Is Nathan from the gym club is the prototype of Nathaniel from Miraculous?
Who is the prototype of Nathaniel Kurtzberg?
Probably not, they have completely different character designs and roles in the story (Nathan was most likely the deuteragonist whilst Nathaniel is just a supporting character). Interestingly though, the Miraculous wiki says that Nathaniel's crush on Marinette could be inspired by the earlier Gorgeous Nathan character, though this is a bit of a stretch imo.
There doesn't seem to be a prototype Nathaniel character? He was always just Nathaniel. But according to the 2014 bible, his personality was like this:
A dreamer who keeps himself to himself and spends almost his whole time drawing –
and he’s good at it, too!
He’s chubby. He’s constantly apologizing, as if he thinks his mere presence is a
nuisance to others when, in fact, nobody really pays him any attention. He’s the one
who always get left behind by the school bus, on field trips!
He pretends not to give a damn about anything (when, in fact, he does); that’s just
his way of behaving. No matter what stroke of bad luck comes his way, he puts on a
brave face, a kind of “don’t care” attitude. Even if he were to go plummeting down the
stairs, hitting every step on the way, he’d simply stand up and say, “Whatever!” as if
unscathed.
A magnet for bad luck, Nathanael is ‘lucky’ enough to get akumatized several times
(The Drawer, Invisible Man)!
He’s in love with Marinette.
His relationship with the rest of the class:
In love with Marinette. Not bothered about the other kids.
His early design looked like this:

Can you draw redraw with this cuties!?
https://at.tumblr.com/sashamoon19/704241433319784448/99wl4qlai8a5
This concept art features Gorgeous Nathan from the gym club (AKA Pre Felix) and Marietta (Or Marinette)!
You have very nice drawings,I like it,Dude!!Very beautiful and creativity.Your drawings are just a masterpiece!!!
Firstly, I must thank you for helping me identify that the dude in this concept is Gorgeous Nathan. I always thought he couldn't be Felix because he seemed different, and it's not just because of the outfit, though that's a heavy reason. I never thought about it being Gorgeous Nathan but that does make the most sense. Also, I must say I very much appreciate you referring to him by his full title. Beautiful. We always appreciate Gorgeous Nathan from the Gym Club. (I will bully this man relentlessly for this title, I swear). For those who don't like using links that they can't be sure where they lead, this is the image anon is talking about:
Tumblr media
Anyway, I'm not sure if you were actually asking me to draw them separately or redraw this image. I went with redrawing it. I do have this image and I very much love it more compared to the final product. So I decided to redraw it based on what ended up being the final product and on this sketch version. The final product involves the weird combination of Marinette and "Bridgette" and Felix. There was not much else in the scene besides two people and a car and while I liked the focus on Felix and "Bri" it looked so barren and lifeless somehow compared to all other concept images. That isn't to say the art is bad, of course. The art was very, very good. It just didn't have quite the same life I loved about the other concepts so it's one of my least favorites. Here's them compared side by side:
Tumblr media
I quite liked the sketch because of life it had and I wanted to somehow mimic that without people so I decided to add a lot more plant life and hopefully bring more "energy" you could say. I'm not sure I did it justice. I also did some very sloppy coloring because I thought it would be fun. I don't really love the outfit Marietta have so I did my best with what I was provided. That's one of the things I preferred about the final image. I will say I couldn't help myself and added Marietta's necklace even though this isn't quite the Marietta we know because she seemed to have the more Marinette-like bangs.
But here it is... I did my best. I much prefer the original products myself but this was fun. I recommend clicking on it. This image is big so Tumblr makes it look worse. XD
Tumblr media
I really had to deconstruct this image. I went through tracing the very basic shapes of it to get the basic idea of the energy then I went to making my own building blocks so I could draw my own style over top of that then it was redrawing it all over again and so forth and so on... I basically drew this image multiple times. Can't say I'm all that thrilled with this one. I actually don't quite like it. But I do try to be honest about my art journey. I am one of those artists who believes it's the fun that's important and I had a whole lot of fun making it. Except Gorgeous Nathan's head. That wasn't fun. Very unfun. You think I would hate his hands but no it was his freaking head. Ironic since that's the stuff I draw the most; heads and faces. I hope you at least like it, even just a little bit. Maybe one day I can draw them again without trying to measure up to someone else's work, I suppose. That's probably what threw me off a lot, that I really wanted to do it justice even though I knew this would be a very simple drawing. Thanks for the request! It was very fun to draw this version of the characters! I also very much like the story this one tells! Also anon, I gotta ask... are you the same anon sending me all the wonderful asks in my inbox? I, of course, appreciate them but it did get me curious! I hope you're having a wonderful day, afternoon, evening, night, or whatever time it is where you are! <3

A little late, but here is my fic for the Marithan Marathon March event! Chapter one (Prompt: Race) is officially up!
