New Memories - Andy Barclay x Reader

Warnings: Some phone call teasing, the rest it's just fluff. This is a sweet birthday fic.

Summary: Andy is far away from you, worrying because your usual behavior arround his birthday changed with the distance. From fearing the worst to finding himself amazed, he would discover nothing could possibly stop you from cheering him up in the most dreaded day of the year.

The day had been full of trouble and, once again, he got to spend another birthday having to see Chucky. The hunt was a win and he was feeling good about that, but on the occasions his mind would go back to it he sensed something was missing. More concerned than saddened by that, he wondered why you haven’t given any signs of life throughout the day. Ever since he started seeing you, things weren’t precisely quiet between you on the dreaded special occasion. Sometimes he wished it would, because you were making a fuss every year. Aware of how hard birthdays were for him, as his partner you have self assumed the task of cheering each one in hopes of helping him build new memories.

Happy memories, the kind he could treasure and revisit whenever the horrible ones would hit. With Chucky reappearing and you so far away from him, all he had to relieve himself were those reminders of your devoted love for him. You did text him in the morning, but he was waiting for something else at a moment he needed it more yet it never seemed to arrive. The whole process leading to the slaughtering of the doll required all his focus, an important mission distracting enough to keep him away from his phone for most of the time. However, with the night falling and the immediate danger disappearing he got to think about that again.

More than disappointment, what your silence caused was an activation of his paranoia. There was only one doll left, most likely far away from you, but maybe he didn’t know everything. There always could be others, maybe one taking advantage of his absence to pay you a visit. Your dead body could be already waiting for him as a birthday present, just like in the old times. Kyle tried to calm him down by showing the rational side of it, but there was nothing more than plain irrationality in everything they had gone through. Maybe you were busy at work, maybe you were planning something special … or maybe you were gutted on your living room’s floor.

It became too much for him and he was about to call you, but when he picked his phone he found an unseen notification from you showing a smiling picture of you.

“Miss you, handsome. Call you in a sec, get ready” The message underneath read. “ Did you think I would forget the birthday fun?”

He sighed in relief, then began to wonder what you were up to.

“ Beautiful as always, I miss you too.” He texted back. “ More than you can imagine.”

Your reply arrived a few minutes afterwards, another picture quite different from the last one. You were dressed as if you would be going on a date with him, some romantic dinner to celebrate and there was a description added in the message.

“ Bringing the party to you. “

Andy couldn’t help smiling, almost in disbelief with the sweetness of the gesture. He rushed to return it, suddenly reminding he had a perfectly matching visual he knew you would love.

The tie was off, but he was still wearing a suit, so he took a picture and send it to you along with his answer.

“ Dressed for the occasion.”

The call entered almost immediately. His sister chuckled since she noticed as well that the fastness had to be related with the effect the picture caused.

He got you so In love and you were so blissfully obvious, worshipping the fuck out of him at any given chance. Getting used to it had been quite an adjust to him, but your love made him feel on top of the world.

" You have totally outshined my gift, babe! " You sweetly complained to him. " Holy fuck, look at you. The open buttons of the shirt do it for me … is that the fucker's blood over it? "

He chuckled, proud of himself for your reaction.

" We got one, i emptied my gun on him and that has been all my celebration so far. Not the best birthday ever, but i had worse. "

" Can't argue with a man covered in blood. Whatever you say, handsome. " You teased him. " This is unnaceptable, you are giving me the better gift when i'm supposed to be celebrating you. Neck exposed, shirt splattered of blood … Are you trying to kill me? What can i give in return? A full nude? "

" Fuck, don't even mention it. My sister is ríght here. " He explained you ríght away." Not that I won't love it, but it's not a good moment. "

It made you chuckle, but that didn't mean you weren't backing down from making things up for him.

" What can i do for you to match this, birthday boy?" You purred sweetly. " Anything you wish for ríght now? "

He didn't hesitate a second before replying.

" … Just to hear your voice. "

The tender adoration in that statement disarmed any defenses you could have left. He had turned you into putty with his sweetness.

If what he wanted was to hear some of it, you were going to give him everything.

" I love you, Andy … like i have never loved anyone else before. You are the one for me, you know? No matter the shit that bastard tells you, we are meant to be. I can feel it, every single day i fall a bit more in love with you. Some nights I lay awake wondering how is it possible to love this much. I'm obsessed with you, in the harmless meaning of the word. I wouldn't lock you in my basement, but i'm perfectly aware you are the man i wanna spend the rest of my life with. Who cares if the doll comes in the package? I will get a dog house for him to stay outside everytime he's gonna try come to kill us. "

His laugh was hidding some of the very real flusterred reaction.

" You are insane, no person in their ríght mind would risk so much just for me. "

" Even if he would kill me, i still win. " You insisted. " I've meet the love of my life, got to spend good times with him. It's a good life, many people don't get the privilege before they are gone forever … Besides, I would have the comfort of knowing you would go berseker and destroy him in the cruelest way. If he freezes me, you will bath in his blood or eat his liver or some other fucked up inhumane sounding punishment and i will be rightfully avenged. Why would i want to ever leave the man that would hunt down my hipotetical killer to the end of the world? A man so tragically devoted who had me as his whole fucking world, who loves me like i'm the last person on Earth. Who gets love like yours nowadays, Andy?

