The Hatake family
Tumblr media
I returned in 2019. When my friend and I were thinking about "what if?" and these babies appeared.
The Hatake family. Kakashi, Rin (who became jinchuuriki) and their babies. Nuigurumi youngest daughter, who just entered the academy. The twins Tadashi and Yoshi, who create chaos, are about to graduate from the academy. And the eldest Sakumo Hatake, already a genie with the gift of a healer.

Hatake Kakashi Headcanons with Rai
Rai is my Original Character, or OC. She was made back in 2003 and has evolved to this day.
I originally had a different story going about her, but it became too complicated and long. So I decided to shorten it.
Anyways here are some headcanons of Kakashi with Rai.
Tumblr media
For context, Rai is a female wolf demon that has a main form as a human. Her rank is ANBU.
General
When dating, going out to get something to eat, or tea. They try to keep everything low key.
Just staying over night and sleeping in bed with each other means so much.
He will disappear to Rai's apartment to avoid responsibilities for a while. He uses this time to decompress. It's his place he can relax.
He has gone to her place, while she was on a mission, just to sleep in her bed so he could relax. Rai allows him to stay whenever he wants.
He will perch in a high area just to watch Rai for a bit.
Seeing her, even from afar, helps to give him a boost to finish his job.
He is protective of Rai and hates when people bully her. Simply by stepping up next to her and diverting the attention to him. But Rai will take physical attacks for him.
He loves spending time with her, just being around her. Even if they are just silent and sitting somewhere.
He is her protector, her guardian. And she is his protector. He knows she is powerful and could kill him. But she doesn't. She is his backup plan in case he falls during battle.
Favorite pastime is to read and nap by the lake beneath a tree, preferably on her lap.
Both are each other's scary dog privilege. Rai to keep others away and keep things nice and quiet around him. Kakashi to keep others from bullying Rai.
He gets a little more distant when Rai is away on a mission. He doesn't pay attention to his book and winds up day dreaming.
He loves it when she comes to his place after she gets cleaned up and changed. But he REALLY loves it when she is so exhausted that she goes to his place anyways, despite her being covered in blood.
They both take turns cooking. She's not the best, but she tries. And she gets better. She actually masters his favorite dish.
He ADORES Rai's wolf form.
Did not tell Rai about Sukea, but Rai quickly found out after he took a photo of her and his scent hit her. She played it off.
Rai HATES it when he smokes. He knows it and actually quits smoking while they date.
When he has night terrors, Rai holds him. She has gotten hit and kicked out of bed. Not his fault. Him laying on her chest, listening to her breathing and heartbeat sometimes works, but it can also stress him out. But her laying on him really does the trick.
He is honored by Rai’s loyalty.
He isn't a jealous person. He trusts her and her loyalty.
Kakashi loves and respects Rai.
Rai loves and respects him.
He has gotten used to some of Rai's demonic presence, not all of it. Only about ⅓ of it.
Was in the presence of her full demon form. He felt like she knew him and wouldn't hurt him. This was when she was bound and chained by “peacekeepers” or demon hunters.
The other time he felt her presence was the war. She told him to run. And he did. He took Gai and went as far as he could.
Loves seeing her in his sweater.
Because of Rai, he knows a ton about demons and dark chakra. He is the go to for handling and dealing with demons, despite Rai being a demon herself.
He knows Rai doesn't have a big social battery and a small friend group. If he ever sees her out in public, she may be stressed. He will step beside her for support. Especially if he sees she may be shutting down.
Falls asleep on her shoulder and lap a lot.
Affection
Surprises her by getting her flowers, especially with her favorite peonies in them. He knows she isn't a material person, but it is nice every so often to show her he appreciates and loves her.
He will get her the next book in the series she likes.
He will also stop by her favorite restaurant to get her favorite food for dinner every once in a while.
He allows her to initiate, she sets the tempo.
He loves lounging on the couch with her on his chest.
He loves patting her head and praising her. He swears he sees a fluffy tail wag when he does this.
He loves being the big spoon.
He leads and holds her hand when crowds are in the street and they need to get through.
Will kiss her through his mask.
