Enlightened Byleth Eisner icons ~ Day 2 (Favourite Avatar) of @elwindss’ Fire Emblem Edit Prompts!
Byleth is so aesthetic as both the Enlightened One and just normally, I’m kinda jealous lol. Also idk if it’s just me but they give off enby or genderfluid vibes. (The sleepy is getting to me oh no)

I was actually wondering something today. Could Hopes have been the result of how the work was split when it came to Houses? IS handled Silver Snow, while the rest of the routes were done by KT iirc. It might explain some of the things from the interviews.
KT claims that Houses had three routes, not four. The fact they worked on three of the routes while IS handled the other could make this a case where they knew the parts of Houses that the worked on, and are unfamiliar with Silver Snow and it's true nature. Just look at the comment they made that Houses had no central route.
Houses was designed with the idea that the player's lord character would betray them, and as a result fighting said lord would result in it being the hardest route to complete emotionally. As such, the worldbuilding was done in order to support that route, meaning that siding with said lord goes against what the setting is telling the player. This was so central to the game's design that the save icon for that route, Byleth's flag, was stated to be the game's Fire Emblem by the director. This route is Silver Snow, the main story the game wanted to tell.
If you take away that route and instead work off of three routes based around the three lord characters of the game, what do you walk away with? You have Byleth serving the three lords, each guided by their own beliefs, and none of these routes were central to the development of Fodlan. That the BE route isn't about the player being betrayed by their lord, but instead joining her as she conquers all of Fodlan. Her ideals might be challenged by Dimitri, but the player loses the option to fight reject those ideals themself. Likewise, the Church loses it's place in the story, as going by SS it's meant to be the main hero faction that Byleth themself leads with Claude and Dimitri being potential allies. Byleth's own importance is then diminished, making the three lords the stars of the game and Byleth merely an accessory to them, while the BEs are simply the kids who will unify Fodlan.
Suddenly, KT saying that Houses was morally grey, right and wrong being a matter of perspective and there not being a central route, it starts to make sense. And with that flawed knowledge of what the game was saying, it may have even resulted in them writing Claude ooc because, to them, Claude joining Edelgard made more sense because of his hostility towards the and if right and wrong were a matter of perspective like they claimed.
They missed the point of the game they were working on because they didn't work on SS, and the spinoff showed it.

Oh dear. I don't love fandom arguments, but some folk in the engage fandom are getting a bit upset about which Alear is canon.
First, its (yet another) multiverse world, so either is fine.
Second, what I love about this game is that you can pick either gender and nothing changes, so it really doesn't matter, and you can pick whoever you feel comfortable with.
But here are the arguments for both.
first M!Alear:
He was in the first released trailer.
When Fire emblem picks a protagonist to represent their game, they have in the past gone for the male one, like with M!Byleth, and have had more male protagonists.
He's in the shonen jump manga.
Tumblr media
He's in the forefront of the front cover
Tumblr media
second, F! alear
She was the first released in FE heroes (and the icon for the game in the 1000 heroes celebration)
she was in the first leaks and earliest adverts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IS seems to have developed a pattern in choosing of genders for their protagonists, M! Robin, F! Corrin, M! Byleth, the next in line is F! Alear.
Nintendo mangas have never been considered 'canon' before, more like love letters to the games
She's in most of the in game tutorial pop ups
But, it doesn't actually matter, I prefer one, others prefer another. And I get being upset seeing lots about the blorbo that isn't specifically your blorbo, but I think its pretty even here. If this feels important to us, lets spread information about it properly, weighing up either side of the argument. they're both freaking adorable.
Feel free to add anymore evidence to whichever side you'd like, this isn't an exclusive list!
