Jack adjusted the sleeves of his white shirt, still unsure about whether he should pull them up or down. He couldn’t help but feeling nervous now that he was preparing himself to walk inside. Being back in the old development camp brought back a lot of memories. Some happy, some weirdly random, some sad.
“Is it the Gretzky to my Messier I see?"
The sound of her voice made him perk up instantly and he could've sworn he'd heard angels sing when he looked up and saw her face.
"Y/N, hi!" he stuttered, walking up to her immediately and pecking her cheek, giving her a warm hug.
"You look great, Mr. Waynederful! See you inside!” she smiled, rubbing his arm up and down quickly before giving him a pat on the shoulder and being on her way, saying hi to everyone she encountered as she neared the entrance.
Y/N Y/L/N looked even more beautiful than she did eight years before, if that was even possible. Her once long hair had a darker tone to it, the hot pink of her teenage rebellious phase long washed away, and it was now resting right by her chest. She had ditched her Doc Martens and her band t-shirts, but she was still Y/N. Good old Y/N. The same girl he had a huge crush on for years. The one that got away.
"You really need to get it over with, buddy." the man heard someone say from behind him, making him turn around to find one of his best friends shaking his head in disapproval. "It's been what, ten years?"
"Come on, man... I just broke up with my girlfriend." Jack rolled his eyes, putting his hands in his pockets.
Trevor’s eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and a giddy smile crept up on his lips.
"Caufield!" he yelled out to the smaller man approaching them, looking through his bag. "Pay up, doofus!" the blond man demanded, making their friend groan loudly.
"Did you bet on how much time my relationship would last? Again?" Jack huffed, annoyed at his friends’ lack of sensibility.
"Sorry, dude... I just really love making money at your expense. Plus, Cole is going to have to wear a clown nose the whole day because of this." Trevor shrugged in response. "Look, as I see it, this is your chance. From what I've heard, she's pretty much single. You're single. When was the last time you two were single at the same time? That's right, never. This is how it's going to go down: you finally get it over with this weekend and we all live happily ever after. I promise it won't hurt." he added, giving him a thumbs up.
Jack looked at him baffled, incredulous at his honesty and how forward he was about this particular subject. He had always been particularly invested in helping set the two up, but the brunette man was too shy to act on his feelings and Y/N... Was Y/N. Beautiful. Talented. Incredibly oblivious.
"You're really annoying, did you know that?" he conceded, sighing and wrapping an arm around Cole’s shoulders, ruffling his hair. "Hey, you."
"Don't mind him, Hughesy. You know how he is." Cole chuckled.
"I heard that, Caufield! You guys go ahead, I need to check if I locked the car!" they heard him say as he walked away. “Go get her, Rowdy!”
The brunette man chuckled nervously, trying to ignore the butterflies in his stomach.
God, Jack... Get it together, man. he thought to himself, trying to shake away the feeling that he was inevitably going to make a fool of himself. The two friends walked onto the stage, heavily decorated for the chats they were supposed to have with the prospects.
When Y/N spotted them, the wonderful smile that decorated her face grew wider.
"Come here!" the buff man beside Y/N urged, motioning for the pair to move faster. "The boss wants me to take a picture to post online. He says it's good publicity for the school. Jack Hughes and his line lady Y/N Y/L/N, former campers, now living it up and changing the world in their own way. Whatever gets the kids to strive to be called up for the program and the fans to come and watch them play!”
“Do you mind?" Y/N asked kindly, her big brown eyes looking up at her old practice linemate, completely mesmerizing him. "Jack?"
He was snapped back to reality by her voice, a coy smile forming on his lips as he managed to stammer a quick of course without sounding too desperate.
“You should make it look disgustingly sweet.” the older man suggested. “Imagine how many new fans we’ll get on your account!"
"Yeah, sure. I think I know what you mean." he conceded, as his former Coach reached for his phone.“Caufield, my own personal favorite, would you be a champ and take it for me?”
“Yeah, it would turn out terrible if you took it anyway.” their friend shrugged, earning himself a slap in the back of the head. “Ow!”
Jack chose to ignore the way his heart beat faster as he stood behind his high school dream girl, resting his chin on her shoulder and snaking his arms around her waist, resting his hands on her stomach. Her smell was inebriating and sweet. The very description of Y/N Y/L/N.
