This year I really started to explore more ska, I'm definitely not the most knowledgeable and I'm certain there are ska artists/bands I'd like that I haven't discovered. Though if I'm honest, I'm surprised that We Are The Union aren't in my top 5 artists had a blast listening to their stuff this year.
If I had to pick a few recommendations from stuff that released specifically this year, I'd probably suggest;
Summer Everyday by TWRP (and tbh that whole EP)
Where Did All My Friends Go? by Mustard Plug (the song AND album)
Beautiful Mind by Brian David Gilbert and Tom Cardy
Black Cat by Red Rum Club
wednesday by Ethan Gander
Also, apparently I listened to 362 artists this year? that's almost enough for one every day. i also listened to 964 different songs???
Outside of Ska this year is definitely the most experimental I've been since 2016 when I first got spotify and was exposed to bands like Franz Ferdinand and The Fratellis.
I'm definitely hoping to keep this broadening of my horizons going in 2024.
One last thing, since Spotify started doing wrapped, this is the first year The Fratellis haven't absolutely DOMINATED my top 5 songs. (they still account for 19 out 100 songs aha)

Are there any plans to release any of the orchestral arrangements as sheet music? I'm learning to play the violin and I'd love to someday play some of my favourite Gloryhammer songs.
I'd like to do that. I think it might take quite a while to create the scores but it would be a fun project. I would love to hear some of my music and arrangements performed by real live musicians!

Okay I may be into the beginning if a Gloryhammer phase since I know I'll be seeing them in live in January.
The firing of Thomas Winkler has been pretty controversial and all, personally I think that's upsetting that they fired someone who was there since the beginning by email, but I also think that Sozos is a really great singer and he wears the armor really well ^^

Two days ago I was at the Gloryhammer concert (with Beast in Black and Brothers of Metal) and WOW. With each subsequent concert, the guys are even better, the energy is amazing, and this castle - I saw it in photos from previous locations, but it looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in real life. I'm really more than impressed with the entire concert and these emotions will stay with me for a long time. And despite the huge queue, I managed to buy a tour shirt yay 🎉. And what I like most of all is that with each subsequent concert I have even more fun. Seeing the guys live really makes me happy - especially two days ago because the day of the concert was a hard day for me, but as soon as the guys appeared on stage my mood immediately went better 😁 What was funny (and awkward xd) was that during Keeper, a lot of people standing next to me didn't really know he lyrics and I started singing like a maniac and one lady was like 👀
And I'm still screaming internally because I managed to give Sozos the gift (actually it was box with 6 different gifts) I made for him - BUT I'M SCREAMING BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH A RANDOM ACTION AND IT WAS SO SUDDEN AND SOZOS WAS SHOCKED AND KINDA CONFUSED? (AND ME TOO BECAUSE I FREEZED LIKE ZARGOTHRAX IN LIQUID ICE) AND EVERYONE WAS LIKE ???? I CAN'T 🤣 Normally I would never do something like this but I DID IT 😱 😍

1- Powerwolf (stupid, funny, nothing if not consistent)
2- Gloryhammer (unfortunate but I CAN'T let go the funny space wizards band. maybe one day victorius will take the spot but not yet. also stupid and funny.)
3- Motley Crue (obvious. also unfortunate. also stupid. also funny. not sure that was on purpose this one)

POWERWOLF. i want the metal mass. i want to dress up as a weird creepy nun and act weird. i want to live the werewolf life for a few hours. it's all i need in life.

i've only actually went to one show, bc i helped organize it, by a local band, like, the hobby for middle aged established people kind of band. they're not trying to make it big and i'm not trying to be tooooo obvious incase someone who knows me irl comes across this so im not sharing. it was pretty cool, they were really good, but obviously working the stands isn't the same as being in the crowd so.
im not really in the right headspace to make mid-term plans, especially for social events so. nothing planned currently. a bunch of cool shit is going on in my city lmao but ONE DAY.

THIS ONE GOES HARD. i kinda listened to this album way too much early 2021, so it doesn't get to me as much anymore, but this song in particular is suuuuch a great opening. it serves as the first song in Beyond the Red Mirror, which is still one of my fave metal concept albums!