" Wooow, woow. Where did that come from?" He wondered out loud, amazed. " It's not like i'm a romance hero or something. "

" I have two friends that have gone through ugly divorces and a third who is tired of trying on dating apps where most guys don't show any interest for long term relationships … I hitted jackpot with you, Andy. Call me crazy, but love like yours doesn't exist anymore. "

" To be fair, you changed every measure for what i thought love was supposed to be. " He sweetly admitted in return. " How do you expect me not to loose my freaking mind for you? The fuck is this? How are we having this conversation? "

There was a very simple answer for that. You couldn't be with him physically, but you wanted to shape a meaningfull memory at any cost.

" Happy birthday, love " You told him once more. " We can't have dates or gifts this year, but i can still give you my heart ríght here and now, just talking on the phone."

His stoicism fell in pieces, beated by the intensity of your affection.

It’s @losersclubisms birthday (or it was at the time of writing) so here’s a short Junior Wheeler fic and a Picrew recreation of him! I’ve heard about this thing called a Golden Birthday; it’s where the age you are matches your birthday, like turning 8 on the 8th of your birth month for example, so an extra big congrats is in order for your Golden Birthday, I hope it was the best day ever :). I’ll put the fic first then the Picrew will be under it, I hope you like it, it’s set in the ‘Final Family’ AU where the Chucky survivors are all hanging out together as a big happy family, because the survivors deserve happiness, and it explores Junior’s relationships with the other survivors, because I thought that would be fun.

When Junior helped to vanquish Chucky, he wasn’t expecting anything positive to happen for him afterwards. Both of his parents and his uncle were dead, leaving no other potential guardians except for the foster system, and he didn’t want to do that. So, when Andy Barclay (with heavy coaxing from his sister Kyle who, at one point, physically pushed the man in front of Junior so he couldn’t back out) offered to let him stay in his cabin with his cousin and the other Chucky survivors, he couldn’t believe his luck. Of course, he said yes.

The other survivors were certainly… interesting. Of course, Junior knew all of them, he knew his cousin Jake, his sort-of-ex-friend Devon and his friend Lexy very well, but Andy Barclay, Kyle Simpson, Nica Pierce and the Ray-Tilly twins were still a total mystery to him.

Andy Barclay was initially slightly cold and distant, which made sense considering his childhood trauma, but the more Junior got to know him, the more the man warmed up to him. In just under a year, Andy went from half-heartedly referring to Junior as ‘kid’ without making an effort to really talk to him, to frequently cracking jokes with him and willingly being his running partner. The big emotional breakthrough took a lot of effort on both Andy and Junior’s parts.

One day, on the anniversary of his mother’s passing, Junior just broke down, and Andy just happened to be passing by. The man admitted that although his own mother was still alive, he couldn’t really just go and see her whenever he wanted, and he missed her terribly. It was a fragile connection that they shared, but Junior had a theory that Andy recognised him as a traumatised child, the same sort of traumatised child that existed inside him.

Nica Pierce was, simply put, a badass. When Junior first met her, he’d expected a broken woman, because surely anybody would be broken after what she’d been through with Chucky. But instead, when he tentatively apologised for any stress caused by Chucky, Nica laughed and said:

“Kid, you didn’t do anything to me, you’ve got no need to apologise, besides, he’s dead so there’s no need to just cower in fear anymore.”

With these words, Nica struck up a fast friendship with Junior, who admired her courage and inner strength, as well as her incredible ability to dominate Mario Kart. She and Junior would often spend hours hate watching the Chucky movie with Jenifer Tilly in it, angrily yelling corrections to inaccuracies at the screen and just generally roasting the killer doll that had ruined their lives, deciding that it was their own special way of taking back the power Chucky had stolen from them.

The Ray-Tilly twins were a pleasant surprise, Junior found. They were both so vastly different, and yet, exactly the same as their father. Glenda was mean, and they sometimes would tease the other Chucky survivors, even the adults weren’t safe from mocking or scrutiny. But they were fun, and they loved making TikToks (a hobby that Junior had quickly discovered to be one of his favourites whilst staying in the cabin) and many times a week, the teen would be confronted by an excited Glenda who’d say something like:

“C’mon, there’s this new TikTok audio, we gotta dance to it, grab Lexy, Devon or your cousin and let’s do this!”

However, Glenda had a slightly explosive temper. One time, for example, Junior had made the mistake of innocently pointing out a similarity that their friend shared with their father Charles Lee Ray, and he had almost immediately had to dodge a kitchen knife that was aiming right for his left eye. He wanted to point out that this act made Glenda even more like Chucky, but he also wanted to keep both of his eyes, so he refrained.

Glen was nice, a bit too nice sometimes, in Junior’s opinion. The teen would carefully nurse injured birds back to health, and they’d preach about the values of a vegan diet. One time, Junior questioned Glen’s relation to Chucky because the two were so incredibly different, and they cried. But when they were in a good mood, they were a lot of fun to hang out with. Glen was great at Uno, and despite always insisting on playing as the dog, they were fun to play Monopoly with. Junior didn’t expect to make friends with Glen, or Glenda for that matter, but despite who both of their parents were, the twins were incredibly friendly, so Junior decided to bury the hatchet (both metaphorical and literal, he had a knife on standby just in case he was betrayed by anyone around him) and befriend them.

Jake, Devon and Lexy had taken a while to forgive him and be his friends again. For a few months, the three of them just didn’t believe that Junior was sincere when he tried to make amends. Lexy accepted his apologies first, because she still believed there was good in him, whilst Jake decided that because they were family, he had to be his friend, although the cousins’ ‘friendship’ was slightly strained. The same could be said for Junior’s relationship with Devon, who didn’t really trust him yet at the same time was comfortable enough to let him hold his drink if he had to rush off somewhere then come back in about ten minutes. It was slow and difficult, but Junior was making progress.

