as Me and Some Guy" speech. That was Sharpclaw.
SHARPCLAW was the one telling Hawkwing to rule the Gorge with him. He was usurping Leafstar. More Clan villains, please, less "scary outsiders do evil things."
Major theme of the rewrite; Being Authoritarian Is Bad.
Rockshade was another one of them btw; and Rockshade is probably going to be Sharpclaw's apprentice instead of Cherrytail to fix the mentor/apprentice pairing.

BLAZING SKY AU: LIST OF RENAMES
Previous name (origin) → Rename (reason)
I usually avoid AU's that change the names of well known characters, and renaming them myself, since I find tend to find it confusing.
However, one of the things that bothers me the most is the name repetition. No canon, I most definitely do not want two Tigerstar's.
For this AU, I will change the names of as few characters as possible, while trying to avoid repetition. For example, if there are two characters named Brownfur, one of them will have a name change, and become Brownpelt.
Previous name (origin) → Rename (reason)
Princess (Firestar's sister) → Creekshine (joins a Clan)
Smudge (Into the Wild) → Smudgespot (joins a Clan)
Oliver (Princess' mate) → Icestorm (joins a Clan)
Rainfur (SkC) → Rainbloom (conflict)
Frecklewish (SkC) → Frecklewing (conflict)
Mintfur (SkC) → Mintbloom (conflict)
Duskpaw (Hawkwing's Journey) → Sunpaw (worldbuilding)
Cloudmist → Dawnmist (to avoid repetition of prefixes)
Hillkit (Missing Kits) → Hillrunner (save)
Downkit (Missing Kits) → Downwind (save)
Mosspaw (ShC) → Mossclaw (Brokenstar)
Violetpaw (ShC) → Violetthorn (Brokenstar)
Dawnpaw (ShC) → Dawnstrike (Brokenstar)
Mintkit (ShC) → Mintpool (save/Brokenstar)
Blossomkit (ShC) → Blossomfrost (save/Brokenstar)
Stumpytail → Stumptail (wouldn't get mamed for an injury he was born with)
Tornear → Torear (very minor injury to be named after)
Swankit (Missing Kits) → Swansong (save)
This is a draft, so it's possible names will be added, but it's the general idea.

So. Let me get this straight.
You get mad at people who dislike Snowbird + Scorchfur because "We don't know Scorchfur's age" despite the latter being an apprentice in PO3 and a warrior in OOTS and Snowbird is much older at that point so we kind of do, and let's say you're right and we don't know his age.
Yet when we don't actually know a character's age (Rain), you claim Rain and Needletail "gross and creepy" bc age when for all we know he could be her age. I don't like either ship, but you can't use that argument for one ship then when we actually don't know a character's age you claim it to be weird.
-inhales- this shit again
first of all
i don't get mad at people who don't like scorchfur x snowbird
i don't get mad at anyone for not liking a ship because i'm a grown adult with more important things to do and better ways to spend my time and energy
what i got mad at
MONTHS ago by the way, so if you're still stuck on that why are you still following me, unless you specifically just stalk this blog waiting to find something to get pissed off about and make a fuss like a bored 12 year old that's desperate for some form of attention
was that in my /rewrite/ i literally had scorchfur and snowbird being the same age and some people got pissed about me still having it in MY rewrite, as well as MY headcanon that scorchfur was a former kittypet who joined shadowclan to specifically be with snowbird, hence why he had an apprentice NAME, because canonically in the books we don't know where scorchfur came from, he was never listed as a kit, he's never mentioned to have parents or any other kin, he just poofed into existence in like long shadows i think it was
and i prefer, instead of actively making my warrior cats experience WORSE by assuming the worst, i headcanon things that make sense and also make things like this LESS gross and creepy, that scorchfur was an adult already when he joined shadowclan, he was an adult apprentice, he was an adult with the -paw suffix because he was training to be a shadowclan warrior after he decided to join shadowclan to be with snowbird and their kits, i simply prefer to have my wholesome headcanon instead of jumping to conclusions of what could or could not be a mistake or oversight on the erins' part or the erin's being stupid and fucked up again
and as for the rain thing, we KNOW he's not needletail's age, you know why? because rain was with darktail in hawkwing's journey, rain was already darktail's right hand man in hawkwing's journey, they had known each other for "some time" already, and mind you that this all takes place MOONS before avos even starts, skyclan is lost wandering in search of the clans for like at least a fucking year or more, this would be moons before needletail was even BORN
another thing would be if needletail had been an adult when they met, but she was literally a young apprentice when she joined the group to find skyclan, she was alderpaw's age MAYBE a moon older, and when they met rain was immediately being flirty with her, i remember reading the book years ago and getting that gross feeling in my stomach, and also when the kin followed them to the lake, needlepaw was STILL an apprentice while rain and her continued to flirt and it was very obvious that they were a thing or "courting" or whatever you want to call it while needlepaw was still an apprentice, we see this ON SCREEN, it's not just in an allegiances section that is screwed up all the time, it's not implied, it's not an if/ands/or buts situation it is literally IN the books plain as day, as a PLOT POINT, typed out through 3 whole books of rain flirting with needlepaw and grooming her to be with him and to join the kin
these two things are completely different, we have so much more in-context, inflexible information on rain and needletail that cannot be worked around unless you want to rewrite it ENTIRELY, but it cannot be headcanoned out because canon is very direct in what happens in this case
the kind of information that does not exist with scorchfur and snowbird
thank you and have a nice day, please go find something else better to do with your time

siiiigghhh look i know the erins are terrible at conflict resolution and portraying female characters feelings as important like i get that and i agree that the writing is super misogynistic. i even agree that hawkwings journey was super unfair to pebbleshine and did not allow her to properly come to terms w her own trauma like it did w hawkwing. but ive been seeing a lot of ppl compare hawkwing to brambleclaw and that just. doesnt sit right w me.
