How many of you knew this song was about a female baseball fan? SATURDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO “Take Me Out to The Ballgame” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRq8AWn3oGE …Most everyone knows the chorus to this song, usually led by a loud organ after the 7th inning at baseball games everywhere. However, many people don’t know the verses, which are about an obssessive female baseball fan named Katie Casey. She’d rather go to ballgames than go out on dates with her boyfriend. When I play this song in assisted living homes it never fails to get folks roused up!
More Fun Facts:
1. The song was copyrighted in 1908 and first recorded on cylinder, making it an early example of a (pre-shellac/vinyl) “hit record.” It was also the era when sheet music was the dominant way people played music at home, and sales skyrocketed.
2. It was composed by Tin Pan Alley songwriters Jack Norworth and Albert von Tilzer (later known for “Shine on Harvest Moon”)—both of whom had never been to a baseball game up to that point.
3. My favorite sample is The Marx Brothers 1935 film, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, when the orchestra is tricked into playing it in the middle of Verdi’s Il Trovatore Overture.

Helluva Boss observations and easter eggs you may not have noticed!: Pilot
The pilot is both a great place and weird place to start, as it is our introduction to the cast and world, but also no longer considered canon. Many of the events and details we learn/see are later confirmed in the series itself, but there were quite a few changes.
I want to start off with some design changes!
With Millie, she used to have white roots visible, this actually kept up for a few of the early episodes. As we know now it seems imps have two noticeable instances of sexual dimorphism: females have black horns with thin white stripes and naturally black hair, and males have evenly sized black and white stripes on their horns and naturally black hair. We see many trans or otherly gender queer imps that dye their hair with visible roots. I assume Millie's design was changed when that was established to be a gender difference in imps.
Her heart tattoo is also much smaller, and switches sides (an animation error almost certainly) When the pilot first came out I actually thought she had a heart on both shoulders.
Some stuff with Stolas!
We see his hand outlined with a red glow at one point, presumably representing his magic. While in the series his magic is represented by blue. This is most likely due to the change of his character as he was originally planned to be a villain.
Not a design change, but I find it funny that Stolas' name in Blitzø's phone is "Creepy Mouth (aka one night stand bird dick)". Surprisingly all being spelled correctly.
Stolas' Grimore! I actually only noticed this on this last watch. It was a darker blue(purple? red? It changes in different scenes) and instead of the moon design it has a different insignia of his that we still see throughout the series in various places (notably on his bed) it also has no design on the back.
Little details!
I didn't realize before either that the woman who Moxxie is trying to shoot before Eddie gets in the way, is Eddie's mom. I'm sure this is something many others picked up on immediately though.
Speaking of which, the human news anchor shown at the end bares a striking resemblance to a character of Brandons: a news anchor named Flint Dicker.
A poster of "THE AMAZING IMP SIBLINGS" is on the wall of the conference room. Showing Blitzø, Barbie Wire, and another character labeled "Tilla". This was changed in the series to just being Blitzø and Barbie, Tilla's design being slightly altered and then used for their mom.
Hazbin easter eggs! Oh boy is there a lot of them.
In the commercial sequence we see in the room of one of the targets a framed drawing of Sir Pentious
In the background of when Blitzø is interviewing a previous client, there is a billboard for 666 News ft. A photo of Katie Killjoy, I especially love this one as Brandon ended up voicing her!
In Blitzø's office he had a vision board labeled "BOSS GOALS" with 5 drawings, in the center is Blitzø labeled "ME!" Top left we have Katie again, top right is a duck with a top hat and two $'s, this assumably referencing Lucifer, bottom left is Rosie, an arrow pointing to her hat labeled so eloquently "HAT" and lastly in the bottom right there is a more detailed drawing that looks to be Carmilla Carmine labeled "Moxxie drew not as good" this tracking later as in 1.05 "The Harvest Moon Festival" Moxxie talks about Carmine angelic weaponry, showing a great interest in her business.
Next is a dumpster in an alley with various graffiti. Notably, a face that looks to be Nifty, "ALWAYS CHASING RAINBOWS" and "HAPPY HOTEL". There is also a sinister face labeled "DEVIL". Im not sure if this is a specific refrence to anything though.
