yesterday was. a lot
#was sick on saturday right. slept from 4pm to 10am the next day#had a convo with my sister that turned south#and because of the weather being awful my SAD combined with that and sente into a depressive episode#had a breakdown over my relationship with my family and their (not. great acceptance/treatment of my autism)#cried for hours until my mum and dad sat down to have a talk#i vented stuff i have wanted to say for like. 2 years now. both understood and talked to my siblings about it#brothet completely understood#think my sister kinda understands#which is better than i expected because i was fully prepared for her to just. not give a fuck because i have trouble communicating with her#and now i feel kind of better?#i did. purge a fuckton of motorsport stuff from my blog because it was related to the conversation we had#but was one of many many many things that compiled into a very uncomfortable atmosphere for me in house#my mum is gonna try harder not to use the r slur which is a relief. my sister has agreed not to make fun of me when i do hear it#and become upset about it. they understand why i am upset about specific people they support and talk about in front of me#and i made sure to let them know i understand that they have diff opinions on people who have said hurtful things about disabled people#because they none of them will ever come from a place where those words hurt them#but still let them know how that affects my.... i dont wanna say trust? like my comfort in being autistic vs masking with them#which ive often been forced into doing and am still unlearning#most importantly theyve now accepted that i am autistic#that my diagnosis was not officially completed/given because the doctor advised against it. because it makes things way harder#really im just happy that i wont get comments from my sister about not actually being what i claim i am/have because they.#really upset me esp when these things that i am (autistic+adhd) and have (ocd/anxiety/depression) are linked but have been confirmed#multiple times by multiple doctors#idk i just hope things get easier from here. i can tell my family werent aware of how much this stuff was affecting me so im glad we talked#because keeping that inside was. exhausting

What is Broken (Aemond Targaryen x Pregnant Wife!Reader) SNEAK PEEK
Tumblr media
The war, the "Dance of the Dragons," as they have come to call it, is over. And yet, you are not celebrating. You have just learned that your husband, Prince Aemond, spent the last months of the war with another woman in his bed. Not only that, but his mistress is pregnant. Just like you...
Pairing: Aemond Targaryen x fem!reader (third person, no use of Y/N), side Aemond Targaryen x Alys Rivers
Warnings: Angst, pregnancy and related symptoms, infidelity, maybe smut in the future idk
Author's note: Ok well since Studious came out of me trying to power through my writer's block, hopefully this'll not only be as good, but also work as well for kicking writer's block's ass. Idk how long it's gonna be. It's based on a convo I had with the Aemond AI (made by @foxyanon ) on a day when I just didn't feel like being happy at all. Coming soon (I hope)!
What is Broken Sneak Peek
It was a lovely night in King’s Landing.
There was not a cloud to be seen for miles, and the stars were bright and twinkling. The waters of Blackwater Bay were calm and reflected the full moon as clearly as a freshly polished mirror. Even the wind seemed in a pleasant mood, carrying the sweet scent of spring on its back as it drifted lazily through the windows of the Red Keep.
Every bit of it grated on her heart like a whetstone across dull steel.
The worst night of one’s life should not be so lovely, she thought. It should be terrible. With storms and an angry sea, and perhaps even a raging fire somewhere in the distance.
If the night had been so, she would not have seen it when, only a few moments ago, a massive winged form landed in the fields just outside the city with a lowing wail, the last person she wanted to see strapped to its back. Thankfully, Aemond was far enough away that she could not make him out against the mass of his mount.
The people would cheer him in the streets as he rode toward the castle. The victorious Prince, returning after long months at war, having not only ended the war itself but avenged the deaths of his sister, brother, and his little nieces and nephews.
Daemon Targaryen and his dragon had perished above the God’s Eye, the waters below boiling when their bodies fell into its depths.
With the Rogue Prince gone, the war was swiftly over. Rhaenyra was killed, her last remaining son taken as King Aegon’s ward, and the royal host returned to King’s Landing victorious. Even Cregan Stark had agreed to halt his advance South, redirecting to Harrenhal for peace talks.
Harrenhal. A cursed place, now to be the site of great diplomacy.
Even thinking about the horrible castle was enough to turn her stomach.
A letter detailing exactly what had occurred within those melted stone halls during the war, written by the late Prince Daemon himself, sat on her vanity. A final act of retribution against his soon-to-be killer.
She knew that her husband was only returning home because of the letter.
My dear Princess,
Despite the conflict between our sides of the family, I have always thought you a rather sweet girl. Therefore, it is with the deepest regret that I must now shoulder the burden of informing you of your beloved husband’s improper conduct during this awful conflict…
A pang of nausea shot through her stomach as she remembered the words.
A mistress… some Strong bastard… called Alys, my spies tell me… every night, without fail… from the very first week… another bastard babe in the whore’s witchly womb…
There was a pounding from within her, soft thumps and kicks as the life inside her own womb became unsettled by its mother’s roiling emotions. She laid a hand over her belly, whispering soothing words she did not believe to try and calm it – and herself.
Once, she would never have believed Daemon’s stories. But then word came that, after the final battle, Aemond returned to Harrenhal for less than an hour before he again mounted Vhagar and flew for King’s Landing. It was not like Aemond to make such swift decisions. Nor did it strike her as the action of an innocent man.
When she called for Ser Willis Fell, her heart had been filled with hope that the new Lord Commander of the Kingsguard would dispel her worries. That she had only allowed herself to consider the possibility of Aemond’s infidelity because her mind was addled by her delicate condition.
“My princess, I cannot, in good conscience, tell you a lie…”
She had screamed then. And cried. And possibly thrown things at the Kingsguard, but she couldn’t entirely remember.
All she could remember was how Aemond kissed her on the day he left for Harrenhal. Deeply and passionately. Until she could feel his love for her as clearly as her own heartbeat. Then he knelt before her and placed a single, tender kiss to her belly, to where they had only just learned that their babe grew.
Less than a moon’s turn later, he had taken another woman to his bed, and seeded her, too.

[seething]
i tried a quiche today, at a cafe clearly customer-ed by rich people. i couldn't quite place why the baristas were like, colder than normal, but after a couple minutes of surveying their patronage i was like oh.. yeah. :( this is not the scene i'm used to!
anyway, it's night now. and you won't believe the set-up in my room. little context first: my congestion has been crazier than normal, sinuses just all out of whack, nostrils closing and opening at will. the left nose hole was like, dry today or something, so the corresponding left back of my throat was sore this evening. idk the actual cause and effect here, but maybe someday soon i'll educate myself on the anatomy of it all. anyway, i have too many important things happening over the next couple of days and i can't get sick or have any pestulancies (made-up word)!! since i had already steam-bathed myself over a cup of tea post-homemade-fish-taco-dinner, and it was kind of nice, i had some empirical evidence supporting the idea that adding moisture to my air & sleeping in that for hours would make a kind of difference, so, time to bust out the humidifier! but then-- the air purifier. hmmm, you see i wake up and sneeze every morning because of fucking dust or something idk. mold?! so i've been living with my new baby as we know...but would it dry out my new air? has it been? all thoughts i've had in the last 20 minutes. anyway, i go to fill up my humidifier with water, bam, she's working right away. i put her next to my bed and turn to the air purifier at the foot of my bed, turn it on. WHY IS IT READING AT 100?! oh mygod she turned on and boom numbers start flying up. what?! its normally at like...1. maybe 002. but we flew past the 70s into the 90s and past 100?! (don't ask me what it's measuring, idk, but number bigger = badder) so i was shocked! i ran her last night, with really no need! steady low numbers, even with/after candle burning. then wasn't in my room all day! maybe left my door open for a moment this evening... so that's an unsolved mystery. but i think ugh maybe the humidifier is too close to my bed, i don't want to get wet dirty air. so the two machines are now both at the foot of my bed, sharing the rug <3 sisters <3 so cute <3 and i am well taken care of. thank you, machines! please keep me healthy! (lol just realized the mug of tea i made a while ago is also still quite warm because of my electronic mug hahaha. that's so chic)
that was a lot of dumbness. but it excites me. what else. i had a proper adventure today. so much was inspiring me and filling my bucket i just had to write it down at the beginning of my afternoon class. let's take a look at the notion, shall we?
Tumblr media
here's the translation:
i saw a young child at thinking cup newbury. we vibed. tweeted about it. go check (there's a secret passageway on here)

wanted to remember this bc it felt like i was on a streak of kindness from strangers :)
self-explanatory, second point true asf
saw a rifle for the first time in a long time! turns out i can recognize that hint of white taped wood anywhere
so that's what i did. what was i thinking tho? good question. got a list for that too.
Tumblr media
been watching a lot of movies recently. finished she's the man tonight, actually. weird as fuck, like straight up. if i did star ratings it would only get 2
coming soon :0
didn't yet (pay my credit card. lmao)
new wes anderson flick
also for my watchlist, thanks sapphic twitter
10 year pure heroine anniversary, was gonna tweet about it
coming soon :0
paper i want to read, taken from paper i read about south dakota native american abortion politics in 2006
god. when does she stop making lists...never.
silly
thinking i would
got too many eggs, want sweet treats, mad scientist therapy, etc.
secret (i want a way to store my homemade salad dressings)
pillies
so i've got a lot going on, internally and externally. big woo. have to get up so early tomorrow-- i shouldnt be up right now-- to go to a catholic training about protecting god's children, mandatory for before i begin tutoring writing once a week at an in-need private school. awkwarrddd for the church! (it's about child sexual assault prevention.) curious to see how they approach the subject. but its early as fuck and a 20 minutes drive away. watching pretty little liars right now though and the two cunty moms are discussing divorce and dating again, lmfao. this show cracks me up. i told the elevator pitch version of my parents' divorces story today, only to realize i hadn't really talked about it in a while. a long while. not something i think about, those couple of months. shit was kind of...idk. don't think i have the right word.
i should get goinggg now. i know!! such a shame. isn't it so fun to read all these details?! it's fun for me to write them. i want to remember somehow.
w/ love & sustained interest in life, talk soon, about teaching, and other things, Kate
p.s. i've been taking some pretty pictures, will share soon xo

i love you tags! yeah i can’t believe more people aren’t complaining about the fact these two sisters didn’t have a convo that wasn’t abt Anthony after episode one. it was glaringly obvious. even in episode 1 though the only thing these two girls talked about was suitors. they barely had a conversation that wasn’t about a man or alluded to a man. the show tries to play their conflict as about the sisterly relationship but it is way too anthony centric. i really hated that they had Edwina cry over not being good enough for anthony & watching her try so hard to please him. idk i did not watch this show to see a brown woman try so desperately to win this white man’s approval.
the sisterly relationship was weird bc Kate was really playing more of a maternal role but the show also didn’t want to Mary to be seen as an absent mother. (they had no idea what to do with Mary and that is so obvious in the first episodes). they sacrificed so much of the Sharma relationship to make Kate and Anthony mirrors. and what’s worse is that they didn’t even bother to properly explore the new dynamics of the sharma family or explore Kate’s different personality and trauma. i never got the vibe that either sister really new each other at all and that’s largely bc i don’t think they really knew themselves. sorry this got long!
