obviously the breakup is very sad for fans, but the worst is the amount of people i see out here flattening HER WORK to be solely about him. she has been fighting too hard for her entire career to make people see her art as legitimate and real, regardless of who she is or isn’t dating for swifties to do this to her.
yes, he was her muse and occasional cowriter, but their relationship doesn’t solely define what her music means to her or to each listener. in the reputation prologue, she said this explicitly!!

I experienced a bit of polyglot joy yesterday and wanted to share. I've been on a Pokémon kick lately and writing some fanfic for myself, and in the process of researching some finer details yesterday, I realized how much the world opens up to you if you have even a basic grasp of several different languages.
First, I learned about the mistranslation of Kyogre's name into English by looking at the Japanese and Korean and realizing that ogre really should have been orca. Of course that makes way more sense, and I'm actually kind of mad about whoever translated it as ogre all those years ago when Ruby and Sapphire first came to the English-speaking world!
After that, I was looking for a detailed map to help me grasp the finer geography of Sootopolis City, and the best-quality map I found was in German. Much to my delight, I know/remember enough German that I was able to use this map without issue, and I continued to use it for reference until I finished the project I was working on.
Basically, I'm feeling incredibly encouraged today. Even just learning a little bit at a time can really pay off in fun ways! Keep learning, my friends! The world gets so much bigger when you do!

the annual pro-life march yesterday has me thinking once again about how one of the biggest mistakes modern day feminism has made is framing a large portion of abortion conversations around whether or not a fetus counts as a baby. cause, for starters, this just isn't something that everyone is ever going to agree. or even necessarily something that a majority of people are gonna agree on.
but beyond that, and far more importantly, it entirely disregards the discussion that has to be had around abortion. which is that whether they are a baby or not, nothing and nobody has the right to another person's body without their permission. this is about the inherent right to bodily autonomy no matter who else is involved. your rights end where someone else's body begins.
it's why no one can be forced to donate blood. it's why even after death someone has to have chosen to be a donor before any of their organs can be harvested. it's why human testing without informed consent is a war crime. our bodies are our own. it doesn't matter who else can benefit from them. and that doesn't just stop being true when it's the womb that is being discussed.

can I just say thank u to pierce brown for battle speeches that are inclusive of women? i didn't know it mattered to me until now... but reading books 1-3 of the red rising series has made me realize that there was room for inclusion- room for me and people like me- in war and in freedom and in life, even if it's a fictional one. just reading lines like "rise, men of mars. women of mars, rise!" and "protect your brothers, protect your sisters" just makes me so unreasonably emotional because i... i haven't read or even seen anything like this before.