Will slip his mask down to place a kiss on her cheek or lips quickly.
Loves to kiss her temple, head, or cheek when he can.
Loves when she leans up to place a quick peck on his cheek.
Loves to go on walks with her. They don't need to hold hands but it is a bonus.
Loves holding her from behind. Burying his nose in her shoulder and neck.
Rare PDA is hand holding. Even rarer is when he will place a kiss on her cheek or temple.
Melts when she runs her fingers through his hair.
Tumblr media
Basically, he loves her and will do just about anything for her. And vice versa.
These are just some of the brain rot I have in my head for these two.
I will post their reunion story soon.

Part 4 of chakra bar
Y’all shouldn’t have doubted Kakashi and the ninken (only the best for sakumo). I headcanon that peanut butter is Sakumo favorite flavor and he does the dog thing (you know the thing) while eating it.
I’ll post 2 more .5 parts but idk if i’ll post a next “full part” or if i’ll just post one long text post with the rest of the plot for this AU.
Feel free to use any of these ideas for fic and stuff (just credit me lol)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 2.5 | Part 3

I wanted to share this Kakashi AU in fic format, but I don’t have the energy for that right now. So! I’ll just share it as bullet points :D.
Warning: could be triggering for people with eating disorders (maybe?)
•The Hatake and their wolf-like characteristics used to be well known among shinobi and greatly feared
•however, as their numbers thinned attention turned elsewhere and the clan was all but forgotten
•the individual members were respected for their skill and strength, but the name of their name had lost much of its weight. Lost it’s inherent threat.
•Thus, everyone forgot that the Hatake were closer to canine than any other, including the Inuzuka. Forgot that their minds and bodies were always wired to be a bit more feral than the rest.
•But kakashi hasn’t. How could he when he felt the storm brewing beneath his skin and the howl in the back of his mind. Felt the hunger that wouldn’t be satiated by butcher’s meat and felt the whine of something starved and desperate in the back of his head.
•H e ignored it. He didn’t deserve to feel full, didn’t deserve to be free of pain, didn’t deserve to eat when his mistakes made sure those he loved never could again.
•Kakashi knew he was thinner than he should be. Had weaker chakra than he should considering his heritage, skill, and experience.
•But no one else did. Even deprived of the food Hatake needed to be their best Kakashi surpassed them. No one remembered the stories of the Hatake but him. No one would know that the lack of fresh undrained meat was slowly killing him. He liked it that way.
•Or at least that’s what he thought until his blonde haired student ducked through his apartment window with a serious look painted across vulpine features and a deer slung across his back.
•kakashi couldn’t help the way his body perked at the smell of fresh meat and still warm blood.
•Kakashi didn’t think he deserved to eat when so many of his precious people were dead, but if his student and last connection to his sensei chose to bring him food, Hatake food, because he was worried about him…maybe Kakashi was wrong.
Kakashi needing fresh meat — still warm, still bleeding — but denying himself it because he doesn’t feel like it’s deserved is very in character. Constantly punishing himself for things that are not his fault.
(A pup, he had been just a pup not yet grown into his fangs and still a bit unsteady on his paws when he was forced to find his way in a world of blood and pain. When he was leashed and called a dog.)
Kushina had always looked at him with knowing eyes with hands painted red as she broke down whatever fresh kill she had gotten from… somewhere. Had nuzzled into his hair like his father once had and huffed with dissatisfaction before placing more on his plate.
“Eat. You’re still too hungry, little wolf.”
(Her own meals had also been rather red for polite company, but Minato hadn’t complained. Has smiled at the both of them like he understood.)
Then they were gone.
And Kakashi was alone again.
Long missions with ANBU had meant no one looked twice if he came back with a fresh kill, but he had always passed it off to let it be charred and burnt and broken down in a way that made the wild part of him in the back of his head whine in sorrow. He ignored when Itachi, all seeing as ever even for all he was a pup now, snagging a few too-rare pieces and slipping them into Kakashi’s portion. Ignored now he wanted to growl when his kills were broken down and cooked.
Ignored it all.
Undeserved.
He was a dog now. Not a wolf.