“Okay, are you ready?" Cole inquired, looking at them through the phone screen.
The smaller woman nodded and he stood still, his trademark smirk making an appearance, as often requested.
"I think everyone's going to go crazy over these." the photographer commented, handing the device to Y/N, who started looking through the pictures that were taken. “Hold it for me, would you? I need to check with your dad if we’re good to go.”
The woman beside him hummed in response, her eyes not leaving the screen.
"We're definitely getting these kids' attention." Y/N announced cheerfully as she raised her fist for him to bump.
She showed him the photographs and he had to admit it: she was right. They looked so happy and... couple-y. Her finger accidentally swiped right once more, a picture of a little girl showing up on the screen.
"Is that..."
"Yeah... Joey. My pride and joy. I sent this to dad the other day. He’s a sucker for her." his old friend gushed. “I think if I close my eyes and open them again this little girl will be a teenager already."
Jack gave her a loving look before letting his mouth work faster than his brain.
"She's beautiful. Takes after her mom."
"Where you this charming back in the day?" she blushed slightly, swatting at his arm playfully. "I only remember you being scared of talking to girls, even though they would all try to talk to you."
As he was about to reply, he heard his name being called.
"Dude, it's Jack Hughes!" a teenage boy nearly screeched, pulling his phone out of his back pocket.
The brunette man sighed, his shoulders slumping before he regained composure and sent her an apologetic look.
"Go ahead, superstar. We have plenty of time to catch up." Y/N smiled, seeming to be reading his mind.
The man nodded reluctantly, heading over to the young admirer and posing for pictures.

Y/N picked up her bottle of water from the chair she had been previously sitting in, distracted by thoughts of him. It was so weird to be with Jack Hughes again. To actually see his face in person, to hear him speak and act all flustered around women. The endless hours playing in the good old rink flooded her thoughts for the first time in years.
"Is it just me or does the fucker get more attractive by the year?" Cole inquired, startling her.
"Who?" she croaked out, almost dropping her father’s phone.
"What do you mean who? Jack, who else? Have you seen the asshole?"
Cole was right, he aged like fine wine. Jack had always been beyond cute, but as years went by, he turned into an extremely handsome man.
"Oh yeah... He does look good." She mustered, slightly embarrassed by her own thoughts.
"Good is an understatement. But you already know that, don’t you, Coach Jr.? Anyway, duty calls… Again. See you in a bit. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do." her friend teased her, grabbing her father’s phone and leaving her alone with her thoughts.
Y/N found herself mindlessly wandering around, the recent renovations throwing her off as she looked for a bathroom.
The president took pride in his most successful prospects and had organized an event around their particular group, the ones he considered to have put the development program in the map at some point, in hopes it would bring good publicity to the institution and, hopefully, grow more champions. There would be Q&A’s, photo ops and a dinner party. It was going to be a long weekend.
“So, back with the boyfriend... What is it like?" Trevor jumped in front of her as soon as she stepped out of the bathroom, a few minutes after.
"Jesus Christ! You scared the shit out of me!" Y/N shrieked, placing both hands over her heart.
"Sorry... So, as I was saying, excited to be back with your boy?"
"Jack?"
"The one and only." the blond man chirped, batting his eyelashes.
"It's really good to see him."
"You know, he could really use your support right now..." Trevor started, locking arms with her while leading her back to the auditorium.
"Why, what happened?" she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"He just broke up with his girlfriend..." her friend told her, feigning sadness over the news.
"That's awful." Y/N commented, frowning slightly.
"Yeah... Look, he could really use a friendly face. Show him some love if you can." Trevor suggested in response, holding her by the shoulders.
"Okay?"
"Thanks, sweetheart, you're a peach!" he crowed, opening the door for her. "I'm going to hide before Coach sees me."
She eyed Jack a few feet away, stuck taking pictures with some of the kids that had gathered up around him in the meantime, sending him a sympathetic look. He winked at her and excused himself, meeting her in the middle.
Y/N grabbed his hand, dragging him to the stage before any of the people behind him could even process they were in the presence of the Y/N Y/L/N, whose face had been featured in team pictures for years. For some, she was merely known as Saint Y/N for being able to reign in the rowdy boys in her class back in the day and, reportedly bringing Team USA luck, for others she was just the Coach’s prodigal daughter.