Junior didn’t know Kyle all that well because she didn’t live in the cabin with the rest of them. But whenever she visited, it became apparent that she was the ‘mom friend’ of the group, and every time she left Junior felt a longing for his own mother, because only she had comforted him and been kind to him in the same way that Kyle would every time she visited. Nobody else would admit it, but Junior noticed that most times when Kyle went back home, Andy would call his mom, so that counted for something.

Life in a cabin with seven other Chucky survivors (discounting Caroline who mostly kept to herself or spent time with her sister) was strange and unusual, Junior never knew when he was talking to someone if he was going to get an invitation to play Nintendo Sports or if he was going to get a knife in the thigh, but after the terror inflicted by Chucky, he was happy to have a group of friends - no, a family - that would always be by his side and support him, no matter what.

hey so because you seem to be really into it at the moment: I've never seen any of the chunky/child's play movies what's the lore

okay so the sparknotes version of the child's play lore:

this is still gonna be pretty long, sorry

child's play (1988): serial killer charles lee ray aka the "lakeshore strangler" (played by brad dourif) is shot and killed by police detective mike norris (played by the inimitable chris sarandon) but before he dies he transfers his soul into a good guy doll. btw good guy dolls in the story are similar to my buddy dolls or cabbage patch kids in the 80s and they move a little bit and have some pre-recorded phrases they can say, they're super popular in-universe, it's kind of a commentary on consumerism and how companies market to children to "create future consumers" etc. so, the doll makes its way to the home of andy barclay on his 6th birthday. chucky's main goal is to get revenge on mike and his old partner eddie who drove off without him during the shootout, but he's happy to kill some other people along the way. he pushes andy's babysitter (his mother's best friend) out the window, leaving andy to be the main suspect in her murder, which the detective is brought in to investigate. ofc nobody believes the doll is actually alive and he's taken into children's psychiatric care. then his mother and the detective realize the doll really is alive and possessed by charles lee ray, who they found out was super into voodoo. meanwhile chucky realizes after getting shot by the detective that he can get hurt in his new body and he goes to the man who taught him about voodoo, who tried to kill him for being an abomination and abusing everything he was taught. chucky kills him but not before learning that he will be trapped in that body forever if he doesn't jump bodies again soon but he has to possess the body of the first person he revealed he was alive to, which was andy. so the mom and detective also go to the teacher and with his dying breath he says to aim for chucky's heart to kill him because it was almost human now. cue big showdown between chucky and the three protagonists. there's a couple false endings where he gets set on fire and decapitated but finally he gets shot in the heart and dies. unfortunately the protagonists (+ another cop who witnesses the killer doll) realize that nobody will ever believe what happened. which is where...........

child's play 2 (1990): ...........picks up. the police deny everything but andy's mother corroborates his story and is placed in under psychiatric care while he is placed in foster care. the company that makes good guy dolls is threatened by all the rumors about what happened, including the possibility that there was something defective about the doll or someone tampering with it, so they rebuild the doll to show that there was nothing wrong with it and they were not culpable for what happened. so that's how chucky comes back. not only does he want revenge, he still wants to get out of the doll body, and he can only possess andy. meanwhile, when andy goes to live with a new family, the wife is very caring and the husband is very suspicious and callous towards him. he meets kyle, a 17 year old girl who is also a foster kid. he also meets tommy, a good guy doll left by a former foster kid who stayed in his new room, and to prove that he is a well adjusted, normal kid no longer believing the chucky story, he pretends to play with it and keep it around. of course chucky destroys the doll and buries it in the backyard and replaces him and starts killing people again. andy is sent away again, leaving kyle to discover that chucky is real by herself. they end up being lead to the good guy doll factory for the final showdown, which is really quite a fun ending sequence. again there are a couple false endings but eventually kyle kills him by exploding him with an air hose. andy and kyle leave together wondering where they can go next. something interesting to note is that there is also a novelization of this movie that adds some backstory to charles lee ray, which has been completely overwritten by the canon established in the tv series. also the film features actress grace zabriskie (who you may know from twin peaks) as a character named grace poole (a name borrowed from jane eyre by charlotte brontë) which is a fun little easter egg to me. apparently there was also controversy around this film since it was known to be a favorite of the man who committed the port arthur massacre although there is no connection between the content of this film and the crime

child's play 3 (1991): there's an eight year time skip (if that doesn't make sense to you based on the release dates, you would be correct - production of this movie began before they even finished filming the last one). the company that makes good guy dolls decide it's been long enough since the murders happened to start making those dolls again. unfortunately chucky's remains were still in the factory, and they contaminate the first doll that was made, bringing him back to life. again, he wants revenge and a new body so he immediately tracks down andy. meanwhile, andy is now 16, played by a different actor obviously, and he's enrolled in military school after bouncing around different foster homes for a few years. so chucky sends himself in the mail to andy, only to get intercepted by a younger kid, tyler. since chucky technically is in a new body, he realizes he can tell tyler his secret (that he is charles lee ray - this is a deviation from the first movie, where the secret was that he, as the doll, was actually alive, but this new meaning of what the secret is is used for the rest of the series) and possess him instead, which is what he tries to do. murders occur, andy tries to stop them, nobody believes him, etc. there's a very underdeveloped love interest story arc also. the most memorable part of the film is when the school has a paintball "war" and chucky replaces the fake ammo with real bullets. eventually andy, tyler, and the girlfriend face off with chucky in the haunted house of a carnival that happened to be nearby (yeah, it's contrived lol) and chucky gets pushed into an industrial fan, which destroys him. so, this movie is widely regarded as one of the weakest in the series and i agree, it's pretty boring. the writer don mancini has said that there was pressure from the studio to rush production and he was basically out of ideas so soon after making child's play 2 and i think that is very clear. however i would say that this is the movie that paves the way for the humor and personality that is the foundation of the future chucky movies. there was also a lot of controversy around this movie in connection with the murder of james bulger, a toddler who was kidnapped, tortured, and killed by two 10 year old boys (the youngest convicted murderers in modern british history) although there is no real link or even confirmation that either boy watched the film. also, another notable horror actor andrew robinson who played the dad in hellraiser was featured in this film

