MiqoMarch Day 05 - Hobby
When she's not helping every living soul in a 20 mile radius, hunting monsters out in the wild, or exploring every nook and cranny of the world; Arsay is keeping the Magitek Repeater -gifted from her friends at the Ironworks and armed with non-lethal rounds- in good use on the frontlines.

The best part about very early Mu-deok and her kill list is that she becomes friends with almost everyone she said she would murder.
Joo-wol? After the first meeting, they are besties.
Dang-gu? Adores her, tries to set her up with Yul. Cannot believe that she would murder anyone.
Jang Uk? Fully commits to training him before falling in love.
She's just looking for any excuse to love them all.

Favorite thing about Mr. G'raha Tia?
Ohhh that's hard to say 😭 there's so much I love about him... His love of reading is really endearing to me, for one thing. Scholar guy::))). But also his unerring belief in the wol is really sweet.. and how excited he is to hang out with his hero always. Sorry I'm rambling now but also the bit in endwalker where the people were turning into blasphemies(? Unsure if that's the right word but gestured) and he managed to stay calm and help other people from turning. And the fact he lead the crystarium so well. Really admirable in my opinion.. also the ear wiggles. The ear wiggles are extremely cute
(Sorry I did not mean to make this this long but oh well)

After a recent WoLship post, I’m going to mention this again:
The game does Not “push” romances at anyone. At all. You can get through the entire game without shipping a blessed one of your OCs with an NPC. Yeah, even that one, or that other, that may spring to mind as a “But--”.
All of the characters are written with variable amounts of friendliness and emotional availability. The devs have purposely made it so many different shipping combinations are possible, and have a “live and let live” policy in regards to all ships.
But they also simply made them viable options, not a mandate.
It’s why you don’t see “canon” ships between many NPCs, and none for the WoL. There may be hints of a ship tease--if you look for it. If you engage with media with shipper goggles constantly on, then you’re going to see it anywhere and everywhere.
And honestly, I think it’s kinda damaging to constantly look for romance--especially at the expense of other, just as meaningful deep connections between characters, like close friendships or found family. Or even just how one reads the rest of the plot at all, if only reading in terms of ships (especially when “requiring” that those ships are only validated by physical intimacy). It’s why there can be so much recoil/pushback on some characters and their actions when honestly, as written, they’re simply being eager and friendly and maybe, yeah, a tad too familiar in some cases, depending on person and situations.
Some characters may have more obvious crushes than others for sure, but that also doesn’t mean those crushes have to be romantic/sexual in nature, either; people have many kinds of crushes! Admiration for someone’s abilities and achievements (up to hero worship), their aesthetic, just who they are as someone you want to be friends with, are all possible. Heck, given the WoL’s fame and casual interactions, you can easily argue parasocial crushes.
Sometimes it’s not even a crush, it’s just someone’s weird and doesn’t always get social boundaries. And just cuz someone has a crush, romantic or otherwise, doesn’t mean it must be reciprocated. You control your OCs and their interactions.
Anyway. Not everything is a ship. Just cuz a character is charming and flirty, or admires another, or is overeager, or has a complicated past life, doesn’t mean they’re being “pushed on” WoL or a “canon” ship. The devs are also adamant about making each WoL’s story their own, and up to the players, with those connections and their meanings entirely determined by each individual.
As always, if feeling inundated by a ship, or if it’s a NOTP, or squicks you, filter and mute tags and phrases accordingly on social media to minimize exposure.
So ship and let ship--or simply don’t ship at all.