“Alright, fellow Hughes enthusiasts! We’ll be back in ten for the Q&A, tell your friends!”

The entire auditorium cheered in glee as they walked out arm in arm. Jack led her to the couch Coach Y/L/N had demanded Trevor and Cole to help drag on stage, waiting for her to sit before he did the same, keeping a safe distance from her mesmerizing presence.
Y/N noticed the distance he had willingly put between them and leaned in, gently touching his toned arm.
“You know, you can come closer. Promise I won’t bite.” she whispered in his ear, sending chills through his entire body.
He reluctantly scooted closer to her, goosebumps covering his skin as she nodded in approval.
The first question came from the left side of the room. A young boy almost jumped up from his seat, eagerly grabbing the microphone that was handed to him by their old assistant coach.
“What was it like training together during camp days?”
“Oh, awful!” Y/N scoffed. “Can you imagine having to scrimmage with this guy every day?” she teased, pointing at him.
“Yeah, just horrible. Dreaded every single day of it.” he followed, hearing the students laugh at their playful bickering.
“It was great, we had so much fun together.” she concluded, resting her hand on his leg.
“Yeah.” the pro player agreed, hoping people didn’t notice the way his cheeks flushed when he felt her touch. “Y/N’s an amazing partner in crime, we were the dream team. I’m very thankful for the time we spent together.”
“Do you have any funny stories you could share with us?”
“The boys would taunt me all the time because of the Margot Robbie poster I kept in my room.”
Y/N broke into a fit of laughter, remembering the weird picture of a The Wolf of Wall Street era Margot Robbie that was taped to his door everyone in the team had made fun of him for.
“One time during morning skate, Jack and I had been going at it for like half an hour and no one would tell us to stop. We were almost throwing up from exhaustion so eventually we did decide to stop, completely weirded out, noticing there was no one around. As it turned out, Trevor had stolen his little sister’s guinea pig and brought him to camp, and it had disappeared, so everyone was out freaking out and looking for it. It was really embarrassing because we had to explain to everyone why it had taken us so long to realize there was guinea pig on the loose.” Y/N confessed, hiding behind Jack while trying to avoid everyone’s gaze.
The prospects broke into laughter, typing quickly on their phones, letting everyone on the internet know about the Jack Hughes story no one had ever heard of until now.
“If this is how they react to what we’re saying, imagine what will happen when Coach posts the picture.” the brunette man laughed as his partner regained composure.
“Hey Hughesy, ask the legend for a kiss for good luck next season!” someone shouted from the back of the room.
Jack’s eyes grew wide as he was left completely speechless. Of course he had thought about kissing her, but not in front of everyone, not a kiss based on old camp superstition.
Alina thought about her next move briefly, before softly grabbing his face and kissing his cheek. She knew he was one to blush, but she had no idea about the effect she truly had on him.
“There you go, guys. The Devils are in for a treat this year!”
Everyone in the room cheered for the pair, clapping and hooting before the next question was asked.
Cole and Trevor were watching from the sidelines. The Canadiens player was wearing a clown nose, as promised, and the taller man rubbed his hands together, overjoyed by the turn of events.
“Want to make another bet?” he suggested, wiggling his eyebrows.
“I’m pretty sure I’ll probably lose and I’m not willing to wear this thing ever again.” Cole sighed in response.
“Oh, come on!” Trevor whined when Y/N pecked Jack’s cheek.
“What’s wrong?” Alex inquired, squeezing himself in between them.
“They had the perfect opportunity to kiss and she went for the cheek!” he protested in response.
“Z’s very passionate about other people’s love lives.” Cole explained.
“They’d make a really good couple, I’ll give you that, Z.” their friend agreed, not taking his eyes off the pair on stage.
“Jack’s too shy to do anything about his ten-year-long crush and Y/N seems to have no idea he practically faints whenever she looks his way… We seriously need to intervene.”
“This is exactly like that Anne Hathaway movie where the main characters are friends for twenty years before finally shacking up together. They’ll come around to it.”
“Cole, Anne dies in the end. They could’ve had it all without having to wait twenty years for it.” Trevor reasoned, rolling his eyes.
“Don’t go all Hitch on them, you human zoomie.” his friend warned.
“Let me know if you need help setting them up.” Alex chuckled.

Meanwhile, Jack and Y/N took one last question before the Q&A session ended, giving them some time off before photo ops.