I think you're referring to the tags on this post, which were (please mind the awful grammer):
#kate & edwina#bridgerton#kate sharma#edwina sharma#the viscount who loved me#of my favourite bits of the book and I honestly get teary everytime#*one of#the fact that we didn’t get an equivalent scene in the show#instead most? all? of their conversations after episode one centred on anthony is something i’ll hate these writers for forever#naaaah the way a white man came between these two sisters will never not infuriate me#jfc i will never be over the way they completely butchered kate & edwina#and the sharmas as a whole#WHERE WAS THE KATE AND EDWINA LOVE STORY YOU KEPT GOING ON ABOUT BECAUSE IM STILL WAITING TO SEE IT#soulmates my arse
They really didn't have a conversation that wasn't somehow related to Anthony after episode one, did they? It's so bleak jfc. When they released the posters for this season, and they had Anthony in the middle of Kate and Edwina, I was pissed off for so many reasons, but one of the main ones being this white man was shoved in the middle of these two South Asian sisters. I remember telling someone that if I hadn't read the book and didn't know about Kate and Anthony, that main poster would have turned me off watching season two, because it's the last thing that I would want to watch. It was so fucking reductive, but I guess it was a good indication that the storyline was going to be as well.
You are absolutely right that they didn't know what to do with Mary, they wasted her character (and Shelley Conn), as she was basically a non-entity for the for the first five/six episodes,?
Tbh, I didn't necessarily mind that they tilted it to make Kate and Anthony mirror each other even further, it's just infuriating because they altered the Sharma family dynamic so drastically when they didn't need to. You could have had Kate take on the mantle of being the de facto head of family, but still have Mary trying to emotionally support both her daughters, like she does in the books? The Sharmas could have still had a bond similar to that of the Sheffields in the book, with both Mary and Edwina knowing what Kate really wants, but Kate struggling to admit it to them, and them not neccesarily knowing why she struggles. Kate seemed so lonely on the show, for no reason, because even Anthony had Violet and Daphne in his corner encouraging him to choose happiness and love, because they could see that marrying Edwina was not what he truly wanted. On the show, Mary and Edwina thought that what Kate craved most was freedom and independence, and returning to India, when that wasn't it at all.
I just…I feel like Kate and Edwina's (and Mary's) relationship on the show had next to none of the warmth that we see in their book relationship? You never really got the sense that they understood the other better than anyone else. Edwina's line in episode eight where she says Kate "does not know herself" pisses me off, because actually, Kate knows who she is and what she wants, she's just been too scared to admit it and really go for it because a) she doesn't think she's deserving of it or done enough to earn it, and b) she doesn't want to open herself up to a similar heartbreak like she suffered when her father died. It takes Mary telling Kate that she deserves to be happy, and that she doesn't owe people things in return for being loved, for Kate to actually admit what she wants.
And like you said, they didn't properly explore Kate's trauma and grief, and just how that affected everything she's done since her father died. Yes Edwina was right to be angry, but we never get a conversation between her and Kate where it's acknowledged exactly what Kate has sacrificed, and what else she was willing to give up if she thought it meant Edwina (and Mary) would be settled and happy. And it sucks.

a million yrs ago i drew an art with the wheel. and there was a fic for an au and i was like theres another part thats not au
i never got around to it - didn’t really know how to go about it really
and then the other night this idea came to flirt with me and it had more banter but i still dont know how to plug my brain into a word doc so that convos that play in my head can happen on “paper”
anyways; yes i over use same themes over and over and over again :)
Ferris Wheel Summer 2021+
“So,” Edward started as they rounded the corner and had a clear view of the Ferris wheel, “How many times have you been on it since it opened?” He asked his boyfriend, joking tone and all. It was a bright sunny summer day and a walk around town had inevitably led them into the Old Port.
“Honestly? Probably a lot less than you think – I’ve only been on it once,” Étienne told him with a shrug.
“You got me; that is less than I thought, but you mean to tell me that you haven’t taken any of your hot dates on a romantic ride on the Ferris wheel?” Edward waggled his eyebrows for show and Étienne laughed, but crinkled his nose at the thought of doing such a thing.
“Nah – it’s too much for a casual thing – too loaded. The whole get to the top and stop, romantic vibes abound and such. Ferris wheel is either for families, tourists or couples. Maybe a group of friends, but it depends.” He declared as though a study had been made on the fact and he had spent hours studying these factors.
“All right, so you’re not a tourist, I doubt you came here with your brothers, last I heard you’re not in a relationship with anyone else – who’d you come with?”
“You’re right on all accounts, but you forgot I have a sister. El and I came on opening day,” He admitted, if a little sheepish.
“Of course you were here on opening day,” Edward said with a roll of his eyes. How silly of him to think that the Maisonneuve twins wouldn’t have been here on the inauguration of the wheel, when they were known to be at every opening of every new thing in the city – especially new, in vogue things. “But also, that’s sweet.” He added. He’d always thought it was nice how close Étienne and Élyse were and how even though they didn’t always agree and had different opinions on literally everything; their love for their city prevailed and they found time to enjoy it together. Edward tried to picture himself doing something of the likes with his own sister and nearly laughed. This would not have been the type of thing he and Edith would have done together, but then again, their relationship was different. Maybe it was a twin thing.
They fell quiet and kept walking closer to the wheel, strolling down the boardwalk in front of it. It was nice to see the waterfront busy again and filled with locals and tourists alike after the emptiness that had befallen it in recent years due to the pandemic. In a sense, it reassured Edward that if anything, this part of the city was recovering and that Étienne would still have this.
They stopped at a clearing and leaned against the railing to observe the wheel and the small plaza around it and it was nice to listen to the bird song and the excited chatter of the people around them, while below, others peddled on rented pedal boats.
“We should go,” Edward said after a while, breaking the silence.
“Now?” Étienne asked to be sure he was hearing right, surprised, really, that Edward would suggest going.
“No, next Tuesday – yes now, come on. We’re here, I’ve never been, and I can tell you’d want to go on it again.”
Edward smirked and Étienne closed his mouth, letting his comment die at his lips. His boyfriend had a point. He did actually want to go on it again, but going on it alone seemed a little silly and Emma hadn’t really wanted to ride the wheel. Bringing a fling had seemed like too much – as though he was trying to impress when really, they were both in it for something much different and less lasting. However, Edward was his boyfriend and – he had thought of bringing him out here. On more than one occasion. (But there had been a pandemic and then they had done other things on Edward’s last visit and there hadn’t been time for this.)
  Now, however...
Edward grabbed Étienne’s hand and led him over the footbridge and to the small line. Étienne tried hard not to trip over the fact that Edward had willingly and without prompting reached out for his hand and then reverted to his usual “tour guide” information dump as he blabbered on about the finer points of the wheel, the design, the great features about it and the overall charm it had in this location. Edward thought it was utterly endearing and loved it when his boyfriend went into his excited chatter about different aspects of his city. He could hear the passion and love Étienne had for his home and it made some part of his heart melt. He’d missed this, over their break – missed the palatable excitement Étienne had and could have – the way his face lit up and his hands moved around as he gesticulated.
  “Bonjour, deux billets s’il-vous-plait.”
Étienne blinked and realised that he’d been distracted with his ramble to the point where Edward had snuck ahead of him and had now taken out his wallet to pay for the tickets.
“Édouard.” Étienne cautioned, “What are you doing?” He wasn’t about to have his boyfriend pay, not when this was an extremely splurgy thing and highly unnecessary.
“Buying our tickets, move over,” He nudged Étienne out of the way and managed to extract his credit card from his wallet, without Étienne ripping it out of his hands.
“What – no, let me. We’re in Montreal. I pay for things in Montreal.”
Edward looked him dead in the eyes as he tapped his card on the terminal, much to Étienne’s horror and shock. This was betrayal of the highest degree.
“This is not part of our deal!”
“Curly, we have no such deal.” Edward replied calmly as he took the tickets from the teller and thanked them, “Now, come along, you can pay for ice cream later.” Edward put his wallet away and then moved ahead, pleased with his little plan.
“Who said anything about ice cream?” Étienne squawked as he followed Edward to the next line to get onto the Ferris wheel.
“I did – you can take me afterwards.”
Étienne tried to protest, but Edward took his hand again and led him to the railing to get to their Ferris wheel gondola. Étienne tried to pout and be annoyed, but his giddiness over being here with Edward quickly won out as they took their seats side by side.
“See, these are high tech gondolas. You can fix your own temperature and either put the AC or the heating on, weather depending, and you get really nice views once you’ve gained some height.” His previous annoyance was quickly forgotten and Edward silently congratulated himself as Étienne’s previous mood returned.
“Shall we put the heating on?” Edward teased as the doors closed and the gondola started moving quietly.
Étienne rolled his eyes, “It’s summer; I’m good. We can put the AC on if it’s too hot for you. Wouldn’t want you to melt.”
“We can compromise,” Edward said, rolling his eyes, fond, as he adjusted the dials so that they would both be comfortable, but if it was a degree or two on the cold side so that Étienne had an extra excuse to sit close to Edward, well, that was between them.
They settled in afterwards and Edward took in the multiple angles of the view. “Are we supposed to make-out when we get inevitably stuck on the top, or...?” He asked as the wheel quietly turned, a gentle seamless whirring in the background.
“Only if you want and you don’t think it’s too cliché.”
Edward studied him for a moment as Étienne looked at him and then busied himself with the window. Even after knowing him for so long, Étienne could still be an enigma, but Edward liked to think that he had gotten quite good at deciphering him. For as much as his boyfriend claimed he didn’t do romance, Edward had finally found out that it had been a cover – to protect himself from his own difference – from his own way he felt and reacted to romantic attraction. It made sense now, retrospectively, and they’d talked about it, but knowing that and now knowing how it was Étienne felt about him, Edward could tell that there were certain “typical things” Étienne still wanted to do with him – even if they were considered to be a “cliché”.
If anything, Edward thought it was endearing and even if he wasn’t the most outward of people when it came to expressing his emotions and love, he didn’t mind the idea of a kiss or two at the top of the wheel. There was no one else around them anyways. They never needed to tell anyone, if they so desired.
