Reading Age of War by Michael J Sullivan. (SPOILERS)

Already finished Riyria Revelations,midway through Chronicles.

Now, interesting aspect of Age of the first Empire series is that it's all the huge backdrop for Riyria. Events that happen atleast 3 millenia later, if Mauwinndule is to believe ( and I don't believe that asshole one bit).

Me personally, am only here for Persephone and Nyphron. And all the mayhem they initiated.

And my personal favourite part as a writer and an avid reader is that they are not at all what history made them out to be. Like noppity nope not at all. And that is perfectly fine.

Nyphron ain't the great leader who saw injustice and took up arms against overwhelming odds to fight the Elven Magic. Uhh-huh..

And Persephone, though smart and capable, is still just human enough to make mistakes and gamble with the lives of many.

The great romance that brought the Fhrey Empire to its knees is a lie. How wonderful..

And the abundance of unsung heroes. Techlor, Suri, Raithe, Brin, Roan, Grifford and Minna. Oh darling Minna. Who will all remain forgotten.

(there is some merit in writing the whole series before publishing, I guess)

Ps. Forgive the spelling of names. I listened to the books on audible and I am not sure of the spellings .

congrats on the milestone! This is awesome and your stuff is awesome to read too!

"Hey Grunkle Stan? Does Grunkle Ford like to fly?" Mabel asked, tugging Stan's arm towards the owl griffin lazing around in the yard, "I don't think I've ever seen him fly since we got here!"

"Sure he does sweetheart, he just doesn't get the chance to very often. He has to be secret about it..." Stan replied, an idea forming in his mind, "I usually take him to the lake at night to fly. I'm sure I could bring you and Dipper along tonight if you really want."

"Really?! Thanks Grunkle Stan!" Mabel giggled as she reached Ford's position. Ford had heard everything, but didn't seem upset. In fact, he looked excited to take his little niblings along on one of his night flights. Ford nuzzled Mabel softly as she stroked his feathers.

That night, Stan woke the twins up from their sleep and snuck out with them in tow. Ford was already at the lake, waiting for their arrival, his grey feathers glistening in the moonlight. The twins stood by him and without warning Ford grabbed Dipper by his vest with his beak and gently plopped him onto his back. He did the same with Mabel's and her sweater.

Stan hopped up of his own volition, not needing any assistance. Stan firmly told them to hang on as Ford went out with a sprint towards the lake. Dipper and Mabel gripped Ford's body tightly and shrieked as Ford unfurled his wings and took off just before he would've fallen into the lake.

"It's okay to open your eyes now, kids." Stan nudged them when Ford's flight had leveled out. Dipper opened his eyes to see the lake rushing past, the stars glittering in the sky, and the reflection of them riding Ford in the surface of the water. It was beautiful. Ford's wings rhythmically flapping underneath them felt strangely comforting.

Suddenly Ford ascended, startling Stan and the kids. They only just hung on by sheer will. It was worth it when the view opened up to show the entire Gravity Falls valley, small lights from town lighting up the otherwise dark area. It was then that the sky opened up and a meteor shower lit up the sky.

"Whoa, that's so cool!" Dipper exclaimed in awe at the pinpricks of light streaking through the sky. Ford hooted agreement, watching them along with his passengers. Not very long after, the shower ended, and everyone felt the need to go home.

"Time to go home Poindexter." Stan stated sleepily, patting Ford's back. Ford nodded and descended in the direction of the shoreline. Once on the ground, the twins gave Ford the largest hug they could possibly give an owl griffin of that size and got safely taken down by Ford the same way they got up.

"Thank you Grunkle Ford, for that amazing ride!" Mabel expressed, hugging Ford once again from the ground. This had been an experience they would never forget. Stan and the twins walked back home with Ford feeling grateful he'd been able to provide such a neat ride.

“The cubs, a male and a female, were born to female Amur leopard Tria and male leopard Rafferty, both age 2, at 3:19 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, Zoo Director Ted Fox said. A third cub, an undersized female, was born at 6:30 a.m. but did not survive.

The zoo’s animal care team has been observing the cubs via closed-circuit camera with minimal intervention to allow Tria to care for them undisturbed, and she has proven to be a great mom, Fox said. Veterinary staff were able to administer the cubs’ 6-week vaccinations Wednesday and perform a brief checkup. The male weighed in at 2.83 kg, or 6.2 pounds, and the female weighs 2.56 kg. or 5.6 pounds.”

My Godchild Secret Santa giftee this year was @gilasaurus !

They requested a picture of the Coffinmaker from chapter three. I always had a soft spot for Grifford, and I gladly gave a shot at drawing him. Something a bit more serious in tone was requested, and I was kind of inspired by the fairy tale "The Little Matchgirl" by Hans Christian Andersen.

I am so sorry for the delay - I had to stay in bed for a few days because the flu got me, and then family stress got me...I hope you like it nonetheless. Happy holidays!

So does GrifFord age at the same rate a human does? Or a little differently?

Hi @owlfacenightkit thanks for asking!

He ages at the same rate as a human would. When he was first transformed, he had brown coloured feathers.

This is an old sketch but these are his basic and first colours.

As he gets older his feathers turned grey and white.

like here with Mabel.

Despite slowly-partially loosing his mind, he still remembers him and Stan’s birthday (even if he doesn’t remember his age) and gives Stan his most beautiful feather as a gift.