bride of chucky (1998): released the same year in which child's play 3 was set, this movie takes place a few months after the events of the previous film. after this film, the series drops the "child's play" name and uses the naming convention "x of chucky" for the remainder of the films. bride revitalized the series, taking it in a more overtly humorous direction. it's also the first film in which andy is not the protagonist and establishes a LOT of the pre-doll possession charles lee ray lore - so let's get into it. enter tiffany valentine (a role made iconic by jennifer tilly), charles lee ray's girlfriend before he died. she finally tracks him down after 10 years, stitches him back together, and brings him back to life with voodoo magic. she tells him that she found the ring he left on the mantel and knew he was going to propose to her before he died, and he laughs at her, telling her that he got it off one of his victims and was gonna pawn it. obviously she's pissed so she locks him in a cage with a talking bride doll similar to a good guy doll. he breaks out, kills tiffany, and traps her soul in the bride doll so that she's stuck with him. unfortunately this is a stupid fucking idea because neither of them want to be trapped as dolls forever but to switch bodies they have to get an amulet called the heart of damballa, which chucky was wearing the night of his death, out of his grave in hackensack, new jersey (but wait! you might be thinking, i thought he could only possess the body of the first person he told his secret to! which is why he kept going after andy in the first place! yeah forget all that, there's an amulet now. idk. btw damballa is the god that gives chucky his power via voodoo magic, it wasn't really relevant until now so i didn't tell you but this is consistent in all of the movies and the tv series). so tiffany gets her neighbor jesse to drive the dolls to hackensack. the reason that jesse agrees to do this is because he and his girlfriend jade are being kept apart by her asshole cop uncle who is her legal guardian and keeps threatening to ruin both of their lives if they keep seeing each other, so they want to leave town together and need money to start a new life. this works out great for chucky and tiffany because they'll each have a body to possess once they get the amulet. so jesse and jade go on this weird roadtrip, then everybody around them starts dying and they're the main suspects in their murders. both of them start to be suspicious that the other one is guilty. meanwhile chucky and tiffany are killing people and falling back in love with each other. eventually they reveal that they are alive to jesse and jade, who, while being held hostage, turn them against each other. they make it to the cemetery in hackensack, but at that point tiffany is so pissed at chucky and feels sympathetic to jesse and jade's love story, so she tries to kill him instead (saying, "we belong dead," a line from the movie bride of frankenstein (1935) which she was watching right before her death). chucky kills her and then is killed by jade. the very last scare is tiffany giving birth to a little evil doll baby. which sets the scene for.........

seed of chucky (2004): for the record i think this movie sucks. it's easily my least favorite in the series. i didn't even get through the whole thing the first time i tried to watch it. however, it also has some of the best lore of the series, which is pretty fun, and it has some queer themes that are interesting to see. so obviously chucky and tiffany have an orphaned freaky little doll monster baby. they end up being kidnapped (?) by a cheating ventriloquist who keeps them in a cage and calls them "shitface" and makes them perform in their ventriloquist act. at the same time, the chucky and tiffany dolls are being used in a movie based on the "urban legend" of the killer dolls. shitface realizes they must be their parents because they share the same "made in japan" mark on their wrist as the chucky doll which they see on a promo on tv, so they to hollywood to find them. when they get there, they accidentally bring their parents back to life by reading the words on the heart of damballa, their only family heirloom. chucky and tiffany try to settle on what name to give them and debate their gender; chucky wants him to be "glen" and tiffany wants her to be "glenda." unable to come to an agreement, they focus on the real problem which is how they can get different bodies. they decide they'll possess actress jennifer tilly and the director of an upcoming film who she's trying to "impress" to get the lead role. however, tiffany swears off killing and tries to forbid chucky from killing, too, for the sake of their family. obviously both of them immediately kill a bunch of people. glen/da kills a couple people accidentally but under a high amount of stress reveals that glen and glenda are actually separate identities, glen being sweet and innocent, glenda being a killer. anyway they impregnate jennifer tilly, who through voodoo magic gives birth to twins. however, chucky abandons the plan, deciding he's going to embrace his identity as a killer doll. he and tiffany fight and she flees with glen/da. she finds jennifer tilly at the hospital and possesses her. chucky makes a reappearance and attacks them, but glen kills him by dismemberment/decapitation. they possess the twin babies, a boy and a girl, one for each of their personalities. in the epilogue, tiffany lives as jennifer tilly, raising glen and glenda by herself. she kills the nanny when she complains that glenda is unstable and violent. so yeah! this one gets really meta. john waters gets his face melted off with acid. etc. a fun fact about this one is that the movie promoted that paris hilton was NOT in the film - this is because she's briefly featured as a character in the film played by a lookalike, and her press team didn't want people to think it was actually her

