every champion in the triwizard tournament knew about the dragons beforehand. when harry told sirius about the dragons via floo, he knew INSTANTLY how harry could go about defeating a fully grown dragon with a simple spell. later, in the cave, he almost ENTIRELY picks up on what’s going on with barty crouch—even pinpointing that it had something to do with his son. he’s incredibly sharp, and doesn’t let his bias about snape cloud his theories (like ron does, very often)and yet people think he was thick and couldn’t tie his own shoelaces without moony telling him which foot was which. in this essay i will

If you could have each book in the HP series narrated by a different character who would it be?
PS - Hagrid. Seeing his POV on 11-year-olf Harry, meeting Quirrel-Voldemort in a pub, Norberta etc etc.
CoS - alternating between Hermione and Ginny. Ginny dealing with the possession, and Hermione coming to terms with her Muggleborn status. Hermione reads like a child who comes from privilege - and it will be interesting to see how she grapples with Muggleborn politics. @bluethepineapple had a very interesting insight into Hermione's process in the Polyjuice plan, where she declares threatening Muggleborns (where the dialogue makes it sound like she isn't one of them) is worse than brewing a complicated potion. Here is what Blue had to say:
"Being in a position of vulnerability is brand new and it is really throwing her off. She does not know how to integrate it with her previous position of privilege. So she is in this weird in between place where she is acting on said privilege (ie. the position of protector) while having been inducted to a minority group. At this point in time, being a muggle-born is still something she feels separate from."

GOF - Barty Crouch Jr, Snape. Very interested in two contrasting figures who projected their father issues on Voldemort - but one is a reformed Death Eater seeing his dark mark growing clearer and clearer. I also want that 2 hour long conversation between Voldemort and Snape. @yletylyf has written a piece about this.
OOTP - Bill! Order member so would be privy to Order stuff, falling in love in between war, back in the country to take care of his family ...quite a lot of material to work with.
HBP - Draco and Snape. Snape living with knowledge of Dumbledore's incoming death, and Draco in over his head.
DH - Neville, Luna and Ginny's rebellion i. Hogwarts. The DA, basically.

I think we’re out of the woodworks though, anon, considering the lack of birthday post or mentioning him in any lives.
And the whole “directing” thing isn’t even on him really, it’s translators being overly literal for lack of context. I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but I actually ended up getting glitched out of Meet The Malfoys because of a resetting timer and when I contacted Jam City they essentially just marked the TLSQ as complete for me, so I didn't get to see most of the plot. I really need to sit down and watch a play through of it at some point... So I'll have to get back to you about Acacia and whether or not she'd be there.
As for Dudley, she was very cool towards him at first when he ended up seeking Harry's advice about his daughter being a witch, because I love that hc too. (To which Harry essentially said "I dunno, I'm still figuring out this whole raising magical kids thing myself. As long as you don't treat her like your parents treated me I think you're doing pretty alright. Other than that, I guess you can come round with questions whenever, and you're welcome to come with us to buy school supplies?") Acacia wasn't actively hostile to Dudley because Harry said they were on okay terms, but it still took time for him to sort of win her over. And it wasn't even the things he did to actively try to get her to like him, it was seeing him with the kids. Watching him actively try to understand this new world, and kindly listen to the children's excited chatter as the tried to explain things. It was sweet and she slowly warmed up to him.
And on the subject of Harry and Acacia exchanging letters, it most likely wouldn't have happened if it was left up to Harry to initiate, lol. He was too busy stewing away at the lack of response from his other friends to remember to write Acacia at first. Then one evening he heard a tap at his window and discovered Acacia's handsome barn owl, Alistair, waiting impatiently to be let in.
Oh yeah! I remember when that quest came out, and that glitch was widespread. You definitely weren't the only one who got it. People were having it drop a few days earlier than it was supposed to, but they couldn't actually access or start the quest until the point it was actually supposed to have started in the first place. Meaning people wouldn't have nearly enough time to finish the quest and would fail. Also like...Jam City, come on. I know I give you a lot of grief on this blog but like...why would that be your idea of a solution? It's happened before, like some of the removed quests just get automatically placed into your file like they've been completed, but guys, that is so not the point. It isn't about completionism, it's about the experience. We want to actually play through the quests. And for the love of Merlin, you don't need to write Rowan out of quests if the player has passed Y6CH18, we can just assume that it takes place earlier, or you can even have a disclaimer expressing as much! Why is your solution one that provides the least amount of content possible?
Okay, okay, rant over. Point is, I adore Acacia more and more as I learn more about her and see her in different situations. Her loyalty inspiring mistrust, ultimately melted and won over by seeing that Dudley is good with kids? I love that so much. I also agree with you about Harry. I feel like he'd never be the first to initiate writing with someone, because he wouldn't want to feel like a burden. He even hesitated to tell his friends about his scar in GOF. Plus as a general rule, people aren't really "real" to Harry outside of his immediate and closest circle. But I live for Acacia going for broke and making the first move. That is also a kickass name for an owl.