“Jack, any advice on how to get to your level?”
“I’m here off duty, man.” he joked. “Why don’t you ask the real pro? Y/N?”
“If you insist…” she chuckled, clearing her throat before going on one of her famous motivational speeches.
As Y/N spoke, Jack listened attentively, her angelic voice soothing his broken heart and it came to his attention that he would give anything to hear her talk all night long. Her lively eyes locked with his and she rested her head on his shoulder, his signature cologne invading her senses. He finally felt at home.
When they finally got backstage, the hockey player opened his mouth to speak, but he was quickly interrupted by her phone ringing. She excused herself, getting her phone out of her pocket and checking to see who it was.
“It’s my mom. Jo must want to talk to me.” Y/N said, sending him an apologetic look. “We’ll see each other soon for the photo ops, alright man of the hour?” she winked, before reaching up and hugging him, answering her phone and vanishing from his sight.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

I had a funny idea for a season 5 wwdits episode.
Basically it'd be a few days since Guillermo had been turned into a vampire and he'd be feeling super shitty. Like, turning into a vampire feels shitty but this is really bad. He hasn't been able to sleep basically since he was turned.
"Yeah I'd almost think that I didn't have the soil from my homeland but we're in the USA and I was definitely born in the USA so the dirt here should be fine......hang on I need to make a quick phone call."
"Hey Mama. Yeah good to hear from you too! Weird question. What hospital was I born in? Like...and this is totally random and probably a stupid question but like...it was...for sure in the US, right?"
And then there's a rapid conversation in spanish as Guillermo becomes more shocked and panicked looking. Finally he hangs up and looks towards the camera with a forced smile.
"So. Um. Apparently, late in my mom's pregnancy with me, she was visiting some family in Mexico and haha! I guess I was a little early? And she just...told the doctors in the US that I was a surprise 'at home' birth so that I'd be a native citizen here because you know, immigration is such a pain. But it's like, you know, so funny because that technically means my homeland isn't the usa, but actually Mexico? Which is why I haven't been able to sleep because I have USA dirt and I need dirt from Mexico. Which is...hundreds of miles from here...and I can't get on a plane because of the sun. And I'm way too tired to drive....This is bad. This is actually really bad."
And after some desperate online searches he'd be like
"So. I did a little research online and apparently there is a potting soil company that imports some of its soil from Mexico but only to some of its distribution plants and um...it doesn't...say which one or how to tell so I'm just going to the Home Depot and I guess...just going to lie on some bags of potting soil and see if I can sleep on any of them and hope that I don't get thrown out of this store."
Multiple shots of him lying on bags of potting soil while other customers awkwardly walk by.
"Hey. How's it going? I'm just...I'm checking the density. You know how you need like...super dense soil for some plants? So I'm just...yeah. Testing it out."
Finally he'd find a bag with some Mexican soil in it and cut to a shot of an employee sweeping the floor and walking up to Guillermo, lying on the floor with a bag of potting soil as a pillow.
"Uh...can I help you, sir?"
"It's...it's just been one of those weeks, you know?"
"Oh yeah. For sure. We've all been there. The Miracle Grow is actually softer if you want to switch...?"
"No. I'm good. Thank you."
"Yeah. No problem. Store's closing soon, though."
"Mhm. Yeah I'm getting up in just a second."
And the episode ends with a wide shot of Guillermo, dead asleep on the floor of the Home Depot, as the lights turn off.

Misunderstandings Part 1
Pairing: Yoongi x Reader (18+) Wordcount: around 1.5k
Genre: New to working together au. Cold playboy au. Future something au.
WARNING: This story contains some bad words/strong language! Contains also spicy scenes, so please be aware before reading it.
It has been a week since my team started working with Yoongi, the week had been filled with meetings about coordination between the teams, some of the meetings were one on one basically so I could get a sense of what he expected from me during this 5 weeks, it was fairly easy to agree on the way we could handle things, starting from the fact that I would have to be available 24/7 just in case I was needed! I had been going home around 8pm every day and always kept my phone on me with the ringer.
Yoongi was going to be in the studio all day tomorrow, which meant I didn't have to go into the office so I decided to relax tonight, took a long shower, moisturized and did my relaxing ritual, put on a grey tank top, no bra and some shorts, wrapped my long wavy dark hair in a towel and walked to the kitchen.