But those were thoughts for later and for now, Edward focused on the view surrounding him.
Étienne hadn’t been lying (not that he would have expected him to); the views were stunning. The canal hugged one side of the island, cradled it close and separated it from the two manmade islands that had been the crown jewels of Expo. Edward remembered that time fondly, even if it still seemed like a hectic fever dream, but there had been a bustle in the air of the city that had left everyone dreaming and hungering for a better future. They had been exciting times full of promise, somehow, and looking back, he thought he could still feel the remnants of that frenzy – still lingering in the air, caught in small glimpses on occasions. Now there were only a few buildings left, prestigious in their own ways, and they added to the charm and attraction of the city, nestled safely in their own spots of the picturesque postcard view.
Behind, the Clock Tower stood proud and erect, a beacon of the past that guided tourists and city folk alike to come and admire its beauty. Further away still, if Edward turned on his seat, the Jacques Cartier bridge connected Montreal to the South shore, while it looked over the brilliant turquoise greens of the water on a sunny day. Sometimes, if the light hit just right, Edward could swear he saw a mirrored image in Étienne’s own eyes and he would feel pulled in – lured in and he’d willingly go – every time.
The wheel completed its first turn and there was still much he hadn’t properly looked at. The Old Port came into view and then panned out as the wheel gained height once more. From above, he could see how the original village – the original city of Montreal had fought floods, fires and winters alike to survive and expand. The original building blocks may have been safely buried underneath their feet and preserved lovingly in Pointe-à-Callière, but the true spirit of the city – the heart of it really – of what it had been and had become lay further ahead, ensconced and treasured in the heart of the mountain that had guided and sheltered many for so long. There, really, was the essence, he believed.
It happened on the third turn. The wheel came to a gentle stop at the top and Étienne leaned closer to one of the sides to get a better look at the waterfront, the bridge, the Biosphere in the back and the bustle of activity below them, mesmerised in what he saw. “It’s really something from this angle...” He murmured, almost as if to himself.
And Edward had to take a small step back to take in the fuller picture before him. The gentle smile splayed out on Étienne’s face was a sight to behold on itself and the way his boyfriend’s face relaxed as he took in the scenery pulled at his heart. Edward could read, even from here, the pride and joy Étienne felt in seeing his own people mingling about and how that tiny little village from before had evolved over the centuries – had thrived despite all odds. Here was where one part of the story had started and further ahead was its origin point, but Étienne was all of that – the element that brought it all together.
It hadn’t always been easy and Edward knew of the struggles Étienne had gone through, but the soft look on his face was worth it and a look he hoped Étienne could carry more often than not. He wordlessly reached for his boyfriend’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze as they both quietly took in their own different views.
“It really is,” He agreed, “It really is,” He repeated, softer.
Étienne did the mistake of turning to look back at him and Edward was left speechless by the depth of green he saw in Étienne’s eyes; lured and pulled in once more, like always. Étienne gave him the softest of smiles and Edward swore that the butterflies he felt in his stomach were real; that the swooping feeling he always got when Étienne smiled at him was here to stay.
He tugged himself closer, pulled gently on Étienne’s hand until they were closer and then caressed his boyfriend’s cheek. Edward’s hand was certain and warm, and Étienne leaned closer to him still, holding him, not wanting to let go just yet.
“I love you,” Edward thought, pressing his lips to Étienne’s as the Ferris wheel started its descent. And maybe Étienne heard his thoughts, for the look on his face when they pulled away was open and loving. He looped his arms around Edward’s neck, laughing softly, before going for another kiss and then a third and a fourth.
He didn’t know what it was about the circular form of the gondola – the safety of the bubble that gave them both an illusion of being in a safe enclosure, but it made Edward just a little more daring as he chased a kiss across his boyfriend’s lips and it made Étienne cherish the moment even more.

hi! I am here to inquire about the plot of dream verse 💓
under the cut bcs i got carried away
EP 1: Dive Into You
It is no secret that 20-year-olf Park Jisung was born in luck. He was the full package – tall, handsome, smart, good-hearted, skilled at sports, and extremely rich. His family had found wealth 25 years before, when his grandfather (Park Haru) started the hot sauce business that would become the most successful hot sauce business in South Korea – DREAM FLAVOR. No one knew exactly how he had done it, as it seemed to have happened in the blink of an eye – people always asked him, but all he would do was wink and say, ‘I just had a spark of good luck’. But no one knew how true that was.
Jisung always looked up to his grandfather, and trusted every single word that came out of his mouth. His step-father (Jae-yi), however, had a much different opinion on the old man. He thought Haru was a total nut case, always nagging him obsessing over that damn candle. Truth be told, he did sort of have a point. Haru had a candle he was extremely secretive about, which he kept in a locked room beside his bedroom. You know, the “normal” place where people keep candles. As he was growing up, he always told Jisung that the candle was actually far more precious than it seemed, and that he should never let it blow out. A bunch of popicocks, as his father would say, but Jisung never forgot it.
He still didn’t forget it on that cold day of early May – that is, the day his grandfather died. Some people say death isn’t lonely, but that’s exactly how Jisung felt. Haru was not just his grandpa – he was his role model, his teacher, and most of all, his friend. On his will, he decidedto give Jisung a key to the candle’s room with a note that said, ‘I’m giving my spark of good luck to you and ONLY you. Use it well’. Jisung was torn because he wanted to trust that the last words his grandpa said to him were meaningful, but he couldn’t help but think, ‘What’s this old nut saying?’. Nonetheless, he took the key and went into the ominous room, with nothing but hope as his company. The candle was burning in the center of the dark windowless room, untouched and unsettling. It was just a normal candle you could find at a local market, yet something about the flame made it impossible to look away. Unsure of what to do, he decided to just leave and go home to try to forget about the whole thing. Yet, the trembling flame kept haunting his dreams for the entire night.
The next day, Jisung’s father decided it was time to move into Haru’s house and turn it upside down, with no care to the fact that the body of Haru was almost not even cold yet. He wanted to clean each room, but he couldn’t get into the candle room. Jisung was unsure of what to do – he did think his grandfather was bananas, but he also didn’t want to disrespect the only legacy he had left him. So, he refused to give up the key, and instead offered to clean the room himself. After dusting every inch of the area, he opened the door to let some air in. But as the wind was roaring outside, a sudden violent breeze came through the door and blew the candle out. Jisung rushed over and then ran to get a box of matches, to try to light it up as quickly as possible. However, no match seemed to work, as the fire appeared to refuse to burn again. With a wretched feeling in his gut, he immediately left and went back home to take a nap, trying to tell himself that it was nothing big. Boy, was he wrong…
When Jisung woke up from his nap, the sight that welcomed him was not what he expected – a young boy with blue hair and a green hoodie was sitting on the floor across from his bed. ‘Hi, I’m Mark’, he said – simple words that scared Jisung to his very bones. Raddled and very confused, Jisung decided to call his 5 friends – Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, and Chenle – and asked them to come over, hoping that together they would be able to make sense of the situation. But alas, they did not. As they watched Mark ravaging Jisung’s fridge as if he hadn’t eaten in a decade, they tried to come up with a game plan.
However, quick-tempered Haechan quickly lost his patience, and told Mark either he left on his own, or they were going to call the police. At which Mark looked at Jisung in disbelief and asked him if his grandfather hadn’t told him anything about him. Utterly confused, the boy shook his head, and so Mark told his story to the 6 googly-eyed friends…
Mark was 500-year-old spirit, born under the Joseon dynasty. Once he died, a witch bounded him to the candle – whenever someone lit it, Mark would bring good fortune and money to their family as long as the flame was burning. If it was blown out, the fortune would stop and Mark could wander the earth freely until someone new lighted it again.
The 6 friends exchanged a look and knew they were all thinking the same thing – they had to light that candle up once again.
(end of ep 1, now I’m gonna go more quickly omg this is so long I’m genuinely sorry)
EP 2: Rainbow
Mark overhears a convo between the others and becomes aware of the fact that they want to put him back inside the candle, but obviously he doesn’t want to. So he makes a pact with them to have 3 days of freedom, and he plans on stealing the candle in the meantime. He wants to go to the beach, so the 7 of them go on a road trip.
The 7 of them do some bonding and Mark tells them more of this story. He was born in a family of slaves and had grown up seeing all the injustices inflicted upon his people by the hands of the hierarchs. So, one day he decided to take matters into his own hands and began retaliating, by stealing from the royals to help his family. But his anger for revenge couldn’t stop at just stealing – he wanted the blood of those who had hurt his people. So, when he died, the witch put him there as a punishment for the murders.
They find out he’s a nice guy so they don’t want to put him back into the candle, as they realize he should have a chance to live too. So Mark tells them there is a way he can be out but still have access to his powers – they need the help of the witch who put him there. Obviously she’s dead by now but her power ran through her family, so she must have a descendant who is able to help them.
EP 3: Diggity
The witch who put him there was called Man Wol Lee and, as they find out, was an ancestor of Haechan. He doesn’t have magic but his twin sister – Hae-soo – does. So they go to her and try their best to convince her (Mark is the only one who manages to get through to her). In the meantime – Haru’s business (who is now in the hands of Jisung’s father) begins to go into trouble + Mark is staying as Jisung’s house (as he’s usually by himself anyway since his parents both work a lot) so the two have a lot of talks and stuff (e.g. Mark explains that when the candle is lit, he is stuck in a limbo called the Dreamverse – i.e. a place stuck between life and death where he has to face his own worst nightmares + tells him how he had met Haru). Anyways, they get Hae-soo to try something witchy so she channels Man Wol’s spirit with a spell book they found (and that Mark translated since he knew old Korean). They find out Mark and Man Wol used to be lovers (uh) in the old times, and she was the one who killed him and then forced him into the candle because she wanted to stop his lust for blood. She tells them the only way to free Mark is to bind someone else to the candle, to replace him.
EP 4: Irreplaceable
(+ Mark starts being mean to Hae-soo bcs he’s mad at Man Wol) They conclude the person they lock up should be a bad person + they don’t wanna kill them so they should find someone who justdied. So they go to the hospital but don’t find anyone (un)worthy enough (they know bcs Mark see what someone has been like while they were alive bcs of a spirit thingy).
*some shit happens*
They discover the candle got stolen. They search for a while, but then Mark disappears – someone must have lighted the candle again.