Prologue - The Green Word
The Green Word sounded nice at first. It was all I knew. I always knew that I would be thrown away to the forest once I experienced my 13th summer. Like all Viera boys. Even if that was the way, I couldn't but long for those old days when I lived in the village of my birth with my friends. Playing, helping around and listening to stories of old. Being able to read books about the world around us. Stories, songs and history. I was quite a bookbunny and found early on drawn to the magics and aether manipulation. Whenever I was not playing with other kids or reading the few books our village had, I was either helping around or practicing magic with our village mage. She humored my curiosity and I thank her for that.
But that was not anymore an option. I was bound to the life of solitude as all Viera males were. After years of learning the way of survival in the surrounding forest, my master, Neve, deemed that I would be ready to go on my own. I knew that was the tradition. That was the way. But... My tears wouldn't stop flowing on the first day I was set to be on my own. It wasn't the solitude I was afraid of. I actually enjoyed the silence of the forest. The beautiful greenery and wild life. The nature's embrace. But I felt uneasy. It was the lack of connection that hurt me the most. Like I should be somewhere else. I found myself always going closer to my home village. Watching them live their lives. ...but sometimes I ventured too close. It soon became a problem. To the point that I would be facing the sharp tip of the spear of our esteemed female soldiers frequently. To the point that they threatened me with exile. That I should abandon the Green Word.
I chose for them. I camped at the edge of my home forest for days gathering courage to set my foot on the road to the unknown world. The first step seemed like the hardest thing I have ever done. I just couldn't do it. Rather than take step forward, I side stepped like crab, or backtracked to face my home forest.
But my struggles were not unknown. My master, Neve, had come to visit me. He was informed of my situation. Or so he told me. For one night, he sat with me. Under the moon and the starlight. We never talked too much, and this time was no different. But I felt like there was always a mutual connection. Understanding and love. I could feel that he only wanted what was best for me. And like always, he parted with wise words to rally me.
"Risti. You don't have to worry about the Green Word. It has been spoken for centuries, is spoken now and will be spoken in the future. Find your own Word. Your own voice." That's what he said. I hesitated. He could sense it.
He sighed with loving frustration. He knew me too well. "Five years from now. Under the same full moon. Let us meet again. Here. At the edge of the forest. Tell me of your adventures. Your joys. Your tears. Your love. Your Word. This is the final assignment I bestow upon you as your master."
Those are the words I live by. Those are the words that pushed me to take my first step outside. The first word written in my story. Now... It didn't feel final. I had a goal. I was no longer afraid of the unknown because I knew my master waited for me. I wasn't alone.

What kinds of things can get Yllis to make silly eyes?
Ooh, thank you for asking! >:D
Jumping puzzles/climbing challenges. She loves climbing and jumping, she's very nimble, so if she sees a point high up where she wants to be, well. She just can't resist. Tip of her tail goes all jittery and everything.
Also particularly complicated tinkering projects. She'll give it a look-over and when she realizes it's going to be a Time, she starts pacing around with the end of her tail in her mouth so it's not lashing all over the place while she fiddles around with whatever it is that's piqued her interest.
ALSO whenever she and G'raha get into an infodumpy mood and they just keep feeding into each other. Like housecats taking turns watching each other play with the same toy or else bouncing off the walls together.

Tell me a sneaky or spooky or creepy or seksy etc., Tough Boy fact (like what does he store in his pomp; does he just wake up like that; etc)
spooky? fact: Tough Boy sleep talks and often times sleepwalks, leading him to wake up in weird places (like in open fields, on top of mossy rocks, dangerously close to the edge of high cliffs, the neighbor's kitchen, etc)
creepy? fact: TB can identify people by the way they smell. if he's met someone, even once, he's committed their specific smell to memory and can tell when they're in the area (however, he mainly uses this ability to avoid people >:3c)
secksxcksy? fact: he used to sleep in the nude at least until his sleepwalking became an issue. the last time he slept nude, he was woken up on the beach by an old mariner who thought he'd been dumped in the ocean but washed back ashore. the guy gave Hide his coat so he could go home without people spotting his schlong. (fun lil related fact: Hide now uses that coat when he goes on long ocean fishing voyages! it's v warm)
also! TB hides notes, maps, extra gil, cool rocks, tinctures, and sometimes sunglasses in his hair. his pompadour is pretty solid, considering the amount of products used to get it to hold its shape during long excursions. sometimes, it takes two or three washes to loosen up his hair, meaning that-- yes-- he usually does just wake up Like That™ 😎
