Ok gotta talk about it.
As a Jewish historian, I fucking hate Israel in ways most probably will never be able to comprehend. I'm going to try and explain it anyways. The central creation myth of Israel is that it is Jewish, and then consequently, that Israel is a part of Jewishness. Its easy to simply state this is false, but fully comprehending this and putting it into practice in thought and deed seems rare to me.
The evil at the heart of this violence predates the recent acceleration of genocide. Israel is a colony, and more than that, an antisemitic fraud itself. After WW2, when Israel was being founded, the Jews of Europe generally did not wave goodbye to their neighbors and head to the promised land. Many were expelled from their homes. Zionism itself, as an action, was a false choice at the time. A mere excuse to place an ally in the middle east, and an excuse to complete the expulsion and destruction of the European Jew. The Zionist Jew is more than complicit in this, they actively seek the destruction and assimilation of all other Jews.
Many fail to realize, and largely because of Israel, that Jews are not inherently white, Ashkenazi, European-descended people. Our faith and culture has an immense variety that is spread all across the globe. Jewishness, in population and volume of culture, exists more so outside of Israel than within it. Israel is for a very specific kind of Jew. The kind that lets Yiddish die, that attaches themselves to European things, that makes themselves and their practices as white as possible.
And they have the nerve, the fucking belligerent GALL, to frame themselves as the necessary saviors of our people. To the Zionist, questioning Israel is to question Jewishness itself. They bake adoration for the colonial machine into their very prayers, and push them on us even as children. To *not* oppress, to *not* kill, to *not* genocide, is to invite death. This is the core of fascistic thought, of course. "Kill them before they kill us." And they KNOW this too, they really do. The truth of that irony does not matter, because as is true for all fascists, the truth itself does not matter to them. They wanted this, they wanted this even before the British saw it in their best interest to give them the land. Any excuse to RETVRN, as the neo-nazis say of Rome, or the German Empire, or whatever the fuck stupid country they want to poorly animate the corpse of. Some select Zionists even *sided with the fucking Nazis* in agreement they should abandon Europe to colonize Palestine. (Haavara Agreement)
My people have proved time and time and time again you don't need a nation state to have an enduring culture. We have protected ourselves for thousands of years without the help of these spiteful, doom-saying maniacs. I was going to post something like this on Passover, but that would be hypocritical. I'm not Jewish, but reading some posts from Jewish people on your blog really made me reconsider my views on zionism. I believe there must be a state of Palestine and a state of Israel, and that the government of Israel should be punished for its crimes same as Hamas, but it never occurred to me that preaching for the end of Israel wouldn't make anything better, bc the there are people there, people who never wished to be in a war and don't have anywhere else to go if Israel vanishes. I know I probably sound stupid with this newly discovered enlightenment, but anyway

it’s literally the same as any other country on the planet. there’s a government and then there’s a people. if anti fascists actually knew how fascism worked, they’d know how much disinformation, gerrymandering, and fraud has to occur for the corruption to sink in. it’s not and has never been as simple as people voting. it runs so much deeper, and so many millions of people suffer for it. fascism only gets elected once. corruption only gets elected once. once its in, it’s in, and it’s very hard to uproot. which is why so many Israelis protest against the current government every single day. the “death to israel” chant has NEVER meant death to the government - the people who started using that, used it because they wanted death to jews. if more people who truly want better for palestinians and a two state solution did their research into shit like that, there wouldn’t need to be a revelation. humanity would just be understood. for people who claim to be the most caring, the “death to israel” crowd certainly lacks in empathy.
while it does admittedly sound silly, I am genuinely glad you were able to come to that realization and I hope you continue to educate yourself, as well as push back against the people who will try to gaslight you into continuing that antisemitic mindset from before.