like i agree hawkwings treatment of pebbleshine while hes angsting over duskpaws death is wrong. he acts out of spite bc hes hurt and angry and wants to take it out on her. he tells her he wishes she had died instead of duskpaw. thats bad. we know that its bad, even tho he apologizes for it. but in his case its coming from a place of trauma and projection (which, AGAIN, doesnt make it ok), whereas brambleclaws treatment of squirrelflight has never come from a place of grieving or unhealthy coping mechanisms, hes literally mean to her bc hes always seen her as annoying. he doesnt respect her, he sees her as always contradicting him, as trying to control him, as being a liar who keeps secrets from him, as someone who he cant trust. from the beginning brambleclaw has had no legitimate reason for his cruelty toward squirrelflight. he is abusive to her bc hes always seen her as being lesser, as not respecting him, so therefore in his mind he doesnt respect her.
hawkwing did and said horrible things to pebbleshine while he was mourning, yes. pebbleshine was treated unfairly by the narrative, yes. they shouldnt have been in a relationship in the first place, yes. but hawk does not deserve to be compared to brambleclaw when bramble has always been consistently abusive to squirrelflight for increasingly petty/hypocritical reasons, whereas hawkwing, while certainly not in the right, acted out of grief. again, this does not necessarily mean you have to sympathize w him (even tho the narrative wants u to), but it makes him different from brambleclaw based on that alone. do w that what u will.

Hello!
I started reading the series this year out of pure curiosity so I'm very new to Warriors. I just finished the first four arcs of Warriors + The Apprentice's Quest and while there are a lot of things I didn't like about the series there's something about it that just makes me want to see what happens. In particular I liked OotS a lot and I'm really looking forward to the rest of AVoS,
My question is: is it worth reading any of the novellas, super editions or mangas as someone who has 0 nostalgia for the series? I have been told that they contradict a lot of things and/or retell things we already saw so they don't sound like a great time. Yellowfang and Hollyleaf are my favorites so far and I heard how bad Yellowfang's Secret was. I considered checking out Hollyleaf's Story but I'm not sure if it's worth my time after hearing all this.
it's a mixed bag and honestly up to what you find personally enjoyable in the series, wc side books have some good stuff and some bad stuff. if you like journey books then you'll like some of these, if you enjoy more dialogue than action then you'll like some, it really is up to preference! my own recommendations would just be to skip whatever doesn't sound interesting to you if you're not interested in reading everything lol but if you would like some recommendations:
(this got long sorry lol)
for super editions, bluestar's prophecy is a fine book, if you're interested in an in-depth exploration of bluestar's life and a better understanding of some bg characters in tpb then i'd recommend it! while the core conflict and relationships are weak when you think about it, i think it does well enough in selling the situation that you can give it some suspension of disbelief
crookedstar's promise is arguably the best written with great conflict and some great relationships. it's popular for a reason and i think it earns the hype it has in the fandom as a solid book. it's flimsy in some parts but it does better than expected when compared to usual wc books.
i'm tentative to put tallstar's revenge simply because i actually don't think it deserves a lot of the hype it gets lol the conflict is weak, the resolution is disappointing, and jake doesn't get nearly enough spotlight imo however if you like travelling books and want some more books that talk about windclan culture and history, i recommend this one simply for the worldbuilding!
uhhh for more like supplementary reading, firestar's quest is fine (with some creepy romance conflict) and does well enough for what it has to do. i haven't read hawkwing's journey (and haven't heard good things) so i can't comment too much on it but i think, even though i haven't read it, i would recommend tigerheart's shadow as both avos reading and a general understanding of his character for the newer arcs
everything else i havent read or did not like lol
for novellas, i actually enjoyed hollyleaf's story! it's a contained narrative about hollyleaf dealing with everything and if you don't mind a lot of talking and reminiscing with some not subtle writing, it's a decent character piece.
cloudstar's journey is a sombre novella and for that i recommend it, i love the interactions in it and the growing desperation of the characters. if that doesn't sound appealing to you, feel free to skip but if it does, then i recommend!
mapleshade's vengeance aka the scourge of fandom discourse is a fun read, absolutely recommend. it's nothing new or original but it's great to have a protagonist who just fucks shit up.
pinestar's choice another interesting read, pinestar as a character is divisive (for a lot of reasons) but on its own, i think it's really interesting. there's some great moments where he reflects on the clan and i wish there were more moments like that in the series!
blackfoot's reckoning what if god tortured you psychologically with your own memories? very enjoyable even if it isn't that meaningful in the long run
and moving onto the mangas, i actually recommend them all? i love graphic novels, manga, manwha, webtoons, etc. so i'm quite biased towards any visual book and will enjoy myself reading them lol but for more detailed thoughts:
the rise of scourge is a classic for a reason, solid villain origin story.
graystripe's adventure or whatever it calls itself is...fine, it's a fun little adventure trip that gets you invested in graystripe and millie's relationship as well as showing how he got home. if you want a low stakes adventure comic series, check it out.
ravenpaw's path is just a little post-bloodclan adventure for him. if you want to see more of ravenpaw and barley or see what happened to bloodclan after the darkest hour, check this out!
tigerstar & sasha is contentious series, some people like it and others don't. i enjoyed it as a bleak trio of novels, i genuinely feel so bad for sasha :( if you can get past the wonky art then i recommend it!
skyclan and the stranger is...mixed, it's got some nice background designs. if you like gorge skyclan or a certain eclipse antagonist then i'd recommend, just don't expect anything amazing.
a shadow in riverclan has a strong start, a weak ending, and some very confusing characterization if you read the new prophecy after lol i enjoyed feathertail's struggle and would recommend it simply if you want some acknowledgement for whatever the fuck happened in tigerclan
winds of change is an excellent standalone manga that highlights mudclaw's perspective during the windclan rebellion in tnp, it's enjoyable and while he's definitely not in the right, you do understand his perspective a little more after it.
exile from shadowclan is one i'd recommend just for the art, the way james barry utilizes shadow and the landscape is great and i found myself looking at the pages more for the artwork than the story at times! while it's wonky and has some...really weird choices, i'd just read it if you're interested more in brokenstar's reign over shadowclan.
aaannddd those are my recommendations! apologies it got a little long, i wanted to ramble lol i'm probably not the best person to ask since i havent read everything but i appreciate you reaching out nonetheless! hope you find something you like :)

What didn’t you like about Skyclan’s destiny?