curse of chucky (2013): a soft reboot of the series that returns to a more straightforward horror approach. introduces the character nica pierce (played by fiona dourif, brad dourif's daughter), a young woman who is paraplegic and lives in a big, old house with her mother, who she has a somewhat tense relationship with. someone sends her mother a good guy doll (without the scars and stitching chucky had in bride and seed), which she dismisses as a joke or a mistaken address, but of course she winds up dead. nica's sister, her husband, her daughter alice, alice's nanny, and a priest she has invited (to nica's chagrin) come to stay with nica. the sister tries to convince her to sell the house and tells her that she's not capable of living alone. family tensions rise to the surface; namely, that the sister is having an affair with the nanny and the husband suspects, so he puts a camera in the good guy doll. they also watch some home videos together and notice a creepy guy hanging around their mother in the footage, who nica later recognizes as charles lee ray. anyway people start dropping dead in this big old dark house and nobody can find alice, who is playing hide and seek with her new best friend chucky. before she is killed, the sister peels off the paint covering the scars that reveal that it's the same doll from the other murders. nica figures out that the doll is possessed by charles lee ray but of course nobody believes her. after killing her whole family besides alice, he tells her that before he died, he had been infatuated with her mother, kidnapping her while she was pregnant with nica after killing nica's father. she somehow called the cops on him and, enraged by her rejection of him, he stabbed her in the stomach, causing nica to be born paralyzed from the waist down. nica and chucky fight, and she injures him, but he gets away when she's found by a cop who comes to the house. she is found guilty of the murders in court and sent to a psychiatric institution. in the end, tiffany gets chucky from the police evidence and sends him to alice, who he plans to possess. in a post-credits scene, chucky is mailed to an adult andy barclay, who shoot him as soon as he cuts his way out of the box.

cult of chucky (2017): last movie!! nica has been held in a high security psychiatric institution and now is being transferred to a medium security institution after "making progress" by accepting that chucky was a product of her psychosis after she killed her family. her therapist brings in a good guy doll as part of her treatment, and it is adopted by one of the other patients who thinks it's her dead baby. the next day, nica has a visitor. expecting to finally get to see alice again, she's disappointed that it's actually tiffany valentine, who says that she was alice's legal guardian, but alice had died - we later learn that chucky possessed her, but she died when one of his victims fought back and his soul jumped back into the doll. tiffany gives the doll to nica in remembrance of alice. nica eventually recognizes her and realizes that chucky really is possessed. she tries to slit her wrists with a spoke from the wheel of her wheelchair but he stitches her back up and slits the wrists of another patient, starting off the killings. knowing that no one will believe her, nica tries to stop chucky herself without drawing suspicion back on her. meanwhile, in the outside world, andy has been having trouble adjusting to normal life. he's been keeping the decapitated head of the original chucky doll and torturing it (as he deserves to, tbqh). he hears about the murders and realizes that chucky has found a way to split his soul into multiple bodies. so he goes to the hospital to try to stop him. at the hospital, there are now 2 chuckys running around, soon joined by a third doll that arrives in the mail. not only does chucky possess the new doll, but he also possesses nica, supernaturally giving him the ability to walk even though she is paraplegic. so andy gets himself committed to the hospital by attacking a guard, and he's locked in a room by himself. the newest chucky doll attacks him, but andy reveals that it was him who sent the doll, hiding a gun in its stomach. then nica!chucky comes after him and he tries to shoot her, but he runs out of ammo and she locks him back up. she reunites with tiffany and they drive away together with the tiffany doll who is also possessed. in a post-credits scene, kyle shows up at andy's house to keep torturing the original chucky doll.

child's play (2019): a reimagining of the original movie that does not tie in to the rest of the series

chucky (2021 -): i'm not gonna do a full synopsis of this one because there's just too much plot but i will give you a rundown of 1) the relevant lore you need to know to watch the tv series, 2) the pre-doll possession charles lee ray lore that's established by the series, and 3) other lore that is established in the series and relevant plot points

what you need to know:

there are multiple good guy dolls possessed by chucky out there, which andy and kyle are on a mission to track down and destroy

chucky is still possessing nica and tiffany is still possessing jennifer tilly, they're on a murder spree but their relationship is as tumultuous as ever, and sometimes nica regains fleeting consciousness/control of her body

the twins glen and glenda are in their 20s now (they're both nonbinary and use they/them pronouns btw) and they don't remember anything about their doll self, which tiffany-as-jennifer has been hiding from them, and they don't know anything about their absent deadbeat dad

apparently chucky is still using good guy dolls to possess because he can only split his soul into identical forms ? which doesn't make sense lore-wise but that's what don mancini has said lol

charles lee ray grew up in hackensack, new jersey which is why his body was buried there in bride and that's where the tv series takes place (in season 1)

the first 3 child's play movies are canon but the series always goes defers to what's established in bride of chucky when it comes to any differences in plot (as well as overall tone/humor)

pre-doll possession charles lee ray lore:

charles lee ray grew up in the suburbs with his parents in the 1960s. it's a pretty normal childhood until a serial killer breaks into his house and kills his father. when his mother tries to get him to hide in the closet, he kills her, "helping" the serial killer. that's his first kill. after that, he starts seeing a therapist, who encourages his violent behavior. eventually, he goes to live in an orphanage. he's a leader to the younger boys, introducing them to the story of peter pan. one day, they're playing in the woods and he leads them to "captain hook," the body of the janitor who he killed and replaced his hand with a hook. the other boys run away crying except for eddie caputo, who later becomes charles' partner in crime (the guy he vows revenge against in the first movie after his betrayal). after this, he goes on the run. years later, he meets tiffany valentine at a nightclub. they kill a woman together. he tells her she should be blonde and she tells him he should go by chucky, which brings us to the versions of the characters as we know them throughout the series. tiffany and chucky move in together in chicago, but after the honeymoon phase is over, chucky starts killing people by himself, annoyed by her "nagging" that she misses when they used to kill people together. angry, she calls the cops on him, leading to the police chase that is the opening scene of the first movie.

