Drop your Madara headcannons 🧠 💣
Hi! This is going to be quite a long list. Didn't add every single hc because I'm planning on writing a little fanfic and don't want to spoil some details to you hehe. Anyways, hope you enjoy! Some of these are very oddly specific, this man occupies at least half my brain if not more.
🔥 misc!
* He drinks his tea boiling hot. Burning your tongue? Never heard of it
* Is actually good at cooking and makes the most out of any ingredient available. Growing up in war, he knows how to make meals out of anything.
* Has a pillow to cuddle in bed! The dude is lonely.
* Very elegant and expensive hanko to stamp his documents. A clan leader needs to be fancy sometimes!
* Neat freak. Never has his house messy or his clothes out of place. Even his hair strands are calculated.
* Is actually able to mend/sew his clothes very well if some stitches are damaged during training.
* Sleeps a maximum of 6 hours a day, minimum of 30 minutes. The amount of sleep he gets is like playing a roulette (ever seen the eyebags? yeah)
* Speaking about the eyebags. His eyebags are both sunken and protruding (based on my personal experience of being sleep deprived+stressed) the lower eyelid pops out a little and the dark circles extend more.
* The man is physically unable to go out in social settings during the day. Only has social battery for the night. If he has to do some sort of diplomatic celebration with other clan leaders or kage during the day, he’ll leave the talking to someone better at social gatherings like Hashirama.
* Has houseplants both for decoration and for cooking. We’re talking pretty succulents and mint plants or peach trees.
* The type of guy to wake up and immediately jump out of bed. Things have to be done everyday and he doesn’t trust people to do things the way he likes.

* Shaves to perfection every single morning, no excuses. Takes a little razor to missions, hates the feeling of facial hair growing. Trims his eyebrows as well. The Sharingan needs a pretty frame, right?
* The gloves have 2 purposes: protecting his hands from getting calluses or any form of damage due to the metal handle of the gunbai, kusarigama, etc and to hide burn scars (courtesy of @madaraservingcunt go follow her!)
* Continuing with the gloves, they’re made out of leather or thick cotton. Maybe has several sets of them for different activities.
* Smells like a mix of wood (cedar or pine), soot/ash, aloe and maybe lavender or wild daisy.
* Skincare and haircare? He’s VERY serious about these. Aloe vera facial masks for soothing the itchiness of constant katonjutsu, washes face with caution, rice water to keep his hair shiny, protective hairstyles to not damage the long hair strands, bamboo hairbrush to retain the natural oils, etc.
* Either has thick straight hair or textured and slightly wavy hair, definitely cut in layers. The wavy hair would make more sense as it poofs up when dry but looks rather straight when wet, taking into account the scenes of the battle in the Valley of the End (thank you Indra for the wavy hair and gorgeous mane genetics). Definitely loves his hair, fav part about himself.
* The bandages above his ankles are to keep the pants in place because his calves are thin and not very muscular, a small insecurity when he was a teen.
* Speaking of the terrible teens, he got grumpy whenever he got a breakout, zit, etc.
* Has mixed/dry, sensible skin. Dealt with painful and itchy sores due to lack of skin hydration while in war.
* Is a bit ashamed of his height and body proportions (i.e. wishing he was taller, less lean and more bulky, broader shoulders). These were regular nuisances during his teens but he eventually controlled the insecurities in adulthood, not managing to make them disappear completely nonetheless.
🍡 food!
* The databooks say that his fav food is inarizushi, so I've added that he likes similar things: onigiri, temaki, nigirizushi, tamagoyaki or even gyoza.
* Eats with little pleasure, only to fuel his body or whatever. That changes when Konoha is founded and he can actually enjoy and taste his meals.
* Dislikes greasy foods. Not a fan of ramen or katsudon, gyoza has to be boiled and would never eat tempura or ebi furai.
* Has a sweet tooth. We're talking dango, wagashi, dorayaki and more. However, only Izuna knew about this. Can't have a clan leader that eats candy like a little child.
* Prefers his sake cold and drinks mostly umeshu in informal gatherings.
* Actually likes fruit. I have no reason for believing this but he has the face of a man who likes fresh fruit. Fav fruit is persimmons or apples.
* Was malnourished as a child, giving away his food to his brothers or clansmen. Eventually took a toll on his muscle growth and height.