thank you for your responses to the asks about desantis!! everything i've been seeing is some variation of "he's trump with a brain and can actually do everything trump was too stupid to do" which has been utterly terrifying so it was such a relief to read something about how he actually isn't as smart as people are making him out to be and can't really hold his own enough beyond his florida bubble
Honestly, DeSantis is an idiot. He just does completely predictable fascist things and he's aggressive enough about doing them that people confuse it with success or some kind of groundbreaking political strategy. He's the poster child of mediocre white man steeped in unearned privilege, but because the media and many elements of the American mainstream are eager to appoint any establishment Republican politician as the "centrist candidate" or otherwise some kind of political genius, he has benefited from a TON of undeserved hype. They did it with Trump, they'll try to do it again, and we need to be on guard for that, but... yeah.
The thing is, very little actually depended on Trump. He was there to sign laws and appoint justices/executive orders, and get his cultists to vote for Republicans. Mitch McConnell and the rest of the GOP did the actual maneuvering, and they weren't good at actually getting any laws passed via the legislative process. DeSantis, if God forbid he did get elected, isn't going to have any magical powers that Trump didn't have, or any more support from all the bad-faith elements of the Republican party and the country. And they did a lot of damage, but DeSantis isn't going to be the Ultimate God King Fascist Emperor in any special or different way. We know what fascists want to do. It's boring and it's mean and it's damaging and tediously predictable, but it's not awe-inspiring or unstoppable. Banality of evil etc., etc.
Anyway, again: Let's start pushing back on this "DeSantis is a brilliant unstoppable evil genius" narrative ASAP. It's not true by any standard of evidence you care to use, it purposefully disheartens Democrats/liberals/progressives by that same old fascist canard of "we're so powerful that you shouldn't bother fighting us, just let us win," and c'mon. brief summary of how this sorry excuse of an organization formed: they broke into a nightclub because "DANCING IS SINFUL", destroyed the club obviously, beat up everyone who was there (girls, guys, university students, bartenders, EVERYONE). where was the police, you may ask? one of them was drunk and JOINED these shitheads, the rest showed up hours later for "unrelated reasons" and pretended none of it happened. you'll see that cops doing jack shit will become a reoccurring theme in this post. this all branches from the extreme upholding of "orthodox christian values" - they're doing all this in "God's name", AND THE CHURCH SUPPORTS IT. obviously, fascism in Georgia existed even before these fucking cunts, but they're growing stronger and recruiting more people these days.

they killed a dog and kept beating it after death, and they beat up cats in the street (they filmed these as a video too)
they beat up the leader of a governmental organization Girchi, which is the most progressive party we have right now (with anti-governmental, anti-russian, and antifa anarchistic ideologies)
the Girchi leader was supposed to hold a lecture about politics for kids and uni students at a summer camp thing, and the nazis ATTACKED THE CAMPSITE AND THREW STONES AT PEOPLE.
update on the first one: an armed man in civilian clothes entered his HOSPITAL ROOM, some women tried to stop him, TURNS OUT HE WAS A COP, AND NOW THE POLICE IS PRESSING CHARGES FOR "ATTACKING A POLICE OFFICER"??????

I love Greg, but if I was Tom I would have teared the bitch to pieces with my teeth if I saw him having a ball of a time with the fascists, after having agreed to go to prison for him. Anyway... I mean I'm an American, but unlike these idiots I realize we actually owe a lot to Ukraine for fighting russia right now. Like leaving aside being a decent human being and not thinking people should be invaded, the Ukrainian army is giving us way more value with how they use any weapons we send them than they were getting us sitting in some stockpile
The Ukrainian Army are out there protecting not only Ukraine's freedom, but all of us. Like I have the sense to see that while Ukraine is fighting for survival, their fight still protects me
I mean most of Ukraine embodies the American ideals better than plenty of Americans (especially the right wingers who crow about freedom before deepthroating putin's boot)
I don't know... basically I've been paying attention to Ukraine ever since russia invaded back in February, been following more Ukrainians and Eastern Europeans and realizing how western media totally ignored the invasion in 2014, and how much of an ass westerners have been acting like during this invasion

