So I've watched hannibal twice (gonna watch it again I'm obsessed) but I've never really understood why bedelia kissed hannibal in season 3 or why hannibal seemed to genuinely love her (obviously differently to how he loved Will). Like all I could think when it was leading up to the kiss was "He must be faking because they are Dr fell and Lydia fell" but I guess that goes to void when hannibal and bedilia kissed without there being people around. How would you explain their relationship?

Regarding that specific scene...Girl they were fucking haha! It was hinted at heavily during that European time, but then Bryan Fuller confirmed it. So they were doing a lot more than kissing.

Bedelia was obsessed and attracted to H. Not as passionately as Will, but in her own way. And as for H, I honestly think he just goes along with any person he finds attractive/beautiful and has some form of likeness towards. Alana came unto him, Bedelia came unto him. He's just like "alright 🤷🏻‍♀️" as a man would lol, pretty realistic actually, maybe the only realistic thing about him lol.

In a deeper aspect I believe H doesn't quite understand why someone would stay with him without a reason. Hence why he keeps putting people in crazy situations to foster codependency. Individuals who have abandonment issues tend to create situations to make others attached to them, as they believe this is the only way they won't leave. That's why he isolates and alienates his victims/"birds". So I believe he didn't understand Bedelia as well as she understood him, so perhaps he thought giving her a romantic element would somehow keep her there longer.