A lot honestly unfortunately- my main problem with it is just that I find it very boring, I’ve read this book at least 3 times and it’s always a chore for me to get through that I feel obligated to because of a whole series reread. To me the main plot isn’t engaging and it’s just far too drawn out, don’t get me wrong I love myself some good character moments but there just aren’t many in this book, everything is just so painfully drawn out to me.
Aside from that:
Stick. I hate Stick. A lot. And he gets his own POV chapters which I honestly find even less interesting than the rest of the book.
I can’t stand Sharpclaw in this book and how he just undermines Leafstar at every turn with absolutely no consequences. It makes Leafstar seem weak and I really hate how he gets away with it, and it’s not like it’s just him, it’s half the clan going along with it too - they know Leafstar doesn’t know. Leafstar just loses control of her clan to Sharpclaw and it isn’t treated like the big deal it should be in terms of consequences. It’s not like Leafstar wouldn’t have gone along with it, Sharpclaw was just undermining her because he could.
On the same vein as making Leafstar seem weak, she just completely accepts these outsiders no questions asked. I get she’s new to leadership but still she should have common sense
The plot just seems very pointless. I don’t get why the book exists as it is. What was gained from this stories existence?
Although I will be fair and give the things I do like to balance out the negatives a little
The prologue
Egg
Shrewtooth
Leafstar losing a life to save some babies
To me this book is just an overall boring and infuriating read I’m afraid. This book made me hate SkyClan for years, fortunately Hawkwing’s Journey changed my mind- now SkyClan is my second favourite clan (after RiverClan). But this isn’t a book I will ever read on its own willingly unless I’m doing a whole series reread.

They give us a Onestar super edition x_x my God, I'd rather have another super edition that retreads over the entire first series again. Or a Reedwhisker super edition, if they won't do Mistystar! I'd even take a Shadepelt super edition...
i got mixed feelings.
i'm upset because between onestar and mistystar, mistystar has a MUCH more interesting story wrt avos (for a super edition). everything is laid out for onestar. the interest in how it happened is kind of...nothing. it'd maybe make for a good novella, but even that is pushing it.
but just because there's low interest doesn't mean it's a bad story: it's a good story, it's just that there are more worthwhile stories to be telling.
on the other hand, i think yearly super editions are a mistake. there just aren't that many interesting stories to tell.
firestar's quest, bluestar's prophecy, and skyclan's destiny are all three stories we had no other way of hearing. fsq and scd are new, and bsp is expanding massively on a very interesting story from forest of secrets.
crookedstar's promise, yellowfang's secret, and tallstar's revenge are all expanding on hypothetical questions about these three figures from tpb. csp adds something that's unnecessary, but that makes a great story edition; yfs adds something that's unnecessary but bad (even if VERY interesting for fic writing purposes); tsr gives us a whole ass new plot to explain something very minor, and the world is better for it.
and then:
bramblestar's storm is a bad book.
moth flight's vision was a great book, we stan an adhd queen.
hawkwing's journey was good, but unnecessary.
tigerheart's shadow is a book i loved but almost no one else did. i mean i can't say i like everything but it's fun read. anyway, overall it had a mixed impact.
crowfeather's trial, from what i've heard, is pretty decent in terms of how it treats characters, but a terrible plot. i refuse to read it, much as i want more of ashfoot.
squirrelflight's hope is the only warriors book i've ever regretted paying money for.
greystripe's vow is for some reason interchangeable in my brain with the greystripe graphic novel. i haven't read either of them, but my brain tells me i have read his super edition, despite it not having been published when i think i've read it, and so i've also read his graphic novel, and wait the point of this wasn't for me to explain my weird quirk about gsv. uh. anyway i think it's kind of neutral: it added good things while having minimal implications for warriors, other than grey being a dick to squirrel for no reason, but that was already in tbc.
leopardstar's honour, based on my first impressions, will be more in line w csp/yfs/tsr, in that it's...expanding on stories we can piece together by ourselves, but hopefully in a new and exciting way.
again i haven't read it yet please don't put spoilers in my inbox. i'm aware i say this every time i talk about this book however every time i haven't, people have. so. don't do that.
what i'm trying to say is most of the recent super editions haven't had a story to tell. oh, they've found a story, but it's not one we would have otherwise cared about. and that's the problem like.
reedwhisker's fantastic, he doesn't have a story. etc.

