My mom’s vision for my future is me tied to a tree with unkempt hair, playing the guitar at a protest to save the environment. She has told me this for as long as I can remember.
My vision for my future is sitting under an apple tree in the arms of my spouse, surrounded by nature, waiting for the sunset so I can admire all the stars brought back since the end of light pollution. Our kids are giggling nearby, playing tag and making forts out of foraged materials.
They say that we are the generation who changes the world. They say they made us to solve these big ticket issues they only made worse by their complicity of raising children in a broken system. They never wanted to help change the world, they just wanted the pat on the back that comes with being the generation who “made” the generation that saved the world. They left the system to degrade, smiling ignorantly all the while, so they could push it upon us to fix it.
“When you’re old enough to make change the baby boomers will be dead,” she told me. You let them stay in power. You let them keep burning this world to the ground. You let them stew you in your own ignorance. If you couldn’t fix a broken system what do you expect me to do? I can’t live on my own, I can’t afford rent with the wages you pay me. I can’t “get a better job” no one is hiring me. I can’t fix the system you let rust, it’s snapped its gears and kept chugging along, digging into and killing this earth! Our earth! Our home! Our mother! You let her die! You killed her - with your ignorance, with your complicity, with your daydreams of a future you never put an ounce of effort into!
When my mother dreams about my future, she sees the revolution I must win.
When I dream about my future, I see the loving world I wish to give to my children.
You do not wait for the next person to fix what you already know is broken beyond repair. You get out your tool kit and you build a new one.

Just came back from the grocery store and the cucumbers cost 1,89€ per piece. The fucking cucumbers, guys. More expensive than the bananas. There used to be times, when I could have bought at least 3 cucumbers for that money!
The vegetables as a whole were so expensive that I had to give up on cooking at home.
How are poor ppl supposed to live healthily, if the vegetables and fruits are luxury items?!

Today, me and my mom went outside, not just to touch some grass, but to plant some beautiful cherry and wild cherry (sour cherry) saplings.
Look how cute they are.
Going outside on the blisteringly hot day was worth it because I will now care for them like they are my children!
