#THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN TRAGEDY AND THE BONDS WE FORM AND CHAINSAWS !!!!#classic tragedies were made to foster sympathy and understanding even for people who have done unforgivable things#by calling attention to their horrific circumstances and their inescapable pride and grief and love and hate that will not die#while also making clever use of comedy and absurd moments to remind the audience that we are all just as insane as the#person whose life were watching fall apart in front of us and that we can continue living despite that#slasher films are literally built upon the foundation that the grotesque IS inherently human and entertaining despite being so disgusting#and slasher inspired media (like csm) are able to explore that idea while also including more traditional character arcs and plot structures#so yes slashers are tragedies but in a funny way and csm is tragedy because it cares so little about conforming to any genre or structured#expectations. which allows it to constantly shake the viewers attention and combine a million unrelated threads under a single core theme of#individual autonomy and the importance of connection. which the oldest tragedies known to man also did. both of them do it in weird ass ways#🌸.txt#if yall are not brushed up on the mel paeonies lore im in an intro to eng class which is themed around tragedy and the final presentation is#essentially describing what makes a contemporary piece of media a tragedy