Read Darkness Within all in one sitting last night and then passed out so here are my scattered thoughts i wrote down as i read, (afterthoughts in parenthesis)
Darkness Within Spoilers, obv
UGH GOD THE SECOND HAND EMBARRESMENT FROM SQUIRREL FAKE FLIRTING WITH ASHFUR IT HURTS
Just remembered Sandynose died and got a small boost of happiness (will Hawkwing and Plumwillow ever be allowed to talk again now? I mean probly not b/c they aren’t protags and non-protags don’t rly have friends but I can hope. Sorry, Hawkwhing and Plumwillow’s short-lived friendship in Hawkwings Journey was one of the last times I felt something)
Ghost fleas lol
Mothwing: i’m rude now. (but more importantly, Fuck Tigerheartstar for forcing his son to be around the cat that hurt him so badly, like he HAS to know how upset everyone is regarding Shadowsight and his accidentally helping the imposter, and he’s making him be the sole one to tend to him??? There is NO REASON Puddleshine couldn’t have done it. You think Puddleshine is going to try and murder someone?? )
Oh no don't make this a traveling book, and a ROOTBRISTLE traveling book this is going to be insufferable
BACON AND EGGS
Lightleap Is Good (Hey didn’t Shadowsight have another sister? lets be real we all knew Pouncekit was going to end up as the forgettable 3rd one)
Bristlefrost’s crush continues to feel unnatural to me. It’s like she’s grasping at straws romanticizing the most generic things.....wow....I love how ur just so...bare minimum competent....being polite to the loner we came all this way to ask for help like any somewhat reasonable person would....How admirable...I love the way you just *clenches fist* exhibit some basic traits of loyalty and skill that literally every warrior has (I s2g I’m this close to head canon-ing Bristle as a clueless aromantic who doesn't understand what romance is actually suppose to feel like so she just looks at feelings of low-bar admiration and assumes “oh I guess this is that “romantic attraction” everyone’s always talking about? guess I must be in love???” because both her crushes have felt out of nowhere and like. Idk fake/forced sounding like she’s just telling me that that she’s In Love Now while I continue to not actually feel it at all from her end. I know it’s just that I hate the way Erin’s write female characters in love but this head-canon makes me laugh)
Got scared because I thought they were going to villainize Spotfur for not wanting kits for a minute, but also excited at the concept of maybe exploring a female character that doesn’t want to be a mother, but it turns out she was just pulling a Sparkpelt and actually DID want the kits all along and was only hesitant because she’s sad. Shrug oh well.  (the only female character in warriors that was distinctly upset about pregnancy and motherhood was Lizardstripe and as we all know she was eeeeeevil and abusive and “overly ambitious” because why else would you not come around to being happy about motherhood?? YES I’M STILL SALTY ABOUT YELLOWFANG’S SECRET, BAD BOOK)  Whatever it’s fine so long as Spot doesn’t lose her rebel leader spirit forever and default to “soft mom” personality for the rest of her life, I gotta have hope because I actually like Bristle and Spot’s current relationship. Also I am actually very grateful they never made Bristle resentful at Spot for getting with her crush, as lots of middle grade/YA media has a very bad habit of demonizing female romantic “competition” and its super gross, so I rly do like that Bristlefrost is so protective and caring towards her instead. )
This series is trying to tell me that Rootspring is actually Big but I refuse to accept that. he has dumb scrawny bitch energy and we all know it
Sunrise: “Thunderclan may be better with a new leader” lol go off (i mean........they right tho...It’s unfortunate that the tension in this whole plot is a bit dampened by the fact that i DO in fact want bramble to die v badly. I don’t even have special hatred for him, I’m just bored of him.)
Yes Lionblaze beat the shit out of Ashfur
*HOLY SHIT THAT’S FUCKED!!!! (I wrote this in reference to the ghost summoning scene, this was all I could manage at the time, that scene was WILD and I am VIBING WITH THE HORROR OF IT ALL)
* Brashfur: Oh yeah? Could Ashfur fake THIS? *stands up with slightly better posture* Shadowsight: oh damn you got me there...... (asdfhhfhhgh im sorry that was really funny, how did that prove anything?? ONLY A ~REAL~ WARRIOR COULD STAND UP STRAIGHT WE ALL KNOW ASHFUR IS INCAPABLE OF GOOD POSTURE!)
End of the book: *LAUGHING NERVOUSLY* WHAT THE FUCK??? (I thought he was just gonna kill Squirrelflight right there holy shit can you imagine the RIOTS that would ensue in the wake of all this Squirrel/Bramble discourse I was so scared for a second.
But it’s fine, she just....went to super hell instead......Warriors has come so far lmao WHAT IS HAPPENING
Final Notes:
*On Mothwing, I don’t think her behavior struck me as “CHARACTER BUTCHERING” as much as it did for other people? I mean.....Warriors fans will say that literally any time a character does ANYTHING less then perfectly nice I think her actions just seemed that much harsher because we are reading from Shadowsight’s POV, and Shadowsight is taking everything 10x more personally right now (understandably so, but Mothwing isn’t inside his head) she wasn’t trying to hurt him. Also... like... Shadowsight DID get his name too early. It’s not Mothwing’s job to put his feelings above everything else, she’s not even his mentor, Puddleshine on the other hand, as his main mentor, I don’t understand what his deal is ignoring Shadowsight, that’s not how you help an apprentice but I suppose I chalk many of his mistakes up to also not being the most experienced medicine cat (he barely even had his own mentor.) Maybe he’s distant because he feels guilty and actually blames himself for not guiding Shadowsight better?? the two of them haven’t communicated about it yet so idk
any way I give Mothwing a pass to be a little short tempered right now as a cat who has had her abilities periodically questioned all her life no matter how hard she works or how much experience she has, just because she doesn’t vibe with the spiritual cult side of the clans, I can understand why she’s a bit defensive of being questioned and frustrated watching so much hurt happen Yet Again due to reliance on StarClan visions over common sense, and I for one still stan her for slandering StarClan and refusing to accept Mistystar’s bullshit banishing like everyone else. Sometimes a character is at the end of their rope and can’t manage to be 100% nice 24/7 and that’s maybe not inherently bad writing? idk just my hot take. At a certain point we all gotta reckon with the fact that our perception of most popular supporting characters in heavily colored by fanon and we can’t always get mad at the authors for not adhering to it
*The sisters magic shit is my fav worldbuilding warriors has had in AGES, I love the way it’s described and it actually feels like it adds something to this world. I love this horror imagery with the ghosts, very excited for that.
*still won’t be thrilled if Ashfur is working alone, because his motive doesn’t make sense right now. I mean the trying to get Squilf thing, sure, whatever, but the “I will make everyone pay for what they did to me”???? cause like?? Who??? they didn’t do anything to him?? Ashfur’s grievance was very specifically JUST Squilf. He has no other cause for revenge, he had no other beef or complaints about the clans to my knowledge? The cat that killed him is dead, and she’s like, the only other one that I could see as having “wronged” him?? I guess he also didn’t like Firestar much according to Graystripe’s Vow (and on account of how willing he was to kill him w/ Hawkfrost) but Firestar is ALSO dead. I don’t understand his angle. Will have to see last 2 books to judge i suppose.
