Duolingo Alternatives by Language
Disclaimer: I haven't used or tested all of them. All resources have different strengths, e.g. Drops being designed for vocabulary. They often aren't full alternatives for Duolingo or formal classes. I just wanted to compile resources for all languages on Duolingo to make the switch easier, especially for the less popular languages.
Feel free to also check out my collection of free textbooks
If you want a more detailed resource list for any of these languages (or perhaps one not listed here) you can send me an ask and I can see what I can do.

Sup
Thank you for the ask! Your question was a little unclear, so we decided to investigate all possible meanings thoroughly. Hopefully one of these answers your question.
Is "sup" Jewish?
To dine - JEWISH. Supping upon fine foods is extremely Jewish, though of course not exclusively so. According to tradition, we are obligated to have a fancy meal (a supper, perhaps) on holidays, known as a seudah. What exactly constitutes a seudah is (of course) up for debate, though many hold that it has to include meat (much to the dismay of Mod Shoshana, who is a vegetarian), as a holiday offering would. Of course, if you are referring to the Last Supper, the answer changes to NOT JEWISH.
Stand Up Paddling - JEW-ISH. Does not appear to be associated with any particular religion. It is originally a native Hawaiian pastime, however the renaissance in the early 1980s was in part due to a rabbi who was also a lifeguard.
Supine (as in medical notation) - JEW-ISH. In Genesis, the Patriarch Jacob sleeps using a rock as a pillow when he has the famous dream of the angels coming up and down a ladder, as he's fleeing his brother Esau. Given he was using a rock as a pillow, I think it's fair to suggest he may have been supine at the time.
Shorthand for "What's up?" - JEW-ISH. This is not, in fact, a question regarding the difference between the Waters Above versus the Waters Below as described in Genesis, the answer to which would be "The Heavens." Rather this is a question of our state of being, roughly equivalent to the Yiddish-English "So, nu, how can you be?" The answer to this question, of course, is "Baruch Hashem, all things considered, hanging in there; and you?"

Josephine ‘Jo’ McCarthy for @minamill ‘s Rhea Summers
“am i here to win?...that depends on what you believe the prize is”
"this might be all fun ‘n games for rest of these folks but i've seen a lot of these types who move here seekin' adventure an' all. i don't like em one bit. 'm here to see what this rhea summers' deal is. now, are we done here?”
Self appointed sheriff in town, Josephine, is 23 years old and grew up in strangerville with her widowed father as an only child. Jo’s mother first went missing when she was 14, despite how desperately she pressed and pressed the local authorities to keep looking it was as if she was talking to a brick wall. It was only after her mother’s body was found years later that she decided, then and there, that she was going to be the person to actually help this town. Despite meaning well Jo comes across as aggressive and uncharitable to those who she’s trying to protect the most, it’s caused her to become the stone cold, authority she is today. Unwavering in her attitudes, it’s impossible to stop her from doing something once she’s made up her mind. Which brings us to her signing up for this bachelorette. Jo was already on edge and fired up before Rhea showed up out of nowhere talking about ‘looking for love’, maybe Jo was being dramatic when she percieved this as a threat to the town once again but she’s too worried of being right and doing nothing than being wrong and doing something. Now the only question is, what will she find?
She has the self assured, hot headed and cunning/paranoid (take your pick) traits and the renaissance sim aspiration. She has an knack for boxing, hiking, and wood working. She loves nothing more than having a cold beer after a long day and then a cup of coffee in the morning after a long night. She also likes hawaiian pizza.