i think sirius’ canon approval of dumbledore is an interesting piece of characterisation. very often in fic i see him being written as rebelling against the old man but canonically he obeys his every word, even if he doesn’t personally agree 🤔 in gof he’s convinced that snape, a man he loathes, is probably not up to something nefarious because dumbledore trusts him. in ootp, he HATES being stuck in grimmauld place but he obeys dumbledore’s orders to the T. when harry tells him he thinks he attacked arthur weasley, sirius only questions whether dumbledore is aware of this, before brushing it off

I’m glad you like it! Sorry that it took a while to get this done. I hope this is what you wanted :)
So, having to live with the same people for the rest of the eternity results in a lot of chaos. The Olympus is a big mess.
ZEUS
(Gotta say it: I hate this dude)
+ For starters, Zeus is kind of an asshole with everyone, but we knew that already.
+ He keeps cheating on Hera and acts like it’s the last time.
+ Always fights with Hades and Poseidon over the simplest things but deep down (very, very deep), he loves them.
+ He’s really nice to Hestia, because, you’re a monster if you’re not.
+ Isn’t the best father. He tries saying that he loves all his kids the same but everyone knows he loves Athena more. Some people think that’s because he feels guilty for Metis (including Athena herself).
HESTIA
+ Hestia is like, the kindest person in the world and she loves her family with all her heart.
+ She has long conversations with Hades while they drink tea (she’s his favorite sibling) and spends a lot of time braiding Demeter and Hera’s hair while her sisters rant about Hades and Zeus.
+ She rolls her eyes at Demeter because Persephone is happily married and she wishes her sister would just accept that, and tries to get Hera to divorce her husband because Zeus doesn’t deserve her.
+ Hestia basically loves spending time with everyone in her family. Tea parties with Hades? Yes. Reading books with Athena? Yes. Long conversations with Aphrodite? Yes. Cooking with Demeter? Yes. She just wants them to spend more time together a real family and always tries to make things more peaceful.
+ That’s why she’s always there when they do the council meetings. Things tend to get a little… intense.
+ Basically they would be screwed without her.
HADES
+ If he’s honest, not living in Olympus with the rest of his family is a blessing.
+ He hated being islated at first but her can’t stand all those figths. Zeus and Demeter get on his nerves and wants to throw himself on Tartarus when they start yelling at his.
+ Hestia visits him and he loves her, all the others can choke.
+ (he loves them too but never says it)
+ Poseidon and Hades get along pretty well when they’re making fun of Zeus together.
+ But he wishes they could be able to just be brothers without power always coming first. (yeah, Persephone made him soft)