Lastly, one that I'm sure almost everyone noticed but feel the need to include, is we can see Loona watching Charlie's performance of "Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow"
Funny observations:
When the crew teleports into the church, we see maany people with some pretty detailed designs, I do not know if or what they may be referencing, but I have a strong suspicion it is something, my guess is that they are caricatures of some people who worked on the pilot. One person in specifically is wearing a jacket with a patch reading "WHEN YOU SEE IT" with a 👌
Signs! In the hospital we see a sign saying "WE SAVE LIVES" in faded text it reads between we and save "try to" and after lives another line is visible starting with "but" I cannot make out the rest.
Others show that they are in ward 13, the next room over labeled as 667, implying the room that Eddie was in is 666
A note is taped to the side of the fridge of the break room reading "LOONA DONT EAT MY LUNCH -MOXXIE"
Another thing I only noticed recently is when Blitzø sneaks out at the Goetia palace, he is naked except for his jacket, with the grimore serving as some creative censorship. (+Stella's beta design. I personally love her current design, but this one wasn't bad)
When Blitzø makes the comment about making Moxxie the employee of the month he holds up a small plaque as an example, a larger version of this same plaque, is visible on a wall in the commercial sequence.
While in their hazmat suits(idk if that's what these actually are), you can see the shape of Moxxie's bowtie under it
... and just Blitzø holding some targets panties, cause why not
There are a handful of other details, but I'm going to hold onto those as later on we see call backs to them. Also, I've spent a lot more on this than Id planned already, I have at least 3 hours on this one alone.

neil young's harvest moon
Some days, Steph can’t seem to get Sam out of the radio.
Everyone pretty much agrees that if Sam is a ghost out there somewhere, he’s never in the cemetery. He might have had a good time for the first day or two after his burial, looking at all the names and dates on other people’s headstones, but it wouldn’t have held him for very long. No, if Sam is a ghost, then he lives on the radio, visiting the people he loves in grocery stores, chain restaurants, dental offices, and cars.
He mostly comes to Steph in cars.
Today’s been a busy day for driving. Katie’s out of town for an away game with her team, and Steph’s the only parent around for drop-offs and pick-ups. She dropped Jenny off at a friend’s house all the way over in East Dearborn, and now, she has to pick Judy up from a sleepover way out in Belleville. Steph’s car has more miles on it than she ever thought possible.
But it’s OK. There was nothing she wanted more than to be a mother, and she got the two best, sweetest, most wonderful girls in the universe. And even if she has to drive them everywhere for the rest of her life, it’ll be OK. Sam knows he could have been there. That he should have been there. He can’t take the wheel, so he takes control of the airwaves.
Like yesterday evening, when Steph was dropping Judy off at her sleepover, two different stations were playing “Private Eyes” by Hall & Oates. Steph laughed and laughed, sang and sang. When Judy said she didn’t get the big idea, Steph turned the volume up and shouted a story.
YOUR DAD USED TO HAVE A DANCE TO THIS SONG! she said. HE USED A FLASHLIGHT AND EVERYTHING.
On the way home from dropping Judy off, Steph flipped to a random station, and they were playing “Baby, I Need Your Loving.” She laughed, thinking about what Sam used to say about that song: It’s what moms in the rich neighborhoods are comfortable singing at Tiger Stadium, and that’s it. He always had good lines. Slick as can be. Better and smarter than Steph ever was, but he liked her, anyway. Loved her.
And the second she starts to doubt it, she turns to another station, just at what she believes is her own whim.
I never thought it would happen / with me and the girl from Clapham …
Steph smacks the steering wheel and cracks up, right there, on the road. She manages to avoid swerving, but it would almost be worth it if she had. No one ever plays this song. If they play Squeeze at all, it’s always “Tempted.” But “Up the Junction?” What the hell is that, besides the song Sam played the first time he and Steph ever kissed?
She grins. They were so little. So nervous. He must be trying to tell her something on the radio, but she’s not sure what it is until she turns the dial one more time.