* Eats very light breakfast (maybe tea and some rice with nori or miso soup with wakame), heavy lunch (meat or fish, rice, more tea and other side dishes), no dinner.
* Favourite tea is jasmine or pu'erh, mostly drinks green tea and actually enjoys a good ceremonial matcha.

I have to confess that i've never finished Naruto, thus never ventured into the Warring States period etc.
I think i dropped the show/manga around Naruto's training with Kakashi, but you can't escape the internet, so i may not know all of what happens, but i do know about certain events that happen in the story.
Anyway, when you dropped your "Regulus Uchiha" AU idea i was simultaneously loving it while wondering -"who the hell is Izuna?". And then went and read the story you recommended - "Count Your Blessings" and became OBSESSED with fics depicting Tobirama(!), Madara, Izuna, and Hashirama. Thanks a bunch ;A; What is sleep, there is only AO3 ;A;
Sorry for the long intro, what i'm getting at is - what would the meeting between Tobirama and Regulus be like? What would their interactions be like? Would there even be any? I can't get this out of my head now ;A;

Tobirama is amazing and this fic was the one that made me actually sit down and think about how much shit this one dude actually contributed to Konoha. And sure, he made mistakes but name one leader or authority figure in the Naruto world that didn't.
As for Tobirama and Regulus - these two become best friends much to the consternation of literally every Uchiha. They're always hanging out, whether to talk business or just to spend time together - what precious little they have of it, in those first few years. Regulus becomes one of the only people who can keep up with Tobirama mentally, and Tobirama is just endlessly fascinated with Regulus' magic and could talk theories with him for hours. They're just in their own little happy experimenting / sciency bubble most of the time and it's both terrifying and beneficial for Konoha as a whole because Regulus is often the one to propose ideas (indoor plumbing, electricity, better resourcing and production techniques, etc.) and Tobirama is the only one smart and driven enough to be like "hold my beer" while he revolutionises an entire industry just because Regulus told him stories from his own world and Tobirama wants to see if he can recreate it (spoil: he can).
Izuna is offended because he's the one who's been closest to Regulus from the beginning and Tobirama is his rival so why is he cosying up to another Uchiha????? He feels like he's being cheated on twice. (But Regulus and Tobirama being buddies is a godsend in some ways because it puts Tobirama in Izuna's path more often in a way that Madara can't get all huffy about, so Izuna does change his tune quickly and the duo becomes a trio)
Madara is just suffering. He's had to deal with Izuna's not-so-subtle obsession with Tobirama for almost twenty years now, and just when he thought he had Izuna at a continuous, safe distance from the one dude who could probably squash him like a bug - his other (adopted) brother is suddenly attached to the guy at the hip.
Then he blinks and Izuna has now muscled his way into this mess and Madara just throws his hands up and accepts that Tobirama will end up living in his clan compound one day either because Regulus will just have the guy move in with him so they can be besties forever and ever or because Izuna will somehow convince himself that making Tobirama an Uchiha too would be a brilliant idea (through marriage or adoption, Madara is too scared to ask. With Izuna, he can never tell.).

And Obito who was the silly older brother that always was sneaking out and ruffling her hair. Her older sister said he was adopted and she shouldn’t waste her time with him(?), but he’d always been there for her
One of her earliest memories was Obito playing with her on the playgset he seemed too big for
Then one Saturday, she was introduced to Shisui. Her new older brother.
Shisui was debonair. He could do all the dances that Obito always stepped on her feet trying to do
He never messed up her hair and let her have his pudding without her asking she didn’t have to ask, she was starring at it while practically drooling
As they all grew up and left home, Michi decided to move in with her Father per his request.
By then she knew her presence at her original home would only bring her mom and papa more problems.
She’s a Madara daughter and had an understanding that life she once perceived as normal, was anything but.
She loves her father, brothers, sisters, and uncle, but they’re very dangerous people.
More than once she has used her fathers favor to leave Obito be. He’s happier than she’s ever seen him and that’s do to his chosen family. He doesn’t need to be involved in serious crimes and possibly lose everything he’s worked for 💀
She’s a very kind and soft spoken person, will give you the short off her back if you need it. but she is also a black belt and carries a gun at all times. Don’t mess with her.