+ His favorite nieces are Athena and Artemis because they never get on his nerves like Apollo and Hermes.
+ Just like Hestia, he wishes Hera would divorce Zeus. Because one: she’s one of the reasons the Underworld is getting more souls, and two: because he knows his brother’s a shitty husband.
+ Sometimes he goes to the Olympus just to see Persephone because he’s really lonely when she’s not there and Hestia can’t visit him.
POSEIDON
+ Poseidon’s chill most of the times.
+ He fights with Zeus and Hades sometimes? Yes, but usually he just likes to hang out with Apollo, Hermes, Ares and Hephaestus. See? Pretty chill.
+ But one thing happened on his life and that thing is the reason he isn’t so chill anymore.
+ That thing is Athena.
+ Ever since they fought over Athens he knew she was the worst child Zeus had ever had.
+ They fight all the time. Every. Single. Day. Over anything.
+ She keeps saying he doesn’t have a brain and that he’s a brute. So he does what no one should do when they’re on Athena’s bad side:
+ He fights back.
+ Aphrodite says it’s love but there’s no way he loves that blonde-emotionless-creature. No.
+ He loves his sisters but he’s not so close to Demeter anymore. He gets why and respects her.
+ When he’s at Olympus he’s usually with Apollo and Hermes. But sometimes with Aphrodite as well.
ARES
+ He’s a piece of work.
+ He tends to act more as The Gof Of War™ than just… Ares. Usually he’ll only show his other side to Aphrodite.
+ He’s not the best at showing his emotions and Aphrodite’s working on that. They might not be lovers anymore, but they’re very good friends.
+ At first it was hard for him, because, he loved her. In his own way, but he did. However, they’re cool now.
+ This also changed his relationship with Hephaestus as well. They never really hated each other but now they’re able to have a nice conversation without start yelling.
+ He denies it but he’ll always be a little jealous of Athena. They hardly agree with each other’s plans and ideas but they’re siblings and as much as he tries he can’t hate her.
+ They spend time training together or playing chess (she always wins).
HEPHAESTUS
+ He’s not close to Hera. Not at all.
+ When your mother throws you out of the house because you’re “ugly” on her eyes, she kinds ruins your relationship forever.
+ Aphrodite apologized for cheating on him and he apologized for not giving her the attention she deserved and they’re trying to fix they’re relationship. They’re friends but he’s still in love with her. He doesn’t think he’ll ever stop loving her.
+ Athena, Ares and Hephaestus always work together when there’s a war.
+ He always has to fix things Apollo or Hermes break.
+ Athena and Hestia are his favorites relatives.
ATHENA
+ Has the best relationship with Zeus. And while she doubts it’s all because of guilt, it’s better to leave it like this.
+ Intense training sessions with Artemis and Ares.
+ Intense reading sessions alone / with Hestia and sometimes Hephaestus.
+ Sometimes Aphrodite annoys her but she loves her like a sister.
+ Aphrodite always enters her temple/library without knocking on the door and at this point, she’s used to it.
+ Always compliments Demeter because Demeter’s coffee is the best and she’s addicted to it.
+ I’m not gonna mention her fights with Poseidon again.
+ But even with the constant fighting, Athena misses the time before the whole Athens and the whole Medusa thing when they were friends.
+ No, she’ll never tell him that.
ARTEMIS
+ Her best friend is Athena. They train together when she’s not with the hunters.
+ Her feelings towards Aphrodite are the same as Athena’s.
+ But her favorite person is Apollo.
+ She’s not close to anyone as she is with him. And yes, he annoys the hell out of her, but they’re twins and his her little brother. She loves him with all her heart.
+ But Artemis is really closed. She doesn’t open up much and tries to keep her feelings to herself so she doesn’t say that to him very often.
+ That doesn’t mean they fight any less than Athena and Poseidon.
+ Usually is because Apollo’s annoys her everytime he gets the chance. Either by calling her “little sis” or hitting on her hunters on purpose.
+ She’ll do anything to protect him.
+ Hermes annoys her too. But she’s not as patient as she is with Apollo. He regrets it first.
DEMETER
+ Persephone is her baby girl. She will always be.
+ Demeter and Hades used to be good friends but it seems like she’ll never get over the fact that Persephone married him.
+ They grew apart and that was one of saddest thing Hestia has even seen happenning with her siblings, because they were really close.
+ She loves Hestia and Hera with all her heart and will do anything for them.
+ Poseidon and Demeter also grew apart, but they both decided it was the best.
+ She loves cooking and sometimes she does it when she’s trying to avoid some feelings (she cooks a lot when Persephone goes to the Underworld).
HERA
+ She spends a lot of time with Hestia learning how to control her temper.
+ She swears she’s getting better.
+ Hera knows Zeus doesn’t deserve her (or any woman), but she can’t divorce him. Something in her mind keeps telling her she should try harder because she’s the goddess of marriage but she’s not enough.
+ Even with Aphrodite, Hestia, Demeter, Poseidon and Hades telling her she’s not the problem, she just tries to control her emotions and be a better wife for Zeus.
+ Is tring to fix her relationship with Artemis, Apollo, Hermes and Dionysus but she knows it won’t happen so fast.
+ Hera knows her relationship with Hephaestus is beyond repair and she regrets what she did to him.
DIONYSUS
+ Always says he hates his family but it’s not (entirely) true.
+ Great parties with Aphrodite and Apollo.
+ Not the biggest fan of Hera.
+ The only person he says he really loves is Ariadne and Ariadne only.
PERSEPHONE
+ Loves her mother but wishes Demeter would stop trying to keep her away from Hades.
+ Probably has the second best relationship with Zeus.
+ Good friends with Hera and jokes about them being The Queens Of The World™.
+ Long gossip sessions with Aphrodite.
+ Basically everyone loves her as well.
APHRODITE
+ Sometimes she’s insecure because there was a time when none of the goddesses liked her.
+ Now she’s good friends with Athena and Hera (she doesn’t want another Trojan War).
+ Really good friends with Poseidon and Apollo. They spend hours talking on her temple.
+ Apollo and Aphrodite love karaoke. They do it every weekend.
+ She hates Zeus. He makes Hera suffer and she can clearly see that there’s no love in their marriage anymore and that their marriage is really toxic.
+ Sometimes the other Olympians underestimate her, but she’s the oldest and most powerful one.
+ She loves cooking with Demeter as well and always asks Athena for new books she might like to read
+ She’s working on fixing her own marriage because she knows she can be really happy with Hephaestus, she really loves him.
+ Gets along with Hades really well, because love and death have always walked together.