I make sure the bottle of Sauvignon blank that I bought on my way home was cold and put out two wine glasses, one for me and one for my girl best friend Josie, she is on her way over so we can gossip and watch reality shows. Josie has been my best friend since middle school, fun fact her fiancé is also my best friend. Even bigger fun fact, I had been on a date with Zion when we were in college but we quickly agreed that a friendship was the thing for us, I introduced them during one of Josie's visits on campus and now 4 years later they are just a few months away from getting married.
I hear her emergency key to my apartment in the lock and start preparing the popcorn.
"Zion is driving me crazy!!" she says with an exasperated tone while closing the front door.
I laugh at her facial expression, she is going for annoyed but it looks cute on her.
"Hello to you too... what did he do now?"
"He keeps changing our funny dance for the wedding!"
"you mean your first dance?" I say with a confused face while pouring the wine and handing her a glass.
she takes a big sip "Nono, 'Cant help falling in love' is still our song but he saw online that people like doing some funny dance trend after and You know I'm not good at dancing."
Josie comes from a rich conservative family, she is very classy and polished, never late and never a hair out of place, so I was surprised when she told me she was in love with Zion, his style very much the opposite of her but both with a heart of gold.
I laugh at the thought of Josie dancing some TikTok challenge.
"Oh josie...you are a great dancer, just not with the new stuff!" i try to comfort her and we walk to the couch.
We are under the fluffy blankets watching our third episode of love island UK season 10, we had finished the USA one a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly my phone starts ringing, the word OFFICE written in the screen, I look at the time "11:34 pm". Josie and I look at each other with confusion in our faces, she pauses the show and I shake my head trying to shake the 2 glasses of wine off my system and then proceed to answer the call.
"Hello (Y/N), this is the security from the building, sorry for calling you so late, Mr. Min is here at the office trying to access the studio but he had left his keys inside and the other copy isㅡ"
"is in my bag!" I say simultaneously facepalming my face. "I will be there in 15 minutes" luckily I don't live far away from it.
Hanging up I rush to the room, put a pair of skinny jeans on, my classic vans and put my hair on a messy ponytail. The taxi Josie had called for me was here already so I rushed out of the door telling her I would be back soon.
7 minutes later I was in front of my building, greeted the security and proceeded to the 19th floor, were the studio is. Yoongi is waiting right in front of the elevator doors when they open and I get surprised to see him in his very relaxed outfit. Hair covering his gorgeous forehead, his phone in one hand and the other one in his pocket, his eyes rise up to meet mine and I smile at him. We start walking to the elevator, he is behind me and I don't know if its his presence or the wine but I feel my cheeks heating up and warmth running through me. I open the door for him and try to hand the keys to him.
"do you want to come in for a while?" he asks with a blank expression.
"mmm sure." dammit, I am supposed to be just dropping the keys off.
I walk past him and he closes the door behind us. Its a normal studio, with little touches of him, a couple of basketball gadgets and some posters, a couch with some pretty purple cushions and a blanket, he had made it his own.
"would you like some more wine?" his question takes my attention out of looking around his studio.
"mmm sure. thank you. Waitㅡ 'more'?" my face expressing my confusion.
He has a small smile on his face while pouring me a glass "yeah, more! I noticed you have a slight scent of wine on you, so you must have been drinking some before coming here".
aww, he was smelling meㅡ Stop. waitㅡ oh my god did that mean I smell of alcohol?. oh God, that's not very professional.
"hey, its not a problem you know. I like wine, so you know... you smell good" his words snapping me out of my small mental freak out. "plus, you weren't even supposed to be coming here so don't worry about it." he hands me the glass of wine.
We've been seated on his couch and talking casually about the things we like and our passions for a couple of hours now, I feel really comfortable around him and he seems comfortable around me! He said something funny and I pushed his leg in a jokingly manner but when I tried to retrieve my hand he grabbed it pulling me closer to him, we stopped laughing suddenly and stared into each others eyes, he bit his bottom lip and shacked his head no subtly, like if he was shaking away a thought. His eyes started roaming my frame and My heartbeat accelerated once I noticed where his gaze had stopped.
My nipples were hard and he could see their outline through my tank top. Shit!!! I didn't put on bra. I should say goodnight and walk away but why aren't my legs moving?! I feel warmth spreading through my thighs.