do you have diverse modern romance recs?
Yep! I've (mostly) organized it by author:
Naima Simone: I'm obsessed with literally everything this woman writes, both Harlequin and not Harlequin. Naima writes a lot of fabulous Black heroines (and she writes great body diversity as well) and a decent amount of POC heroes as well. My favorites include . Black Tie Billionaire (Black heroine, Asian hero), Secrets Of A One Night Stand (Black heroine, Pacific Islander hero), and Trust Fund Fiancé (both the hero and heroine are Black). The best thing about Naima's books is just the uniformity in how she writes every body type as attractive and desirable and the sex is very hot. Would absolutely recommend.
Katrina Jackson: I haven't talked about Katrina enough, when she's out here doing the most for mafia romances and spy romances with diverse characters. I could happily read her novella Beautiful & Dirty over and over, but it's a prequel to the mafia series which ends with my favorite, The Don, which has a Black heroine. Katrina also wrote a spy series (The Spies Who Loved Me!) and the first in that series, Pink Slip, has a Black heroine who's lusting over her married bosses (the wife, Monica, is Latina I believe) and surprise, they're both into her too.
Angelina M. Lopez: Angelina writes excellent Latino rep. Her fictional town Freedom, Kansas, which is the setting in multiple stories, has an amazing Mexican-American community she builds on. I'd recommend After Hours on Milagro Street, which has a Mexican-American heroine, as well as her upcoming Full Moon Over Freedom, which is next in the series. The way she melds culture, magic, and romance is gorgeous. Also! Lush Money, which is set within this universe, has a Latina heroine and is very fun and worth reading.
Tara Pammi: If you want to read about Indians in India or Bollywood-centric romances, Tara is the author. I liked Claiming His Bollywood Cinderella and The Secret She Kept in Bollywood (that man is suuuch a DILF he's great).
Jadesola James: I've talked about her before (see here) but Jadesola has written a couple Harlequin Presents stories set in Africa. I'd recommend The Royal Baby He Must Claim and The Princess He Must Marry, which are about sisters who are Nigerian princesses.
Talia Hibbert: The Brown Sisters books are bangers, sexy and emotionally comforting at the same time. I'd recommend all of them: Get a Life, Chloe Brown, Take a Hint, Dani Brown, and Act Your Age, Eve Brown. I also love her novella Guarding Temptation, which has both a Black hero and heroine and Wanna Bet? which has a Black heroine and a British-Indian hero (thanks for reminding me @viscountessevie).
Wrong to Need You by Alisha Rai: The hero and heroine are in-laws (well, her husband, his brother, is dead) so the romance was very emotional and slow-burn, but the pay-off was absolutely worth it. The heroine Sadia is Pakistani-American, and the hero Jackson is of Japanese and Hawaiian ancestry. Alisha also delves pretty deep into South Asian family dynamics which hit a liiiittle too close to home, but I can't deny the accuracy.
Reel by Kennedy Ryan: This a romance between an actress and her director (both are Black) and I particularly appreciate the amount of research Kennedy Ryan put into the Harlem Renaissance, Black artists of that era (she created a fictional artist to base the movie off of), as well as their contributions to the Civil Rights movement which I think isn't discussed enough.
Sink or Swim by Tessa Bailey: See here.
From what I recall, Katee Robert did a pretty good job of body diversity without super explicitly mentioning race in her Fairytale Villains Who Fuck Wicked Villains series.

I have made no secret that I am a huge fan of the Dolls of the World collection.
Though the base collection were dolls in different national costumes, there were subcollections relating to festivals, landmarks and - what else? - princesses.
I can't find an official masterlist from Mattel on how many Princesses of the World have been released, but to be fair, I might not be looking correctly. Most sources say there were 19 but some say 21, so I am not sure if some people are mistaken or if there are two extra secret princesses that I don't know about.
Either way, I am not going to make a post sharing all 19 or 21 Princesses because I don't want to clutter your feeds quite that much, but I do just want to share a few that I find interesting.
Tumblr media
This is Princess of the Pacific Islands. She was released in 2005. Although her branding just says "Pacific Islands", the back of the box identifies her as being from Hawaii. I am not going to pretend at all to be an expert on Hawaiian culture or traditional dress, so I will not speak to the accuracy -- but I do think it would have been nice for Mattel to describe her a little more specifically. There are famously quite a lot of "Pacific Islands" with different cultures.
Tumblr media
Princess of the Renaissance (also from 2005) I think is beautiful. The back of the box specifies that she is from Florence. It also specifies that -- no joke -- this Barbie engages in rap battles with her friend, the court jester.
Okay, it doesn't say "rap battles". It says, and I quote, "When the princess is ready for harder games, she challenges her friend the court jester to rhyming contests. She always wins!". But I want to believe this princess canonically rap battles.
Tumblr media
I actually owned a 2001 Princess of the Nile when I was younger, though strictly as a collectors piece. I had a big Egypt phase, so I was a big fan of her. The back of her box spends a lot of time delving into her beauty routine, with her use of kohl, ocher, henna and perfumed oils.
However the biggest thing I can say about Princess of the Nile is that it's really unfortunate, but she's not Egyptian Queen Barbie, another Ancient Egypt-themed Barbie that predated Princess of the Nile by 7 years.

