As dads, both Steve and Eddie are total suckers. They're pretty much guaranteed to give in to any and all whims their daughters may have. They will also, however, make them work for it, which is usually facilitated by Steve (and serves as prime entertainment for Eddie, who has adored watching Steve try to hold his own against smart-ass teenagers since they were teenagers themselves)
This is why Eddie is absolutely delighted when he walks into the kitchen to see that Steve is on the phone with their middle-daughter Robbie.
“Robbie,” Steve says, cutting himself off with a long sigh, “Just tell me why I’m sending you seventy-five dollars.”
With a grin, Eddie settles in at the counter. Steve rolls his eyes, pointing at the phone as if to say get a load of this.
Then his eyebrows fly up.
“You need seventy-five dollars to go get your nails done? What, are they gonna take your midterms for you too?”
She isn't on speaker so Eddie doesn't catch Robbie's exact response to this, but whatever she says is loud enough that he can hear her voice coming through the phone.
"Amelia Robin," Steve cuts her off, "I will think about it. It's time for you to start thinking about getting a job"
Robbie must make one last desperate attempt because Steve says, "Goodbye, my darling girl who only calls when she wants something."
Steve hangs up and immediately points at Eddie as if this has something to do with him.
"Sinclair's boys don't put him through shit like this," he says, "I asked. All they ever want from him is food and Xbox subscriptions."
"Must be nice."
"Remember when the only time she asked for money was for the Scholastic book fair?” Steve asks, “Damn, I miss those days.”
"You're still gonna send her the money, though."
With a resigned sigh, Steve says, "Yeah."

my brother just struggled to use two six-foot bamboo poles like chopsticks to pick up cat toys and play with our youngest cat, and then as he set the bamboo back down he chuckled softly and said "ahhh... i really just wasted those five minutes. i'm gonna be late for work" and ran straight out to the garage

kind of a dumb headcanon BUT i think whenever lance actually has some spare time (arceus knows he rarely has any of that) whenever he's not out and about with one of his Various Kids (kanto trio and johto quartet), i think he likes to knit. Specifically so that he can make stuff for the baby dratini in the dragon's den for the winter + stuff like hats and scarves for his own pokemon team. clair does the nearly the Exact Same Thing (crotcheting instead though), however, unlike lance, who would likely be calm about it being discovered (especially since silver would be the most likely to discover it since dad lance is real in my heart), clair would just Drop Kick the discoverer into oblivion (also likely silver. this time because it's funny)

Hey y'all! Do you think a six year old who likes to draw would like one of those fabric roll-up colored pencil/marker/crayon organizers?
#I never used one growing up#but I also had several siblings and art supplies were communal when we were little#once I got old enough to have my own art supplies#my organizational strategy is like...drawer#this is the Drawing Drawer#and I have a pouch in the drawer for holding specifically sketching pencils#and the rest is filled with a bunch of colored pencils and pens and markers in no order whatsoever#rescued from my older siblings' art supply destashes#my niece might appreciate being more organized though?

#oc txt.#c: hattie#c: mary ellen#hattie being able to make it back to her own vault just in time to be with her mom in her final moments is 🤕#she’s not the overconfident self assured put together person she was when she left however long ago it was#and her mother isn’t the hyper independent stoic emotionally constipated woman that didn’t even hug her before she left#her mother really did believe that this colony that had supposedly been growing since she was a girl WAS her kids’ only hope at a future#they knew for years that the vault was running out of supplies and falling apart#she was getting older and really didn’t think a future above ground was for her or her husband or the other adults that had grown up there#it was for their kids.#bc the vault wasn’t going to be able to sustain them for much longer#it’s why she pushed her kids so hard and pushed them away even harder#bc it made sending them into that world ‘easier’#she wouldn’t miss them as much and they wouldn’t miss her#sending her twins up there (her first borns) years prior was HELL#and she dreaded the day hattie was old enough to be thrust out there and even debated whether or not she’d even go through with it#so seeing her now … especially in the state hattie is in when she returns#she feels guilty but at the same time proud? because despite it she knows hattie had and HAS what it takes to survive up there#and seeing tj??? she doesn’t know if the twins made it to the colony or whether the colony was even real operating ect ect#so she’d never get to see them with her grandkids if they had any#she at least gets a slice of what could have been if things were different#it’s good that hattie gets to tell her truth of everything#it’s good that hattie gets to reconcile and be the last thing she sees before she passes#it’s all mary ellen ever wanted … to see her girls again#and in her mind if hattie made it … then she knows the other two did too#and i think for hattie she was just on the cusp of giving up and throwing in the towel#but she’s got people relying on her and she’s not a quitter … was never allowed to be#and i think by now she’d be searching for them less for herself and more for her parents#the least she can do is find out if their sacrifices (and the sacrifices of everyone else) were warranted

I have a varied and often interesting workday. Like today, for example, I led our 6 am teams call and then put on my rain gear, gloved up, and helped my team butcher crab that were returned from a customer. Then, after changing out of said gear and working on inventory and account reconciliations, our new CFO paid us a visit and we showed him the place. He is coo and totally engaged, but for the fun bits: Part of the tour was going to our (not up and running yet) 2nd shrimp production facility, which took me right by a printer I asked our tech team to set up for the new production document flow. And the tour just conveniently sauntered by the same printer where I sent this test page a few days ago, and forgot about it until we were walking by with said new CFO. It reads...
Of course, I folded it up rapidly and shoved it in my pocket. But somewhere, if the inspiration for this page knew, I'm sure this would be his reaction...