EP 5: Be There For You
Hae-soo does a locator spell so they’re able to find the candle, and discover that it’s now in possession of Vincenzo Cassano, one of the biggest mafia bosses in South Korea (he had heard of the candle’s powers and he wanted to use it). The 6 boys go to him to try to blow the candle out and free Mark, but they get caught and are taken hostage (they are taken to a storage area near Vincenzo’s house). Thankfully, Hae-soo followed them and blew the candle out, so Mark goes to free them but when he’s about to kill Vincenzo to protect Hae-soo, he can’t bcs spirits can’t kill the people who used to “own” them, so Jisung throws himself in the middle and gets shot instead. To stop him from dying, Hae-soo puts him in the candle.
EP 6: All Night Long
They realize Vincenzo has fled and has taken the candle. So there are two “realities” in the episode.
On one hand, there’s Jisung who is in the Dreamverse. There he sees a world exactly like his true reality BUT everything goes wrong – his grandfather is alive but tells him he’s a disappointment + his mother dies at Jisung’s hands + Jeno, Jaemin, Renjun, Chenle and Haechan force him to kill Hae-soo + they then try to kill him so he has to run away.
*BACKSTORY: Jisung’s father died before he was born + then his mother re-married but then she dies as well when he was 16 + Jisung never got along with Jae-yi and even less after the death of his mom
On the other hand, the others are trying to figure out how to bring Jisung back. Hae-soo and Mark contact Man Wol to ask her more information – she tells them they can enter Dreamverse (with her help ofc) and can help Jisung find an “exit”, which Mark couldn’t use since Man Wol made it impossible for him to access to ensure he would not escape. Jisung can use it bcs the prison world was not created for him. Jaemin, Jeno, Renjun, Haechan and Chenle go to Vincenzo’s house to try to find something to track him down (since the locator spell doesn’t work). But when they go there they find Vincenzo’s dead body and no trace of the candle.
EP 7: Rocket
Two “realities” again.
Mark and Hae-soo go in Dreamverseto rescue Jisung (they find him first and the two mend fences). They convince him they’re real (bcs he’s kinda going bananas and can’t distinguish the Dreamversefrom reality) + they take him to the exit which is a door located in the middle of Dreamverse – the door is the door to the ‘candle’s room’ at Haru’s house. They go there (struggling bcs the others try to stop them + it takes a lot of energy for Hae-soo to keep them inside so she’s weak) and manage to get out (yay!).
Jaemin, Jeno, Renjun, Haechan and Chenle look at the CCTV (Haechan hacks into it) but they can’t see who killed Vincenzo (bcs there’s no cameras in that room) BUT there’s one in the garage so they can see the car of the person who killed him à the car plate! They recognize it so they know who’s the owner. They go back to Hae-soo’s to find them all out + tell them who is the killer (and has the candle) – Jisung’s step-father, Jae-yi.
EP 8: Hot Sauce
Jisung is out BUT he’s not human – he’s a spirit, both alive and dead at the same time (so he can’t feel touch and stuff, that’s important for later). + Jisung has a talk with Hae-soo to thank him for saving her life and apologize for putting him in that situation. He replies that he’s the one who’s thankful bcs she saved his life. They kiss <3 but Jisung can’t feel anything so :(
So Jisung, Jaemin, Jeno, Renjun, Haechan and Chenle go to Jae-yi’s (which is actually Haru’s) house and try to find evidence of him being linked to Vincenzo – Jisung still doesn’t wanna believe it, but they find evidence. Mark and Hae-soo contact Man Wol and explain to her the situation and ask if they can put Jisung’s father in there without killing him. She tells them there’s a way to do with just a drop of his blood + explains the spell to Hae-soo + tells Mark she forgives him. So they go face Jisung’s step-father: there’s a fight and yadiyadiyada but they manage to put him inside so yay!!!
The “owner” of the candle is now Jisung. He decides to use the fortune to continue Haru’s hot sauce business – he puts it in a box (the one from the life is still going on mv). Mark is a human now so he can go anywhere but decides to stay in Seoul and experience life as a normal college student. Jisung and Hae-soo kiss again <3
EP 9: Life Is Still Going On (BONUS EPISODE)
It’s 7 years into the future. Everyone meets again at a dinner thrown by Jisung.
Jisung is the CEO of DREAM FLAVOR and the company has grown even more + he’s engaged to Hae-soo who is doing her medical residency to become a surgeon + Haechan and Chenle are now starting a tech company together (about keeping you safe from hackers etc) + Jaemin is a surgical resident as well + Jeno is now a soccer player in the national team + Mark is getting his second Bachelor’s
They eat and chat + Jisung tells Haechan and Chenle he’s giving them the candle bcs they need the luck more since they’re starting a new business. So he blows it out + the episode ends with Haechan lighting it again.
-FIN-
Thanks for reading omg this was fun :DDD

5. talk about the best birthday you ever had
tbh i haven't liked my birthday in years, it's usually a boring day and nothing special or enjoyable with half hearted birthday wishes from my friends. but the best, maybe the summer where for our birthday (i have a twin sister), my family (parents and my grandmother) drove to new york. i live in like way south florida so it was a long ass drive, but stopped in virginia and we saw the caves and i have a geode somewhere from there. and we went to d.c. and walked literally everywhere to the museums and then we went to new york and ate dinner at a friend of my grandmothers house, saw my aunt, stayed at a family friends house in jersey, and once again walked everywhere to museums and we have this pic from the Empire state building where it was raining and one of the doormen got into the pic. it was fun. also it was a kinda weird trip the day of my birthday bc that was the day michael jackson died so we turned on the tv and every news channel was talking about it. i honestly dont have any specific memories from the trip, just vague stuff, i was like 10?
21. talk about a time you had to turn someone down
literally has never happened to me, but turning someone down also requires someone interested in you so and if this means anything non-romantic i still don't think it's ever happened
23. talk about a time when someone turned you down
uh literally nearly every job and internship i've ever applied for. and yeah romantically speaking never but that's because i have anxiety and admitting feelings to someone would've made me like burst into flames or something (or that nick miller post where he immediately runs off after having a heartfelt convo with schmidt)
ask me to 'talk about' something!

(Third movie. The ember incident)
(On the Jolly Roger. Harriet melts out of the shadows. Falls face first on the floor. She gets up. Grabs a fire poker. And immediately starts attacking everything in sight)
Harriet: I HATE THEM. I HATE THEM ALL. I WANT NOTHING MORE THEN TO GRAB THEM AND GRIND THEIR FACES INTO POISONOUS CORAL. AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
(CJ has been patiently watching her sisters tirade, while silently judging her, and is now ready to say her piece)
CJ: drink?
Harriet: port if we have it
CJ: coming right up
Harriet: what’ve you been reading. A brine bloated Bronte?
CJ: a sea soaked Shelley actually
Harriet: the light is terrible in here. You should at least read out on the deck if not at the shadow man’s
CJ: you know I could but I don’t want to.
Harriet: fair is fair.
CJ: so. I take it the little convo didn’t work out?
Harriet: that little witch girl got to me before I could slay the dragon
CJ: and how would that have worked out for you? The king has magic. Then there’s her sister. And the genie. And the kid. And the specky little four eyed weirdo. Who all love her for some reason.
Harriet: because they don’t know what she is.
CJ: the daughter of Maleficent
(Harriet gives her a withering look)
CJ: ohhhh the other thing
Harriet: yes the other thing (she takes a swig of port) if they knew. About the both of them. They would never be welcome. Then the kingdom would be Harry’s for the taking
CJ: we have to tell him first
Harriet: if we ever see him again
CJ: they both knew what would happen if they hypnotised the prince. It’s twue wuv after all
Harriet: uuuurrrrgggghhhh! Gimme a Legume any day.
CJ: why?
Harriet: Deaux is 6”5 and built like a cement lavatory. You do the math
CJ: yeah. Still can’t see it.
Harriet: for that I blame Gothel
CJ: in her day mother Gothel was a very handsome woman
Harriet: if you say so. But now she’s old haggard and constantly whinging about a German lettuce.
CJ: I would also like the German lettuce. Gaddammit. Why are all the good women either too old, straight, prefer my brother or hate my guts.
Harriet: because there’s about fifty mothers here, with as many children on this slag heap there’s bound to be hetero’s, they think they can “fix” him even though he doesn’t need fixing and those people are idiots who will one day be felled by our blades
(A dustished but very old man hobbles down to the galley)
CJ: hey uncle Starkey
Starkey: good afternoon girls. Have you see your father today
Harriet: with luck he swallowed his own tongue during the night
Starkey: Harriet
Harriet: fine. I’ll go check on the bastard
(Meanwhile at the arcade. Hades has arrived just as Mal and the others left
Facillier: and where exactly do you think you are going?
Hades (Jesse L Martin): the barrier. Iris. I have a present for her. Whew. That took a lot out of me
Facillier: if you teleported then you’d not be out of breath like a common mortal
Hades: I need to get this to her before she leaves. Engagement present
(He holds up the ember. Facillier blanches and grabs the gods arm)
Facillier: my daughter is in that limo. And I entrusted her safety to the future queen. Do you honestly think I’d let you endanger my daughter because of your frankly horrendously tardy sentiment
Hades: 🎶it can be her old new borrowed and blue🎶
Facillier: it will not recognise her. Either of them. It could kill them both.
Hades: Hadie said that as well.
Facillier: how drunk was the young one
Hades: something about reed root
Facillier: oh yeah. I gave it to him.
Hades: thank you for that by the way. Now he can argue.
Facillier: you’re welcome
Hades: just wait until you kid starts boozing
(Facillier stops smiling)
Hades: ta ta
(He teleports away in electric blue fire waving goodbye as he does so)
Facillier (hurriedly): no nononononono (sighs deeply and looks upwards) I know I did wrong. And I have more then made up for it. But you are testing me. And it is not appreciated. So please. One break. I have surely earned that much?
Tremaine: FACILLIER!
Facillier (under his breath): evidently not (with a fake smile on his face and faux joviality) Lady Tremaine. To what do I owe the pleasure
Tremaine: is it back yet.
Facillier: who
Tremaine: the flesh mass I pulled out of my daughter 13 years ago
Facillier (looking and sounding rightly horrified): you mean Dizzy
Tremaine: is that it’s name? Huh. I thought we left it unnamed
Facillier: of course. Wouldn’t want to give her the illusion that you care about her would you?
Tremaine: see. You get it.
(Facillier groans inwardly)
Tremaine: so. Where is she. Is she back yet. The salon needs cleaning.
Facillier: she is in Auradon. Where she has been for a year.
Tremaine: I assumed that folly would have fallen through ages ago
Facillier: in case you haven’t noticed there is a distinct lack of unhappy starving neglected and abused children milling about.
Tremaine: I know it’s sickening isn’t it.
Facillier: not really no. There’s only so much hades and myself can do. It’s good that they’re getting out of here. We deserve it.