Sells handmade soaps because they make her happy 😊
She was pretty sure every man that talked to her only did so because of who her father was and what they can gain from marrying her
The idea of marriage put a bad taste in her mouth thanks to these suitors throwing themselves at her (bro, you like my dad, not me.)
But she did get heart eyes when the Hyuga angel of death stuck up for her during one of Obito’s matches.
She was seconds away from breaking that guys nose (possible connections be damned), but chivalry is not dead and he looked so cool doing it 🥹 
She’d seen him around for years at some of the meetings, so it only seemed natural that she offered to thank him with a gift of gratitude
She was aware of the side glances of the Hyuga when she and her bodyguards stepped into their territory, but given she cleared it with their boss beforehand (she wanted to thank one of his men and him, how could he say no?)
It was at that meeting that Michi gained some respect for herself from Hinata and Neji. It’s also when she personally got their phone numbers for business
But over time texting Neji and him responding within the day became the normal. He even showed up to spar with her when she invited him
She wouldn’t tell Madara about this for Neji’s safety
His proposition of a marriage blindsided her a bit. Become a Hyuga bride?! HIM TELLING HER HIS INTENTIONS IS ONLY A FORMALITY!? She thought he lost his mind
But the more he explained, the better it sounded. A wife in title only; she’s free to do as she pleases in most ways (just no additional lovers and she has to show up to at least two events a year), she’ll have her own room, a hefty allowance on top of her own earnings, live in maids and cooks, this is good way to calm both sides, only be expected to provide one heir (they can use ivf), he’s not very interested in sex but is more than confident he can preform if she decides she wants it, an official contract with all the terms that really protect her, and she can add her own stipulations to it?
All of it sounded too good to be true until he explained he’s probably going to benefit the most from their union. With their marriage, he’d be next inline to be the Hyuga boss. He’s done the footwork, he just would appreciate her cooperation 
He was basically offering her luxury life without love, which if she was honest, she never expected a love story in her life
She also wasn’t expecting her father to give her the option of what she actually wanted to do here
Her yes came under the condition that Neji would at least spend time with her. She doesn’t truly know him and would like to at least know him as a person. The goof and the bad.
Their wedding was a blur to her, expect for hearing some guy with bushy brows on Neji’s side crying loudly. Never in her life did she think she’d be married to a Hyuga
Their wedding night.. she was very surprised with herself and what he could make her body do “not very interested”, didn’t mean he was virgin like she expected
She became the wife that tries to do it all. She wasn’t allowed to clean up messes or cook at home, so it’s fun to her and she gives the staff a lot of paid for vacation days (her allowance being put to good use)
Neji trying her food makes her feel happy and him trying to make his home hers too
Half the time it’s just him politely spitting it out in a napkin and doing it over himself while telling her about a cooking class he’s heard of from Hanabi
His grumpy look when she explains on of the dramas she’s watching as he gets furious over the lead’s stupidity is the cutest in her opinion
What she’s most happy about is that he’ll cuddle her back. She hasn’t had cuddles sense she moved out of her Mom and papa’s place
She adores the cat he got for her! He’s literally the best husband If you ask her
She really like the Lee guy that’s always around and enthusiastic, he makes for a great morning run partner
She’s also the more forward one in their sex life and will make the first move if he’s looking at her with sudden interest

I made like five really long comments on this tumblr post I came across and I hate @ing people so I won’t but it was essentially another HashiMada vs MadaTobi vs IzuTobi vs… uh whatever else there is and here are my two cents.
Before I begin, we’re on tumblr. Yes, we’re making this up. We met the founders for like two episodes or whatever like. Yeah. This is an anime about moon aliens trying to take over the world because some not-grandpa somehow spent 80 years alone in a cave surviving on resentment and sheer spite alone. Don’t give me that bullshit. If you didn’t actually care about made-up stories/romances you wouldn’t be here.
Moving on.
In regards to the HashiMada/MadaTobi/IzuTobi argument, I have one main point that blows every (Hashirama) ship argument out of the water:
Mito Uzumaki.
Okay, backtracking.
To summarize these ships, I think HashiMada, when viewed romantically, is too sweet and… typical, yknow? Like stereotypical Romeo and Juliet and yeah I like the occasional Hashimada post, yknow, it’s not BAD it’s just… meh. IzuTobi is fun because they can have an incredibly strong rivalry going on, but I think Izuna is waaay too toxic/aggressive for anyone… he’s like… he gives me… like… *squints* incel vibes sometimes yknow? It’s so hard to explain, but I know exactly what I mean. Now, MadaTobi? Gorgeous. In the anime/manga they’re like perfect opposites yknow? Well, not PERFECT like SNS but like… so complimentary (kinda… ish).