"It's late!" He suddenly gets up and it startles me. "Maybe you should go home!"
"huh? maybe you should go home!" I say with defiance, -why cant i just shut up-.
"(Y/N)!" -my name sounds so good in his voice- "You are drunk and I'm afraid you will regret any decision we take after this point!"
He is making sense, he has a point, plus we are working together, we need to maintain a professional relationship so I get up and start walking past him and towards the door, I say goodbye and walk to the elevator. Pressing the button to call the elevator I realize that my keycard to leave the building is in my bag with my phone and my house keys -damm it- I walk back to the studio where Yoongi hadn't closed the door yet for some reason and when his eyes reached mine, I swear there was a little hope in them. I walked past him again and grabbed my bag then turned around to wave goodbye.
He stayed still for a while, like contemplating what to do, he raised his hand to wave back but he seemed hesitant. I started to walk to the door when suddenly he grabbed my wrist. I stopped breathing for a second and my heart started beating faster.
"Maybe you should stay!" he says softly. while pulling me towards him until my chest is flat against his. I can feel his breath on my face. A hint of whiskey on it.
"Maybe you should stay too!"
He smiles at my statement and that seemed to be all the permission he needed because his hand started to travel from my waist to my breast while the other one held my chin up while he watched me and the kisses me.
It was gentle at first and then became passionate, one of those kisses that take your breath away and make you dizzy. He kissed like I belonged to him, like no one had kissed me before and I was loving it.
His hand move to the front of my jeans and start undoing the buttons, his mouth now trailing my neck. my jeans come off and we move around, he leans my ass against his desk and starts trailing wet kisses from my neck down. He sucks my nipples through the tank top and starts rubbing my core.

While waiting for my taxi I realized that its 6am, that I had left Josie at home waiting for me and that I had royally fucked up by sleeping with the VIP, that he seemed to regret it to the point of not being able to look at me and that the meeting where I will have to see him in a few hours will be hard.

Desconectar (Alexia Putellas x Reader)
Part 2 as promised of Amiga en Linea, this picks up right where that one leaves off if you need a refresher read that first! Also this whole angst filled mess is for @grapefruit-personified who deserves it after having her boss babe attitude on point this weekend
“What are you doing here?” You immediately ask Alexia. When you had turned around and saw the person who has made your life a living hell made your stomach drop. You didn’t understand what was going on.
She takes a step closer to you, you immediately hold up your hand to get her to stop. She freezes, but looks up at you and says “I think we both know why I’m here”
“No” you respond immediately “This cant be real, this has to be the universe playing a cruel joke on me. Please tell me you were just out for a walk and noticed me sitting here.”
She shakes her head and responds “No Y/N, You asked me to meet you here, said you’d be in the red USA jersey”
You shake your head and choke back a sob, you take another step back as you say “This cant be happening”
“Hey hey, Y/N, don’t say that, Im the same person who you’ve been talking to online this while time” she says softly in a reassuring tone.
“No, you have been the one who’s made my life hell, you have made me feel like I don’t belong, you made the team become an environment where no one wanted to even talk to me. You are the reason I regret ever coming to Barcelona” you tell her as you can feel the tears start to fall down your cheeks.
“Y/N, please lets talk about this” Alexia says as she tries to step into you again.
You step back again and shake your head and say “No. I think if you know me as well as you think you do, you will know that I need to not be here right now. If you care about me anywhere near I care about you, then you will let me.”
As you see her standing there not moving or objecting, you turn and walk away slowly, then starting to jog. You cannot be anywhere near her right now. You know it’s not the most professional thing to do for your career, but you cant be here right now. Next thing you know you have stopped and packed a bag and are waiting for a flight home. You spoke to your coach who agreed to give you a week to head home and get your head on straight.
Landing back in London was like a breath of fresh air, you couldn’t wait to fall into your brothers arms, you knew a few days in his presence and seeing your niece would make you feel a lot better. The one thing you did once you landed was call Claudia, she has been the one teammate who you have grown close to and you didn’t want her to be left in the dark on Monday when you weren’t at practice.
She had known about you having your internet friend, but not about meeting them the night before. You made her promise she wouldn’t do anything but you told her what you were thinking. Alexia was playing you the whole time, there is no way she didn’t know and she clearly did not want you to be on the team.