How do you think the archons would dress in our world?
Hell yeah this is fun to think about, I'll break my ideas down by Archon, but generally speaking none of them would deviate too heavily from their very obvious tastes, and you would have to give a decent amount of guidance in order to avoid any fashion disasters—
-
Venti:
• So he definitely sticks with the green color palette generally, that's a given, probably pairs it with some brown and other earthy tones
• I imagine he would dress in a way that both classifies as casual, but you could also get away with wearing it to a Renaissance fair, if you know what I mean (bring him to a Renaissance fair, I'm begging you, that could only go well)
• I'm thinking flowy clothes, or at least flowy shirts, and I feel like he would be really into patterns
• Nothing super crazy, but I almost feel like he would wear tie-dye ironically, like he's the type to look for the gaudiest most blinding piece of clothing and buy it instantly just for the shock factor
• (I hope you're ready for Christmas, because he's absolutely winning every tacky sweater competition)
• If he's attempting to be especially fancy then maybe a poet shirt, high waisted black pants/brown shorts with those straps that kind of look like suspenders and dress shoes, but that's mainly for performances
• Of course the braids are a must, but he would start experimenting with more hair clips with flowers on them and such
• Soon he'll have a hair accessory collection and you'll have the honor of styling it to your liking every day
• For beachwear he'd jump on Hawaiian shirts and swim shorts, would probably also make you get him one of those big floppy hats and he could put his Cecilia flower on it
• As for pajamas I imagine a rather basic t-shirt/tank top paired with general pajama pants/shorts, nothing fancy there
• Finally general accessories, for some reason I could see him wearing an ankle bracelet, along with clip on earrings of various kinds (specifically clip on), and I feel like he would find creative places to put the Cecilia he usually wears on his hat
• Like he might wear it as a bracelet one day, or as a brooch, or on the side of a belt where he used to put his fake vision, he would just want to incorporate that in all of his outfits
• I couldn't see rings but I could see a few non-metal bracelets, also I think a messenger styled bag just really suits him
-
Zhongli:
• You know that mid-thirty's male History/English teacher that you probably had a crush on at some point in high school?
• Yeah, that's how he dresses
• You might be able to discourage him from wearing full on suits everywhere, but collared shirts and dress pants are pretty much a given
• Never let it be said they don't look good on him, but he could pull anything off
• You might be able to get him to trade out the dress pants for a darker jeans, but the button up collared shirt is staying (tho on casual days you could convince him to unbutton a few of the top ones)
• Colors wise, it's pretty obvious that he would stick to the basic blacks, greys, and occasional golds on accent pieces
• If you beg him he might wear a floral print beach shirt and flip flops on beach days, I don't see him swimming heavily so sadly the shirt will probably stay on
• Now for pajamas, the funny answer is the striped pants and matching striped shirt combo, the more realistic answer is a black t-shirt and sweatpants (we can finally admire his arms thank god—)
• Accessories wise I could see a standard decent looking watch, obviously he's keeping the earring, and maybe a small necklace with something that reminds him of you that he keeps tucked under his shirt, along with a pretty killer belt he wears with every outfit
-
Ei:
• She was very happy to find that the general styles in Inazuma do still more or less exists in the form of traditional Japanese clothing, but you're gonna have to steer her off into something a bit more casual
• I feel like she would be surprisingly into more muted vintage clothing, and you would have the honor of introducing her to thrift stores
• Obviously sticks with purples and lavenders, which pair pretty well with both black and white
• If you can't tell, I have a thing for black pants, but I just really think they would pair so well with a lavender sweater
• She could pull off a blazer really well, just saying
• And I really think she would just default to corporate office style for anything formal, could be skirt or pants depending on the event
• I could also see her pulling off flannel pretty well, just in general, but she might need some convincing for that because I don't see her as a willing pattern person
• For beach clothes I think she would rely pretty heavily on what you would like to see her in, probably wouldn't want to do anything too revealing though (I personally want to see her in a very cute flowy purple sundress, but that's just me)
• Bikinis are probably pushing the limit unless you happen to be wearing one too, but one pieces would be fine
• Pajama wise I feel it's either a very expensive looking satin/silk long shirt and pant combo, or something a bit more basic, like a nightgown, but a pretty one with lace and stuff, gotta stay classy
• There's not a whole lot to expand on when it comes to accessories, I do feel like she's the most likely to wear brooches though, maybe has a collection of them
• Would probably also cycle through a variety of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, just whatever fits with the current outfit, a very versatile accessorizer
• Though if you give her a particular accessory she's going to try to incorporate it in everything, naturally, any gift from you is precious