Okay look, Hashi and Mito are very complimentary. Bright red/white vs earthy green/brown. Girl boss vs malewife. Incredibly intelligent vs incredibly powerful. I love HashiMito, they’re just so good for each other.
On the other hand, HashiMada is a little strange because they don’t mesh so well; earthy green/brown vs angry red/black/purple, malewife vs Tired DadTM, both ridiculous powerhouses, one centered around peace and prosperity while the other is centered around his family. It CAN work but it’s not nearly as poetic and perfect (and yes I mean PERFECT) as HashiMito is. Again, no problem with HashiMada but… Madara is not The One for Hashirama, yknow? I’m all for the gays but come on, you’re gonna overlook an icon like Mito? Unacceptable.
Now I can’t say I understand Izuna very well but I do understand (I think) Madara and Tobirama decently well. Back to compliments, angry red/black/purple vs icy blue/white/red aren’t COMPLIMENTARY but it is very indicative of Tobirama and Madara’s natures. Tired DadTM vs Adopts-all-the-strays single mother, family centered vs found family/family of choice centered, incredibly powerful vs incredibly intelligent (wait a minute, that sounds a little familiar…), and (my fav) a very rough exterior to hide a very hurt, war-traumatized person underneath (Hashirama was always a little too… idealistic to truly understand that no, you can’t stop fighting your ancestral enemy just because you WANT to).
Again, I dont really have Izuna pegged very well but… he’s just a little sus (and whiny seriously I’ll never get over him snitching on Madara and Hashirama at the river or his constant dOnT tRuSt ThE sEnJu like bitch (lovingly, tiredly) shut up) ((I don’t hate Izuna!! He’s just… a brat actually that’s kind of the theme with younger Uchiha brothers lol))
Uh, I feel like people won’t understand my characterizations so here is how I understand the founders which may not be correct/what was intended but I don’t care and neither should you:
Hashirama - eldest son which usually implies having the heaviest load (for example, Madara) but he’s actually a little spoiled. His enthusiasm/generally cheery demeanor isn’t like Naruto’s (a coping mechanism and also he’s a little dumb because no one ever taught him otherwise or gave him the time of day), it’s more like he’s JUST like that. He’s incredibly short sighted/narrow minded. Spending the entire war blowing up entire battlefields for fun (he didn’t kill anyone, sure, but he didn’t help anyone either) just to fight with his friend knowing he’s going to deny all overtures of peace? Yes, Hashirama will survive the battle, but his clansmen won’t. He’s striving for peace so the children can have better lives but… his method is so… terrible. He’s just not the brightest bulb even if he has good intentions. So, malewife, super powerful, idealistic.
Mito - cant say I know her incredibly well but I know she’s incredibly smart (her little chakra diamond thing on her head already displays a sort of forward thinking Hashirama is incapable of) which is a different kind of powerful but powerful nonetheless, she’s Uzushio’s princess so… take from that what you will, I just think it further pushes her need to be intelligent to be able to survive being royalty.
