Fantasy writers PLEASE start including some sort of ‘previously on’ intro chapter to your sequels. Not just a cast of characters (though that is also helpful). I can’t remember shit about my own life much less the political situation of the fictional fantasy world from the first book.

nightbringer lesson 14 FUCKED ME UP in several ways but primarily I've spent the last 48 hours making myself sad over the solomon backstory we got. specifically I have, for no reason, latched onto that one chapter in the Kids event where baby solomon cried because he felt so guilty over being responsible for that spell. and that just feels a touch more depressing in context

I've seen people saying that Aziraphale will come back to Earth (and Crowley) when he fails to change Heaven, but I don't think that's what's gonna happen. We've seen with both Muriel and Jim that angels aren't fundamentally cold, calculated and cruel, they are literally beings of love. Gabriel was a product of the environment that was created in Heaven and he further perpetuated it creating a cycle of abuse, hurting others like Aziraphale and Muriel. But we see him change with love.

Maybe Aziraphale won't have any influence on Metatron or the Archangels, but on angels like Muriel? The ones who've been isolated for centuries? For those angels he might make a serious difference.

And maybe even Archangels will change, maybe in the end whole Heaven will change and if it were to change it would be by love.

And who is there better for that than Aziraphale? He loves books, little restaurants where they know his name, vintage snuffboxes, Earth, humanity as a whole and of course Crowley. Who is better for showing Heaven love than a being who has been consistently loving for past 6000 years?

I don't want Aziraphale's arc to be him crawling back to Earth in defeat because Crowley was right. I want him to change Heaven (even a little bit) and CHOOSING to go back to Earth and be with Crowley, because he realizes he doesn't need Heaven to have love, he already has Crowley.

Yesterday evening I was possessed to write down the idea I had at work, and today has also been filled with just writing. These bitches are talking, and they do Not want to stop. Gonna have to forcefully separate them or something.

Anyways, first off, why have a plot, when you can just put two characters in a room and have them talk? Better yet, why go through the trouble of making it two different characters, when you can have two versions of the same character talk? You can do that. No-one's stopping you.

like, I don't know how, and even despite knowing it's boy I still fuckin hear it

It drove me insane a bit bc at first i just kinda accepted it as >oh this must be neat little lyric trick or something, maybe gender weirdness or something something metaphorical given it's the heart's part

i even tried making it clearer and all of that and strained my brain to hear 'boy' and tried listening through different qualities and everything but no, I kept hearing 'girl'

and my brain just got stuck on it for a little while bc it wasn't acting like audio illusions usually act for me-- once I know the right word or whatever that's being said, I hear that, but it wasn't doing that for me here

friend even suggested doing a test to see what people'd hear but I just kinda gave up on that thought immediately because I felt embarrassed wheezes

a year later I still hear 'girl' there but my brain knows it's 'boy' so I just think 'boy' anyway, and a couple times I've managed to hear 'boy' there

basically: my fun time with the heart acoustic and whatever the fuck my ears / brain were doing