Come a little bit closer / hear what I have to say …
It almost makes Steph roll her eyes. It’s just like Sam to communicate through the most comically obvious lyrics, and it’s just like Sam to choose Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” in the fall. She will believe he lives on the radio until someone can prove otherwise, beyond the shadow of a doubt. Even then, she’ll probably just assume the shadow is Sam. If anyone’s a spirit, it’s him. The man with more spirit than anyone Steph has ever known.
She knows what he’s trying to say. When she listens, she can always hear him. He knows she’s upset – about a lot of things, not the least of which is that Sam doesn’t get the chance to see their girls live and flourish – but she’ll be OK.
On this harvest moon.

Monsters and Mana 2 - Save The World, Get The Girl - Chapter 7
Character: Keith Kogane, Pidge Gunderson/Katie Holt, Lance McClain, Hunk Garrett, Shirogane Takashi, Coran, Princess Allura, Matt Holt
Pairings: Keith/Pidge
Warnings!: This is going to be one looooonnnggg fic! I think? So far I'm barely into the plot and I have four chapters, so let's see how far we go! I'll add warnings as they come up!
Summary: Keith and Shiro clash.
‘How did that go?’ Keith asked as the bubble shrank and excluded Coran with a soft “bloop!”.
‘A good MM never reveals his secrets.’ Coran straightened his jacket in a way that suggested he was actually composing himself.
‘MM?’
‘Monster Master.’ Coran swept back his hair. ‘So, you had all geared up before leaving King Z’opetes castle. Prince Keith and Lance are now disguised in commoner clothing to make transport through the region easier. You have your supplies, horses, and are about to set out. Is there anything you want to do before you leave?’
‘Gotta go to the bathroom before any trip. It’s just common sense.’ Hunk suggested and they all looked at him, apart from Pidge, who was bobbing her head to music they couldn’t hear while poking away at her floating screen.
‘Let’s assume you’ve all taken care of calls of nature for the entirety of the game. I won’t be penalising you if you forget.’ Coran organised his dice before him. ‘You set off on your journey late at night…’
The moon was high in the sky as the group left the castle, following Allura’s lead as to which path they took. At first they simply rode through the deserted streets of the castle town before leaving the walls proper. They passed the agricultural region, large fields full of crops that would soon be harvested to see the town through winter. Ephbe was considered a main stay in the economy as a agricultural country, not only for local produce but for trade and export. But at this time of night, long before the farmers would rise to go about their duties, the large expanse of fields were simply a reminder of how far from true civilisation they were. It felt for some time that although the speed of their horses was great, their progress felt like little, an illusion from their current location.
‘How long have you been betrothed to the princess?’ Shiro called over to Prince Keith, whose stoic demeanour had not altered since they left.
‘Almost a month.’
‘Not long then.’ Hunk joined the conversation.
‘Their engagement is a political one.’ Allura said without looking away from the road ahead. ‘It will bring peace to their two nations, allowing an unbreakable alliance.’
‘Not only political.’ Lance interrupted, disliking people talking about his master when he was right there, as though they knew better.
‘It’s alright.’ Keith glanced at him to let him know he wasn’t offended. ‘Pidge and I, our engagement is for the alliance, however we have known one another since we were children. Neither of us is opposed to this.’
‘OooooOOooOOOoO.’ Lance wiggled his eyebrows, but Keith simply turned to Coran.
‘Can I kick him off his horse?’
‘What?! No! That was out of character!’
‘Well, you didn’t say that.’ Coran pointed out. ‘Next time, be more careful and tell us it’s out of character first or Prince Keith will be allowed to roll to kick you off your mount.
‘Jeez.’ Lance slouched back in his seat. ‘Can’t even make a joke.’
‘Your jokes aren’t funny.’ Keith replied.
‘It’s nice that you both agree.’ Allura got them back on track. ‘Far too many political marriages are forced and fail.’
‘I think we’ll be fine.’ Keith’s lips twitched in a small smile. He could think of far worse things than marrying Pidge.
‘What will happen to the alliance if this mission fails?’ Shiro asked and an uncomfortable silence fell over the group, until Lance finally spoke.
‘That’s harsh.’