Tremaine: I don’t believe I deserve this fate
Facillier: and that is exactly why you do. Anyway. Haven’t you got a grandson you torture?
Tremaine: Anastasia took Anthony away. Eight years ago. As far as I know he’s in flagrante with that Hadie person
Facillier: good for him.
Tremaine: people like him should be strung up. You can clean my salon. Won’t that be nice. Your people made a name for themselves working for my kind after all
Facillier: in a single breath you have displayed homophobia and racism. So no. Clean up your own mess you privileged bitch
(He teleports her away)
Vision!Celia: she has such a bad attitude
Facillier: it’s the privilege. Ruins people.
V!Celia: you raised Celia right. Well. Right as you could given circumstances
Facillier: now she’s safe
(From outside there’s a screeching noise)
Facillier: I spoke too soon
(In the limo)
Mal: don’t tell me you brought it with you?
Evie: of course I did
Ben: brought what?
Mal: my dear little sister is belabouring under the impression that she’s my wedding planner. Ben and I have been engaged to less than a day.
Evie: your point being?
Mal: my point being is. How long have you been working on this? Since cotillion?
Evie: no not cotillion. Coronation
Mal: my mistake. Gissa look then
Evie: no! With any luck you won’t have to until the final product
Mal: ahahaha. No. Give it here.
Evie: but Ben
Mal (pitting up a hand to silence her sister): Ben dear. Would you like to know what our wedding is going to look like?
Ben: yes please
Evie (sighing): fine
(She hands the binder to her sister who starts perusing it with Ben)
Mal: let’s see now.
Ben: oh dear oh dear dear dear dear dear
Evie: what now?
Mal: white dress? Really?
Evie: what’s wrong with white? It’s classic traditional pure innocent virg...(sees the “bitch please look at who you’re talking to” expressions bal are giving her and how much Mal is pressed up against Ben’s chest) ok I see where I went wrong. So what do you suggest.
Ben: purple green and black for Mal’s side
Mal: blue and yellow for Ben’s side
Evie: but the dresses
Mal: I have some ideas. Tell me Ben. What’s your favourite dress of mine.
Ben: uhhhh. Hmmmmm. The dress you had at cotillion after you turned into a dragon
Mal: great. We use that one then.
Evie: what about the feathers?
Mal: I’m not that fond of feathers.
Evie: yeah yeah yeah. Everyone’s aware of your stance on doves. What about swans.
Mal: love her. Should’ve killed Regina though. And her daughter in law is more my speed
Ben: so is the son. Well. The season seven one
Mal: why do you think I opened with daughter in law
Evie: how did this turn into a rundown of your collective fictional crushes.
Mal: would you rather we talk about Paul Rudd. Or Mark Ruffalo? Whichever you prefer is fine with us
Evie (going red in the face and squirming in her seat): ummmm.
Mal: I’m kidding sis. Swans are fine. But dye them black blue purple yellow and green. Mkay?
Evie: yeah fine whatever
Doug: JESUS CHRIST!!!!
(Everyone follows his gaze to the back window. A women is running to the archway sending others into a panic. She’s got a glowing jewel in her hand)
Doug: who is that
Vks (except Celia): I don’t know
Celia: it’s hades
Jay: what.
Celia: gods don’t have a fixed form Jay
Mal: c’mon
(They all get out of the limo. Except Celia who’s caught by Mal and given to Carlos who puts her back in the limo)
Celia: what the hell are you doing let me help
Mal: sorry kid. Your dad told me to look after you. And to do that you can’t be here. Carlos can you take her back to the school?
Carlos: sure thing
(He gets into the drivers seat and tears away leaving the others to face the god)
Mal: what do we do.
Evie: oh I think you know
Mal: oh. Heh heh. Right
(Her eyes glow bright emerald gree. Purple smoke surrounds her. When it clears she’s a dragon)
Jay: I’ll cover Mal. Ben and Evie you two go either side. Doug. Call the guys at home. Tell them to stop filming
Doug: why would they still be. Oh ok I heard it as I said. I’ll calm them
(In Auradon Carlos has just burst out of the limo)
Carlos: gran you gotta come with me right now. Gramma could you please take Celia and make sure she doesn’t off?
Elsa: what’s wrong?
Belle: why would Celia run off?
Celia: Hades is trying to escape the barrier.
Carlos: I didn’t want to tell them just yet kid
Celia: well it’s the truth
Belle: why is he trying to escape the barrier
Chad: who’s escaping the barrier
Celia: Don’t you have a girlfriend to disappoint
Chad: she’s at the bar
Celia: then go
Chad: I’d rather stay here
Carlos: FUCK OFF CHAD
Chad: well then
Belle: chad please
Chad: oh my god HAHAHAHA SHE GONNA DIE HAHAHAHAHA
(They all look towards the jumbo screen)
Carlos: oh this is not good
(At the barrier hades is being force choked by Ben, Jay and Evie which is making him flit between all four forms. The ember is blasting Mal in the heart. She’s screaming. Doug’s putting gloves on in case it goes south. It does. Mal manages to fly above the ember blast. Hades accidentally drops it. Once it hits the ground it’s blast concentrates on Ben, Jay and Evie. Mal turns back into a human too weak to maintain dragon form and falls. Doug catches her)
(In Auradon Chad’s still laughing)
Chad: look at your freak of a queen now people. So pathetic she can’t beat a god. One who crossdresses apparently
Leah (hobbling up to them): he is right. That girl will spell destruction for us all
Belle: why are you here Leah?
Elsa: more to the point. Why are you still alive
Audrey (rushing to them): I’m so sorry. I invited her so she can apologise to Mal and oh my god what’s happening
Celia: a god, who FYI is more powerful then a genie, dark fairy, sorceress and hybrid combined numbnuts, is trying to escape the barrier
Audrey: are they ok
Chad: who cares
Carlos, Celia, Belle, Elsa and Audrey: we care
Leah: I agree with chad. Perhaps if she dies my granddaughter can retain her rightful place on the throne then our plans will not have been for naught
Audrey: you know what Grammy? Why don’t you just piss of back to Auroria. Because you are not wanted here. Queen Elsa could you do the honours? Please?
Elsa: it would be my pleasure
(She teleports Leah away in a flurry of snow)
Carlos: where’d Celia go?
(In te gym Celia melts out from the shadow just in time to see dizzy and the twins cheering at Lonnie beating Gil in a sparring match)
Celia: what the hell are you doing. (Pointing to Gil) your brother (pointing to Dizzy) your mother (pointing to Lonnie) and the object of your lust are being targeted by an escaping god.
Lonnie: wait what? How did you I
Celia: I can read people alright. It’s not a. It’s not a good thing. Especially on the island. Anyway. Hades. Escaping. Friends. In trouble. Dizz’s asshole cousin. Running his mouth. Help. Or not
Gil: help. No question. We help however we can.
Celia: good. You two do something about the stench. Dizzy the twins and I will go back outside come on guys
(She melts back into shadow along with the others. At the barrier Doug has set Mal on the ground and turned his attention to hades)
Doug: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING
Hades (Sebastian Stan): it won’t stop until it’s back inside the barrier
Doug: argh I hate adults.
(He rubs part Jay and kicks the ember back inside. The momentum of the jewel hits hades square in the forehead and sends him somesaulting backwards. Ben, Jay and Evie collapse on the ground)
Hades (on the verge of tears): I’m so sorry my darlings
(Mal, eyes ablaze with fury, sends thorn vines in his direction. Hades teleports away in blue fire and the vines disintegrate when they hit the barrier. Then Mal collapses again)
Doug (going to each of them in turn): is everyone alright? I’m just gonna roll you over in your sides so you don’t swallow your tongues.
Evie (pulling him into a hug): you saved us
Doug: well my family was in trouble. It’s what we do for each other. Why would that-stone-thing-attack you guys
Mal (breathing heavily): I uh I don’t I dun kn
Ben (rushing to her side): it’s ok. It’s ok. It’s all over
Evie (scoffing): for all you know. It’s hades. He mortalised his nephew because he was jealous.
Doug: that was a bastardisation. Zeus is really the dickhead. It’s not Hades who literally swans about look for human women to prey upon
Jay: you know all this how?
Doug: I read.
Jay: such as?
Doug: tumblr. Mostly. When you manage to find your own niche away from drama you it’s very informative.
Ben: but you’re technologically illiterate.
Doug: I was not so much but that Evie and Carlos helped oh dear
(Mal’s retched and thrown up on the ground)
Mal: that was awful. It was tearing my magic out of me. It felt like last year.
Evie: I felt it too. Like a price of my soul was being ripped out
Jay: we need to get back to the school.
Doug: none of you are in any position to teleport yourselves or me. I’ll call Carlos and ask him to bring the car (he rifles around in his pockets) fucking fuckity fuck fuck shitting hell
Mal: what’s wrong.
Doug: I put my phone on the seat next to me. In the limo.
Jay: so we’re fucked?
Doug: basically yeah
Celia (in the limo): not completely
Ben: what the heck?
Celia: you really should swear more
Mal: what are you doing Celia?
Celia: I’ve come to help. Unless you want to be exposed to the elements
Jay: no thanks
Celia: then get in.
(The teens, with Ben caring Mal bridal style, all pile in the limo and drive off. None of them see the two eels watching them from the water. This is when “wicked always wins” happens)

Chapter 1: Tuesday, May 14th.
[TUESDAY MAY 14 – 10AM]
(Micah Work – Strange Dream)
“I had this really strange dream last night.  I invited all my exes over for dinner.  They got along famously.  They were laughing and dining with one another as though they were old friends, like they’d known each other for years.  And they were all wearing their most remembered outfits.  You know how every person you’ve ever known has that one thing they used to wear and for some reason just sticks in your memory?  It’s like in all of those cartoon TV shows.  They always wear that same thing.  Well anyways, you know what?  Every one of them kept making it a point to complement each other on how good they all looked.  But isn’t that what women do? They always tell each other how fabulous they all look.  Oh I love that outfit it’s so cute!  Well, it would be cute if it wasn’t what she was wearing when we broke up.”
Micah paused momentarily to finish updating one of the open tickets he was typing a response on.
“What’s crazy is that not a single one of them gave me even the slightest glance.  It’s like I wasn’t there at all.  They wouldn’t even give me the time of day!  And when we sat down for dinner, they passed the dishes right over me.  They didn’t even so much as speak a single word about me.  What’s with that?  How can you not even mention me!  It’s my party in my dream!  Instead, they just talked about what was currently going on with their own lives.  Constant compliments and congratulations.  Not a single one of them even so much as looked in my direction the entire time.”