*All in all I am interested to see where this is going!! but also the pacing as I feared is becoming a major issue. It’s better then ending the main conflict on book 3 like Vision of Shadows did, but omg. Hardly anything happened in all these pages. I realized I was over half way through and nothing about the situation had actually CHANGED or advanced at all in all that time. Similar to the past 2 books which I believe could have been combined, this plot felt like it should have been the first half of a book. Discussing whether or not to kill the imposter isn’t much of a standalone plot, it’s just the set up to a plot. Finding the sisters didn’t need to be a whole long thing, the debates about the Imposters fate didn’t need to be repeated 10 times, all those chapters illustrating that “Shadowsight is sad” were also drawn out, repetitive, and interchangeable, we probably only needed 2 or so chapters showing his struggles to get the necessary information across. It felt like a lot of padding, it was really slow and I did a lot of skimming. I am still very interested in the overarching plot and mystery behind the ghosts so that kept me reading but man this “will they won’t they kill him” plot did not justify it’s own whole book. Alas this is a persisting issue that will never be resolved while they continue to force 6 books into 1 series that doesn’t need 6 books. I’m sure the writers are doing the best they can with these unfortunate constraints but still, it’s a wonder this slow padding isn’t more of a detriment to their younger readers that the books are supposed to be marketed to.

Here’s something I ALWAYS loved the idea of:
Darktail killed Sol.
I know Sol is great in terms of he was a new kind of villain, but idk for me he always seemed like some con artist, someone who was always trying to be better than they were (in a way that was pathetic instead of likeable).
Skyclan and The Stranger only made him seem like a whiny brat.
And there was the comment somewhere, likely from one of the Erins, saying that Sol and Darktail crossed paths.
So what if Sol tried to manipulate him? What if Sol pictured Darktail as lower than him, as someone new to do things for him? What if he went too far and realized the hard way that as villainous as he was, his evilness was no match for someone capable of murder.
To go further, they both have two things in common (assuming Sol’s story to Leafstar was truthful): they were both abandoned by their fathers, and they were both rejected by a Clan.
So maybe they really did become something like friends. Maybe they both thought of each other as the other’s pawn but grew affection, affection that would end when one of them goes too far.
Or maybe it ended with more hesitation. Perhaps Darktail really did come to care for Sol, but for some reason had to kill him because his goal was too important and Sol living put a risk to that, much like Toad in Hawkwing’s Journey.
Anyways, yeah that’s my headcanon. Sol is dead and, for whatever reason, was killed by Darktail. I personally also like to imagine that Darktail goes “you think you’re diabolical? Do you know how many bodies lay beneath my claws?” and that Sol has a moment of “shit”

leafpool and/or echosong? :3c!!
ivdf Two wonderful soft girls, heck yes! owo
Leafpool
Sexuality Headcanon: Bisexual, big disaster bi energy, Leafpool is weak for buff ladies who could kick her ass
Gender Headcanon: She/her, cis female
A ship I have with said character: Who don’t I ship with Leafpool? Mothpool is a big one, but I also love me some Sorreltail/Leafpool and of course Nightcloud/Leafpool/Feathertail is excellent
A BROTP I have with said character: Sorreltail & Leafpool is a great one for BROTP too,
A NOTP I have with said character: I used to be a huge Bramble/Leaf shipper back in the day and now nope nope nope nope nope, stay away, gross. Other than that I’m pretty open for Leafpool ships
A random headcanon: Leafpool isn’t actually very close to either of her parents. She’s the quiet child, always doing as she’s told (ya know, except that one time) while her sister loudly gets into trouble (no hate, Squilf is beautiful and doing her best 💗) so she’s always been a little pushed aside her whole life, hence another reason why the Crowfeather thing happened.
General Opinion over said character: Leafpool is easily my favourite warriors character, I love this girl and she deserved better Erin Hunter. She’s dead but give her sister some justice while she’s still alive damnit!
Echosong
Sexuality Headcanon: Lesbian
Gender Headcanon: She/her, cis female
A ship I have with said character: LEAF/ECHO omg the fact they killed her off in a book I still haven’t read kills me, AND its the same book they killed Leafstar’s husband in I just- someone give that woman a hug istg
A BROTP I have with said character: I have to be honest I don’t remember too many SkyClan cats from Firestar’s Quest/pre-Hawkwing’s Journey, so none
A NOTP I have with said character: I remember the idea of Darktail/Echosong floating around for a little while as an idea for Twigbranch and Violetshine’s parents and I’m glad that’s not the case - Echosong deserves better than that!
A random headcanon: She’s a former member of the Sisters. She left them when she started having dreams about StarClan and joined SkyClan but she doesn’t like to talk about it because leaving her family for another group, even though it’s your ‘destiny’...ow
General Opinion over said character: I adore Echosong, other than Leafstar she was my favourite SkyClan cat back when they were first introduced in Firestar’s Quest. I wish she’d lived to see the other clans and the Lake territory
Thanks for the ask friend! 💗

skyclan — year three — greenleaf
that's right, skyclan is up!
skyclan actually has a fairly easy to track history, despite the massive gaps between skyclan and the stranger and hawkwing's journey, leaving me with only one or two holes to patch, and a few assumptions. that said, i'm not going to do the thing i did for the other where i explain why everyone is their age, because it's literally all pulled out of my imagination. there is no backing for any ages that aren't like. if the cats weren't born, i don't know how old they are, i'm inferring. so instead of doing that, i'm just going to establish who's here, and you can wait for allegiances for ages.
anyway, we've got:
leafstar
sharpclaw
echosong
patchfoot
shortwhisker
rainfur
petalnose
sparrowpaw
cherrypaw
clovertail
tinykit
bouncekit
rockkit
and the plots of firestar's quest are the same, except it's fireheart's quest.

Graystripe’s Vow
A quick overview, chapter summaries.
31 chapters + prologue + epilogue + manga
Prologue - FQ
BloodClan is planning on getting revenge on Firestar’s Quest era ThunderClan. They are lead by a new leader, Fury.