If we want peace, we need to give Ukraine everything it takes to force russia out. I really do appreciate asks like this because they are quite rare from Western Europeans and Americans contrary to Eastern Europe. It’s also really interesting to actually listen to a person’s story, so to speak, with political ideologies.
What’s funny is that even though most Ukrainians will now tell you that they are nationalistic, they hold a lot of left views, especially the young generation, me included. Here we can raise a question of what is nationalism for Ukrainians. It’s love for their country and its culture, basic need of being left alone to create a developed country, but it’s never about other cultures being worse than ours or this belief that some territories must be returned and annexed from other states.
So what I was on about… We are so very grateful for the help, both humanitarian and military aid, and probably there are more good people than bad in this world, who believe that one country cannot just invade another country for no reason, but sometimes those left-wingers are just too much. Like jokes aside, I really do struggle to see what future they want for the world. Because there is a very simple truth: if Ukraine loses and russia wins, other dictatorial regimes will understand that you can just declare a war on your neighbour and no one will give a shit.
Yeah because that’s what happened in 2014 but at that time putin wasn’t prepared to launch a full-scale invasion, the revolution happened to quickly, it took him more that 3 month to amass the troops around Ukrainian borders in 2022. Or maybe he had some sort of genius plan, who knows, but the fact is: the world didn’t react to Crimea or Donetsk and Luhansk, and before that they didn’t react to Georgia and Moldova, or before that to Ichkeria.
Also the pacifism part, I think all intelligent people are and all Ukrainians (well of course not all but you know where I’m coming from) were pacifist. Everyone here has a family story from WW2, this country suffered so much, we never start conflicts but we also love what’s ours way too deeply. I think most of us would agree that the final moment of our pacifism was Bucha, that was a point of no return. Because this is where we understood that the main aim of this war is the destruction of Ukrainian nation - not a state as an independent entity but people. They were firing at civilians for no reason other than satisfaction and that is where pacifism ends because you cannot negotiate with people whose main negotiation tactic is a bullet.

yknow, italians getting salty over breaking pasta and putting ice in wine makes a lot more sense when you recognize that they've been having nazi get-togethers yearly to mourn the 1978's deaths of 3 nazi kids. Instead of throwing away your old clothes give them to others, friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, charities
Try to avoid buying plastic products. (I understand this can be impossible sometimes but if you have alternatives pls consider them)
Demand your government for environmental friendly politics and demand them now
Boycott brands that greenwash their products
Take care of your garden, plants, the grass at the park
Stop buying from brands who pollute water (fuck nestle)
Stop buying from brands who promote child labor and slavery (fuck nestle)
Demand for better public transportation
Try to fix the objects that break instead of buying new ones
Don't buy another car if yours works fine
Read what things are made of, clothes, foods etc
If there are protests join them!
3) Improve mental health
Less screen time
Unfollow anyone you think has a perfect life, a perfect house, a perfect partner, a perfect career, a perfect body. Unfollow any aesthetic blogs. Life isn't like that anyway
Anyone who tells you you can fix your life with just enough motivation is lying to you
You just need the right diet/outfit/skin routine/face symmetry/... Lies! ALL LIES!! You need a support system.

no but LITERALLY the other day I saw that stupid terfy post comparing women wearing makeup to hijabi women and I was like “what in the fresh fucking hell” it’s so weird how obsessed they are with policing how different women choose to dress, for whatever reasons they do it. I don’t understand how they can call themselves “feminists” while also implying that women covering their hair for religious reasons is “oppressing themselves for the male gaze” like can we take away the phrase “male gaze” from these dinkuses for like, idk, forever???? do they even know that religious head coverings in Islam are for Allah (PBUH)? I know I’m not an expert on Islam but seriously they can’t even be bothered to know the bare minimum of any culture or religion other than their own before mocking it.

Who wants to hear me rant about why I hate the Grimdark Trope. And why I think its stupid.