so, the premise of the tv show:

14 year old jake wheeler is a misunderstood kid living in hackensack. he buys a good guy doll at a yard sale for an art project that he's working on. obviously it's chucky and he starts killing people, but he also attempts to befriend jake and coerce him into killing people, too. of course things start spiraling out of control from there.

more lore:

chucky keeps trying to get a kid to commit murder because he needs to get an innocent to kill for this voodoo spell where he can put his soul into a bunch of dolls

season 2 takes place in a catholic school and a bunch of the legacy characters return (andy, kyle, nica, glen, and glenda) to perform an exorcism along with the main characters jake, lexy, and devon and the headmaster of the school (played by devon sawa). because of the exorcism, chucky is infected by catholic magic and can no longer call upon damballa to give him his power, and he becomes trapped again in the doll body which starts becoming more and more human and aging rapidly. this becomes a big part of the plot in season 3, which primarily takes place in the white house, as he tries to sacrifice as many people as possible to appease damballa, but it doesn't work. at this point in the story he is slowly dying of old age

at some point there's a cult of chucky dolls in the woods near the catholic school who kidnap and torture andy ?

at the end of season 2, glen is fatally injured. tiffany transfers their and glenda's soul into the original glen/da doll, now called g.g.

tiffany-as-jennifer is put on trial for all the murders and at this point in the story is in prison on death row

so devon sawa is in every season of this show despite being killed (at LEAST once) every season. in season 1, he plays jake's father and uncle who are twin brothers, in season 2 he plays the headmaster of the catholic school, and in season 3 he plays the president of the united states

there was also a documentary that was released in 2021 before the tv series came out called living with chucky where they interviewed the filmmakers and a lot of the actors who are featured throughout the series. i thought it was pretty good, it's on tubi

anyway i think it's really interesting to see a series last so long and make so many pivots to keep exploring the story and the characters in new ways. at the end of the day the first two movies will always be my favorite but bride of chucky is also so fun and so iconic and a perfect response to changes in the genre and brought a lot of new humor and energy to a series that had pretty much fizzled out, and it has been really fun to watch the tv series in real time as it comes out. the next episode actually comes out tomorrow night!! so let's see what happens. anyway i hope i didn't make you regret asking me this and thank you for giving me an outlet for my crazy about this silly little movie series

Horror Characters Preference - How they celebrate Christmas with you

Happy Holydays! This is a little gift i wrote for you all :)

I wished I could have added more characters and some escenarios ended up a bit short, but this is the best i got in the few writing time i had in between holyday preparations.

- It made him feel a bit fuzzy inside. His place would not be a prison or an Isolation spot anymore. You wanted to stay with him and turn it into a home, your home.

- Christmas is Bree's favorite holiday and she is your favorite of your boyfriend's parents, so you are there to celebrate.

- You also want to support Junior because you know Logan has a way of always ruining his mood somehow. He would never let him be happy, not at least in his own way.

- Even if she is too little to remember, he wants to make it special for her and you help with whatever you can. Sacavange for things, arts and crafts, whatever necessary to get some nice decorations and presents.

- Your determination on the topic ends up convincing Rick of accepting the idea. As soon as he heard your reasons, even Daryl was up to participate. He has a soft spot for the little girl and Carl is doing so much for her.

- When the time comes, all the people you consider family are there. It's your first truly felt Christmas since the end of the world.

Steve Harrington

- He doesn't get much comfort and family at home, but since he has you and his little friends he found a family where he belongs and that manifests on his attitude around the holidays.

- His gifts are super thoughtful. Everyone knows he is gonna surprise and that makes you nervous. You fear he would give you the most perfect gift and yours for him wouldn't be as good enough in comparison.

- Meanwhile, Steve stresses more about what to get for Dustin, considering how far he is from his peculiar likes and interests, than what he planned for you.

- For Christmas Eve he gets invited to dinner by the Hendersons and that means you also got invited. Dustin loves you both and wants you to be there with him and his mom.

- When you arrive the boy is watching ' Silent Night, Deathly Night'.

- " No horror movies tonight." You commented to him. " It's our first Christmas together. We have to make it nice. "

" But it counts as a Christmas movie!" He playfully complained. " It's an open film subgenre."

- Steve laughed and messed with his hair, loving to hear him being himself and you trying to make things the normal way.

Eddie Munson

-I get the feeling that his celebrations are the closest to how It's used to celebrate where i live.

- Loudest Christmas ever, it's 6 pm of Christmas Eve and Eddie is already blasting music. He is a happy and unapologetical dude and that's how cheer hits him.

- You are neighbors, so you are constantly crossing over trailers to see how each other is going as you await for the night. You have to get reminded to get back whenever someone needs any of you for something on your preparations.