Gremlin is worried about this, since she is pregnant and doesn’t want to hurt her kits.
Chapter 1 - TBC
Graystripe is realizing he’s old.
Lionblaze looks like Sandstorm, Spotfur has Frostfur’s face, (Frostfur is Ravenpaw’s sibling.)
Thriftear, Thornclaw, Snaptooth, Flywhisker and others disrespect Squirrelflight because she’s not technically leader.
Squirrelflight talks with Graystripe about being deputy/leader. “You can say it, Graystripe. In many ways, Firestar’s ThunderClan was better... at least things seemed easier.”
Graystripe worries about StarClan returning.
Chapter 2 - TBC
Graystripe dreams about being in the (lake) forest with Firestar. The dream turns and Graystripe feels dread. Graystripe imagines Millie and “talks” it out with her. (...) Graystripe asks Brackenfur if “this is the same ThunderClan as Firestar’s ThunderClan.” Brackenfur says it is.
Plumstone and Thriftear get into a fight. They both call Graystripe (and StarClan) an “out-of-date boomer” (exact quote /j) then Thornclaw, Twigbranch and Lionblaze argue about if Squirrelflight is leader or deputy. Bumblestripe, and then Bristlefrost try to break up the fight but fail. Squirrelflight ends up begging them to stop :(
Flipclaw suggests they rewrite the warrior code while StarClan is gone. The Clan flips out and Flipclaw then says maybe he wants to spend some time outside of the Clan. Snaptooth agrees, Flywhisker agrees, and Thornclaw agrees.
Graystripe decides to “wander” with them. Squirrelflight feels betrayed. She gives them a moon to return.
Chapter 3 - FQ
Graystripe ponders life. Willowpelt, his mother, has died. (...) He overhears Brightheart and Ferncloud doubting the purpose of Firestar’s Quest. (not the book, just why Firestar left.) Ashfur and Cloudtail also think Firestar left to live as a kittypet. Mousefur trusts that Firestar isn’t a kittypet, but wants to know where he is.
Cinderpelt yells at Ashfur. (...)
Brambleclaw, Thornclaw and Brackenfur bring Graystripe a dead rabbit with WindClan scent found on their territory (near fourtrees.) Graystripe decides to do nothing about this but increase border patrols, much to the chagrin of the Clan.
Graystripe goes to sleep with troubled thoughts, and is awoken by somebody screaming.
Chapter 4 - TBC
Graystripe and the boys decide to stop and hunt while they are still in the territory. Hawkwing and a SkyClan patrol appear. Snaptooth spills the beans and embarresses Graystripe and the others.
Flywhisker asks if Graystripe wants to rest while they hunt, but he goes hunting anyways. He catches a rabbit. Graystripe contemplates returning to the old forest.
The other warriors talk about how much easier it is to hunt for four. Flipclaw tells Flywhisker that if she were to have kits he’d make sure she’s wellfed. Flywhisker tells him she isn’t interested. He tries again but she shoots him down.
Snaptooth asks what they will do now. Flywhisker wonders what it would be like to be a kittypet. Thornclaw gets sick of this and leaves.
Graystripe tells the others that he wants to visit his son, Stormfur. He hopes that by visiting his “past” he can understand his future.
Chapter 5 - FQ
The screaming was Brightheart. She is giving birth. Graystripe is terrified that she will die like Silverstream. Cloudtail gathers herbs for Cinderpelt.
Graystripe welcomes the kit into ThunderClan and pats himself on the back for doing nothing. Then he realizes that Firestar would done something and not just stand around, and feels ashamed.
A few days later, Thornclaw, Sootpaw and Brambleclaw return with more proof of WindClan hunting on their territory. Ashfur says this wouldn’t be a problem if Dustpelt were deputy.
Graystripe doesn’t know what to do. Mousefur enters camp and tells him that Russetfur wants to speak with Firestar.
Chapter 6 - TBC
The others are nervous about leaving Clan territory. Graystripe has enjoyed hunting.
Suddenly, dogs. They climb trees and a human comes and takes the dogs away.
Later that day, Graystripe tells them that he wants to go now. Flywhisker, Snaptooth and Flipclaw tell him he can go without them.
Flipclaw changes his mind and comes with Graystripe.
Chapter 7 - FQ
Russetfur and Rowanclaw demand to speak with Firestar. Graystripe tells them that Firestar is busy, so they can speak with him instead. Turns out they’ve scented BloodClan on Clan territory. ThunderClan overhears this and instantly smack-talks ShadowClan. (Rowanclaw’s pronouns are switching paragraph to paragraph. *EDIT: I might just be bad at reading... thanks for telling me lol!)
Graystripe tells his Clan that he thinks BloodClan are the ones pretending to be WindClan and causing trouble. Cinderpelt agrees.
Graystripe, Dustpelt and Brambleclaw go to inspect the BloodClan smell, but get jumped by BloodClan troopers. Graystripe sees Gremlin and knows she’s fit to burst.
Fury tells them that she knows that Firestar is gone. BloodClan attacks and defeats Graystripe. They throw him under a fence to get eaten by a dog. The dog is locked in a house, so he survives.
Graystripe heads back to the forest, but encounters Gremlin. She lets him escape. This confuses Graystripe.
Chapter 8 - TBC
Graystripe and Flipclaw make it to the Tribe’s territory. Flipclaw is excited to tell his littermates about this. They encounter two Tribe cats, Moon Shining on Water and Thorn that Grows in Clef.
Graystripe and Stormfur have a sweet reunion for two sentences. Graystripe meets the kits. Flipclaw hits it off with Feather. They are very VERY good friends, (probably a bit more than friends.)
Stoneteller mentions a rogue who had come around asking for Clan cats.
Chapter 9 - TBC
Graystripe tells Stoneteller about all the Bramblestar and ThunderClan problems. Stoneteller has sensed a shadow over the Clans. He tells Graystripe that Graystripe still has a long journey ahead. Graystripe goes to sleep.
