Thinking abt body horror as romantic. Body horror as intimate recognition of the self and the other and the other as the self. Body horror as an encounter with the divine.

Now this is the weird cartoon I'd watch.
There would be some very questionable humor, screaming (and i kinda really miss Hunter's screeches from the second season. He was GREAT while raising his voice, no matter what anybody can say about it being annoying), grotesque episode scenarios, cool uniforms and much else!

The hardest part about dating a zombie mutant is making them behave so you both don't get killed by other humans that are unaware some zombies are actually friendly.
Destiny tries hard but Zeke tries harder and refuses to behave without some compensation in return.
For some short story context, Zeke is a mutant zombie who isn't quite alive but isn't quite dead either and Destiny is a human.
They are trying to survive in a post apocalypse world. It's kinda like an alternate timeline to my normal universe…but zombies happened at some point.

the worst take i have ever seen is when someone on here said that basically anything horror related is just goreporn and theres no reason for things like that to be in art and, worst of all, people are bad if they enjoy things like that. like idk how else to tell you this, but disregarding an entire genre of storytelling just bc you think its icky is the antithesis of art imo. im sorry not every story follows a disney formula so its easier for you to grasp the main point:( must be rough

internet content brainrot im all consumed by sickly satisfying videos of girls with long acrylic nails and sleeves half covering their disembodied hands silently arranging plastic bins and shelves and boxes neatly in pantries and drawers and laundry rooms. a clinically clean corner of a house full of neat rows of items in every color offered, backups of backups of backups that will never get used because they weren't purchased for a purpose only for strangers to look at for sixty seconds then scroll on to the next video of the next girl with long acrylic nails, blue tipped this time, sisyphysian, always restocking. resetting. refilling items that never get used

Vibrating because you've posted both asks about Yan Mika when I've been in class and then I forgot to read but hhhhhhhhh god I cannot wait to read (I've been so busy couldn't even read last one ;-;) I just skimmed them kaksjd
"this gave me shivers because I saw myself in it" hehehe yeah I did it because of it >:) because I couldn't help but think about it while reading a few of the other Yan Mika asks... Because well... I also enjoy that kind of thing, like you do, so I couldn't help but think how in trouble we would be if that situation were to happen to someone like us. It's terrifying and revolting and I love thinking about it in a way I know where it won't happen kasmdkdkdlsodk
HDBDBDJDJ lmfao sorry <3 but it's okay, you can read them whenever you want to ♡
The usual disclaimer that yandere is horror to me and I don't want to romanticise it and under the cut for the topic, though this is short enough :>
And RIGHT. It'd be like "oh thank goodness, finally someone i can talk to ab this sort of stuff in a normal way" and then it turns out he's actually a freak. <3 it really would be scary because it'd take a long time to realise something is Off about him, and by then you're more likely to excuse him by going "oh, but I know him, he's a good guy, he wouldn't do xyz" or if you, God help you, develop a crush on him - you know how they say, red flags don't really stick out when everything is pink in your rose-tinted glasses. And there's the aspect of having your defenses down around him because you see him as a friend, someone you can trust, and just... even if you don't necessarily see him as a freak for the eroguro (or excuse it as "well, it's a harmless fantasy, he knows it's inappropriate and bad irl"), he's still the delusional type who thinks it's fine to bring that dynamic to the real world. Which doesn't bode well for the person he's obsessing over.
Also, I feel like mentioning this, he has a duller sense of pain which means he likely doesn't realise just how much certain actions hurt. So, asides from having a naive sense of how the body works and what things a human can survive/walk off, he will. Inflict a lot more pain than he thinks, and he will ask for a lot more extreme actions in order to feel more pain himself. It's dangerous from every side.
I don't know, I think a relationship with yandere (gore-obsessed) Mika can only end in the darling moving far, far away or one of them ending up dead.

i literally have no interest in reading speculative fiction written by like non marginalised people ngl like thats a totally different genre to me i hate the epic fantasy trend so much. its interesting how i know a lot of women who only read lit fic + fantasy and nothing else and almost all the people toeing the line between fantasy and lit fic are women/marginalised. such a difference when people are using speculative fiction as an explorative tool vs when theyre just like woah .. swords and dragons and sexy elf ladies.. but i want speculative fiction that isnt self conscious of its speculative elements i kind of hate magical realism too i just dont think white nerd guys get hte point of spec fic.
they should be allowed to have fun im not saying pure fun genre fiction is bad at all but i hate how theyve literally defined the genre at this point and set the standards of what it should be and now people literally think that soft magic systems are bad and having 800 POVs and 900 pages of worldbuilding are like essentials. i see fantasy writing advice telling people that they need to work out like what commodities are being traded by each country and then also that your theme should just be you saying ‘love always wins out’ or ‘power corrupts’ or whatever and its sooo generic literally thats one very specific style of writing but the whole fun of speculative elements is u can explore ambiguities and paradoxes like you should be encouraging your reader to ask and answer their own questions too idk .. bring back ambiguity i miss her so much

Re: Cinderella. "Doing it straight with a bad attitude." THIS. Thiiiiiis. Nails the problem and really specifically my beef with recent Cinderella plots/retellings. Like the beats are reproduced so faithfully while sneering that we should find this problematic and embarrassing and it's only okay if it's insincere. Also writing Cinderella with the unkind and contemptuous "I hope I have upset you" ugly stepsister personality without even realising. Just praying this never happens to the BATB plot.
I have read some very perfunctory, uninspiring B&tB retellings, but yeah I don't think I've ever come across one that goes through the motions while sneering at the entire concept in the way which has happened to Cinderella. It's more that they add weird and unnecessary meta-apologia for certain elements of the story, as if embarrassed by them or anticipating they will be attacked, while coming from a basically sincere place.
People sneering at B&tB are still writing full 'subversions' (actually just a regressive narrative) where he's revealed as only a literal or figurative monster and either Belle herself or the reader is punished for expecting otherwise. Compassion is a weakness, hope is naïve, etc.

musical desire i've been quietly turning around in my head for years but have never seen fulfilled: an underground indie pop or indie rock-or-prog-rock-or-whatever-the-fuck band attempting to make a genuine cover of this song where they turn it into an egregore of rough guitar and scream-singing filled with emotion - "I AM THE VERY MODEL OF A MODERN MAJOR GEENEERRAAAALLL" delivered to a backing guitar solo that sounds like king crimson if you suddenly injected them with epinephrine. that, or i held the vague desire of covering it myself. though i am highly doubtful of both my delivery & range