Madara - right, Tired DadTM means like Madara is always so worried about his brother and his clan mates. He is driven by the need to protect them, something that typically male animals in nature have in common: the NEED to protect what is theirs. Madara is smart, sure, but more than that he’s incredibly powerful (Mokuton alone puts Hashirama leagues above the rest of the ninja world, to be able to compete with that and survive without the god ex-machina that is Mokuton is quite the testament to Madara’s abilities as a ninja) Madara doesn’t care about peace for peace’s sake but rather for his clan and family’s sake (which is why it’s all the more detrimental when peace is achieved but when the main reason he worked towards it is gone, Madara drifts astray)
Tobirama: my beloved. He’s an idiot but he’s the smartest man in the room ALWAYS. Where his brother will always be stronger (and coincidentally the strongest ever), Tobirama is a genius. (Jutsu creation is NOT an easy feat, much less what is essentially teleportation via what amounts to scribbles of ink of paper) while Hashirama got to live in his happy little bubble of “ooh like at the nice boy I met at the river I’m sure nothing could go wrong there!” and “I am guaranteed the seat of power because of my status of clan head’s first son and mokuton wielder” Tobirama got none of the above. A weirdo in every sense (albino, freakishly intelligent, lacking in a few moral codes that keep most other people from fucking with mortality (which, yes, was a coping mechanism from his brothers dying in his childhood but not the point)), Tobirama has a completely different worldview than his brother. When they do achieve peace, Tobirama focuses on his brother’s goal more than his own brother: peace for the children. While Tobirama, war-traumatized and just a little socially inept, goes about it in the worst way it is still the only way he knows. He adopts all the strays and nurtures them to the point where they won’t NEED protection (in animals, this is typically the female’s role *hint hint*) ((how well his methods work is also debateable *COUGH COUGH* danzo *COUGH COUGH*)) oh and the family of choice thing referred to his band of gremlins from different clans
If you’re the type of person to say “ToBiRaMa WaS rAcIsT” then I know you have never experienced true racism in your life. I am a queer gender-fluid (most often perceived as a woman, idfc) person of color who has experienced ALL SORTS of -isms and -phobias, don’t tell me your male anime characters (WHO ARE ALL THE SAME RACE) are being RACIST to each other when they LITERALLY CANNOT BE. Was Tobirama particularly prejudiced and bigoted towards a specific clan? Yes. 100%. Was it justified? That is up to the reader to decide (((a little))). Was he racist? Go fuck yourself.

I love this whole thing, but there's two main ways I can see an AU/crossover unfolding.
1) LoZ as Narutoverse: so we're talking, Konoha is a fallen kingdom, the different clans are the different people's wandering around, maybe some Bijuu instead of the four guardian machines from BotW, someone in the cast can wield a Legendary Sword (👀 overlap?) And needs help in saving their magical counterpart? It would need a LOT of editing to work, but this could be as insanely beautiful as the actual LoZ game worlds are! Or, with a slightly different vibe, instead of keeping characters, you apply the spirit of the game world to Naruto. This is good for a lot of different Naruto protagonists because it mimics post-apocalyptic AUs: we could have Kakashi, adopting stray kids (team seven) on the road as he tries to work towards defeating the greater darkness (Kaguya? Madara? Who knows, up to you). You have Shisui, mortally wounded, coming back from death to find his clan gone and the villages scattered. You have Naruto, sealed with a demon, trying to pick up the pieces of a culture that was once his but he can no longer remember. Maybe, Minato is fighting to seal the darkness for Kakashi, maybe it's the Avatar of Konoha herself for Shisui, maybe it's Kushina the mother Naruto has forgotten until the very last moment...! Maybe this option is more about finding scraps of Shinobi techniques in ruins, with Zetsu monsters and ROOT assassins lurking around every corner, maybe it's about Hashirama speaking through the trees and Tobirama as one of the great sky dragons, maybe Itachi is stuck inside the painted murals, maybe Ino befriended her bodyguard and was then kidnapped and Shisui must save her, there's a lot of space here!
2) Naruto Characters falling into LoZ universes: if it's Shisui, maybe blind and poisoned, then the Sheikah could put him in the healing bath beside Link and they wake and work together for the LoZ plotline. OP!Shisui, no doubt even if there is "no chakra" etc etc, but who said that spoils the fun? I've read some amazing LoZ fics and a few of them have included the limits of the game in the plot; how does Link travel, how does he revive after dying so often, how does reality loop after defeating Ganon, etc etc etc, it's always so interesting! You could even include a lot of Narutoverse angst in this, like Edo Tensei or Izanagi parallels. Shisui, who would have died and woken in a new place, could really get involved on this front.
ANBU wearing the Stealth Sheikah set, ROOT are their Yiga counterparts. Kankuro in a Gerudo veil, Gaara guiding a huge sandstorm monster, Temari dripping with jewels. Kisame is a prince of the Zora, Utakaka is the only one who ever made friends with the water beast, Zabuza wanders the roads looking for bandits to take down. The artwork for this stuff would be so *chefs kiss*

Madara steps into the hot tub and lets out a sigh of satisfaction as his skin comes into contact with the water. He was forced to take a shower before he could enjoy the bath, washing off all the dust and grime he had gained from his afternoon's training.
Not a day goes with him missing a chance to move around and use the training grounds of the Uchiha compound, dragging Izuna or Hikaku along with him.
