I wonder how much of a month I could sleep for. Like if I decided that for the next month I would simply sleep for as long as humanly possibke. Could I practically just skip a month of my life? What would it do to me? Could I max out on sleep and be unable to fall asleep again for a while? Would it be nice or super boring. What would my dreams be like?

Hi Fishblr people, I need help

So I wanted to ask for advice. I have two goldfish(?) that I may or may not have rescued from my uni because they were used for an experiment. Every other fish used in the experiment died, with only the two survivors. They are Brobbles and Yoimiya. I knew my neighbour had fish, I tried to ask if they wanted these two but they already had six full-grown fancy goldfish (I don't know what kind) and could not take them. So the responsibility kinda fell to me. I bought a tank. I know 20 gallons is the minimum, but I was forced to take this 30x25x30cm tank (it's a 5-gallon, I think?), and I know it's been stressing both of them. It's way too small, I know. Brobbles is really aggressive and territorial and nips and chases Yoimiya and I feel bad for Yoimiya because her(?) tail is cut short. I really was hoping to get that 20-gallon tank because I knew this would happen, but unfortunately, I couldn't. Is there any way I can lessen the stress? Make Brobbles less aggressive or anything? Yoimiya is struggling with Ich I believe and I've already bought a heater (it's shipping for a few days) and added in a teaspoon of no-additive rock salt (could've been aquarium salts but from what I saw, rock salt was fine as long as there aren't any additives), changed the water and added a few drops of methylene blue to it too. I know I probably shouldn't have taken them in being so underprepared, but I thought them being stuck in a water bottle left to die and seeping into chemicals was probably not the life they deserved. I just felt bad for them, and now I really truly do want them to feel better. Please be nice to me, I'm really a beginner. I just want these little fish to know life better than being stuck in a lab and suffocating in chemicals.

You put a lot of emphasis on Adam making choices but I'd argue that Victor forced his hand by abandoning him

Victor does bear some responsibility for his persistent refusal to acknowledge Adam's humanity, that definitely didn't help but it's fundamentally important to Adam as a character that he be treated like he has a will of his own. Part of being human is having agency, people have been outcasted and shunned since the beginning of time, rarely do they choose to go on a killing spree. Regardless of why he made it, this was Adam's choice.

Adam may not have believed he had other choices but after a certain point I feel like he stopped caring. He went the route of, "If it's a monster you want then that's exactly what I'm going to be and you are all going to regret it," which I honestly kind of love. In my version of the story I decided that he didn't stop after Elizabeth, if anything it escalated and he stopped valuing human life because it never valued him. He declared war on mankind and stuck to that mindset, so I toy with the possibility that he may have burned some settlements to the ground and killed indiscriminately towards the end of the book. As Adam crosses lines I tend draw him more and more grizzled looking and by the time he hits the arctic there's no softness left to his appearance.

A question I really like to ask in regards to the creature is not so much whether he can be redeemed but whether he should be. Did he cross a line at some point that made him unsalvageable? If one becomes a monster can they still ask to have their humanity acknowledged? Despite all of this I believe that after the death of Victor Adam still hopes for a connection to humanity and redemption.

And I believe he'll continue to seek it out, the line "Life, although it is an accumulation of anguish, is dear to me," says a lot about Adam as a person. I don't believe he's simply going to give up on trying to live, I don't think he has it in him. He loves being alive too much, even when it's painful and difficult. Victor made him resilient and I believe that applies mentally as well, so I don't buy that the creature actually wanted to destroy himself.

I like to think Victor's death was a turning point for Adam, a hard lesson learned. In a way Victor was the only person Adam was close to. He spent so much effort getting Victor to chase after him and keeping Victor alive so that the chase could continue because that's the only relationship with another person that Adam has ever had. When he loses it it's the first time Adam has to feel loss and grieve. And he does grieve. I believe that ironically, only by losing the very person he was seeking validation from he finally understood the desolation he'd been inflicting on others. Adam became his own victim and like it was Adam's choice to embrace evil it's also his choice to abandon it. Choice is, after all, the burden of humanity. We have to allow him that much agency otherwise the possibility for his redemption is meaningless.

Putting all the blame on Victor is unfair to Adam because if we take away his free will to choose evil then we strip him of his ability to choose good later down the road. Redemption is a huge theme for my version of Adam and before I let him have that I want to walk him right up to the moral event horizon, look it in the face and decide for himself that this isn't what he wants.

Adam can be offered second chances, but at the end of the day his salvation, like his damnation, rests in his own hands.

Now back to thinking-

Im really curious about like every thing that happened in this, i feel like so much was told yet so little due to not having full context as to why Solomon was telling this to Mc (if he is even telling this to Mc).

While its obvious the demon in the story is Barbatos it makes me wonder if Solomon himself might be a stand in for the king or human in the story?

Him being the king would definitely make sense with the whole ‘Wise King Solomon’ thing that hes got going on and I think if Solomon does turn out to be one of the humans it will be the king, but I also think it would be interesting if he ended up being the crying human. Now to my knowledge we don’t know for how Barbatos and Solomon came to make their pact but I can see that being how they first met. (I know the human looks too feminine to be Solomon but I am choosing to ignore that for now because i just feel like there is going to be some crazy plot twist in all of this…actually backtracking a little it could be a younger Solomon before he became immortal?)

What if Solomon happens to be both humans?

I watched back at the transition between the king being talked about and the human being talked about and it seems very possible that it was a subtle transition in time, so perhaps we were being shown more lore on the history between Solomon and Barbatos’s relationship.

With the king we’re first shown where Solomon ended up after meeting Barbatos, we see that Solomon is grown and powerful, self assured and ‘wise’ after he had earned Barbatos trust and formed their pact and then the scene transitions back in time with the crying human. when the two first met, where Solomon is younger, likely before he was even immortal and not yet this wise and powerful person.

Perhaps meeting Barbatos is a reason Solomon became a sorcerer? From what Ive gathered the existence of Demons and Angels isnt common knowledge in the human world so maybe Barbatos was Solomon‘s first contact with a non-human being???

So I actually looked this up and the best answer I got was “camouflage”? Although! Some flounder do eat small crustaceans and juveniles eat other fish! So technically, some are actually predators. Though mostly they eat zooplankton, which I guess is still a type of animal? Overall, I’d say the scientific answer is inconclusive.

Or maybe it’s just cause they’re all silly goofy dudes! Who knows!

side note. im just upset now about how it feels like my work is no longer belonging to me. I dont get to choose what it is put into. it is now a comodity for whoever believes that they have a right to my work.

When I work in an art-based industry, what I produce will not be my own. It will be owned by another company who hired me. I could spend hours on it and pour my life force into what I create, but it could be held by the company and not released or released and removed from my ownership.

Now tumblr is the same. now every website is the same. You never have control of what you post forever. You never get to choose what happens to your online work. But now I know that what I post will go directly into the content meatgrinder that is AI technology. I will not get to choose this. I will not get to own my work any more. Even if I opt out, even if thousands of users opt out, not everybody will. Not everybody will know. Not everybody will want to. Not everybody will be bothered.

Theres a difference between individuals reposting my work onto pinterest and an entire blog being fed into AI. Theres a difference between a single human feeding artwork that isnt theirs into AI and an automatic process in which my data, my artwork, my life is being fed into AI. I will never own my own work again unless I keep it directly next to me and never share it.

Im debating pulling all of my work from this website.
