Angel-Crowley.exe has stopped working

✨Well. This one went in a completely different direction than intended and I’m not sad about it! Have a posh, proper, stylish Azi! Yet another example of “a quick sketch” gone haywire. Shocker. 😆

I think that Saraqael is one to watch. She recognized the purple energy burst, she could at least sense Goob/Jim when he fanned the Terry Pratchett book in her face. And wasn't a jerk boss to Muriel like the other Archangels.

But. Very importantly. She recognized Crowley in Heaven in his (atrocious) angel disguise, wasn't accusatory, and USED HIS CHOSEN NAME. Didn't deadname him, remembering their work on the Horsehead Nebula (pictured). And she, and Muriel, have elements of PURPLE in their clothing. I think she could be an ally to Aziraphale and/or see him if Metatron tries to conceal him (theoretically, obviously me speculating).

Also: as a wheelchair user, I WHOOPED when she made her OWN RAMP into the bookshop.🥰

I want to see Crowley be a wreck about Aziraphale in season 3, not because “you tried to change me” or “you don’t love me” but because “You went back to something toxic that can very possibly break you, and I can’t stop you.”

Heaven gave Crowley his worst traumas. In some ways, Heaven broke him. He’s not the same innocent Angel he used to be, he’s not naive anymore. Aziraphale used to be very naive, but Crowley watched Aziraphale grow and change and make his own moral code as he learned more about the world (in large part due to Crowley’s influence, but I don’t think Crowley even notices that.) He has watched Aziraphale evolve into this beautiful person he falls more and more in love with each day. They’ve grown and changed together.

And instead of getting to be together, Aziraphale is diving headfirst back into Heaven’s toxicity. This Angel Crowley knows and loves is putting himself in a position where other angels will be snide/casually cruel, scrapping away at his confidence. She will have a close eye on him, where She can make him fall and experience the worst pain Crowley ever endured. She can literally give Aziraphale Crowley’s trauma, and there is nothing Crowley can do to stop it. The divorce, the kiss… Crowley loves saving Aziraphale, but the one thing he can’t save Aziraphale from is himself.

In between chapters, let me share this little concept art I did of Varachiel, Commander of the Heavenly Sentinels.

Sheets like this help us draw characters consistently over several pages, which is especially important if multiple artists are working together on the same project!

Guys I know its unbelievable but IMAGINE.

IMAGINE archangels genuinely helping Azi to make a difference.

IMAGINE Michael which is tired of Gabriel's leadership style. Michael which learned something from demons. Michael which is smarter than most of archangels and whose intelligence is appreciated by Azi.

IMAGINE Sandalphon which tastes earthly martial arts. Sandalphon which discovers cinema and jazz (i don't know why but i am sure he will like it)

IMAGINE Uriel which gets into the spirit of human competitions. What a chance to participate "wars" instead of avoiding it.

We like BAMF!Azi or soft!Azi which is failing and regretting his decision but what if this is his lucky day?

The little detail of the Metatron telling Michael, Uriel, and Saraqael that their actions will be dealt with later and it remains to be seen if they will be punished before sending them away while telling Muriel to stay as they may be needed has stuck with me

Just more evidence for the Metatron already knowing the outcome to his "offer"

But what I'm thinking is that the Metatron is going let Aziraphale deal with them - to keep establishing the line that Aziraphale now has power in this new position - why not start with the Archangels that have been his direct superiors who he previously reported to - a very obvious show of power to now have a responsibility over them

However I don't think it will be a decision entirely up to him - maybe with the Metatron suggesting things while they are all together - to show that the Metatron is on Aziraphales side and to establish a line of respect (fear) between the Archangels and Aziraphale - which I think he is going to realized and use to his advantage

But what I think Metatron is going to underestimate when giving this power to Aziraphale is the power of his kindness - the understanding he can provide to all the angels who have ever felt alone, overlooked, unsure - to those who have ever been curious

I mean just look to Muriel who is constantly surprised by praise and is never made to feel dumb by Aziraphale. They have to be reminded that this nice angel is a traitor and just the body language difference between them in heaven and them on earth and they even ask for a book by the end - just because they weren't immediately turned down or made to feel dumb - it's a big difference

So while the Metatron probably knew the outcome going into that conversation and has plans on how to further that narrative - Aziraphale went up to Heaven with his own plans - to make a difference - and now he is determined to prove this was the right decision after everything (and stop the second coming along the way)

i know good omens isn't that kind of a hardcore religious fiction show, but i would actually kill to see "in the beginning" scene with our angels in their biblically accurate forms. aziraphale as a principality/cherubim and angel!crowley as a seraphim/dominion/throne, with david and michael on the voiceover dialogue and the special effects team doing the stylised 3D animation. it would give so much depth and context to their human performances, you could never forget what they really are. it'd be a spiritual experience. and also, done right, the most hauntingly beautiful thing i'd ever see on screen

can you just imagine those ethereal eldritch horrors at the edge of the universe going look at you, you're gorgeous and beaming at each other. can you imagine crowley's thousands of eyes crinkling with delight, his rings of power moving like gearshifts, 6-pairs-or-so wings fluttering in excitement almost knocking aziraphale's form over. and aziraphale gazing up on him like he's not only hung up the stars, but like he outshines all of them. i just. god.