His nights, for the most part, are spent in clan meetings and political discussions. His mornings, in gatherings with Hashirama, leading the new stage of peace many opposed. Being highly needed everywhere, a small part of his afternoons is all he can devote to himself, without having to take care of anything or anyone else.
When he returns home, he is always exhausted, having slumped under his own demands and still dealing with the annoyingly traditional Uchiha elders.
There are just a few nights when they give him a break and allow him to relax with (Y/N). When it happens, Madara fears they are planning a war behind his back.
But today, for example, the Uchiha has the night off, and (Y/N) plans to take care of him.
In first instance, she forced him into the bathroom, preventing the man from getting to cook something for them both, and being the one who prepares a romantic evening. It's hard to keep him from taking over, but (Y/N) set out to be the one pampering him tonight, and there's no way he's going to turn the tables.
After grumbling and complaining several times with phrases such as "No need, really, I'm fine, let me take care of you, woman" the Uchiha reluctantly agreed to be shoved into the hot tub, but was thankful for it the second he sat down.
In his distraction of pleasure, she also gets into the water, but instead of sitting across from him, she sits on his back. "Hey, that's unfair... why won't you let me see you?"
"Because if I sit in front of you, it won't be long before you pounce on me, and I'd rather be able to spoil you before it comes to that point. Now hush, and let me treat you."
Whatever complaint the man thought of exclaiming died immediately on his lips as (Y/N) began to run soap all over the plains of his back, detailing the shoulders, his arms, and his neck.
It formed a slick surface on his skin, over which she slid her hands, applying pressure to the spots she knew were full of knots. (Y/N) Could swear her husband was purring like a cat under her hands, tilting his head forward and tying his hair into a high ponytail to get it out of the way.
"Your hands are a treasure, (Y/N). This wasn't necessary, but..."
"I said shhh Madara, just let me take care of you."
"If you wouldn't interrupt me, you might have heard how I was going to be thankful for your massages, you knucklehead... Thank you."
"This is just the beginning, my love."
Once she's finished scrubbing his back, (Y/N) quickly rinses away all traces of soap and helps him untie his hair to wash it as well. Completely clean, she allows him to help her clean herself, just so he won't complain later about not letting him do anything in return.
Finished with the bath, they both dry off with their respective towels and proceed to the bedroom. Before Madara can begin to dress, she quickly puts on her clothes and stops him, instructing him to lie down on the bed, with only the towel wrapped around his waist.
"What are you planning now, you little minx?"
"How many times do I need to tell you to be quiet and let me get on with my plan?”
Indulging her, the Uchiha moves into the requested position and feels his wife climb on top of him, until she is sitting on his bottom. Suddenly, there’s a cool sensation on his skin, and he feels how her hands spread cream all over his back.
The real massage begins now and makes what she previously did in the bath seem like gentle caresses.
She works over all his knots with determination, resolved to leave him as good as new and pain-free. She strategically remembers the areas Madara had complained about on several occasions, paying special attention to rid him of all discomfort.
The Uchiha verbally demonstrates his satisfaction with (Y/N)'s movements, grunting every time she manages to undo a knot.
After about fifteen minutes, all the woman hears is her husband's snoring, dismounting from his back and finding that he has fallen asleep. She removes the excess cream from his spine and pulls off the damp towel, covering him with the quilt for him to sleep peacefully.
She will enjoy the dinner she prepared for the two of them alone, and save his plate for tomorrow.

The House of the dragon 1x01 (none reader review)
Coming back to Game of throne HBO show, three years after the infamous finale season 8 is a bit like coming back with an ex after a torrid love affair and a messy break up. Yeah, that was hot but do I really want to go through the same meltdown again?
I've read Game of throne books up to the dance of dragon and watched the 8 seasons of the show, but I haven't read Fire and blood inspiring the house of the dragon. No spoils please!!
Initially my answer was "no, never again" but after watching the first trailers in spring, I was more " ok maybe just one more time?". HBO was really playing music in my ears with more targaryens, more authenticity to the novel, more dragons...
I was the perfect target audience for this spin-off. I really never been that much interesting about neither the Starks, the Nighwatch, and the Others. However I've always been a big fan of Daenerys and really invested into her storyline. Long story short, I'm not against the idea she ended up mad queen, but I think season 8 rushed her struggle with sanity and make it difficult to believe it.