Claudia was on your side, but she also didn’t believe that the Alexia she knew could do that to someone. She tried telling you this but you weren’t having it so she left it alone. She agreed to not tell anyone why you went home, but that she was there for you if you needed anything.

Spending the week at home was exactly what you needed to reset your mind. You knew that your niece would make everything better. It was still hard and awkward that she loved Alexia, but you pushed on. Your brother on the other hand would not let you off as easy as your niece. On your second night there, he had gone to put your niece to bed and you were sat outside by the fire with his wife.
He came back out handed you a beer settled in beside you and immediately asked “Y/N what’s going on?”
“Nothing, it's fine, I just needed a break” you tell him. You look up and immediately catch the look him and his wife exchange “Oh come on, I am fine”
“no Y/N you are not” he responds to you “Please we are here for you”
You can see the love in their eyes and it finally cracks the facade you have put up and you can feel the tears start to fall down your cheeks. They both move to you immediately and sit on either side of you and wrap you in their arms. You feel so loved surrounded by your family that you finally feel the sobs release from your chest.
“I didn’t think it would be this hard” you say to the night sky when you finally catch your breath from the sobbing. You can feel both of them rubbing their hands on your back and helps to calm you as you tell them the story. You keep it short and sweet, about how hard it has been at practice and with the team, and how you found solace in your online friend, and how Alexia has been playing you the whole time.
“Im not sure how I am supposed to go back there” is how you finish off the story.
Your brother starts with “Y/N, how can you be sure she knew you were the one she was talking to online?”
You shake your head and respond “Because she has been nothing but rude to me, she clearly just needed to feel better about herself. There’s no way she didn’t know”
“I think you need to talk with her before you can jump to any conclusions” Your brother chimes in.
You stand up and turn to them both and say “No, I came here to forget, please don't be rational with me” they both nod and you add “Im going to bed.” Lying in your bed that night you think back on your interactions, but you keep circling back to she had to know, cause there is no way she’s the same person you were falling for online.

When you finally return back to Barcelona, you are met at the airport by Claudia, who offered to pick you up. You are happy you don't have to go to training today, but you also feel better about being back here after the perceptive you gained from heading home.
You are immediately pulled into a hug from Claudia when you walk out of the airport, and she tightens her arms around you as she says “I’ve missed you Y/N, it hasn’t been the same without you”
Pulling back you smile at her and say “I’ve missed you to Claudia.”
Once your both in the car and on the ride home, when she tells you what’s been happening at trainings. “So, Alexia has been getting on my nerves all week”
“Claudia, I told you not to get involved” you tell her, as you turn slightly in the passenger seat so you are facing her.
She shakes her head but remans looking at the road as she tells you “She’s been acting different all week, its like she’s the victim in this situation. Or like some kicked her puppies. Its been frustrating because she knows exactly why you aren’t here”
“thank you for having my back” you tell her immediately and then continue “I’m sorry you are involved”
She pulls up outside your condo and asks “What are you going to do at training tomorrow?”
“Honestly, just act like nothing happened, and hope to get through the season then deal with it from there” you say with a small shrug.
She laughs and agrees and says “Im glad your back Y/N, I have your back just so you know”
You both say your goodbyes and you head in to your apartment, where you will spend the night alone. At multiple points you catch your self logging on to your online account to chat to your friend, but you remember you cant. You turn your phone off after the third time, and you decide to spend the night preparing to go back to training.

You walk into the training facility and it is very reminiscent to your first day, just like that first day you pause before you enter the dressing room. You take a deep breath and prepare for the interrogation when you walk into the change room. You walk in to most of the team there and it being a loud and friendly environment.
“Y/N! Welcome back” Mapi notices you first and gives you a high five.
Multiple other teammates join in and you start to settle a bit, you notice Alexia is not here yet, you take your time getting changed and after you are ready you notice most of the team has filtered out. You are leaned over lacing your shoes and hear the door open and close. Assuming its someone leaving you don’t bother to look up.
You notice someones shoes walk up to you and you hear “Y/N?”
You look up into the eyes of Alexia, and you notice as well that the locker room is empty, you try to get up and walk away from her when she places her hand on your arm to stop you. “Alexia please, I’m going to be late”
“Can we please talk?” she says to you with a hint of desperation in her voice.