He typed while he talked.
“I woke from the dream at Four Thirty AM.  Four Thirty AM on a Tuesday dreaming of not one ex, but all of them.  I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get much worse than that.”
“Let me ask you something, Micah, what was for dinner?” Tracey flipped a screwdriver around in his hand then looked back down to the laptop he was replacing a failed hard drive on.  He finished unscrewing the last screw and removed the failed hard drive.
“How is that important?” Micah turned back to his computer screen and typed a few more sentences before clicking the mark as complete button.
“It’s not.  But, I’m pretty sure the whole story is pointless.  I’m out of food at home and need some dinner ideas before I go shopping so I figured your little story might help me with my shopping list.”
“You’re a funny guy Tracey boy.” Micah concealed a smirk and closed the ticket tracking program to switch open his browser.  He pointed the address bar to one of the various dating websites he’s tried over the past few years.
Tracey opened the shrink-wrapped package that contained the new hard drive.  Tracey is Micah’s wise guy coworker responsible for nearly every bit of trouble that Micah had ever gotten into at work (and some of the trouble he’d gotten into out of work as well).  Tracey spent most of his time at work wasting the hours online, watching funny videos, chatting with his wife and always complaining about how he needed to lose weight but then would bring free food from around campus back to the office to snack on between his online distractions.
“You know, Micah, maybe you should talk to one of the Psych professors about that dream.  Sounds like you’ve got some issues.”
Micah tossed a look across the room.
“What?!?!  Don’t look at me like that.  I’m just saying!  That’s some messed up stuff.”  Tracey finished snapping the new hard drive into place. “Meanwhile, my only issue is what to make for dinner tonight.  I’ve scoured the campus today and there isn’t a single bit of free grub to be found!”
“I thought your wife makes all the dinners?”  Micah asked.
“She does, but she’s out of town this week visiting her sister and I’m out of dinner ideas.  I’ve already had TV dinner, Chinese, and pizza twice each.  Oh and I walked over to the next door neighbor during their dinner asking if they had a wrench I could borrow to fix a leaky pipe.  I made out like a bandit that night and the next night I actually had a leaky pipe I needed to fix.  So it was good karma all around.”
“Do you even know what karma is?  I’m pretty sure—you know what, never mind.  Anyway, maybe you should just learn to cook?”
Tracey laughed.  “Ha!  Learn to cook.  That’s a good one.”
“So how’d you get out of going to your sister in-law’s?”  Micah scrolled through his list of matches on the dating site.
“Eh, I told her I was allergic to her sister.”
“Why does that answer not surprise me?”
Micah began typing an email to a girl with a main profile picture of herself wearing middle of winter gear lounging poolside in the hot sun sipping on some sort of fruity drink.
The photo caption read:
This is what happens when you take a January trip south to visit a friend in Miami and your luggage gets mixed up with someone bound for Maine.
He typed out a short message to her.  He said something like: ‘So, that’s a pretty funny main pic you have there!  I’d love to hear that story of how your luggage went north when you went south.  Maybe over a cup of coffee sometime?  -Micah’
He closed out the web browser and opened the ticket tracking software to see what the next issue at hand was.
[4:30PM]
(Mom Daughter Phone Call)
“Well dear, why don’t you just try that dating site you had talked about signing up for?”
“No mom.“ Anna paused. “Well, I did already.”  She lied.
“And…”
“Nothing.  It was a waste of time.”
“Awe dear well you will find someone!  Just keep your chin up!”
“More like keep doing chin ups.  No one is going to want me with a body like this.”  Why did she just say that?  She knew it wasn’t true.  She needed to stop thinking those thoughts.
“Oh honey, just you wait—I’ m sure your knight in shining armor will come along.  Or at least that’s what we always tell the young ladies at my new church.  You’re too young to be getting married yet anyways.”
“Mom, I’m 26.  That’s the age of most of the people getting married at the weddings I shoot for. Ugh, I hate when you try to tell me how to control my life.  Listen I have to go ok.  I have over 1200 photos to go through and 3 other shoots that I’m way beyond behind on editing.”
“OK dear well, just remember I’m coming down for a visit next weekend.  Make sure to mark it on your calendar ok.  I can’t wait to see you!  I miss you more than anything in the world.”
“And I miss dad more than anything in the world.”
“You know he misses you too.  Every time you pray he hears you.”
“I know.”  She wiped away a small tear starting to form in the corner of her eye.
There was a long pause.  Over the course of the next minute only the slight sound of breathing could be heard.
“I miss you too mom.  Next weekend will be fun.”
“Are you sure you are okay Anna?”
“Yea I’m just grand.  Anyway, you’re going to a new church?  You’ll have to fill me in on all the details.”
“Well, actually Anna, it’s the same church, we just moved locations temporarily so they could fix some leaky pipes or something like—Oh and your niece is turning two in a few days.  Have you called your sister?  You might want to pick up a little something and send it her way.”
“Yes, mom, I remember.”  She lied again.  She had completely forgotten about that little rug rat.  She would just stop somewhere one day after work this week and pick something up.  Maybe tomorrow, she really had too much work to do tonight with her photo editing.  It was going to be a long night, she meant to start working the photos the night before, but exhaustion had taken over after work and she just spent the whole night in front of the TV.  Weddings take it out of you.  It’s a lot of work photographing a wedding.  The people in the wedding have it easy.
The convo dwindled down as convos generally do between a mom and daughter.  Finally the two devices disconnected.  But the two hearts remained.
Anna started her car, pulled out of the work parking lot and headed home.

Well, Rando update: a niece from a sister's household tested positive, and her little brother (same household) had a sleepover with us. In the likely event things turn south for everyone, thanks for some pleasant convos.
oh no!!!!!! Jesus! You should know, however, that two degrees of separation like that puts you in a somewhat low-risk group. In October my roommates slept over at the home of someone who tested positive the next day, and they did not catch it. So it’s still quite possible that not only did the brother not pass it on to any of you, he may not even have had it himself. Obviously it depends on the contagiousness of the sister and what kind of contact she had with him before he came over, but everybody contracting it isn’t an inevitability.
If you want to talk more easily while still remaining some anonymity, I’m on discord at fameux sexorama#2116 (name is a Balzac reference, long story)

Figure It Out
I’m planning on writing a part 2 to this, which is based off a long and ongoing conversation with my soul-sister @notnaturalanahi - thank you for putting up with me!
Warnings: talk of vagina’s, fingering (not like that), a little fooling around, an awkward convo, unbeta’d, a hint of smut at the end. Characters: YN x Sam, Dean, Mary AN: This gif is my summary:
Tumblr media
“I need to go!” Dean yelled, banging on the bathroom door. “Not like there are eight thousand others!” I countered, glaring at the locked door and waiting for the older Winchester to walk away before resuming my mission.
I took a deep breath and squatted down again, resting my head against the bottom cupboard and reaching between my legs. I let out half a chuckle when I felt the leftover remains of my morning… exercise. I breathed out nice and slow as then slid my index finger between my lips, paying close attention to what I was feeling.
Ridge, walls, wet, was that… no, pelvic bone. It’ll feel like a … could this, is that… maybe? I realized I was a finger deep and still wasn't sure if I had found my cervix. How had I made it to 27 and never felt my cervix before, or noticed if I had. Was it meant to sit forward or back? Is it around the pelvic bone or straight up? I took a deep breath and withdrew my finger, straightening to standing before washing my hands and then pulling my pants up.
“You okay?” Sam asked as I walked through our bedroom door, still deep in thought. I dropped down onto the bed and pulled my laptop off the bedside table. “YNN?” He tried again, nudging my side. “Hmm?” I hummed, turning my attention to him while the screen loaded. “You okay?” He asked again. “Yeah, fine, just… thinking.” I selected the internet browser and opened the tab I had been reading before. “Mary home?” I questioned as an afterthought. “Uhh, she's about to head out.” Sam said, looking over my shoulder at the browser. I shoved the computer off my lap and dashed from the room.
“Mary?” I called out into the bunker. “Where's the fire?” Dean said as I ran past the kitchen. “Why, need to piss on it?” I called back.
“Mary!” I yelled as I heard the slam of the car door in the garage. “What's up?” She said, hopping back out of the car as I ran toward her. “Can I ask you a bit of an odd and personal question?” I was suddenly rethinking my decision to ask her. “Are you okay?” She asked, holding my bicep and looking me over. “Oh yeah, I'm-- it's more a female question.” I explained, watching her closely to see if she was gonna shy away from the topic. “Umm, okay, yeah, shoot.” She said, squaring her shoulders and mentally preparing herself for whatever question I may throw at her. “Okay, so, the cervix… what's it meant to feel like? Cause I ain't feeling no donut nose.” I blurted, better to get it all out than drag it out. Mary’s eyes bugged as she choked, but she shifted from one foot to the other and in a move that was so minute I’m sure I made it up - she bent her knees ever so slightly and her finger twitched as her eyes flirted upwards in thought.
“Okay, so, it should feel firm but wet. It's like if you put oil on the end of your nose, that cartilage feel.” She explained. She as doing a great job at this mother 'daughter’ thing. “Is it past your pubic bone?” I asked, feeling like this was a game of chicken. Each of us would keep talking till the other finally shied away from the topic. “Well, kinda,” she shifted feet again, “It all depends on you. Everyone's different.” She shrugged, giving me a sympathetic expression. “Right, I know that but-- well I suppose I felt it. I'm just… yeah.” It was my turn to shrug, and in a move that was entirely Sam’s, I ran a hand through my hair, scratching at the back of my neck. “What's this about, sweetheart?” “Oh it's silly. I'm investing in a mooncup and you gotta kinda know where your cervix is to know which size you need.” I explained. “A mooncup?” She questioned, eyebrows raised. “Oh, of course,” I said as if I'd forgotten she had been resurrected from the dead a couple of months ago. “It's a silicone cup that you insert, instead of wearing pads or tampons, good for the environment, good for you and good for hunts!” I said with a smile and a nod! “Right, well, if you were finger deep, then you don't need a short one. So I wouldn't worry further!” She said with a laugh, pulling me in for a hug. “Thanks Mary, I appreciate you being so… open!” I wanted to thank her for accepting me as soon as I met her, for treating me like one of her own. “Any time!” She smiled and sunk back down into the driver's seat. I pushed the door closed for her and told her to be safe before she took off.