House of the dragon (HOTD) comes like a sincere apologise and a promise to do better. It expands Daenerys Targaryen's tragic story 172 years before her birth. in GOT the targaryens are already gone, Daenerys is born orphan after the downfall of her family she doesn't know much about her culture but what her brother retold her and him also was a child. Dragons were suppose to have disappeared decades before her birth so when she awoke three it comes like a miracle. She didn't really know how to raise them and so do we.
The first episode of HOTD took really great care of old GOT viewers. This pilot was like a date, everything was done to make us comfortable and familiar with the universe : Targaryen's theme was very present, GOT's theme closed the episode for the nostalgia, here some long dialogues around a cup of wine, here some ultra graphic depiction of violence, here some crude sex, here some expensive costumes, here amazing landscape, and here amazing dragons.
Yes it's GOT, but with a complete different flavour almost two centuries ago. I especially love all the scenes with Rhaenyra, our new main character who where a nod to her descendant Daenerys.
Lol the opening scene gave me PTSD😅 last time we saw a dragon above King's Landing it didn't end well... so it's amusing to see we are in a different timeline, nobody is surprise to see a dragon flying above the city. The same dragon above the funeral pyre is an allusion to Daenerys's judgment against the Tarly family. And of course Rhaenyra in front of the throne reminds us Daenerys' final dream of power.
About the new plot in itself the approach seems original. Yes it's still about political struggle: who will succeed the king? but this time it's entirely focused on a deep family feud who happened to control dragons. And this intimacy kind of surprise me. We get use to pompous dialogues, epic war, machiavellian scheme. That will come later because hey! it's still GRR Martin's universe but in this first episode they chose a very human's angle. People think of Targaryens as Godlike because of their control of dragons but without them, they are just like everybody. We see all the main characters dealing with succession in a patriarchal society, the absence of woman consentement during pregnancy, jealousy and envy betweens brothers, dealing with mourning of loved one, hope in dream, sacrifice for power.
King Viserys : Don't ask me why but for some reason he reminds me a lot of Hashirama Senju. Dreamer, easy-going. He seems to not realise how many snakes are around him ready to attack. I love how the actor Paddy Considine plays a well-balanced character, who can take hard decision if needed I was touched by his grief. But as his brother noticed he is really naive about people...
Ah, the brother.... Daemon Targaryen: you can already tell he's going to be the star of this show. Matt Smith's talent is not a surprise for me, I've seen him already in the Crown when he was playing Prince Philip, the Queen's consort. And he already have this talent for playing haughty aristocrat, both attractive and annoying. Prince Daemon is much more rogue, impatient, with a taste for violence. I can't say yet if he is in my top tier because his first action was a big mistake. He was already his brother's heir, all he has to do was to wait and be nice with his brother and niece. But he celebrates his victory too soon and get kicked out. In the same time if he hasn't done anything they'll be no story right😅? So for now I'm like : ok I like his wildness, good villain vibe detected, I can feel the character is much more complex, but I need to see more because for know he's not the sharpest mind...
Rhaenyra : for now she is my favourite, it was easy to like her. She resembles Daenerys both physically and in her attitude. She has the same problem : being a women in a position where everyone is expecting a man. But contrary to her descendant she was not alone. She seems to have a loving family, wealthy and comfortable childhood inside the royal court. Power, dragon and affluence but for how long....? I can feel her life is going to be very difficult. No one is ready to accept her easily as heiress to the throne, will she stay close to her childhood friend Alicent, herself representing her family's interest? And also how will develop her closeness to her uncle Daemon? There is in one side their rivalry to the throne and also we know Targaryens and their openness to incest... so I'm ready to any morally grey situations... 😬
Princess Rhaenys and Lord Corlys : We haven't seen much yet but this couple is intriguing. Rhaenys is called the Queen who never was. Will she accept Rhaenyra becoming heiress to a title she once was legitimate for? And also why her husband is defending Prince Daemon so much during the council lol at some point I thought Daemon was paying his bills lol.
My critics : I was expecting more original scores. They probably choose to play safe for the first episode. GOT's theme is a signature. I think I've never skipped it during the 8 seasons because it emerges you into the universe and there is always tiny details in the opening credits, changing when the story progresses. I've enjoy listened to it again during the ending but I'm ready for a new show having his own identity, I'm expected an original opening next episode for House of the dragon.