You shake your head and look up at the ceiling when you tell her “No, please leave me alone. Haven’t you done enough to me?”
“Y/N, please let me explain, It’s not what you think” she pleads again.
Before you can respond the locker door swings open and Claudia pokes her head in and asks “Y/N? you good?” You immediately see her eyes darken when she notices Alexia there with you.
“Yeah Im ready, let’s go” you tell Claudia and you yank your arm out of Alexia’s grip to head to the training ground.
Once the door closes Claudia immediately asks “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, let's just get to practice” you say with a small smile.

It’s a few days later after many more awkward encounters with Alexia, that things start to turn. You haven’t been fully left alone with Alexia, since Claudia has taken to not leaving you alone with her at the training facilities.
You have been in the physio room with ice on your knee waiting for the timer to go off so you can head home from training. The physio had stepped out and you were left alone in your thoughts when Alexia walks into the room, you look over and see its her and you cant help but to groan and roll your eyes.
“Seriously Alexia, are you really going to force me to talk with you?” you ask with a bit of attitude.
She nods, and take another step closer to you as she says “Listen Y/N, you need to hear me out. I know hat you are thinkin-“
“No Alexia, you don’t know what I am thinking” you interrupt her “You have no idea what Im thinking because if you did you wouldn’t be trying to talk to me right now. You have made me look like a fool once, and I certainly won’t be falling for your tricks again.”
She stands there looking confused as she says “What? you left me standing there like an idiot Y/N?”
You shake your head as your timer goes off you grab the ice from your knee and hop off the table. You cant help but say one last thing as your leaving “You have been playing me the whole time, you used me to make your self feel better.” Then you head right out the door.

During the next game, you can see the chemistry off between you and Alexia, and you know it's hurting the team. You both are normally much more connected and on their games. You vow at half time to make things better at least for the sake of the team and winning the game.
After the team talk at half time when everyone else is heading out of the change room, you grab Alexia by the arm and say “Listen we need a truce during games, we’re not connecting and we need to be able to in order to win this game.”
She looks at you and down to the hand on her arm as she softly responds “Okay, I miss playing with you Y/N”
You shake your head and reminder her “when 90 minutes is over the true is off”
She smiles sadly and says “I know.”
The truce works and the team ends up fighting back and winning. You both connected well and created goals together, and even celebrated together. Once the game was over that feeling of betrayal came back in full force and the truce was immediately forgotten.

A week after your truce and you just don't have the energy to be angry anymore, you have started to try and go out more. You have taken to jogging in the city, but today you decide to run along the water. Lost in thought and the music blaring through your headphones you don't realise you have ended up at the bench where everything happened.
You pause at the bench and decide to take a seat to catch your breath. Sitting there staring out at the ocean lost in thought you don't notice someone walk up behind you. “Y/N?” you hear behind you and you turn and notice Alexia coming towards you.
“Seriously? are you following me now?” you ask in an annoyed tone.
You notice her hesitate and then decide to push on she steps closer and asks softly “Can I sit? I think we should talk”
Deciding that you’ve had enough of the fighting you nod you head but otherwise remain silent.
She sits beside you leaving enough space to not be touching, she take a moment to reflect before she asks “You said I made a fool out of you? I don't know how Y/N”
You look over at her and can see she has a deeply hurt expression on her face and that she’s clearly hurting over that fact. Taking a deep breath you start “There is no way you didn’t know it was me Alexia, you had to have known. Thats how you made a fool out of me”
She shakes her head and says “Y/N, I had no idea it was you. All you were was this amazing girl that allowed me to be me, and share some of deepest fears with you. I was .. I am falling for you.”
At this point you have tears gathered in the corners of your eyes and you look up to her and ask “how am I supposed to believe you, the you that I know has been horrible to me in person”
“I am so so sorry about how I’ve treated you, you did not deserve it. But I didn’t know how to stop it.” she tells you in a soft voice.
You stand up and say “I don’t know if I am ever going to be able to connect the you who made my life horrible and the you who I was falling for together Alexia.”
“Wait Y/N, you have to let me try to prove I am the same person” she pleads with you as she reaches for your hand.
You don't let her grab your hand as you start to move away you tell her “I am not sure I am willing to open myself up to you again”
You can’t look back as you jog away wiping the tears from your eyes.