When/if the tADC cast is shown in human form, I really hope they don't visually resemble their avatars, for a few reasons -The program forces them to forget their own names, clearly anonymity was a priority here -The avatars are clearly reflecting their personalities, not their physical bodies -It's such an overdone and frankly kind of lazy trope in the trapped-in-a-video-game genre, I'm tired of it
(Nothing against those who do draw them that way of course, it's just not my preference)
And since I hate complaining without offering an alternative, here's my (PROBABLY WILDLY INCORRECT) speculation on what they might have been like when they were human under the cut
(cw: self harm, animal death)
Pomni -Had long blonde hair which she wore down, she would have preferred it short but [insert loved one here] loved it, so long it was. Also doubled as a convenient curtain when she was outwardly freaking out -On the skinny side, flat as a board even, strong legs though -Well dressed in an understated way, she didn't like to stand out -Was really into gymnastics as a kid, moved onto jogging once she got older and busier -Ate a lot of neon colored tv dinners/poptarts/fast food as a kid, avoided it like the plague in her teen years and beyond because "it's gross" -Had a rabbit once, but it escaped and what was left of it was found in her back yard a week later, she never had the heart to get another pet after that -Part of a friend group, but didn't hang out with most of them individually -Watched American Idol religiously
Gangle -Chubby and really tall, yet always felt small, so her posture was really bad -Either lived with her parents or spent most of her time holed up in her apartment, didn't get much sunlight either way -Dressed modestly to cover up some self inflicted scars -Anime was not really part of the western cultural consciousness in the late 90's, most people assumed it was either just kid stuff or just porn, so she probably didn't have many friends outside of a few fellow anime fans -Very quiet and withdrawn but could talk for hours about her new favorite anime (and yes, she preferred subs to dubs) -Loved trying different kinds of snacks -Her keys had a shit ton of keychains and charms attached -Drew a lot and kept it all in a big binder
Zooble -Kinda short -Exceptionally good posture -Moved around a lot as a kid, their favorite place was an apartment one block off from a park where they met their best friend -Alt fashion sense (mostly hand me down clothes so they had to get creative anyway) with a preference for button up shirts -Socks MUST match, down to the brand -Mall crawler, but rarely bought anything -Bead collection -Read so many sci fi books
Kinger -Dad bod -Could see fine but kept his reading glasses in the front pocket of his (usually hawaiian, sometimes plaid) shirt at all times -Was something of a chess and checkers legend at his local library, the "I bet you can't beat that guy" guy. Would let his opponent win if they seemed like they were really stressing about it though -Big nature guy, went hiking or camping once every couple weeks at least -Had a pottery kiln in his garage -Met his wife at a movie theater and movies were the go-to date night ever since
Ragatha -Average proportions, other than being slightly 'blessed in the chest' -Her least favorite season was summer, because she couldn't wear her sweaters then -Her parents loved her but were on the strict side -Most of her disposable income went to her porcelain doll collection, which she hid from friends and family because "it's creepy" -Didn't realize wanting to kiss girls wasn't a universal experience for the longest time -Had a busy social life, was rarely home because she always had someone to see and somewhere to be -Dated around a lot but never settled down with anybody -Was big into fantasy stuff, especially the renaissance faire
Jax -Average proportions, like imagine a Normal Guy (non-hollywood version) he looked like that -Dyed his hair an unnatural color like green or pink -Struggled with an eating disorder, less because he hated how he looked (though he might have) and more to assert control in a life where he had very little -Wore band shirts of bands he didn't listen to as a little private joke. His actual music taste leaned more classical but he wouldn't tell a soul about that -Quite friendly and social, but couldn't maintain more than a couple close friendships at a time -Loved baseball -Watched every horror movie he could get his hands on