Nathan is a Sphinx, not an Agreste. Gabriel might have raised him, taken him in, protected him, but Nathan will never accept Gabriel as his father. Adrien and Felix aren't really his brothers either, just the kids his mom told him to take care of. For the sake of her memory, he'll do just that.
By any means necessary.
Plagg, Ladybug, Nathan himself- they might all hate him. They might curse his name and wish he were dead. They might do everything in their power to make his life harder than it ever needed to be. That won't stop him.
But maybe, in the end, he was just trying to do the right thing in all the wrong ways.

I kinda want gorgeous Nathan from the gym to show up in season 6. Like he doesn't even need to do anything that has a significant impact on the story. I just think it would be funny to see Nathan, Felix, and Adrien get stuck in a room together and interact.

New Rider (fanfic)
Just a short one shot for my pre-canon friends. Nathan from Gym club makes a new acquaintance while waiting for Marinette to show up for their date. Link to AO3 in profile, text under the cut.
Nathan was actually early when he pulled up and killed his motorcycle. He pulled off his helmet and immediately ran a comb back through his hair before looking around. Marinette was nowhere to be seen. There was just some bookish little ginger sitting on the bench Marinette had said to meet her at.
Nathan took his time stripping off his gloves. He stuffed them into the pocket of his bomber just so. Another scan, still no Marinette. He got off his bike and leaned on it, arms crossed, then uncrossed. He pulled out his aviators and put them on, then took them off and hooked them in the collar of his bomber. Satisfied, he waited several more minutes in that pose before standing up and pacing.
His bored wanderings took him to the bench eventually. "Hey, four eyes, mind if I sit?"
She was a tiny little thing, straight shoulder length hair held back from her face in a headband, brown glasses, and an actual sweater vest in the summer.  She blinked at him with big aqua eyes through her thick lenses. "Um, okay…"
Nathan flashed her his best smile on principle. She just ducked her head back down and returned to reading. Nathan craned out of curiosity. It was a comic book, but like an actual book, way too thick and all in black and white.
Nathan watched her turn a page. There was tons of writing too. He made conversation, "I didn't know they made nerd comics."
She looked up again, covering the pages with her hands. "It's manga," She said in a voice almost too soft to hear.
Nathan tilted his head, reaching down to peel one of her tiny hands away and look at the page again.. "I never heard of him. Is he one of those heroes in the US? Not as cool as Ladybug, I'm sure."
The girl blinked at him again. She took her hand back and fidgeted. "No, not exactly…"
Nathan grimaced and checked the time again. Then dove back in. "I'm Nathan, what's your name?"
"Sa-Sabrina?"
He flashed another 200w smile. "What, you're not sure?"
She swallowed, fidgeted with her book, then nodded. "It's Sabrina."
Nathan stretched his arms across the back of the bench. Sabrina was curled too far forward for the stealth-hug, but his bomber highlighted his broad chest even more in this pose. "Soooo… the person I was supposed to meet is late. You like motorcycles?"
She perked, her whole body straightening up, not that there was much of her to add height to. "They're kinda neat," she conceded.
Nathan glanced back at his new mount. "You wanna check one out?"
She glanced over, then in a sudden flurry of contained motion her book was away, her bag zipped up, and she stood, holding it by the handles in front of her and bouncing on her toes.
Nathan didn't roll his eyes while she was looking, but it was definitely a case of nerd squared. Something to pass the time.
He levered himself up from the bench, checked the time again, then sauntered to his bike over with his diminutive shadow in tow. He hopped on, and shifted his weight, lifting it off the stand. "Ducati, Five fifty cc, not even a hundred K on her yet."
Sabrina was looking it over with undisguised curiosity. "It's red, like Ladybug."
Nathan beamed. "Noticed that, did you? She's a sleek beauty. It seemed right. Listen to her sing."
He opened her up and pressed the ignition.
Nothing.
Nathan frowned and rechecked everything then hit the ignition again.
Nothing.
A flush of embarrassment crept up from his neck. As he tried a third time. "I don't know what's…"
Still nothing. Frustration spurred him to try again, rough where before he had been delicate. He almost missed the peeping voice, "Can I look?"
He shot her a sharp look which made her wilt. That reaction snapped him out of the moment. He couldn't lose his cool in front of some nerd, or be all flustered when his date showed up - he scanned the park again. "Yeah, sure."