- Eddie and Wayne end up joining you. Your family is on good terms with them and getting all together is better than having to stand how you and Eddie leave out of sudden to see each other.

- At some point of the night, once you have enough time to dedicate to your families, you follow him into the next step of your celebrations.

- Surprisingly crashing late at Dustin's and pumping up the party.

- Steve mocked you for showing up late, he and Eddie have a secret war going on over who amazes Dustin the most.

Strangeness and Charm - Part Three

Summary: Season 1 AU where Andy and Kyle arrive at Charles Lee Ray’s old house before Tiffany leaves with Junior and Nica and ultimately save them. Set in 2017, two weeks after Cult since that's when the show was originally mentioned to be set and in my opinion, makes the most sense.

The first thing Nica was aware of was a feeling of comfort. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt that, it must have been what? Four years? Closer to five, actually.

But, oh God what does that mean? She let out a soft whimper as she tried to remember what happened before she passed out. She just hoped that this was her waking up and not her regaining control.

That's when fear struck her, after the first time she regained control she knew there was nothing she was safe from. She slowly began to open her eyes against the sun rays on her face, dreading the sight of the blonde psychopath she expected to be greeted with.

"Andy, Kyle! It looks like Nica is waking up."

Andy? Kyle? And that voice definitely wasn't Tiffany's but Nica couldn't bring herself to get her hopes up.

She fully opened her eyes, squinting against the light and began to push herself up to sit. That's when she met eyes with the 6 people in front of her, four teens, two she could remember from before, the others she didn't recognise. And then two adults, a blonde woman, but not Tiffany. Definitely not her and a man, close to her age. Possibly a few years older and something about him seemed familiar, she couldn't quite place what.

Wait.

Andy, Andy Barclay?

She supposed it could be possible but she knew the dangers of getting her hopes up. The last time she did that she was faced with Tiffany telling her that Alice was gone before gleefully dumping her killer in her lap.

"Where am I?" Nica asked, doing her best to keep her voice steady. She couldn't afford to show weakness, not when she was already at a disadvantage.

"Uh, Hackensack. We brought-" Junior started, taking a step forward before stopping when he saw Nica flinch. "I'm sorry, I should have thought about that."

Nica remained tense, eyes darting from one person to the next. Andy was becoming more alert now and slowly moved closer to the sofa bed.

"Look, we're not going to hurt you, you're safe. Okay, Nica?"

She made no attempt to move again but kept her eyes fixed on the man in front of her. She was doing her best to read his emotions, to find some form of malicious intent that she had grown so used to seeing in people but she couldn't find it.

"How do you know who I am?"

"It's kind of a long story but I'm Andy-"

"Andy Barclay?"

"Yeah..."

At this point Kyle put her guard up, Andy had said they needed to be cautious, that Chucky could trick them and she already had to get her brother out of a padded cell because of this one.

"You hear that from Chucky?" She asked sternly, if it was Nica she didn't want to scare her but she just couldn't risk it.

"Wha- No. I did some research the night he killed my family. I had been suspicious about where the doll came from and came across an article from '88. But, you know what he did don't you?"

"You mean possessing you in an asylum?" Jake responded.

"Yeah, that."

"Look, I'm sorry about this," the blonde woman. Kyle? Began, " but how do we know this isn't Chucky talking now?"

"Believe me, if it was Chucky he'd be up and moving by now. The most I can do is drag myself around." Nica responded bitterly, that was one of the facts she resented the most. That he could walk in her body when she had always been considered as less by people because he took that from her.

"How did I get here?"

"Oh um, Andy found both of us in Tiffany's car and him and Kyle got us out before she came back." Junior started, he made sure to stay where he was and kept his hands in plain sight. He had never wanted to hurt Nica in that house but he knew Nica really had no way of knowing that, the last thing he wanted to do was scare her again. "Look, what happened at the house. I, I didn’t, wasn't going to hurt you. I just didn't know what to do or what they would do."

Nica looked at the boy, she could see the same nervousness in his face as she did in that house. She was still hesitant but she knew she couldn't hold what happened against, Junior? As far as she knew, he could have ended up just like Alice if it hadn't been for Andy and Kyle.

"It, it's okay," Nica began, "believe me I know how manipulative Chucky can be."

"We've got pizza if you're hungry, it's pretty cold now but-" Jake then cut Lexy off, "Or we have other food in the kitchen."

"The pizza will be fine." Nica responded quickly, she couldn't remember the last time she ate and she imagined Chucky isn't one to take care of himself, especially in her body.

"Here, take your pick." Devon passed her a pizza box containing all of the leftover slices.

"Thank you." Without further discussion Nica took the first piece she saw, without even acknowledging the toppings. She couldn't remember the last time she had a meal that wasn't God awful hospital food, let alone pizza.

"I'm guessing you still have a lot of questions."

Nica, looked up at Andy and slowly nodded. She finished off the slice of pizza before responding.

"Uh, yeah. Honestly, I'm not really sure where to start."

"How about we tell you what we know and then you do the same for us?" Kyle suggested as she entered the room again with a glass of water, "I thought you might be thirsty."

"Thanks." Nica responded, reaching for the glass with a small smile.

The others proceeded to explain everything they knew about the current situation as Nica finished off the pizza, grateful to have anything close to a decent meal.

"Well that explains why Chucky wanted me to kill, I knew there had to be something in it for that bastard."

"Chucky tried to make you kill? When?"