A commemorative quarter honoring the late Edith Kanakaʻole, venerated Hawaiian cultural icon, kumu hula, composer, chanter, and a key influence in the Hawaiian renaissance of the 1970s has been released into circulation by the U.S. Mint. Her designation as an honoree is an unbelievable honor for her family, foundation, and people. Featured on the quarter depicting Edith Kanakaʻole is the inscription “E hō mai ka ʻike,” which refers to the intertwined role hula and chants play in this perpetuation of Hawaiian knowledge systems.

Descriptions taken from Wikipedia.
Lilo & Stitch (2002) - Post-Ren
The film revolves around a Hawaiian girl named Lilo Pelekai, who is raised by her older sister Nani after their parents' deaths, and the extraterrestrial creature Experiment 626, who is adopted and renamed "Stitch". Stitch, who was genetically engineered to cause chaos and destruction, uses Lilo to avoid recapture, but they develop a close bond through ʻohana, or extended family, causing Stitch to reconsider.
Paris 2054: Renaissance (2006) - Post-Ren
The film uses a style of motion capture animation in which almost all images are exclusively black-and-white; only occasional colour is used for detail. The story concerns a French policeman investigating the kidnapping of a scientist who may hold the key to eternal life in a futuristic and slightly dystopian Paris. It was funded by Disney with US$3 million provided from Miramax.

My 2013 Hipster soul would die that I'm admitting this, but I have realised that I am a Standard Issue Bisexual Woman.* I will progress with some facts about myself that I deem relevant to proving this point.
Physical appearance:
Nose ring(s) - I have a nostril hoop and a septum ring (and too many ear piercings).
Coloured hair - presently, my hair is my natural blonde because I needed a break from dying my hair, BUT usually, my hair is a fun color (I like pink and purple on myself the most).
Tattoos - while tattoos are very common now (perhaps like the above two bullet points), my current tattoos are a saguaro cactus, the goddess Athena, a celestial snake, and a sword which I've been told is extraordinarily Bisexual™️.
Clothes - I generally wear either waisted mom jeans / jorts with a Hawaiian shirt OR I dress like a '70s witch (think Stevie Nicks but in '70s orange / rust as well as black).
Interests:
I'm a historian specialising in women's history, in particular during Ancient Greece, the Tudor Period, and the Regency Era. Need I say more?
I sew historical costumes (but recreationally and paid for a theatre), and I used to be on cast at a Renaissance Festival until I moved for college.
I both write and read avidly; presently, I've been gouging myself on Dramione fanfiction (both writing and reading).
This one might be a little out there, but hear me out. Rock climbing, specifically bouldering. This community is (in my experience as a climber in California) filled with hippie, granola bisexuals of all genders and (unfortunately) toxic straight men.
Additional Facts:
My partner is also bisexual.
We (I) have a cat.
Favourite (Romance) Tropes:
Enemies to Lovers - I feel that the majority of female readership looking for this dynamic is probably queer. I think a lot of us are Austen-lovers at heart, so who can resist a good old Lizzy / Darcy romance?
Idiots in Love - aren't we, the chronically indecisive and burned-out ex-Gifted Kids who are natural people pleasers, unable to recognise the difference between 'just being nice' and flirting?
Basically to sum up the previous two, Slow Burn.
Basically, I wish I could say I'm Quirky and Unique, but unfortunately, I picked the Basic Package when I got my membership papers for the Bisexual Club.
*My pronouns are She/They. Calling myself a woman is the easiest thing, though that doesn't fully represent how I feel about my gender.