He hopped off the bike, bleeding off some of his anger through motion.
Sabrina set down her bag and scrambled up onto the motorcycle. She began toggling switches, and both the shift and clutch. When she flicked the lights on and off several times Nathan asked, "What're you-"
A small but matter-of-fact tone interrupted him. "The clutch seems fine, your electrical is in working order. It's not even trying to turn over though."
She wibbled and flopped back off the bike, digging in her bag. He gaped when she pulled out a small hard case toolkit. He was still so stunned when she immediately went after the spark plugs that he missed a prime opportunity to show off his strength.
Instead of getting to flex, he instead watched her throw her meager bodyweight into the torque wrench to pop them off. Her hands took a bath in petrol but she kept right on working, holding each of the four plugs up for scrutiny.
Nathan was so entranced he jumped when she announced, "got it!"
She began rubbing the end of the plug mercilessly with her cuff.
While she worked, she chattered on. "Some of these high end models are so picky. They only fire off the other cylinders if they ignite in order. One messed up plug and nothing. This lead is dirty, it looks like impurities. You said less than a hundred K? Still your first tank then, right? I bet the dealer used cheapo stuff to fill it up."
She was already into reassembly by the time her spiel was over. This time Nathan didn't miss his chance. He shrugged off his coat, down to his t-shirt. "Here, let me get that."
He cranked the plugs back in tight, one handed, being sure to turn so he could show off his bicep on the pull. The little grease monkey watched, enrapt.
When he stood up she scrambled back onto the bike without asking. She went through startup again, cranking it an extra time to make up for the spilled fuel. One slender thumb poked the ignition and the Ducati purred to life. Sabrina clapped her hands happily, bouncing on the seat.
Nathan figured she had been holding out on him. “So, you ride?”
She instantly ducked, shaking her head. “Oh no. My dad has one for work. He doesn’t know how to do anything with mechanical stuff, or electronics, or repairs, or painting, or-” she blushed and added hastily, “he’s a good police officer!”
Nathan laughed as Sabrina tried to melt into the bike’s seat with a tomato blush. In a surge of kindness, he offered a distraction. “Well, give it a go. C’mon, let’s see you.”
Nathan kicked the stand up and turned the handlebars to clear the parking space. Sabrina yelped and reached for them in a panic. Nathan gave the whole bike a shove to get her going.
Sadly her “no no no no waaaiitt!” came too late.
Sabrina had no control over the bike at all. Her 40kg self struggled against the engine, waffling inexpertly between gunning it to keep from falling and cutting it to try and avoid hitting anything. She got the bike turned around more by accident than design, but in doing so slipped, almost falling off. Her grip gunned the engine again, sending her careening out of control.
Nathan saw the accident in-the-making. People had already scattered. She was coming right at him. She was bouncing right off the seat. In the moment he stared down his own bike, juking aside just at the last second to catch Sabrina as she flew free. He turned and tucked, rolling with her as the bike jumped the curb and skidded to a halt on its side in the grass behind him.
She was panting and sniffling. He was panting. His blood was pounding in his ears. He remembered the important first thing to ask. “You okay?”
Sabrina uncurled from his chest, blinking over towards where the bike lay before looking up at him. “You saved me.”
It took another moment for it to click. Nathan sat up and grinned. “I did, didn’t I?”
Sabrina pushed herself up, wiping her eyes and letting out a shaky sigh before smiling too. “Yeah, like a real hero.”
Nathan swelled with pride. He stood and reached down, offering a hand up like heroes were supposed to. “It was my pleasure.”
Sabrina got up with his help, glancing worriedly over to the grass again. “But your bike…”
Nathan shrugged, heroes were big about things. “Now it’s got character, and no one can say I was the one who messed it up.”
Sabrina blushed again and shuffled her feet.
Nathan coughed. “I’d better go get it.”
She nodded.
Nathan went to survey the damage and found he was incredibly lucky. There was paint-wear and grass stains along one side, with a few scratches from where it hit the sidewalk as well as turf, but everything looked in order.  He wheeled it around, walking it back out to the parking spaces.
Sabrina had been collecting her tools and was all packed up by the time he got back. Her brows were still knit in worry so he hopped on, flashed her another carefree smile, then started it back up without any problems. “See? Works like a charm.”
She let out a huge sigh, one oily hand pressed to her chest. “I’m so glad.”
Nathan chewed on a thought, which wasn’t normal, but he gave it a whirl. Reaching back into the ‘saddlebag’, he pulled out his spare helmet. “Want to go for a ride?”