And then, years later when the ninken all nosed his hair and huffed as Kushina once had, as his father once had, when they were returning from ever summons with fresh kills to be laid at his feet and snarling at him when he divvied it up between them instead, when a sunshine kit that was his just as his grumpy little bird and temperamental kitten nuzzled against his side and pulled back with a huff and a sneeze he knew.
Even before Naruto flashed him that fanged smile, half in his window with blood from his kill staining his orange jumpsuit he knew.
Kushina’s son, Minato’s son.
Pack.
And pack always took care of each other. Even if one was being too stubborn to listen.

Trick or treat with the hatake family ( Sakumo,Yua and Kakashi)?
Everything was perfect.
Sakumo looked wonderful in his costume, she looked brilliant, and Kakashi-
Alright, perhaps not everything was perfect.
"Come on, pup," Sakumo dangled the scarecrow's hat out in front of his son. "You told me you wanted to be a scarecrow this year."
"Ya, until you two decided to jump in on my costume idea," Yua couldn't help but giggle when her thirteen-year-old son turned his back to his father. "Now it's just lame."
"It's not that lame," she defended her husband, smiling when Kakashi glared her way. "I think I look good."
"You always look good, mom," he rolled his eyes. "It's dad I don't want to be seen with."
"Ouch," Sakumo cringed. "I'm not that uncool, am I?"
"You're the most uncool person in all of Konoha." she couldn't tell if she was supposed to step up and ease her husband's broken ego or laugh at her son's terrible words. It was always difficult for her to know whose side she was supposed to take.
Especially when her son was telling the truth. His father was uncool.
The lamest man she had ever met in her life
That was exactly why she had fallen in love with him. There wasn't a single person in the world who was like Hatake Sakumo, and she wasn't about to give up such a rare specimen of a man.
Stepping forward, she snatched the hat out of her husband's hand and placed it over Kakashi's head. "Come on," she smiled down at her son. "Halloween is the one day of the year that you're supposed to be proud of having such a lame dad."
"Yua, ouch." Sakumo protested, though when she glanced back at him he was smiling that stupid, goofy smile of his. Clearly, her words hadn't hurt as much as he wanted her to believe.
"It could be worse," she smiled. "He could be calling you dumb."
Sakumo sighed. "Why are you so mean but so right?"
"The downfalls of marrying someone as smart as you," she grinned.
"You're teaching our son to be mean."
"Well," turning her attention to her son, she watched as he peered up at her past the brim of his hat, making the picture-perfect scarecrow. "Maybe he'll be lucky enough to find someone who likes a mean spouse."
Kakashi scrunched his face up in disgust. "And be lovey like you two? no thanks."

Could you give me some Kakaanko family headcanons?
You know what? This tremendously wholesome. Yes, yes I can do this.
Let's keep the trend of three going shall we?
KakaAnko Family Headcanon #1: Kakashi is a spectacular father.
He is kind, patient, loving and very, very funny.
But his way of teaching is questionable at best and Anko sometimes forgets that this man of hers tied Naruto to a tree trunk to teach three preteens a lesson in teamwork.
He gets his lessons across, but he's not afraid to go to extremes if he thinks a lesson has to be taught.
This approach is why Anko found Rei, their eldest daughter, sat on the top of their roof, hiding behind a chimney, badly, one time after coming home from shopping.
She tried to call up to her daughter, but was sharply shushed and took that to mean she needed to go remind her husband not to scare the children.
Rei didn't come down for over an hour and Anko never did find out what lesson Kakashi had been trying to teach her.
KakaAnko Family Headcanon #2: Kakashi and Anko have two daughters. For now, I've not decided if that's it yet.
Rei, the above mentioned roof hider, and Enoki, her baby sister. The age gap between them is about five years. Anko was not prepared to go through another pregnancy until Rei was at least three.
While some women love being pregnant, find it a very wonderful experience and just glow with warmth the entire time, Anko decidedly did not.
She hated being pregnant, and was exceptionally glad when it was over. It wasn't vanity either, she shed her baby weight for the most part and the extra weight she kept filled her out in a way she was very happy with.