"Just before he possessed me at Harrogate, one of the doctors."

"Foley?" Andy asked hesitantly. The mention of that man's name made Nica shudder before turning to Andy.

"How'd you know that?"

"It's kind of a long story but I had spoken to him a few times."

"Why?"

"To, um, to try and visit you or prove you innocent I guess."

Andy's eyes kept flickering down to the floor, too shy to watch Nica's reaction to what he just told her. He made the mistake of taking a quick glance at the others only to be met with Junior with a much bigger smirk on his face than before, almost identical to the one Kyle was pulling next to him. The same one she pulls when she thinks she knows better, or when he says he's not a bad driver. Which he isn't.

Meanwhile, Nica wasn't sure what to do. She was still trying to comprehend what Andy said, and why would he do that? Genuine kindness had been such a rare thing for her since Chucky, it felt alien to her. She wanted to ask more about it, but she could see Andy nervously looking at the floor and decided it was best to ask them with less of an audience.

"Sorry," Kyle began, "but going back to the subject of possession, I guess we should ask how often you've been in control."

"Um, about two or three times I think. I think there have been some moments where I'm slightly aware of what was going on but I didn't have control."

"Well, when were the times you were in control?"

Nica hid her face in her hands for a second, trying desperately to fight the headache that began whenever she tried to think about past moments she was in control over Chucky.

"The first time I remember was November 8th so that was, what's the date today?"

"November 13th" Jake pitched in.

"Right. 5 days ago, okay. Then it happened again, I think a day or two later? Then again when you two were there." Nica gestured over to Junior and Devon before directing her next question to the latter. "Actually, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you get to that house?"

"Oh, I had gone to investigate." Devon responded quickly, anxious to go into further detail after seeing the confusion Nica had faced since being possessed. Although, the attempt was in vain. Nica could tell something was wrong and then it hit her.

"Oh God!" She began, "I was the one that hurt you, wasn't I? I'm so sorry, are you okay n-"

Devon immediately cut off her apologetic rambling, "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine now. Honestly, it's alright. I know it was Chucky, it's not your fault."

Nica, looked over at the boy and gave him a smile and a small nod of thanks.

“So, do you have any idea what makes you change?” Lexy questioned.

“Um,”

“Tiffany slapped her when we were there,” Junior cut in, “that’s what made her switch back to herself. Don’t know how much that helps though.”

“Actually, it might. When I woke up the first time there was a guy that was tied up, I tried to free him but he ended up hitting me, which makes sense I guess but that’s the last thing I remember from that.”

“What about the other time? Is there anything else that could have an effect?” Kyle pitched in, leaning closer.

“Uh, Tiffany hit me in the back of the head with something, that’s the last thing I remember from the second time. As for other things, blood maybe? That always seems to be near Chucky and Tiffany, I’m not sure if that affects anything though.”

“We could always test it!” With that Junior got up and made a move for the kitchen, Andy jumped up in response. “Woah, Kid what are you doing?!”

“Getting a knife.” Junior then clocked the concerned expressions of the others in the room. “Not like that. Just a small one, you know? To make a little cut and see if the blood works. No big deal.”

“Hang on,” Nica responded, looking around the room. “Someone tie my legs first, that will at least stop Chucky a little, if this does work.”

Kyle swiftly picked up the rope on the ground that had bound Nica’s hands previously before moving towards Nica, who moved the blanket to one side. Kyle made quick work of tying Nica’s ankles together, double and triple knotting the rope just to be sure. That was when Junior returned to the room with a small vegetable knife, the sight of it caused the nerves to begin to sink in for Nica and she turned to her right to see Andy giving her a small reassuring smile.

“You ready?” Kyle asked, taking the knife from Junior and putting her own gun on the table next to her as Andy held his own, suddenly avoiding all eye contact with Nica. Nica took a deep breath, “Yeah.”

Kyle made a small cut on the palm of her hand before turning it to Nica, her gun now in the other hand. It only took a second of looking at the blood before the dreaded sinking feeling washed over her again and she let out a small whimper of fear before falling back.

The others kept their eyes fixed on her form, a gun in each of the adults’ hands. That was when Chucky let out a groan, pushing himself up and clicking his neck.

“Kids, stand back.” Andy warned them, they didn’t need to be told twice, Devon had already begun to move back, grabbing Jake's hand to make sure he followed. Next to them, Lexy and Junior did the same.

Chucky opened his eyes, legs struggling against the binds and looked around before he landed on Andy pointing the gun at Nica’s body. Chucky let out a smug chuckle before speaking, “Well, this is familiar. Ain’t it, Andy?” All of them remained silent, Andy seemingly frozen in place, refusing to take his eyes off of Chucky. “What? Ya not gonna shoot this time? No, of course ya won’t, not now you know she’s still in here.”

“Shut it, fucker.”

“Wouldn’t want to shoot a pretty girl, r- agh!” Chucky was cut off as Kyle fist collided with Nica’s face, causing Chucky to fall back once again. Nica let out a gasp as she regained control before slowly sitting up again. “I’m guessing it worked.” she said weakly as she raised a hand up to her jaw.

“Uh huh,” Lexy responded, slightly bewildered. “At least we know how to get you back now.” Nica smiled at that, it was nice feeling as if she had some form of control again, and it seemed the others were reassured by that as well. Well, all except Andy, who seemed to be avoiding looking at her at all costs.

Kyle decided to take over before things got awkward, “Right, so now that theory has been proven right, What’s the plan?”
