The complicated mess of Avaloran love life, or: How your first love can not always be your true love, but lead you into the right direction.
Plot:
Convinced that Elena will not return his romantic love, with everything else she has to worry about, Mateo closes himself off from Elena's way into his heart and goes out with Rita because she shows romantic interest in him.
But when Rita turns out to be Carla in disguise, who has been spying on him all along, he is heartbroken. Elena stays by his side as his best friend through it all. And Mateo realized that his attraction to Rita was just an unconcious distraction and projection to protect himself from possible rejection by Elena.
When the Queen sees Carla and Mateo dance again, she becomes jealous and confesses her own love. Carla watches the Queen and Royal Wizard dance, overjoyed to have helped them getting together after so many years.
Meanwhile, Gabe sees Elena as well and remembers her fondly, full of contentment. He has long since moved on from his crush on Elena in the beginning of his career. When Elena rejected his advances, he realized that it was only a fantasy. Pushing him onto the path that lead him to his true love. Now he is more than happy being pulled into a dance by Naomi.
Just as Gabe, Naomi cannot help but remembering her first love,too. When Vi left to sail the world, Naomi felt heartbroken. And just as her feelings for Gabe started to blossom, Chloe pulled him away from her like a whirlwind and Naomi had almost given up on love.
But Gabe realized his own feelings for Naomi with Chloe's help and came back to his special someone and the Norberg Lights.
Naomi and Gabe are unaware of Chloe's involvement and emotional sacrifice respectively.
Chloe is happy that Gabe has fun now, but she cannot stop the heartbreak when she is alone.
Hector reluctantly comforts his daughter, but instantly answers his soft words with boasting. After all, he is the one to arrange for Alonso to come to Norberg that day.
Chloe and Alonso have been promised to marry one day. They are not in love at this time (… yet) but have started to become friends and Chloe is delighted to see him again.

Do you ship other ships from Elena of Avalor besides Eleteo and Gabaomi?
To be honest, these ships are so good for me that I don't even think about to ship characters with someone else. I love the dynamics between Esteban and Naomi, and if they were the same age, something might come of it. Also a good ships are Esteoma, Isabel/Prince James, Elena/Prince Alonso. I didn't think about the rest. I'm ok with Elenaomi, Gabelena, Gabteo. The only ship I don't like is Carteo. It's just really bad for me, so that's it.

god it's been a while since i've watched eoa so it's all a bit blurry but i would definitely say his final showdown w fiero, him in spirit of a wizard attacking ash and zipoloteite after alacazar--:'( and when he defeated the 4 shades of awesome!
idea for a story:
so i have written this (it's unfinished and i don't plan on finishing) (and no i will not be posting it bc it's awful) but basically it's malvago!mateo where mateo's old friend returns and she's actually a powerful malvago (she freed the 4 shades of awesome which led to the collapse of maru, she also made shuriki's wand) and basically made him choose between her killing elena and taking over the kingdom like that, or her sparing elena but he has to come w her. and obvi mateo is in love w elena so he goes w her but she turns him into a malvago. so he's like possessed. and the only way elena can communicate w his true self is in their dreams. so every night, they meet in their dreams to figure out how to defeat this villain while being in love. at the end of the story they somehow defeat the villain and elena realizes that she loves him and yeah lmao
unpopular opinion:
i prefer the robe he has in s1 and s2 and beginning of s3, then the one he gets in spirit of a wizard. it just seems so comfy

They both struggled with the same things (abhsuve parents, political pressure as children), showed it in different ways, and got through it TOGETHER. also theyre canon so🥰

I was in the fifth grade when this show came out and i honestly still love it so much. I used to want to BE elena you dont understand😭😭 they did gabe DIRTY those last few seasons but he and elena were such baddies together. Also I don’t care what you say, he was totally in love with her.

So I just finished Elena of Avalor. Tbh i loved it for a thousand reasons ranging from AMAZING latinx representation to stories that center on different forms of love than romantic love. Yes it's kinda cheesy but that's expected from a show geared towards kids. And as far as cheesy goes, it has nice lessons about forgiveness and family and responsibilities and using your strengths.
Something i loved that surprised me was how the show handled family. Speaking from experience as a Latina, family is a HUGE deal specifically blood relations, so it made sense that a show that drew from latinx cultures also had emphasis on family. What surprised me was the balance between blood family and found family. When Esteban betrayed her and their family, the show didn't show pressure to forgive him and accept him back just because he was family. The show also showed the importance of found family with the strong bonds with people throughout the kingdom and other kingdoms like the Jaquins or Alonzo or the sirenas. They are people close to her that are like family and treated as such in different ways.
As far as love interests for Elena, I've thought about it and I'm going with Mateo, Gabe, Naomi, and Elena are all in a relationship with one another. Poly for life! Yes it sounds kinda out there and yes I am biased (am poly and love poly), but it also kinda works. They all work amazing together, obviously. Beyond that there's been some cute romantic moments between Naomi and Gabe, between Gabe and Mateo, between Mateo and Elena, between Elena and Gabe, and definitely between Elena and Naomi. They all have a bit of chemistry between one another and I love it. Might think up and share some headcannon later but ya. First thoughts post finale

gabelena headcanons
i mean if i’m gonna be doing fics for all of them i might as well do this for all of them, too, right?
Gabe initially defaults back to the whole “I’ll protect you, Your Highness” thing, but Elena puts a stop to that fast. They are equals in this relationship, thank you, they will protect each other
Gabe knew on day 1 that Elena was pretty great (she beat Shuriki and she’s the princess and oh wow) but it was seeing her raw, unyielding determination in action that really had him falling for her
he fell pretty fast, honestly
Elena took a little longer to warm up to him as a romantic interest. at first, she found him a bit overbearing
but as he learned that A: he didn’t have to try quite so hard to impress her and B: she could take care of herself pretty well most of the time, Gabe started to loosen up some more, and Elena found herself really liking having such a constant in her life after decades of isolation
since Gabe accompanies Elena on a lot of diplomatic missions by default, it’s really easy for them to just turn them into dates as soon as the work part is done. Tour the kingdom! See the sights! find places for potential future romantic getaways
Elena buys her man some new clothes because seriously somebody has to and apparently Gabe isn’t doing it himself
the logical combination of the above: Elena buying little accessories from the different kingdoms they go on dates in to both commemorate the moment AND get something nice for Gabe (and maybe even get a matching hairpin for herself?)
the little things are a good compromise, too-- Gabe’s not super comfortable with Elena spending a lot of money on him, for an assortment of reasons, but little tokens like this are sweet without being too much
Elena starts finding more excuses to just. Check in. On the guards while they’re training. No reason, really, just a routine inspection, don’t mind her, she’ll just watch for a while
(on that note though, there’s definitely a bit of tension amongst the guards about the relationship. There was already talk of favoritism before they started dating, let alone now)
of Elena’s family, Francisco in particular really likes Gabe and tries to take him under his wing (although some of his advice miiiight be a little outdated)
they like learning new skills together! they learn well from one another (fencing and olaball, yes?), so what usually happens is one will pick up the skill pretty quickly and then turn their attention to helping the other
Gabe is a bit hesitant to try baking again, though, but he finds that it’s actually pretty fun when there’s absolutely no pressure involved with it
they uh. they’re still kitchen disasters though. at least they had fun trying?
I feel like Gabe would be good at giving massages, y’know? like I can imagine Elena being stressed out bc diplomacy is hard, and Gabe just kinda steps in and rubs her shoulders while she vents
really Gabe is just a good, grounding presence to have around