But god being pregnant in the last half was hell for her. She hated being so reliant on someone else, even Kakashi, but even that she could stomach, he was her husband.
But when the hormones made her taste buds freak out to the point that she couldn't stand the taste of dango ... yeah. She was fully prepared to not have another baby after Rei.
Enoki exists because Anko changed her mind when her little girl asked her if she was ever going to have a little brother or sister like some of her friends. She'd have given the girl as many siblings as her body could in that moment.
Because Anko is weak to the demands of her daughters when they do the puppy dog eyes. They look too much like their dad when they do that.
KakaAnko Family Headcanon #3: Kakashi was horrified to discover that his baby daughter was scared of him when he wore a mask.
They couldn't figure out why but whenever he approached Enoki, cos Rei had no issue with the mask, she would cry if he was wearing a mask.
And that is how Kakashi was forced to stop wearing a mask. Because it made his infant daughter cry when she couldn't see her Daddy's face.
There you go! These probably won't be quite as long as some of my other headcanons, mostly because I am still fleshing out what my characters are like as parents atm.
This is why the amounts of kids and age differences are in flux, trust nothing on the number and ages of children, or descriptions until they appear in actual stories and not headcanons lol.
Be extra dubious of any non-NaruSaku kids not in stories already. They are prone to change lol.
Thanks for asking!

Bodyguard
Tumblr media
------------------------------------------
Summary: The Council is demanding Kakashi have security personnel. But since he dismantled the old ANBU, no one will be assigned to him until the new ANBU is firmly established. Kakashi has another thought, why not have someone who knows him the best? However, others don't see it that way.
Established relationship, Hokage Kakashi, married couple, Kakashi x OC
Kakashi X Rai
------------------------------------------
"Why not?" Kakashi asked the council. "Wouldn't it be best to have someone who knows me? Rai would be perfect." Around the council room, Kakashi and the elders of Konoha, along with Shikamaru, sat to discuss the latest developments of the village. Heads of notable houses sat around the circular room, while elder shinobi and elected officials sat between them. Kakashi sat at the place for the Hokage, behind a leaf village symbol on the front of the curved table. Behind him, the symbol of fire decorated a banner.
How Kakashi despised these meetings. They were mundane and most of the time the issues were foolish. Most things could be dealt with by the individual, but “protocol” was a curse and had to go through the ranks before anything would be dealt with. As much as Kakashi respected the old ways, he needed to get rid of this. This system had to go and be redone. But it would take much longer to dismantle this than it did the ANBU.
The council men tried to convince him otherwise.
"My lord," one of them tried to be courteous. It was clear everyone was on edge about the topic.
"Stop that My Lord stuff." Kakashi huffed a sigh as he rested his head in his hand.
"Lord Hokage… she's a demon." Finally someone said it. The reason why everyone was against this in the first place.
"So?" Kakashi challenged that comment. What difference did it make that she was a demon? Kakashi could have scuffed at them. "Who better to protect me then my own wife?" There was some murmurs among the council members. Shikamaru heaved a sigh as he sat next to Kakashi.
"And that's the other thing. It's your wife. Emotions get involved. You can't think rationally." Another elder council man gestured with his hands as he addressed Kakashi.
"Rai has more experience in her pinky than any of these other candidates combined." Kakashi told them, pushing the papers away from him.
They had just done a blind vote on the candidates. Blanking out the names and any identifying information before having the present council members vote on who was the most qualified. Of course, when it was revealed as to who it was that they all voted for, the council began to reject and withdraw their votes.
This didn't matter to Kakashi. He had already made up his mind. Rai was going to be his bodyguard despite the council.
"But, my lord… the time of peace may not last. We need to understand what the outside sees. And when they hear, your wife, is at your side, protecting you, what do you think they will say?" The most senior member of the council warned. It was clear he was trying to be misogynistic and poke at Kakashi's pride. But Kakashi would have none of this.
"I don't care about what they think or say." Kakashi didn't care what people said about him. He needed results, not words. Rai was, by far, the best candidate.
"You have a reputation to uphold. With a demon at your side, you might be sending the wrong message." The senior member reminded him. “She is also in charge of the new faction of ANBU. The Dark Chakra and Demonic Entities unit that you advised us was essential.”