I plonked back down on the bed next to Sam, pulling my laptop back across my lap. “What was that about?” Sam asked, putting his book down and looking across at me. “Women’s business.” I stated, typing the PO box into the website and then entering one of the credit cards I had memorized. Sam, meanwhile, had begun to trace his hand up my leg, his fingertips brushing the insides of my thigh. “And I can't help?” He asked, leaning into me, pressing a kiss to my shoulder, slowly moving his lips to my neck. “Nope, all figured. I think.” I said, a sense of pride surging through me as I hit purchase. “You sure?” Sam asked, his long fingers pushing at the laptop from underneath, trying to get me to close it. And Sam’s powers of persuasion would only get stronger; so I stowed my laptop and turned my attention to him. He planted a chaste kiss to my lips, one that left me chasing his lips and him chuckling deep in his chest. I pulled back and studied his expression. “You read the page, didn't you?” I asked, Sam was one for study and research, no matter the topic. Always the scholar. “Maybe.” He murmured into my skin. “I can find your cervix for you.” “Sam!” I squealed, pushing his hand away from the button on my shorts. “I know where everything else is!” He chuckled, pinning me to the bed as he rolled on top of me. I couldn't help the smile and wiggle of my hips against his. “Wouldn't be a correct size guide anyway, you're fingers are abnormally long.” I murmured against his kiss as his hand began to wander south again. “You've never complained about my abnormal length before!” He teased, pushing his hips forward and the next thought from my mind.

Boyfriend! Johnny
So I haven’t posted any writing in a while oops
And I do have a scenario in the works (GOT7′s Jinyoung) but I’m having a brain freeze with it right now. Like I know what’s going to happen next but I don’t know how to put it into words. It’s complicated
I still wanted to post something so I’m gonna do these boyfriend! things maybe? I know a lot of writers do them but they’re fun to read
I was originally gonna try something new, like a babysitter! series but idk how it’d work lol
And I also wanna write for other groups too but I don’t know what to. Like I have lots of ideas for scenarios but I’m not sure if they’ll work out
Lol I’m a mess
Anyways, I’m sure y’all are so done with my talk so lets get started
So you met Johnny through an exchange program
Your university had a sister university in South Korea and you decided to take study there for the year
One of the classes you decided to take was photography cause you thought it’d be interesting and fun to do. Like a bit more lighthearted compared to other classes
When you get to class, you’re honestly just really nervous cause you don’t know how to interact with Korean people. You know that they’re just the same as other people, just they speak Korean but you just dunno
So you seat yourself close to the back where you’ve got a nice view of the front of the room and you’re not too far in the back but you’re not in the front as well. WHY DON’T I JUST SAY IT’S IN THE MIDDLE
Nobody approaches you and you’re just too worried about messing up when you speak Korean so you just listen to people’s convos and try to understand what they’re talking about
Cause damn do they talk fast
And Johnny comes walking in and you can just automatically feel his presence
Like the girls start to giggle and whisper to each other and the guys all come to greet him with fist bumps and pats on the back.
You just know he’s one of those guys that everyone loves
And he sits right next to you. You’re just shooketh like whatttttt
“Hey, I’m Johnny! Are you an exchange student here? I heard that we were getting some exchange students in this class that speak English.”
“Um, I... yeah.” You say sort of defeated cause dang you were gonna reply really fluently in Korean but you just forgot every word you’d learned.
“It’s fine, you can speak English with me if you’re more comfortable with that. I’m from America.”
And from then on, you and Johnny sort of just always chatted together. It turned out you guys also have a few other classes together
You’re really happy that you got to know him cause he really helps you with your Korean when you have trouble remembering grammar rules and stuff
After a few months, you guys are really tight
Like #friendshipgoals
Everyone thinks y’all are dating cause you hang out a ton and Johnny likes to make fun of your height difference by resting his arm on your head or just casually slinging his arm on your shoulders
Honestly, you’ve kind of gotten a crush on Johnny. He’s so funny, cute, and nice to everyone that you totally understand why all the guys and girls talk about him
But you try to not think too much about your crush on him cause you’re positive that he only sees you as a super close friend, like #bros4life or something like that
After a long time, you really can’t stand your crush on Johnny anymore
I mean, damn, this dude is hot but innocent and all that... he’s like irresistible
So you’re about to blow from keeping your crush on him secret and you make the big mistake about ranting all about it to Doyoung
Who automatically tells everyone after you finish ranting
And everyone’s plotting how to get y’all together cause they know that Johnny also secretly has a thing for you
They’ve seen the way that he looks so much happier when he’s sitting next to you, or how he slings his arm around you so much more nowadays and laughs so hard when he teases you
And you’re just oblivious to Johnny’s subtle (like literally almost not there, he’s just upping the skinship level the smallest bit) flirting so they decide to give y’all a little helping hand.
One day, Doyoung slyly puts a note on your desk in one of your classes that you guys shared together that says, Can you meet me on the track at 1? - Johnny
Doyoung even freaking copied Johnny’s handwriting perfectly
And then Jaehyun did the same to Johnny, by copying your handwriting.
So the two of you are both confused as heck cause you’re close friends so why would you guys bother to set up a time and place to meet when you always see each other?
But you both meet on the track at 1 and you’re like,
“So, you had something to tell me?”
“No... You’re the one who asked for me to come to the track.”
“What.”
“What.”
And all the guys were hiding behind a bush, watching you two but Yuta couldn’t take it so he legit jumps out of the bushes
Y’all shook
The guys are shook
Yuta is shook by himself
And by then everyone else is like, fuck it, these two are way too oblivious about each other’s feelings to confess
And in the end, the guys are all like “Y/N likes you Johnny!” and “Johnny likes you Y/N!”
“NOW GET TOGETHER.”
And after realizing that you both have feelings for each other, you just sort of become a couple.
Okay, that a super long intro... sorry ‘bout that
So your relationship with Johnny would be really fun
You guys would definitely do some crazy things that Johnny has always wanted to do
Like skydiving
Now that was one crazy adventure
He’d also love to run around in the rain with you
Just because it’s random and fun and exciting
After you guys play in the rain, he’ll run a hot bath with rose petals and rose oil and maybe some Epsom salt just for you
And you’ll always pull him into the bath with you because you feel bad cause you’re sure he’ll catch a cold if he waits outside on the couch with a flimsy little towel wrapped around his shoulders
And it’ll be a really chill bath time
You guys are totally find with seeing each other naked
Although it was slightly awkward the first time you guys did it
“Um.”
“Do you want to take off your clothes first and then get into the bath and then I’ll come in and take off my clothes or...”
“Um.”
But after a few times, it becomes natural for you two
Johnny loves asking you to scrub his back
And he’ll massage your shoulders, your neck, and whatever other tense muscles
It’s just a loving pamper time between the both of you
I think Johnny would be pretty big about skinship
You guys were already casual with skinship when you were friends anyways so he would get straight to holding hands with you
Honestly, he beamed when you made the move to hold hands instead of him for the first time
Backhugs would be a thing with you
Because of your size difference, he loves backhugs so he can rest his head on top of yours and trace circles on your hips lightly
And you’ll just lean back into him
PDA doesn’t go that far, only holding hands, backhugs, and pecks on the cheeks
He loves running his hands over your collarbone or tapping on your collarbone. For some reason, it calms him down.
When you guys are on the couch watching TV or YouTube, he loves to lie down on top of your legs
And you’ll run your fingers through his hair and give him some soothing face massages
You’ll rub circles in his temples and between his eyebrows
Johnny relaxes so much when he’s in your arms
It’s like you just suck all the stress out of him
And if you have a book with you, you’ll read it out loud to him
But even if you don’t, you’ll make up a story or talk about some moments from your past upon his request
If you guys are on the couch and you aren’t in the position mentioned above, then you’re probably cuddling.
Johnny’s couch cuddles with you are usually spooning
He’ll start by gently wrapping his arms around you before totally flopping the both of you on your sides so you’re both in a really comfortable cuddling position
Maybe kiss your ear a bit (he loves to kiss your ear)
And whisper weird puns in your ear
Sometimes tickle fights start
Just saying, you always win
When you’re really stressed out or crying, Johnny peppers your face with light gentle kisses to make you laugh
He’ll just cup your face in his hands and kiss everywhere
As I said before, your PDA really only includes backhugs, cheek kisses, and hand holding but when you two are alone, Johnny tends to like making out with you
He’ll start slowly and passionate, where you can really feel his love for you seeping out of his lips... lmao that sounds weird but you get it, right?
If you guys are feeling it, he’ll turn it up a notch and start getting a bit aggressive and fast, which can lead to a bit of.. well ya know (I’m still smol)
Johnny is definitely a very proud boyfriend and loves to show you off since you can come off as a little shy in certain situations
“Isn’t Y/N so great?”
“If you’re already this impressed then you’ll probably faint later cause she isn’t even showing you all that she’s got. My girl is a special one for sure!”
“Johnny, stop you’re embarrassing me.”
“You don’t need to feel embarrassed! You’re amazing.”
Followed by him ruffling your hair
Whenever you start to doubt yourself, whether it’s about your looks, your capability to do things, or just yourself in general, Johnny is always right in your corner
“You know Y/N, you’re so headstrong and that’s one of the reasons I love you so much. You’re absolutely capable of doing whatever you set your mind on and you should never forget that. I don’t care what other people think about you, because they don’t know you the same as I do. I know that you have one of the biggest hearts in the world, and in my eyes, you’re more beautiful than any of those photo shopped pictures of models, actors, and singers. You need to stop comparing yourself to others and see yourself in the same light that I see you in. Because Y/N, you spread so much light where ever you go and to me, you’re an absolute blessing.”
Damn, those are the words that I honestly wanna tell everyone... And the words that I want to believe but my low self confidence is like, naaaaa
Okay I’m actually feeling so emotional now from writing that paragraph
I need to get back onto the road of happy fluffy things
Like Johnny getting jellyyyy
I’m gonna warn you, Johnny will do a 180 from his usual playful self when he’s jealous
He’ll act overprotective and you’ll notice that he makes his posture better to look taller. As if he needs to look taller, the guy is a freaking tree or something.
When he notices someone hitting on you, he’ll act casual about it for a bit, just to see if the person will understand that you’re not interested in them.
If they’re still trying to get your attention, Johnny will protectively slide his arm around your waist and pull you roughly against him. Sometimes to the point where you end up stumbling into his chest.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Y/N’s more interested in me than you.”
And he’ll lowkey give them a death glare before stalking off with you
“Johnny, don’t be so mean!” *smack on his chest*
“They were trying to hit on you, I was just being a man!”
“Ugh, whatever.”