‘I’m a thief with few morals.’ (Shiro read that off his character sheet, hoping his insult would be enough for someone to kill him so he could re-roll a new character). ‘Insulting an overeducated royal isn’t exactly a hard task.’
Keith fought to keep the smile off his face, suspecting that their master thief was more used to travelling with others who would just as soon stab you in the back than work efficiently. ‘No offence taken. I knew that working together as a group was bound to be trying, we vary in background far too much, but if King Matt has brought us together it is because he believes it is for the best, and I will accept his judgement unless it proves misguided.’
‘What does Matt have over you to make you bow to his wishes so easily when you’re a royal yourself?’
‘My respect. And that is not easily earned.’ He finally turned, giving a serious look at Shiro. ‘Matt and I were, you could say, overeducated together, for some of our childhood. Our mothers were close friends. He got me out of more trouble than I care to mention in present company, and it was at his gracious suggestion that Pidge and I are to be wed. I owe him a lot but he asks nothing in return.’
‘Except sending you into the dangers of the wastelands, from which you may never return.’
‘Matt loves his sister, he would not risk her by sending fools on an errand that they cannot win.’ Keith could feel his hackles raise at Shiro’s insistence there was more to this situation.
‘But what might he gain if, perhaps, she were not kidnapped at all, and sent five fools on his errand who the kingdom would not miss?’
Keith turned his horse rapidly into Shiro’s path and drew his sword. ‘Insinuate one more thing about any of the royal Ephbian family and we will be one less fool!’
‘Prince Keith! Shiro! Away your weapons!’ Allura rode back, forcing Keith to move away before glaring at Shiro until the poison tipped throwing dagger in his hand resheathed itself somewhere about his person. ‘I will personally guarantee this mission is all above board. Since you began arguing, the princess has been on the move far from here. She is definitely not still in Ephbe as you suggest, and King Matt is genuine in his concern for her and the alliance!’
‘And, not wanting to offend anyone, but it’s been on my mind,’ Hunk asked hesitantly, ‘why should we trust you?’
Allura looked between them, figuring as they were travelling companions it was in their best interests to know the truth. ‘Because I am one of the Oshela.’
The silence that fell over the group meant that they all knew what that meant, the only question was who did it concern?
The Oshela were a legendary nomadic tribe who travelled around the realm depending on their duty. Upon either their coming of age, or their obligation to their charge becoming dire, they would separate from their tribe and rush to their aid. In Allura’s case, Princess Pidge was under her guardianship, as spoken by the gods of her tribe. Her sworn duty was to keep Pidge safe, no matter the circumstances.
‘So, who do you watch over? King Matt?’ Hunk continued.
‘Princess Pidge.’ Allura spun her horse and spurred it into a trot, encouraging the others to follow after her if they wanted answers.
Prince Keith shot a final unfriendly look towards Shiro for all his accusations before spinning his horse and catching up with Allura easily. Lance followed, but not before indicating to Shiro that he was watching him, with Hunk shrugging and following on. Shiro shook his head. This wasn’t your average adventuring group yet they had all been brought together. Something just wasn’t right.

How many of you knew this song was about a female baseball fan? SATURDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO “Take Me Out to The Ballgame” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRq8AWn3oGE …Most everyone knows the chorus to this song, usually led by a loud organ after the 7th inning at baseball games everywhere. However, many people don’t know the verses, which are about an obssessive female baseball fan named Katie Casey. She’d rather go to ballgames than go out on dates with her boyfriend. When I play this song in assisted living homes it never fails to get folks roused up!
More Fun Facts:
1. The song was copyrighted in 1908 and first recorded on cylinder, making it an early example of a (pre-shellac/vinyl) “hit record.” It was also the era when sheet music was the dominant way people played music at home, and sales skyrocketed.
2. It was composed by Tin Pan Alley songwriters Jack Norworth and Albert von Tilzer (later known for “Shine on Harvest Moon”)—both of whom had never been to a baseball game up to that point.
3. My favorite sample is The Marx Brothers 1935 film, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, when the orchestra is tricked into playing it in the middle of Verdi’s Il Trovatore Overture.