“Shouldn't she focus on one thing at a time?” Another council woman asked.
Kakashi and Shikamaru walked down the hall towards the Hokage's office. Once inside, Shikamaru closed the door and turned to face Kakashi's back as the elder went to his desk.
“There has been more than enough time to establish the branch. She can do both. I have faith.” Kakashi pressed.
Tumblr media
“You might want to reconsider, Kakashi.” Shikamaru voiced. “I understand Rai is the best option and she knows you well. But it is intimidating to have a demon next to you.”
Kakashi gave a slight glare to Shikamaru after he sat down in the chair behind his desk. Not him too.
“You also have kids, on top of her being the head of that new demon ANBU branch.” Shikamaru tried his best to reason with him. “She's going to be stretched thin. I don't think you want to do that to your own wife.” Shikamaru knew if he did that to Temari, he wouldn't have a place to call home anymore. Along with her probably castrating him. “Just reconsider your options. They are right. The time of peace may not last.”
“Who better to be at my side in case something does happen?” Kakashi pressed him.
Excusing himself, Shikamaru went to try and find Rai before anything else got out of hand. Strolling the streets, he didn't really know where to look for her. Perhaps she would be shopping for the kids?
Shikamaru sighed. This wasn't going how he wanted. “Sounds like your mind is already made up.”
Tumblr media
Heaving a sigh, he headed towards the address he quickly searched for before leaving.
There was a knock at the door. Who could that be? Rai snuck her chakra out as she got to the door. It was a friend. A familiar scent crossed her nose. Opening the door, she was surprised to see Shikamaru there.
“Shikamaru? What can I do for you?” Rai asked before glancing back to make sure her kids were still inside but not within ear shot. Not being able to hear them in any mischief, she turned back to the young man at her door.
Shikamaru stuffed his hands in his pockets. “Rai, can I talk to you?”
“Sure.” Rai carefully stepped outside and almost shut the door behind her. Just a sliver of the door remained open, enough for Rai to clearly hear any of the kids if something were to happen.
“All right, this is a drag,” He mentioned as his hand went up to hang off his neck. “So I'm just gonna cut to the chase.” Allowing his hand to fall back to his side, he looked back up at Rai's brown eyes. “Kakashi is gonna ask you to be his bodyguard.” The blink gave it away that she was shocked and not expecting this. Rai felt honored. Of course she would do it. Yes, it may be a bit of a stretch with the kids and the new branch. “I want you to decline.” He was direct in his command to the point of being harsh.
Her brown eyebrow quirked in curiosity. “Why…” Rai drawled out the question. There had to be some kind of catch here.
“It's not where you should be.” Rai took offense to this. Shifting to rest her weight more on one leg, she crossed her arms over her chest. Now, he was getting a scrutinizing look from her. Crap. What did he say? “Kakashi needs to work and having you there would be-”
“A distraction?” Rai interjected, her tone condescending. Who did this boy think he was? The Nara head didn't understand the relationship Rai and Kakashi had prior to them dating and getting married.
Fuck. What did he get himself into? Shikamaru scrambled his brain to try and explain himself, “No, he just needs someone who can watch out for him.”
“And I don't do that already?” She questioned him. His comment rubbed her the wrong way. Rai had always looked out for Kakashi. If anything were to happen, Rai would be the first one to know before anyone else.
Shikamaru stood his ground, despite feeling like he was going to lose this verbal discussion. “Look, there's just too much emotion involved between you two.”
Rai closed her eyes and took in a breath. Irritation left her with the air she expelled. “Shikamaru, Kakashi was my ANBU Captain first and foremost.” Opening her eyes, she looked up as she began to explain their history. “We worked together for years. I highly doubt that being professional would be an issue.”
“There's also the fact that, besides being his wife, you are a demon.” And there it was. The main reason as to why he was against this from the very beginning, along with all the other council members. Why was being a demon such a bad thing? “A demon at the side of the Hokage doesn't quite make a friendly appearance to other countries.” There was merit to that comment. No lie was detected. A demon at the side of any ruler made for an intimidating factor when negotiating.
