But when he's simply too swamped to do it all, Captain doesn't mind asking for help. She looked over at Tony and Loki, who appeared confused as to where the discussion was suddenly going. “Tony? Loki? You guys are dating.”
They stared at her.
She stared back.
Tony was the first one to speak, blinking in confusion. “Uh, no we’re not. We’re fake dating.”
“You aren’t fake dating, at this point you two are dating for real. Hell, you guys are basically married!”
Loki glared at her. “Excuse me, I believe that if I were dating Anthony, I would know.”
“We believed the same,” told him Thor, shaking his head but seeming to decide to join in with Sharon. “But you clearly cannot tell.”
“Big spoon or little spoon?” “Knife.”

Shawarma
"Babe, did you steal my shawarma?"
"I do not steal. I am not a peasant."
Maybe rephrasing the question would work in Tony's favour. "A million pardon Your Highness but did you help yourself to my shawarma?"
"Why would I pollute my body that has served me well for the past thousand or so years with dubious animal parts charred beyond recognition? To what end?" Loki waved a hand down the length of his torso. "My body is a church."
A vein twitched in Tony's forehead, more out of amusement than irk at the sudden disappearance of his mysterious meat wrap.
"A temple, baby," he corrected.
"That too," Loki said coolly. "And don't think I don't know you haven't logged it in on your food tracking app."
"Come on, Games, we're on vacation."
Loki raised an eyebrow. "Oh, did you leave your stomach behind in New York? I had no idea your species was capable of something as liberating as that."
"Yup," Tony chirped, and to prove his point, helped himself to a can of beer from the mini-bar. "And our livers too." He took a swig from the local brew and made a face. "Urgh. This is nasty."
"Will you cease complaining? We have moved hotels twice now and we haven't been here three days," Loki said, glaring at him over the brochures he had Tony pilfer from the reception desk.
"I was only gone a minute, and now it's gone!" Tony complained. "Do you know how hard it is to find a place that does good shawarma in this part of the country?"
Loki rolled his eyes. "And now you're being unnecessarily invidious."
"A rat."
"What?"
"A rat must have taken it."
"Tony, you probably ate it all and simply do not remember."
"Bambi, I may be old but I'm not that old," Tony muttered. His stomach chose the exact moment to give a loud rumble. "See? The stomach never lies."
Loki snorted inelegantly but said nothing, focusing on hiding his indulgent smile behind a cascade of accordion-fold brochure.
How he was not sick of ghost tours already was a mystery, one as mind-boggling as the case of Tony's missing dinner.
"Ahah!" Tony pointed triumphantly at what looked like a stain next to the trashcan that appeared fresh. "I see hot sauce. Someone's left a trail."
Tony dropped onto his hands and knees to look under the bed -
And immediately backed away with a shout, shuffling his bottom across the raggedy carpet and almost hitting the back of his head on the edge of the dressing table in his mad scramble to get away.
"What is it now, Anthony?" Loki asked, clearly exasperated.
"Buh - My - " Tony spluttered, gesticulating wildly with his hands.
"Oh, are we playing Charades?" Loki's excitement grew; it was clearly one of his favourite turndown services, possibly going back to Asgardian times. "Moth balls?"
Tony shook his head frantically, eyes darting crazily between his earnest boyfriend and the uninvited guest under the bed.
"Dust bunnies?"
Tony moaned, for there it was again, the voice he thought he had escaped, the voice only he could hear calling his name, "Anthony…"
"Loki." His voice wobbled when he could finally get his vocal cords to work. "We need to g-go."
Loki blinked. "Go where? At this hour? Were you not the one who insisted on staying inside after sundown?" A sniff. "Although I would not let myself be confined by such arbitrary schedule as the sun if I were a ghost."
The creature under the bed stopped shovelling shredded meat and bread into its mouth. It lifted its face, and coins of hot sauce dripped from its teeth onto the floor.
Tony wanted to scream but what came out instead was a squeak, "Let's just go!"
He couldn't believe that this was happening again! But there was no way he was going to leave Loki, not this time.
Just as Tony made a grab for his wrist, the Loki on the bed began to sing,
What is left of the flesh but ash and dust
Blow it out your eyes, hold your tears in place
Up, up and away they go…
And he who remains just smiles and says
Not-Loki poked his scraggy head out from under the bed and through lips smeared with red, whispered in glee, " What do you see?"
Run first, apologize later! Tony screamed inside,
"I love you, Lokes!"
- and did just that.