A civilization that eats itself tends to do so exponentially. But regardless of suspension of disbelief which for someone like me is shaky at best. I used to be really into the lore. But the whole grimdark bullshit eventually made me realize that it has no point. It is a pointless story that has no fun in it. Aside from technical cutouts and a type of hype that always attracts fascists and fascist enablers. It is a pointless story because of what it says. Don’t bother fighting even if you have to fight because you won’t make a difference anyways. Unless you throw away all of your humanity save for hate. Then you can be a catholic space nazi in power armor! Don’t bother trying to cooperate because aliens are either malicious and the cause of all problems or too stupid to talk to. And don’t try to bullshit your way into saying that, “ohh they’re aliens they don’t get the modicum of respect as a sapient being. As human you can’t talk to them like a human. Not so long ago we did that shit to each other. We still do it. One example of this is because we used to breed black people, my ancestors. Like literal animals. You’d take your black slave to see a veterinarian because you thought they weren’t human, they were an animal and you couldn’t talk to them like a human. And don’t get me started on this idea that human civilization can’t survive without a single fascist leader to unify them. If the Imperium were something worth fighting for and maybe if they understood what they were fighting against they would be competent but no its all massed charges and exterminatus. Plus stupid shit like not understanding technology. Battletech solved this with having few places that could actually make technology. The massed charges could be easily thwarted by a ditch with fucking pots or empty barrels in it covered in fucking turf. Exterminatus is just the imperium eating itself. Maybe they’re supposed to be some sort of mercy kill. Or maybe if they were smart they would burn every habitable world around them and make a galactic defensive line. Pull back with your population and fortify or at least do guerilla warfare. Something that the mass amount of their soldiers would excel at because most of them are probably small and poorly trained. Like the Russians during Napoleon’s Invasion. Maybe I’m missing something maybe the reason the imperium isn’t worth fighting for and such a piece of shit. Is because its inherently A fascist theocracy that doesn’t value life or tactics. Something that my own country is seemingly trying to be. With all the militias, and televangelists it seems familiar. Psychic powers can rip open a portal to basically hyperspace hell. But the imperuim has ways of making it impossible for psychics to fall the chaos of the warp. Why don't they use it for all their psychics? Now I’ve read enough about the lore as to how chaos gods are formed and let me tell you when I was A kid I was terrified about these fuckers. Especially one of them I won’t say which. Where are the good chaos gods born from the good of humanity? It happened with the Eldar with whats her name who got caged by nurgle. The other gods got eaten by slaanesh. Did the same thing happen with humanity’s good entities? Is rage, despair, and cruel ambition the only things that come out from humanity. What a stupid fucking idea what person could believe that. Even the people who have nothing in my country still use the kindness of strangers to support themselves. While the government treats them like literal vermin. For fuck’s sake telling people that human kindness is pointless is such a damaging and stupid idea. All the fruit that will bear is bitter little twats who hide and hoard stuff and are so self absorbed that they’re the only one worth anything. Seems a bit like the Elongated Muskrat. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? It was the year of our Lord, 1854. There was a coalition of various groups like the defunct “Whig Party,” the “Free Soil Party,” and the racist group, the “Native America Party,” aka: “The Know Nothing Party.” Note: The reason they were called, “The Know Nothings” was because whenever there was a terrorist attack, like a fire-bombed, Catholic church, they would answer police investigators’ questions with, “I know nothing about the firebombing.” That nickname could be applied to today's Republicans. Most of the rank and file members have low I.Q.s and know nothing about anything!