“If it's discretion you are worried about, maybe you should consult my training.” Rai heard one of her kids starting to fuss. It sounded like Kanami. Shifting to stand equally on both feet, she reached behind her to the doorknob, indicating she was done talking. “Thank you for alerting me, Shikamaru.” She said quickly as she started to turn to head into her home.
“Please decline his offer.” Shikamaru's words caused her to stop. “You're making a big mistake. Think of your kids.” Shikamaru tried one last ploy. “If something happened to both of you-”
Later that week, Rai found herself in the Hokage's office, standing in front of her husband. Kakashi leaned back on the front of the desk, crossing his ankles as he rested his hands next to his hips on the ledge of the wood.
Rai raised her hand. Shikamaru quickly silenced his mouth. “Thank you. But I believe that decision is up to me.” Rai insisted. “I will talk to Kakashi about his options.” With those words, Rai slipped back into her house and shut the door behind her.
Tumblr media
“Rai, good. You're here.” Kakashi had called her in concerning something that had been brewing. “How's things going with the new branch?” He was genuinely curious. They rarely talked about work outside, especially in front of the kids.
“New applicants are being looked over.” Rai commented. “Not many people applied.” She had to tell him the truth. No one wanted to go through more training.
Kakashi curled a finger around his chin. It was just as Sai mentioned. Not a lot of interest was taken in the new branch. “Sai did mention having a basic knowledge of dark chakra and demons as a part of the new ANBU might not be a bad idea.”
“I would not be opposed to it.” Rai responded. Actually, she liked that idea. Even if it wasn't thorough, just having a bit of knowledge might help.
Kakashi looked up at his wife. “If it is doable, I would like for the new recruits to begin training immediately on the subject.” Rai gave a single nod.
“I can get on that immediately.” Rai went to bow and dismiss herself.
“Ah, Rai.” Kakashi called to her noticing she was going to retreat. “There was something else I wanted to talk to you about.” Rai looked up and righted herself. “Actually, it is more of a request than anything.” His gray eyes looked off to the side before locking back with her brown eyes. “I would like for you to be my bodyguard.” He saw her eyebrow quirk. This small gesture didn't sit well with him. Living with her for years, he was tuned into her quirks and reactions. He was expecting a blink from her. Not this. “You're the perfect person, you know me, we've worked together for years. You're strong, you only need a little bit of training.” There was nothing wrong with his words, nor was he being overbearing. But he had a feeling Shikamaru got to her.
“I'm a demon.” She said bluntly. Kakashi blinked at her statement. “On top of that. I'm your wife.” Her words were crisp and precise.
“Who better to watch after me? And if things get hairy, I can always trust you to get me out.” Kakashi reassured her. Also, he would feel much better with her by his side. Just the smallest gesture and she would know something was wrong. Why was it that people weren't seeing how good it would be to have Rai by his side? It would be easy!
“Kakashi, you want to keep peace with other countries, not intimidate them.” Rai didn't seem too enthused about the idea to make her his bodyguard.
“Shikamaru got to you.” Kakashi sighed, his head lulling forward. There were pros and cons with every individual. Rai's pros vastly outweighed her cons. At least in his eyes.
“Yes. But he's right. As many good things as I would bring to the table, there are consequences.” Rai elaborated.
“Your protection is what I need.” Kakashi stressed as he looked back up at her. “Forget what the others think or say. Your loyalty, your drive to protect, is unmatched.” At his comment, Rai felt her cheeks warm. “You would know if something was off before anyone else ever would.” There was a bit of silence between them. Kakashi felt a little disheartened that Rai didn't accept his proposal. Perhaps if he gave her an option. “Just give it a shot. If not. Then we will find someone else. And you could train them.” Kakashi wasn't sold on his last comments. There was a part of him that didn't feel like he would be getting the utmost protection. With everything that Rai had taught Kakashi about demons, he knew how fiercely loyal wolf demons were. Which is why he wanted her by his side. There would be no question as to where her loyalties lied.
Seconds went by as Rai mulled over the proposal in her head. She nodded in agreement. She accepted the terms.
