Damp shade. Anemone japonica and the tender Aspidistra elatior make up a summer grouping with a stone birdbath against a background of Hedera sp. The green ground cover plant is Helxine sp., which not only tolerates but requires dampness.

TRAMS CAN GO ON GRASS. Or grass can go on tram tracks? Unclear. But grass and trams can coexist LOOK:
You could probably put another groundcover on there, too. Like clover or moss or whatever happens to be native and also short enough.

Since I'm feeling blue I figured Evolvulus Blue My Mind would be the perfect plant to post. It's been hard these past few years. I can't give up now even though it would be so much easier.

Mulch Retains Moisture And Insulates
Mulch Retains Moisture And Insulates
Mulch helps to insulate the soil.
Nature is smart. It should be. It has been operating efficiently since the beginning of time. That is certainly longer than anyone has been gardening in defiance of nature. Imported plants that need unnatural watering and soil amendment continue to benefit from nature. Some assets, such as weather, are direct from nature. Some, such as mulch, are…

||•Spring Strawberry Salad My favorite thing about warm weather is all the delicious produce! The berries are sweeter, the melon juicier, and all the wonderful vegetables carry a flavor that only the warmth from the Sun could bring. As we are ending the strawberry season I wanted to create a salad that held true to the season. I paired the strawberries with freshly picked butter lettuce, baby spinach, and chunks of Gorgonzola cheese. A big hit at the dinner table! . . . . . . #food #tableware #ingredient #plant #recipe #gardensalad #salad #cuisine #leafvegetable #dish #dishware #plate #vegetable #produce #groundcover #finesherbes #superfood #blackownedbusiness #staplefood #comfortfood #meat #cooking #naturalfoods #vegannutrition #herb #fingerfood #garnish #àlacartefood #privatechef #lovejekeisha (at Columbia, South Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdbwcQkOe8G/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Not only are these a delicious groundcover, they support 70+ species of butterflies and moths!!!! Many of which can't breed on any other plant!

Plant of the Day
Saturday 24 December 2022
The hardy, creeping fern Adiantum venustum (evergreen maidenhair) forms a dense groundcover with a moist soil. It turns a rusty-brown in autumn and winter but can be almost evergreen in mild areas.

More Spring flowers.
Daffodils gets their close up.
The groundcover finally starts to spread in year 3.
Tulip or hosta? I don't recall having white-striped tulips last year but I planted some stuff last fall and given the location it could be either.
More potential surprises. Could be daffodils. Could be crab grass.
Also noted many buds on the tulips this week. They were on bloom hiatus last year.