Let’s get something straight: Abraham Lincoln was not a true Republican. He joined the party to run against a Democratic candidate. It was for political strategy. Matter of fact, like George Washington, he despised political parties. Lincoln, in today’s Right wing slang, was pretty “woke.” Oh, one more thing...Lincoln had pen pals. Guess who his favorite was? Karl Marx. I told you he was woke.
Okay—we are now up to date. And today’s Republican Party? Very unstable. The upper echelon of the party are like fugitives hiding in safe houses known as Country Clubs. Initially, they were willing to let the White, working class, protestants in. Now, they regret it, as the patients are starting to take over the asylum. The rich Republicans erroneously figured that superstitious Christians would be perfect for class engineering; i.e.: as they got richer and richer, the poor would be told to pray to Jesus if they wanted their next meal. This is exactly the type of shit done in the Dark Ages.
The loud mouths of the party, like Marjorie Taylor Greene, do not even know what the fuck Fascism is, and yet, they advocate it. Recently, while spewing some garbage on Social Media about how the government is monitoring people and the type of meat they are eating, MTG totally missed the term “petri dish” by claiming that Bill Gates is growing meat in a “peach tree dish,” instead. More recently, a clip of her January 6th testimony revealed her substitution of the word “flagrantly” with “fragrantly” to describe the way in which defendants’ rights had been allegedly violated. For decades now, Conservatives have been advocating “Anti-Intellectualism;” well, she is a glaring and blatant example of it! Unsurprisingly, most Right wing sexists don’t mind her; she mirrors the “Stupid Blonde” persona; albeit, a much more dangerous one. 1950’s actresses Judy Holiday and Marilyn Monroe often played such a role. A “stupid blonde” would fire up the Conservative libido. “Teach me how to make love, daddy!” “Oh yeah, daddy will show you!” Baarrrff!!!!!!
So why do paleo-conservatives hate intellectuals, anyway? Certainly, not because they are advocating Left wing propaganda! It’s because objective truth discredits them. The biggest threat to the Right is not so-called “Leftism;” it is Objectivity. Conservatism goes against common sense or basic logic. So when they say, “The New York Times is Left wing,” they mean the material is too objective. The newspaper gives them negative press, but not because they are trying to destroy the Republican Party; they just fuck up way more than the Democrats do! Last year, The New York Times reported relentlessly about New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the Democrat. They took him down because of his alleged sexual misdeeds. So, is the New York Times Leftist? Well—is the pope Jewish?
Starting in the late 40’s, the Republican Party, along with other conservative scum bags called Democrats, went soft on Communism. This prevailed all through the Cold War. Now, high ranking Republicans are calling the Democratic Party “Communists” and “Socialists.” Yeah, sure they are. A lot of progressive Leftists are calling the Republican Party, “Fascists.” Well, they’re not, really—although, the real Fascists have gotten their foot in the door. The Democrats kept the real Communists out of their party starting way back in the 1930’s. Do you think rich Liberals would let Commies into their party? Do you think Rich Conservatives are going to let Nazis into their’s?
The only legislation the GOP is actuating is legalizing guns for blind people. Otherwise, except for WASPs who own oil wells, the GOP hasn’t done shit for the American people! This latest incarnation of the Republican Party has not exactly put the party in a state of catalepsy. The leadership has to change its membership from illimitable to exclusionary with a happy face. The central committee must exercise discretion and entropy to fix their party. The biggest mistake the party did was not giving the war against Fascism—otherwise known as World War 11—their vigorous support. Nowadays, the MAGA crowd is comprised of anti-Fascist, Fascist groups. So, are anti-Communists really Communists? That’s anti-intellectualism for you. Here is quote for all of you:

I used to know this woman who was a Chud. She did this officious thing, which was so fucking condescending! It was solicitous advice that made me crawl up the wall! It went like this: “If I was on the Left, I would do this and I would do that.” Well, with this, I turn the tables on her and say: “If I was on the Republican National Committee (RNC), I would put out a press release denouncing Fascism, white supremacy, and Christian Nationalism. If you don’t do that soon, the Libertarian Party, or maybe the American Christian Party will replace you. Who knows?”

I truly think the leftists forgot that Republicans got so far because THEY PLAY DIRTY. Did they forget the fiasco that was Bush v Al Gore? Forget all the racist BS Obama had to undergo and the many obstructions Republicans did to limit his power (Now I'm wondering if this wave of 'Roe v Wade being overturned was Obama's fault' from leftists was started by racist conservatives to divert attention. Hmmm)? Forget Trump's coup attempt?!?!?!?!?!? Republicans don't play by the rules.
I mean, we've established the fact that they struggle with basic reality and relevant political analysis of any type, especially if it involves actually blaming the Republicans for anything without finding a way to make it secretly be the Democrats' fault, so.... yeah. A lot of the early-twenties Twitter clout chasers are too young to remember Bush v. Gore, want to paint Obama solely as a "corporate centrist," and therefore act like that was the only reason his policies were so relentlessly obstructed and gave rise to the Tea Party and the rest of the white grievance backlash. We've also established that they're constantly vulnerable to right-wing psyops and bad-faith disinformation campaigns such as "not voting is a good thing and Hillary should be punished!", which was pushed HARD by the Russian-troll social media interference machine in 2016. It worked because certain segments of self-righteous leftists were predisposed to believe it anyway, and it exacerbated and increased their existing rhetoric. The right-wing slime machine is unparalleled at turning leftists and liberals against each other and knowing which weaknesses to exploit, for the precise reason so they don't get their shit together and vote in a consistent and organized fashion to stop the fascists. Welp.
This is likewise why it's a fucking stupid idea for Biden to make any deal with McConnell and actually think that Mitch will hold to his end of the bargain; he simply does not give a shit about honor, truth, precedent, previous statements, previous actions, or anything except seizing and consolidating Republican power as relentlessly as possible. Even if Biden does go through with this rumored nomination of an anti-abortion judge in Kentucky in order to buy off McConnell's opposition (and he's evidently only getting two US Attorneys for it, which is not a good trade for a lifetime federal judgeship), there's no reason to think that McConnell would honor the deal. He simply does not care what he said to you earlier; it was just a stopgap on his way to getting what he wanted. He will lie to your face and take as much as possible, and the Democrats, while they are a whole lot wiser to his game than they used to be, are still beholden to the fatuous idea that the American public really wants "bipartisanship." Obama tried it even after the Republicans made clear they would spit in his face every time; by the time he realized there was no working with them, he had lost Congress and it was too late to do anything but executive orders anyway. Biden has managed to get a few more bipartisan bills through the Senate, because he spent decades there and the old-school Republicans know him (and besides, he's an old white guy, so they don't have to look like they're doing the brown guy's bidding), but it's still an extremely one-sided relationship. It's infuriating to watch Biden mouth hoary cliches about Bipartisanship and act like the Republicans can be negotiated with in good faith, while they shamelessly fleece him for whatever they can get. Because as I said in an earlier post, he is too stuck in his past thinking and still believes there are "good people on both sides of the aisle" who genuinely have the political process and the country's best interests at heart. I would say, uh, no.
By now, Democrats know that Republicans can't be trusted and Republicans don't care about what anybody thinks except for God King Donald Trump. They have long ago given up trying to win a free and fair election on the merits of their ideas; they know that their ideas are total shit, toxically unpopular, and only benefit a tiny fraction of the most privileged white men in all of America. That's why they have turned so enthusiastically to attempting to rig elections, restrict voting rights, and pack the judiciary with partisan hacks. They don't give a shit what the average American wants, they don't want elections or politicians that reflect what's best for said average American, they don't believe in democracy, and they don't believe in going through a fair competition if it means they might lose. Cheating has been a fundamental part of their playbook for a while, and now it's become the only thing as they continue their jackbooted march to fascist authoritarianism. But, as ever, good luck getting the proud denizens of Cloud Cuckoo Leftist Land to understand that.

I can’t stand when people criticize my problems they never cared about until it affected them, or give me quick fixes. But I don’t know what exactly to think or say, and so they go one thinking they’re not hurting anyone.
I’ve lost control of my thoughts

And most times it feels like it’s all going to die with me; and I’ll be remembered as a problem who didn’t try hard enough and brought down good, selfless people.
Today it feels like a stupid itch that stays and pesters me, until I scratch so hard I’m in pain. All the while, I don’t get sympathy, just glares and remarks and silence. And the itch resurfaces.
She said I’d been banging the cabinet doors loud enough to be heard upstairs. I opened the cabinet, closed it in a manner appropriate for 2 am, and filled my glass for at least 20 seconds before she came down to get attention. That ugly ass face all screwed up — all of the oil in the world couldn’t save you from the fine lines coming your way. I’m never alone when I need to be. Fucking grown adult getting upset over stupid things. And you want to act like you’re going places, meanwhile I’m not? I hope she becomes so sick that she can’t talk or move. No more noise. Obviously, I’m not wishing anyone death, I’m not awful (but she is and deserves punishment, not an easy way out).
We’ve done this so many times before.
I bet moments of silence are as familiar to you as birthdays, and both lose their value the more they happen / you celebrate .