Sabrina goggled again. “Really?”
Nathan lifted his chin, and gave her a classic charmer smile. “Sure, you’re cool, for a nerd.”
Soon she was arranged behind him in a too-large helmet, her bag stowed where the helmet had been. Nathan was just about to set out when he heard his name from a familiar pair of powerful lungs.
“Nathaaaan! Nathaaann! Nathaaaan, I’m hereeeeeee!”
Marinette came running up at a full sprint. She bent over as soon as she stopped, gasping. “Uncle’s… Grandpa’s… Bakery…exploded… Sorry… late….”
Nathan waited for her to catch her breath. She looked up and her head swiveled between Nathan and Sabrina behind him. Nathan shook his head. “I got someplace to be, Nettie. I hear my little bro Felix is free most days. He’s more the speed for a shortie like you anyway, right?”
Nathan gunned the engine, felt the arms around him tighten in response, then flashed Marinette one more smile.
He missed her confused reply as he pulled away, “But… I’m taller than Sabrina…”

Chapter 1 - Pinky Promise
Pinky promised I was quitting, pinky promised that I wouldn't love somebody if they didn’t. I'm a girl with big ambitions, but did I listen? No, no, no, no. They're tortured and I wouldn't understand it. Plus they got a lot of unexamined father-son baggage. They don't wanna talk about it, is that a challenge?
“Girl, why do you always fall for guys who are way out of your league?” Alina raised an eyebrow as they walked to school.
“I don’t know, it’s not my fault Nathan exists, and he’s gorgeous, and there’s nothing I can do about it.” Marinette groaned.
“Come on, you pinky promised you were quitting.” Alina raised an eyebrow.
“Emotions are freaking hard to control, Lina.” Marinette grumbled. “And actually, I pinky promised I wouldn’t love somebody if they didn’t. Technically, this is just a crush. He doesn’t love me back anyway.”
“Go ahead and tell yourself whatever makes you feel better, but girl, he’s so out of your league.”
“I know.” Marinette grinned. “This sucks.”
“Good morning, ladies.” Nathan came up from right behind them and Marinette had to keep from jumping out of her skin. How much had he heard? “How are the loveliest ladies on this side of the street doing?” It was a nice compliment, they were the only students on that side of the street so it was a safe one, but Marinette couldn’t help the blush that rose to her cheeks at that second.
“Uh… I’m g-good, Nathan! T-Thanks!” Marinette smiled helplessly before noticing the fact that his gorgeous jaw that could cut paper was abnormally tense. “Are you o-okay?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” He looked back at her with a smile on his face, classic model style.
“Oh, uh… I-I thought you looked s-stressed, so I thought I’d ask…”
“I’m just stressed. Y’know the deal, good old father-son baggage I lug around everywhere, you wouldn’t understand.”
“W-well, I’d be glad to listen if y-you wanted to vent to a s-stranger.” Marinette offered, still trying to get the blood to drain from her face.
“I don’t wanna talk about it, but thanks. See you lovely ladies in class, ‘kay?” He smiled and passed them, running off to say hi to some of the other guys he hung around with a lot.
“Girl, what was that?” Alina smirked, eyebrows raised.
“I don’t know, he just came out of nowhere and he looked stressed and I just messed things up again!” She screeched, burying her face in her hands as they got to the edge of the curb.
“Mari, that sounded like a flirt. He’s totally into you.” Alina smiled satisfactorily.
“Wait… what?”
Oh, oh, oh, oh, funny I could pick 'em in a line up, line up. Pretty certain I could do it with my eyes shut, eyes shut. A little self-obsessive and I sign up, sign up.
“Marinette!” Alina whisper-shouted. “Stop staring at Nathan and finish your test.” Mari turned and looked at Alina, and the corner of her eye caught Felix rolling his eyes as he turned the page in his book.
“Sorry, sorry.” She muttered back, turning back to her test. In fairness, Nathan was distracting. He had already finished his test, and now he was whispering quite animatedly to his desk partner, Claude, about the latest in sports news or something, Mari wasn’t really paying attention to the conversation. “How do you do this?”
“You want me to answer your questions for you? Not a chance.” Alina raised an eyebrow.
“No! Survive in a room where he is right there and actually finish your test?”
“Oh, easy. He’s not my type.” Alina shrugged with a smile, turning back to the magazine she’d brought with for quiet time.
Marinette groaned and answered the next two questions before letting her eyes go right back to Nathan’s perfect haircut, perfect biceps, perfect… shut up, bad brain. She was pretty sure her brain would short-circuit if she were in Claude’s spot.