To put it in a nutshell, it's an excellent start, I love the plot and actors I'm ready for more drama and bloodshed. And gosh how I missed dragons !🔥🔥🔥

mito: ok idk if she counts but if she does.. she is SO COOL? i'm really really hoping she gets some good moments when we learn more about founders era, don't have high hopes but from what i know so far, she's mega powerful. i don't remember if she actually wanted to marry hashirama or not though? i think it'd be interesting if it was arranged bc i'd want to know her feelings on that. i like her a lot
madara: uh.. yeah i'm on episode 304, so he's currently a bit. Hm. i am aware of all the secret identity things, but not too detailed so please don't spoil me even further lmao 😭😭 yeah usual stuff i didn't really care for him. he was just the overhyped oo super powerful guy but i couldn't really see him as a.. person?? i guess? but from the little fancontent i've interacted with, my opinion on him has drastically changed recently... bc yeah, the uchiha clan is not full of hatred, they just love so so hard. i know a bit about his thing w hashirama, and how the war against the senju lost him a lot of family, so he honestly just feels.. sorta tragic to me? i don't know his goals rn, or much of what he did in the past, but i am very very interested.
izuna: i like him. don't @ me i have already learned he basically is just a side character with like 2 scenes. but that's WHAT compels me the most, honestly? like already in canon, all he's ever been referred to is madara's brother.. the brother who gave his eyes..... and also, around the time he lives, everyone surrounding him is already POWERFUL as HELL. like it's clear they're gonna go down in the history books, and they already have so many titles- but even then, was izuna just regarded as oh, that's madara's little brother? it's such a weird paradox, bc i feel like he'd have a lot of feelings on self worth and not being regarded as his own person and his accomplishments paling in comparison to those around him and always being underestimated and never being allowed to speak for or represent himself, but there's so little content of him we don't know his feelings. feels bad man
tobirama: he's cool? ig? again, where i'm at, he hasn't really been.. regarded as a Person, yet, just as oo the powerful second hokage. he created a lot of jutsus. so it's hard for me to form an actual opinion. things i do know include: he created a lot of the forbidden jutsu of the leaf, he's serious compared to his idealistic older brother, and he holds a grudge against the uchiha (which makes sense i think? they were warring for so many years weren't they? he probably lost people to them too). maybe he also has some thoughts on being the younger brother, the second? perhaps he thinks it's illogical for hashirama to be thinking of creating a village, with the uchiha no less, after all those years of endless fighting? i don't know! but i hope to find out.
hashirama: this guy i REALLY know next to nothing about, least of all how i feel about him. i know he's like... Nice, or something, likes peace and stuff- but isn't he known as the god of shinobi? that's interesting. he's regarded as one of the most powerful ninja EVER, yet he doesn't seem to like fighting as much? he could probably do so much more damage than he did.... was he holding back? since madara supposedly lost and died, in their final battle, i'm guessing he's the one who had the statues at the valley of the end created? but what for? it's so far from the village. if they were warring so long, he must see the uchiha- or at least madara, as equal, to pose them like that. he founded the village, after all that fighting and slaughter. and he has grandchildren. wow. grandpa hokage. i guess i like him sorta

niche nart ramblings
there's not enough tobirama/mito content!!! thinking very hard about the awkward arranged marriage tobimito fic!!! I just think their dynamic would be soooo interesting, and super different from hashimito; tbh I just love the flavor of arranged marriage tropes where the couple goes from super awkward/distant/unfriendly -> coming to an understanding/getting to know each other/become friends -> falling in love for reals and I think tobimito is SOOOOO good for that kind of dynamic. u have tobi who is kind of a bitch and is not good at being a people person (vs hashirama who is pretty friendly and I imagine hashimito marriage was easier to ease into) vs mito who is quite powerful and skilled and confident in her own right but is operating within the expectations of being the "wife" and neither of them are really happy about it!!!!!! tbh I think both of them would rather have a partner that is their equal/can challenge them but navigating those boundaries,,, there's not enough tobimito fic!!!! I want to read a hundred iterations of this kind of dynamic!!!!! been spoiled on madatobi fic and now I'm suffering from fic deficiency!!!!! on that thought I'm still suffering from mdtb deficiency I have trawled through the tag so many times at this point who decided to curse me into only wanting to read founders era stuff !!!!??