The world, and especially this country, is falling apart. It may be convenient to say that rhetoric is fear mongering. But already there are fascist militias on the rise, global warming will and is worsening food shortages. Now people are warning about the power grid failing, and given how many power outages we’ve had in the past year (mainly in summer), the threat seems more eminent. I live in a forest, I should be learning how to utilize it. I’ve had back and neck pain since my early teens, made worse by sitting or standing for long durations. My eyesight has gotten worse. I hardly remember anything from high school. I can’t focus for the life of me without it hurting my head. I don’t want to go back to an institution that conflates my worth with numbers and percentages. I don’t want to give years preparing for a life I’ll hate. They all will be disappointed in me anyway, but my parents are convinced this is necessary, and will bring me out of my shell if I talk to someone about my interests. I’ve told them explicitly that I don’t have interests. I haven’t left the house in years. With every extracurricular I had, I swore I was going to make a career out of it. Because I was only allowed one at a time, it didn’t leave much room to simply be a child and make discoveries. I felt bad when I quit, like I’d wasted their money and time. They won’t admit it but they’ve let me know. And despite all this, they expect gold stars for letting me have extracurriculares growing up, because that’s where the bar is set, right?
My sister is the school bully I never had. She inserts her self into any situation, and that’s bound to happen more with college related issues I face. She make anything an excuse to ridicule my intellect, ability, looks, and place in life. She’s done it before, even loud enough so our parents hear it, but they do absolutely nothing. This behavior has been developing for as long as I can remember. But rather than nip it in the bud, my parents yelled an punished both of us for our ‘spats’. And now there’s a sociopath/narcissist/whatever in the house 24/7, free to do anything without consequence. As a result, I’ve grown to hate the sound of knocking and I’m very conscious of how I walk and even talk; generally how I exist in a shared space, but that doesn’t stop me from beating myself up in private over any little thing. I’m tired of reminding myself I don’t deserve this when it’s 3 to 1, and no one’s in my corner. I’m tired of pretending things are fine when everything is falling apart, both externally and internally. I already feel dull and like a shell of a person, but also dirty. In my experience, people would rather turn away than try to understand. I don’t want to be in another place where I will be judged. I don’t want to have that out in the open for people to criticize and immediately forget. Nothing is going right, and to everyone else that’s just how I am, ‘God help them’.
When the world ends, will I drift on in the cold emptiness of space? Am I supposed to behave like nothing’s wrong here as well?

Leila is a college-age girl with no sense of direction or personhood, who has fallen behind every milestone possible. Despite this, she is pressured by her parents into enrolling in college to “explore her interests”, using her sketching hobby as a way to coax her. Constantly being reminded that she isn’t acting her age and struggling with a regressive memory (and intrusive thoughts?) has left her a deep guilt she doesn’t think she deserves to complain about. Spending day after day in her house is made more difficult by Leila’s older sister, who takes every opportunity to ridicule her. The sister drives in the nail the hardest when it comes to Leila’s memory. Their parents are aware of the rift between them, but tend to put the blame on both the girls or frame the sister’s hostility as tough love.
Fear of the unknown and consequence is muddled when Leila finally snaps(?). The road ahead is a story of community, will, and learning to open up and be seen.

When I was a child, I touched my mother’s straightening iron while it was on. I didn’t understand why, but I was in pain and it seemed unfair. Time passed, and though things have changed, they circled back to the starting point. I still don’t know why I’m in pain, and why it’s allowed.