Thinking about it, Claude was pretty tall, taller than Felix at least, and sitting next to Nathan, he looked small enough for Nathan to bench press. Probably because he could. Nathan was impressive like that– Focus on your test, bad brain.
Thankfully, Marinette survived the test. Which was good, because then she could doodle in her sketchbook without having to feel bad about ignoring the test. Every time Nathan laughed at something Claude said, every time he turned and flexed a muscle, Marinette found herself staring again. How could a person be so amazing?
“Mari. Mari. Marinette Cheng.” Alina giggled. “Girl, class ended, stop staring at him.”
“I was not!” Marinette protested. “I was just staring into space!”
“Uh-huh, sure.” She smiled conspiratorially. “Come on, girl, let’s go to lunch.”
Marinette’s eyes had traveled back to the boys in the row in front of her. “Uh, yeah, I’ll catch up.”
“Suit yourself, simp.” Alina giggled again, hugging her friend goodbye. “I’ll save you a seat!”
“–But I just don’t understand it, because like, I still had the right answer, I just took a different approach. I don’t know why Mendeliev’s so picky about it, I still got it.” Nathan stood and grabbed his books as he grinned down at Claude, who was still seated.
“Right, it’s weird. I’d say to just ‘fuck it, we ball’, but that’s not gonna help since you need to keep your grades up to stay on the gym club.” Claude responded, standing and leaning on the seat as he shoved his papers into his bag. “We’re almost done with this unit, but I swear, the whole course sucks so bad.”
“Right, man.” Nathan agreed, coming around the seat to join Claude as they started out of the room. “You good?” He raised an obnoxiously gorgeous eyebrow as he noticed Claude hesitating.
“Rolled my ankle on the way in, I’m fine.” Claude shrugged it off, making his way towards Nathan. “Come on, lunch is already, like, five minutes over.”
“Yeah, I’ll catch up, bud, there’s something I want to take care of first.”
“Have it your way.” And with that, Nathan was left alone in the room with Marinette.
“Hey, Marinette! What’s going on?” Nathan beamed.
“Uh, not much! Just cleaning up!” She didn’t bother to say that she had hung back to just listen to him talk longer.
“Need help? I think I’m pretty qualified to help the pretty lady if I do say so myself, Prince Charming and all.” He flexed for effect and she had to keep herself from swooning.
“A little self-obsessed, too.” She joked with a grin as their hands touched above one of her pens. “Oh, s-sorry…”
“Don’t be.” Nathan smiled, his silvery eyes looking so warm and inviting. “I don’t mind the chance to get closer.”
What did that even mean? Marinette couldn’t really dwell on the thought with the issues at hand, namely my pens are all over my desk and there’s a very pretty boy in front of her and she doesn’t know what to do about it.
“Well, I wouldn’t want you to b-be mistaking me for s-someone cool and s-smart and, y’know, better.” She fumbled, honestly just trying to find a way out. Something about the beautiful person in front of her made her uncomfortable. But maybe her gut was wrong.
“I could pick you out with my eyes closed, Mari, even if you were lined up next to every model in Paris. You’re special like that.”
“You… You really think so?” She looked up at him with wide eyes.
“I know so. You’re amazing, Marinette.” His smile looked so genuine. “Pinky promise.”

Sparkle cat bois. Nathan on the left, Adrien in the middle, and ✨ Felix ✨ on the right!
I think I’m gonna call this AU “Three Cat Tales”. Not because there will only be thee tales of these cats, but because there are three cats. Each with tails. And tails sounds like tales…. Get it? 😺
So, Nathan is the first one and I had to use those hair-dye ears that I think Mini-Menace Chat had. His weapon is the claws but he prefers to punch people. In the face. Because he’s Nathan. From the Gym club. Idk… I didn’t have many ideas for his outfit but I settled on this one and gave him the real tail, but his design might change.
Adrien is in the middle and is PRIMARILY canon. I took the claws (and gave ‘em to Nathan), but his weapon is the baton. Really the only difference between my him and the canon him is just the lack of claws and the green highlights. Boi, I am so sorry about your hair but I am too lazy to draw two eyes on anyone but Nathan.
✨ Felix ✨ is the third and best one. Again, too lazy to draw 2 eyes, but at least it looks okay with his hair. Also, BRAID. I’ve been having FeBraid brain rot for at least a month, I swear. I love his PV design with the boots and all, but guys, c’mon… BRAID. Gave him the real cat-ears and big ribbon tail because he’s cute and he deserves it.
and Plagg be like, “touch my cats and I will cataclysm u.” 😸