A tribe cat tells Stoneteller that the boys Flipclaw and Feather were out hunting, but got trapped in a landslide. Graystripe goes with Stoneteller to help.
Feather manages to get out, but Flipclaw is still stuck. It takes all day, but they get Flipclaw out. Flipclaw’s leg is dislocated.
Graystripe sees Feathertail standing on a shiny rock, and takes it as a sign that he must find the moonstone.
Chapter 10 - FQ
Graystripe returns to camp. He asks Dustpelt if he knows that Ashfur wants him to be deputy. Dustpelt is surprised.
Ashfur talks smack about Graystripe getting beat up by BloodClan (same energy as “im built different”) Brambleclaw reminds him that there were too many BloodClan cats for two and a half warriors to fight.
The next day Graystripe tells ThunderClan they must prepare for BloodClan again.
Chapter 11 - TBC
Graystripe wants to leave the tribe immediately. Stormfur asks why he doesn’t just stay forever. Graystripe considers it, but still wants to go to the moonstone.
Flipclaw is still recovering. Graystripe tells him about the moonstone, and Flipclaw tells Graystripe that he wants to go home. They part ways.
Graystripe thinks about Silverstream and Millie again. He hunts a mouse and spots Highstones. He nearly gets hit on the Thunderpath.
Chapter 12 - FQ
Still worried about BloodClan, Graystripe is startled by Shrewkit and Spiderkit playing. ThunderClan is on edge. Graystripe decides now is a good time to tell the other Clans that BloodClan is back.
Graystripe takes Cloudtail and Rainpaw to WindClan. Tallstar believes Graystripe about BloodClan and sends Firestar his well-wishes. They go to RiverClan and meet Stormfur. Leopardstar is angry about BloodClan, and sceptical about Firestar.
Stormfur and Feathertail escort them off RiverClan territory.
Chapter 13 - TBC
Graystripe makes it to Highstones. He thinks about visiting Barley.
An owl scares him, and then a pack of monsters scare him. He escapes and hides in a bush. A fat kittypet stumbles upon him, but leaves to get dinner. Graystripe feels lost.
Graystripe dreams about Millie’s death. He wakes up and smells the river. He sees sunningrocks.
Graystripe gets attacked by a cat.
Chapter 14 - FQ
It’s the gathering. Graystripe is nervous about BloodClan still being in the forest.
Leopardstar and Blackstar are sceptical about Firestar’s whereabouts. She announces that there was a fox on their territory, but that *Mistyfoot chased it off.
The leaders agree to share news of BloodClan with each other throughout the moon.
Graystripe talks with Stormfur and Feathertail, similar to what he says to them in A Shadow in RiverClan (that they are welcome in ThunderClan.)
Chapter 15 - TBC
Graystripe realizes the kittypet who attacked him is not alone. There are five others. They introduce themselves as WarriorClan! Monkeystar, Bugeater, Fireface, Bigteeth, Clawwhistle, and Chester. They are larping as clan cats during the day, and returning to their humans at night.
Smudge is still alive, and has told the kittypets all about the warriors. They ask if Firestar is with him. Graystripe says he isn’t, but that he is a real warrior. Monkeystar asks him to prove it by fighting her, and he wins.
Graystripe decides to stay with WarriorClan for a little bit, and teaches them how to hunt.
Near sunset, Graystripe decides to leave WarriorClan. Monkeystar bids him farewell. Graystripe finds Four Trees, and is distressed about its destruction.
Chapter 16 - FQ
Graystripe is hunting when he hears someone in the bushes. It’s Gremlin. She wants to give birth to her kits somewhere safe. She says that ThunderClan is the only place she’d want to have her kits. She wants her and her brother to be safe too.
Brackenfur appears and says that they can’t trust Gremlin. Graystripe and him argue a bit.
Graystripe goes home and tells Cinderpelt about Gremlin. Cinderpelt decides to go to the moonstone and ask StarClan.
Chapter 17 - TBC
Still trying to get out of the twoleg place, Graystripe finally gets to the exit. He feels like he’s being followed, and lo and behold WarriorClan wants to see the moonstone.
Graystripe tells them that they can just wait outside for him. They agree and they all set off. When they are closer, they smell a stranger!
WarriorClan is ready for a fight, but the stranger tells Graystripe that they are Gremlin’s kit, and that he had vowed to help Gremlin no matter what. They asked if he would help them too.
Chapter 18 - FQ
Graystripe is going with Cinderpelt to the moonstone. He thinks about Gremlin while he waits outside.
Graystripe falls asleep and dreams about Firestar. Firestar turns into Fury and tells him to wake up. Cinderpelt is back and tells Graystripe that he’s got to make his own decision, and to beware the snake bite.
Graystripe does not find this encouraging.
Chapter 19 - TBC
The stranger, Fang, tells Graystripe that he escaped from an abusive twoleg’s den and wants to go back to get his mate. His mate, Daffodil, is sick and might die (like Gremlin did) in this twoleg’s house.
Graystripe agrees to help but first he wants to go to the moonstone. Bigteeth, Bugeater, Fireface and Chester head back to their humans.
Graystripe enters Mothermouth and asks StarClan to forgive him from trespassing and asks for help.
Lightning strikes!
Chapter 20 - FQ
Graystripe meets with Gremlin at Smudge’s house. Cinderpelt tells Gremlin that one of her kits is upside-down, and that the birth might be hard.
Fury drops by and asks Smudge if he wants to join BloodClan. He stands his ground, and she tells Gremlin that there will be a Clan meeting.
Graystripe calls a Clan meeting himself and tells ThunderClan about Gremlin. The Clan is divided about her, but Cinderpelt helps convince them that Gremlin needs their help.
Ashfur loudly objects, but Cinderpelt helps convince the Clan that Gremlin needs their help and means no harm.
Chapter 21 - TBC
Lightning struck the moonstone and destroyed. Graystripe is terrified. He runs back to Monkeystar, Clawwhistle and Fang and tells them. Monkeystar suggests they go to Barley.