“You know I love you right?” *peck on cheek*
“Yesssss.” *hug*
When Johnny gets upset about something, he’ll tend to stick to himself and you’ll have to let him spend some alone time to think
You’ll know that he wants some comfort from you if he comes out of his room
He’ll probably want you to hold his hands in yours and look him in the eye and say that everything is fine
And when the two of you get in a fight, Johnny will be a bit stubborn about saying sorry
So he might give you the cold shoulder for bit but he’ll end up running back to you with a bouquet of flowers and a handwritten letter (if it was a big argument) or he’ll buy you your favorite food/candy (if it was a smaller argument)
Johnny would be big on calling you pet names
Not stuff like honey, sweetie, or stuff
But things like my queen (he once said that you reigned over his heart so princess wasn’t right), baby girl, my love (more when he’s teasing you)
For example: “Hellooooo mah love” or “Hey y’all, look! It’s my love!” *runs to you with his arms flailing everywhere* “MY LOVE!” *you run away cause he’s a total embarrassment”
But basically you guys have a total fluffy relationship and he’s the most supportive person ever. He genuinely loves you and is always reminding you that you’re the best thing that’s ever happened in his life
Okay I gotta stop before I add Johnny on my could be bias list and make it even longer.
Yes I have that sort of list
Cause I’m hopeless and can’t figure out which member is my bias

Tired & Inspired - Day One
We pulled up in the tired red rascal to our holiday destination just before midnight on Monday evening in Flushing near Falmouth. My dad was stood outside with a glass of ale half empty dancing at the doorstep just incase we couldn’t identify the location of the house. I’ve been to this holiday house once before when I was about six years old in 1992. Back then we stopped at the (not there now) Little Chef in Gordano. This time though we visited TWENTY TWO Little Chefs en route and covered approx 800 miles. Since arriving on Monday night we have been tired. Very tired. We spent our first day off walking by the Cornish coastal line, sipping beer and sleeping. After a long time sitting in the van extremely sober, listening to long wave radio and too much cricket, digesting all day Olympic breakfasts and slurping take away Little Chef Cappuccinos as we travelled between branches, it now feels really good to be outside digesting beer & salty sea air far away from the A roads. But as relaxing as this is, the Little Chef trail is compelling for reasons we still aren’t sure about. Our musing and amusing mission is taking up lots of conversation with our family in Cornwall as we reflect on previous family holidays driving from North Derbyshire down South, always stopping at a Little Chef en route. My fave thing was the ‘Build Your Own Breakfast’ on the kids menu and the red and white American style diner was a strangely safe place for a fussy vegetarian family of four. I could tailor pick a plate of beige just the way I liked it (and because the journey along A roads towards the motorway in a crammed Citroen car overfilled with travel sweets, arguments, a selection of road maps, a dog, and a bike rack brimming with trikes and body boards as the sounds of my annoying times table cassette tape wafted through the stereo, this meant the holiday had officially started) and also meant the deep fried bread and corrugated lollies before 10am were overlooked and approved. The holiday has begun!
This is the story of how our journey on Sunday 30th & Monday 31st July 2017 has gone so far…
Day One: Sunday 30th July
Owen did most of the driving. I was navigator. When we pulled up to each Little Chef branch we’d both jump out like eager press puppies. Whilst Owen was photographing, I’d take notes on each branch, usually pop inside to purchase something and then get Google Maps on my phone set up to guide us to the next stop. Before we moved on it was my job to update our black board (which was stuck to the back window) with how many Little Chefs we had visited so far.
First Stop : A1 North Newcastle Branch
This was were we ate breakfast and met Debbie. We had quite a lengthy chat with her in-between serving other customers. I’ve paraphrased some of the things she said to us  whilst taking our order & serving Owen’s lucky egg, then making sure we left her branch with plates of information, Little Chef lollies, bright red draw string book bags and fruit of the loom 9-11 year old ‘Little Chef’ branded T’s…
“People don’t wanna pay £15 per head for a meal during a car journey”.
“Most of the sites will be bulldozed down, it’s cheaper to start again”.
“We do better as a sister site. All of the ones joined to Burger King do better”.
When she told us we had better be quick because thirty stand alone stores closed that night she proceeded to speculate. We’ve learnt on this journey that there is no active Little Chef Head office. Owen & I have tried to contact them several times over the last eighteen months, not for financial support but to get up to date information on the last remaining stores and for more facts to fuel our growing fire of intrigue. We’ve left voicemails and emails to sit on answering machines and inside mailboxes ignored and un replied to. Debbie told us that she worked at this branch of Little Chef 15 years ago and again more recently. The branch has changed a lot in the fifteen year gap. She isn’t surprised the Little Chefs are declining and thinks road travel has changed a lot over the years. She expects her branch to become a Greggs or Starbucks and was surprisingly kind of fine with it. She’s heard that there is a sign on the Motorway near London saying ‘Little Chef Opening in 2018’ which is causing a lot of speculation between branches who haven’t been passed on any info apart from that the Little Chef company will close before the year is out and their jobs will change to the new venture whatever it may be. As we sped off hoping catch come of the closing Little Chefs our minds were spinning with questions from our discussion with Debbie; Will Little Chef re-open? Will they re-launch? Is there a princess who lives abroad planning great things with the Little Chef brand? What about Euro Garages? Where will the old time regulars go for their Olympic Breakfasts?
Second Stop : A69 towards Carlisle
This was where I purchased a take away Cappuccino and the staff were bemused. There was one customer inside enjoying a fry up.
Third Stop: A66 Penrith
From the larks of the night before I was thirsty, dehydrated from my coffee and was now craving some fizzy pop so I ran inside the Little Chef (adjoined with a Burger King) and grabbed a Sprite from the Little Chef counter to take away. The lady behind the desk had lovely turquoise hair, was called Cat and was super smiley, friendly and interested to know what we were doing. She asked the same question lots of people have: ‘Why Little Chef?’ and our answer is developing each time from ‘it’s just a photography project’ and ‘why not’ or ‘we’re not really sure ourselves’ to ‘well it’s just a piece of British history isn’t it and someone should document it before it goes’. Cat called through to her manager Keith to tell him what we were doing and the pair were more than happy to pose outside the their branch for a picture. Keith was proud and eager to tell us ‘We’re just as busy as Burger King!’ and I believe him. The staff were lovely, the restaurant was clean and welcoming and you could see the team got along well bringing their own vibe to the place. We were sad to cut the convo short but sped off to our next stop.
Between the drives our ears were popping as Owen noted we were 1000 feet up. It felt like we were flying through mountains.
Fourth Stop: A59 Skipton
Keith told us this branch closed at 2pm but perhaps that was on a week day, for when we arrived it was still open, but pouring with rain. Owen had to take the photo by standing under the canopy of the open van boot and try to avoid the relentless downpour of rain ruining his kit. I was desperate for the loo and ran in to use it. They were grotty and ran down but I still felt obliged to buy something so I ordered us both a tea. We were sad they came in Burger King cups instead of Little Chef ones.
During the drive between Skipton and York the rain continued, cleared, continued, cleared…. as we drove through the winding Yorkshire Moors.
Fifth Stop: A64 York
We started to feel sad we only had five ticked off and enthusiasm was fading. The branch was fresh looking which Owen didn’t like, although I thought it was quite smart, but either way it was still joined to another Burger King. We pulled outside, took a quick snap and our eagerness for going inside to purchase something or anything and chatting with the staff and their speculations was fading, as we began to feel daunted by the task ahead. A lady exercising her dog along the side of the A64 didn’t take her eyes off us as she circled the grass surrounding us. It made us feel weird and as soon as Owen got the picture of the York branch we sped off. Pressured more by the fact we had so many Little Chefs to visit than the staring lady and her tiny hound.
As we drove away our mood lifted as the rain cleared and we constantly seemed to be driving towards two mythical pots of gold at the bottom of a vibrant and clear double rainbow. Something to remind us we were lucky eggs!
Sixth Stop: A1 North Doncaster
This Little Chef looked large but it was probably just the modern style building with glass windows making it feel larger than it was. It had the same new contemporary feel to it as the previous one and it looked busy inside. We quickly took a snap and got back on the trail. It was getting dark.
Seventh Stop: A1 South Worksop
We had to come off the A1 and reverse direction to get into the Little Chef. This is something we had to do quite a lot on the A roads and it was becoming irritating knowing we had to spend minutes driving in the wrong direction to get off and return in the right direction, then quite often turning round after we’d taken the shot to go back on ourselves once more to get to the next destination. As it got later and darker it was getting more and more annoying. Luckily en route to this one we passed the famous(ish) architectural listed roof building that used to be a Little Chef/Travelodge and Owen insisted we pull into a pub car park so he could jump across the fences and through two fields in the pitch black to get a shot of the derelict building which has yet to be turned into a Starbucks of Greggs. I stayed in the van and locked the doors. It was getting late and a little bit of me expected to hear a farmers gunshot. I didn’t of course and Owen returned over the fences with some snaps and was buzzing. Then we went on to the South Worksop branch, which was joined to a Travel Lodge, got a quick photo (it was closed for the evening) and drove onwards…
Eighth Stop: A46 South Lincoln
It was really dark now and starting to rain again. We parked over the top of a puddle. Owen seemed to take ages faffing for the right shot. We could see people sat inside the Little Chef but on closer inspection they were eating Burger King from the adjoining chain and the lights above the Little Chef counter were firmly off. We were both flagging, looking forward to a beer before bed and hoping we could find a roadside hotel with a bar.
Ninth Stop: A17 Sleaford
Another closed for the night Little Chef shot in the dark with our tired sleepy crumpet faces loosing enthusiasm. To add the icing onto our stale cake faces we just discovered there are two more restaurants we hadn’t plotted on our original route and add the two branches onto our map below Grantham. The light is perfect for taking photos. It’s nearly 10.30pm. We need to find a hotel sooner than anticipated.
Tenth Stop: A1 South Grantham
This branch looked great from the outside. Even more great because it was paired with a Travelodge. We took a super quick snap of the Little Chef, then headed into the lodge to book a £45 bed for the night, without breakfast. There was no hotel bar but a Spar Shop in the Shell Garage we hoped would stock beer. Unfortunately it was a dry store ran by a chap called Trevor who wanted to tell us more about his hours of work that week in the Esso/Spar Garage/Shop than our tired ears had the patience to listen to. We made our excuses to leave quickly. Our dinner that night wasn’t at Little Chef but a packet of pretzel pieces, a grab sized bag of pickled onion monster munch, washed down with a mug of typhoo tea with long life milk from the hotel room. Our heads heavily hit the pillows around 11.30pm and just before we fell asleep we laughed and repeated ‘what the bloody hell are we doing?’ and ‘this is ridiculous, what if the Little Chef trail kills us? What a way to go!’
Monday 31st July coming shortly, with twelve more Little Chef stops between Grantham & Cornwall.
