dear internet stop throwing pictures of beautifully toasted bagels slathered in cream cheese at me i don't have a toaster i don't have room in my teeny kitchenette for a toaster a toaster is a luxury here in japan as are bagels as is cream cheese

bagel places here that ask me "do you want that heated up" make me want to cry tears of joy even though all they mean is they're gonna stick the bagel in the microwave for ten seconds so it's slightly warm-ish but not enough to crisp up or melt the cream cheese a little

#food #closest bagel place to me has two options blueberry bagel or white choco chip #its fortunate that i love blueberry but anyway that shows the general mindset towards bagels here they're sweet snacks more or less #hard to find everything bagel or onion bagel etc #i havent been home since before covid but my primary reason for wanting to is i neeeed a nyc bagel #and real mac n cheese and real grilled cheese #and pasta that isnt spaghetti with something something cream sauce #oh and i really miss american bbq which means it sucks that i'll be going home in winter bahahaha #never expected to stay here as long as i have but otoh food cravings aside what real motivation do i have to live in the us #obvs my parents and i do want to see them and wish we could live close #but as for life in the us itself... living here is so far a lot easier in a multitude of ways #the biggest downside is my being a foreigner. gotta reapply for that visa every few years #and even though i speak japanese every day the business-style japanese of workplaces is totally different so im limited in terms of jobs #aaaand when im home in the us i have the opposite problem... i miss japan and japanese food instead xP #why cant i teleport that'd solve everything #fizz's life #why are people reblogging this??? X'D

literally everywhere here has upped their prices more and more over the past couple years, so how the heck does saizeriya stay so darn cheap?

i just went and had delicious veggie pasta and a side. anywhere else, the side would have been at least 500 yen (and I bet it would have been a smaller portion too!). and the pasta would have been at least 1000 probably more. So that's a minimum of a 1500 yen dinner.

Know what I paid at Saizeriya? 840. Like... half what I'd expect anywhere else. And the portion sizes are good!

Even McDonald's here is more expensive. If I went to McDonald's and got a double cheeseburger set, it costs 930 yen now. Used to cost 650. It's not even cheaper to forego the set - for whatever reason buying the set with a drink you don't want is cheaper than buying things individually (a mystery!).

I'm flabbergasted. If everyone's having such a hard time that they've had to almost double their prices, why is Saizeriya still so dirt cheap?

The only cost-saving measure I've seen is that they have fewer servers now because your order by QR code. But pretty much everywhere has tablets on the table or a QR code to order with. (I hate the ones which rely on you having an up to date phone... because I don't. One place I go to has a restaurant phone which they lend to customers who can't use their own to order, but Saizeriya didn't. Of course they took my order by hand like "the old days," but even if that's a normal part of protocol, it does make you feel like an inconvenience... an inconvenience who's spending money at their restaurant 9_9)

I'm watching Double Life bigb's perspective, and episode 3 was... such a doozy. Like honestly, I was so flabbergasted. I feel like I have to rewatch it again sometime later. Cause I didn't really understand bigb's motives?????

Like for the desert duo. It's pretty clear. Grian cheated on Scar. Scar found out when he was on a horse walking by outside of Homewreckers house. Grian was intentionally keeping his relationship with BigB a secret.

But BigB cheated on Ren, too?? BigB did eventually tell Ren that he met up with his secret admirer. BigB DID went around Ren's back to meet Grian since he didn't tell Ren beforehand. When Ren temporarily left the game at the relationship ranch, BigB was like, "omg I feel so free now." HUH?????

Then they made up in ep4???? Very easily at that?????????? It feels like they didn't really acknowledge what happened in the relationship ranch. But now Ren knows that BigB is using his secret admirer as a resource. Grian gave a lot of valuable gifts to BigB and not the other way around. Whether or not BigB has feelings for Grian or not is another talking point (I think he does? based on pure vibes only but ANYWAYS).

I just. I don't know. I don't know anymore. I'm going to dissect the box boys relationship when I finally finish submitting this godforsaken school assignment.

Also, on a side note, the rp felt so serious for Ren and BigB when they were at the relationship ranch. I haven't watched Ren's perspective, but Bigb's put so much dramatic music into it. It feels like I was listening to an actual couple therapy. They were REALLY playing into their character as a couple 😭

Edit: misspelt words + my opinion if BigB had feelings for Grian or not.