+ Best friends with Apollo.
+ Teasing Artemis and Athena is his favorite thing to do (but he always regrets it).
+ Competes with Dionysus to see who can drink more (which he always regrets as well).
+ Likes to play pranks on everyone. His favorite prank involved Athena and a spider (it didn’t end well for anyone).
+ Developed a nice friendship with Hades (but still annoys him sometimes).

The Other Side
I gave this a lot of thought. The expression "the other side" can mean a lot of things. There was a movie by that title, and it's been a lyric in a number of songs (including one by The Doors from 'way back when I was a teen).
But what it means to me is that crossing over to "the other side" when one dies. "The other side of the veil". ""Crossing over Jordan". That sort of other side.
There is so much to say about this that I'm not sure I could do much more than scratch the surface, regardless of how much I wrote here. I will just share these observations:
I believe in the Judeo-Christian view of Deity, having been raised Jewish and embracing Christianity in early adulthood. I know this view is not shared by all, probably not even the majority. But in the words of one meme, "I would rather live as if there is a God and die and discover there was none than to live as if there were no Gof and die and discover there is one."
I believe the whole message of the Bible is that God loves and accepts all of us and wants to have fellowship with us. Sometimes I get the impression that a lot of churches and religious groups are trying to spread the message of, "No, God does not love or accept you unless you think and act a certain way and do certain things" (usually including giving money to them).
I believe the Bible was intended to bring people back into fellowship with God and with each other. I do not believe it was ever intended to hit people over the head with how they're going to Hell if they do this or don't do that or if they think this or don't think that... let alone of they are this or aren't that.
One thing about The Other SIde that worries me is this: When I get there, I believe there will be a reckoning of how I lived on Earth. And if the One who makes the judgment, by whatever name or names, determines that I screwed up, then nothing else in the Universe, nothing else in all of Time or Eternity, is going to matter.