Fang asks if Graystripe is his father. Graystripe tells him no, but that he is proud of him nonetheless. Fang is disappointed.
Barley is shocked that Graystripe is still alive. Barley is very old, and doesn’t move much. Monkeystar and Clawwhistle hunt a mouse for him.
Graystripe asks Barley what he should do, and Barley suggests he sleep on it. Before he sleeps, he hears Fang ask if Barley knew Gremlin.
Chapter 22 - FQ
Back at Smudge’s house, Gremlin and Graystripe have a meet up again.
Gremlin tells Graystripe that BloodClan will attack in two days, when the camp is at its weakest (all the patrols are out and the patrols who have returned are already tired.)
Chapter 23 - TBC
Graystripe spends the day listening to Barley telling Fang about Gremlin. They go to sleep, but Fang seems unhappy.
Fang tells Graystripe that Gremlin died in the twoleg den that he had escaped from. Fang wants to leave now and free all the other cats too.
Chapter 24 - TBC
They head out. WarriorClan wants to come with, but Graystripe says it’s too dangerous. He convinces them to stay with Barley.
Graystripe enters the house through a window. The house is unkept, and all the cats are starving. It’s not great. The twoleg is very very old.
The twoleg shuts the window while he tries to figure out an escape route.
Chapter 25 - TBC
Graystripe speaks with the cats. He learns that Fang used to be named Honeysuckle.
The cats try to come up with ideas of how to escape. The twoleg’s favorite cat, Petunia, shoots down the idea of attacking the twoleg.
They make a plan to prop open a door, but it fails. Graystripe feels hopeless.
Chapter 26 - FQ
Graystripe tries to orchestrate a normal day while preparing for a battle with BloodClan. He sends the elders Goldenflower and Frostfur on a “patrol” near twoleg place to scout out BloodClan and the apprentices to the training hollow where they can avoid the battle.
Fury enters camp and the battle begins. The apprentices disobey and try to fight BloodClan.
Cinderpelt tries to sneak Gremlin out of the fighting, but is spotted by Fury. Snake and Ice try to stop her, and Scraps tries to stop them. Scraps dies.
Graystripes is about to kill Snake when Fury yells at him to stop. She threatens to kill Gremlin, and the other cats stop fighting too.
Chapter 27 - FQ
Graystripe notices that Fury has been fatally wounded, and tells her if they leave the Clans alone, Cinderpelt can treat her wound. Fury refuses, but starts dying. Fury then decides she wants to live, and ThunderClan wins.
ThunderClan finally apologizes for not trusting Graystripe. Graystripe talks to Cinderpelt about StarClan’s message, then goes and visits Gremlin. Gremlin is mourning Scraps, and decides that being in a Clan is too violent for her.
Gremlin decides to become a kittypet, so Graystripe vows to always help Gremlin if she asks. (thats the name of the book fellas we did it)
Chapter 28 - TBC
Graystripe speaks with Daffodil, Fang’s mate. She is very weak. He is worried that Fang has abandoned them.
Later, Fang returns with WarriorClan, and WarriorClan pushes up on a loose board. The kittypets are able to escape. Petunia wants to stay.
A mail man arrives and calls animal control. The cats leave the house but don’t go far. The older cats want to go and get captured, and Daffodil does too.
The elderly human is taken away in an ambulance, and Petunia wants to stay at the house until she returns. Graystripe convinces her she can still wait, but she has to escape the humans first.
Fang is sad that Daffodil is gone, and Graystripe has no idea how to comfort him.
Chapter 29 - TBC
Graystripe comforts Fang.
The escaped cats decide to part ways, either becoming loners, going off to find human caretakers, or joining WarriorClan (and moving to Barley’s barn.)
Graystripe is ready to retire to the elder’s den again. He realizes that it is possible for Clans to exist without StarClan, like WarriorClan has and is. Fang is upset and doesn’t want him to leave.
Graystripe asks Petunia to be the medicine cat, and encourages her to take on an apprentice in case her human ever comes back. WarriorClan feels like a real Clan now (to Graystripe and Fang.)
Graystripe prepares to leave.
Chapter 30 - FQ
ThunderClan is back to normal. Firestar is back!
Graystripe tells Firestar that he is not fit to lead, and that he is happy just being deputy. Firestar is just happy to be back.
Chapter 31 - TBC
Graystripe sleeps in Barley’s barn and tells him what happened. Barley is glad the cats escaped, and that they are welcome in his barn.
Graystripe is spotted by a hunting patrol and Stormfur greets him. He tells Stormfur that he is returning to ThunderClan, because he’s realized he doesn’t need StarClan to tell him that ThunderClan has changed. He has come to terms with it.
Stormfur is frustrated that Graystripe won’t stay, but calms down and enjoys the rest of the evening with his father for the last time.
Graystripe makes it to the lake, and is excited to be back in the home he loves.
Epilogue - FQ
It’s the gathering. All the Clans are surprised that Firestar is there. Firestar announces BloodClan’s second defeat, and the Clans chant Graystripe’s name.
Manga - TBC
A moon later. Monkeystar says that WarriorClan is thriving, but that she is insecure about her leadership skills. Fang is a good deputy, but Petunia keeps leaving for days.
Monkeystar decides to go and find Petunia. She, Bugeater, Lily and Clawwhistle travel to find the human’s house. They get attacked by kittypets, and are chased off. They find Petunia at the human’s house, rundown and abandoned.
Petunia doesn’t want to leave the house behind, but knows in her heart that her human will not return. Lily convinces Petunia to come home, albeit regretfully.
Monkeystar comes up with a plan to help Petunia move on. She takes Petunia to the shattered the moonstone.
Petunia returns joyfully. Gremlin’s ghost had appeared to her, and tells her that the old human is dead but at peace. Gremlin encourages Petunia by telling her that her Clanmates need her.
The patrol returns to WarriorClan, reinvigorated.
