howdy!! do you rewatch your own work? if so, how often? im wondering if it has the same "artist just sees faults with what they create" thing, or if youre able to appreciate past projects the way they deserve
I don't, typically... usually, by the time we're finished with post production, I've seen the thing so many times that I'm thrilled to stop watching it. I'm either sick of it, or just feeling like it doesn't belong to me anymore. There are other reasons, too - Hill House was a traumatic production for me, for example, I have a lot of complicated emotions woven into it, so I haven't felt ready to rewatch that one since before it aired. Maybe in a few more years.
Somewhat recently, I've revisited a few of the older movies with my eldest son, who is 13 now. He's basically as old as my career itself. We've watched Oculus, Hush, The Midnight Club (which he LOVED, proving it worked for our target audience) and Ouija: OOE together, and each of those screenings was a really cool experience. His reactions and questions were really fascinating, and I felt like I was able to see those movies anew through his eyes. That's the closest I've come to feeling like I was really seeing them, and that's only because so much time has gone by for those. I watched the Director's Cut of Doctor Sleep a few years back at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado. It was part of a live NoSleep Podcast event, and that was the first time I'd seen that movie since it was released. It was also the first and only time I'd ever seen the Director's Cut with an audience. That was a really special screening and it meant a lot to me.
I haven't yet had the guts to revisit any of the TV series other than Midnight Club. As my kids get older, I'm sure I'll watch them all with them. The one I'm most excited to see is Midnight Mass, which remains my favorite of the shows. I haven't seen it since before it came out - I remember the last day of post on that show, watching down each episode with final mix and color. That's a series I wish I could actually watch like a viewer at home, and while I'll never truly be able to do that, I look forward to looking at it with some real distance.
There are a few of the older projects I'd be curious to watch now. I wonder how Absentia holds up - I was such a baby when we made that movie, and it's been so long. I imagine I could watch that today and have a really trippy experience. I also haven't revisited Before I Wake in a very long time, and I always really loved that script. The movie was a rough road, and my feelings were mixed by the time it finally found its finish line (Relativity Media really beat that one up), but that could also be a really interesting viewing experience at this stage of my career.
But generally, each of these movies is a journey, and once the journey is over it's tough to ever really go back. There's little point, and moving forward feels like a matter of survival. The "finished product" is only the tip of a large, deep, labyrinthian iceberg for me. It's impossible to only see what's on the surface, no matter how hard I try.
(Interesting side-note: The only exception I've found to this rule is The Life of Chuck. We just finished post production on the movie, and I've watched it dozens and dozens of times now - but I've never grown tired of it, not even a little bit. That movie is something special, and I am eager to watch it again - and again - and again. I don't know that I'll ever want distance from that one; in fact, watching it brings me a sense of joy, comfort, and safety.)

He didn’t feel human anymore. He lost his ability to walk.He didn’t remember how felt at first.he felt nothing in his legs.
He still had you though! You stayed by his side during the whole healing process. You comforted him when he would cry about not feeling human anymore because he can’t walk.
You made him feel better by just being there with him the night of it.You didn’t care if you had to sleep in a shitty ass hospital chair. You would do it 30 more times if you needed to.
when Simon was finally released,He had to resort to doing online school as a way of finishing up college. You helped him with his work if he needed it and you would basically spend the night every day at his apartment.
He was so thankful to have you.You did everything you could.Clean,Cook and helped him bathe. It was a tough process for him but he managed on because he had you by his side.
He remembered the time you had helped him make his mom’s special chicken Alfredo. You never understood what was so special about it but Simon insisted that is was special because his mom added just a pinch of hot sauce and for some reason he found that special.
You didn’t put up much of a fight as you helped with pouring and mixing while Simon sat and instructed you on what to do.You ended up making it just like the way his mom used to make it which caused him to slightly cry before finishing and licking the plate clean.
He also remembered when you had gotten a pack of stickers from a dollar store to decorate his wheelchair so it didn’t look so boring. You placed the colorful stickers everywhere that needed some color.
“Do you really need to put hello kitty and her weird friends all over my wheelchair?”Simon asked as he watched you work.you shot him a glare before huffing.
“Yes!and her friends aren’t weird!they are actually very interesting and just for you saying that I’m gonna make you rewatch the entire hello kitty fairy tale series with me!”You say as you place the last sticker on his nose.
He grumbled before sighing in defeat.by the time you were done Simon had nearly fell asleep. You stood up off the ground and clapped at the results of your work.
“Simon! I’m finished!!”You exclaimed as you grabbed your phone and took pictures of the sighting for yourself.Simon admired his new wheelchair before smiling at you.
“I guess it looks better than a plain old wheelchair”He replied before pushing himself back and forth to see how it looked.”See now your boring plain old wheelchair is now hello kitty and her amazing friends themed!”You say as you smile.
Simon let out a small sigh at the memories before looking around the empty apartment. You had ran to go get his favorite snacks for the movie night you two had set up.He looked over at the book he never had time to work on since you had distracted him from the bad thoughts.
So what if the book was supposed to help him?it barely did and your company and silly antics was way better then some silly old book.Simon made a mental note to lock it away in the closet to dust up and be forgotten about.
He had you,You were the only thing able to distract him from the hell he was in.

Gonna take a short break from the internet to do a rewatch of friends and some other movies because this one hit hard.
I first watched Friends at my friend's house, and we watched The One Where Everybody's Late. I don't remember too much of my reactions to that episode, other than that I really liked the awkward sarcastic one. I told my dad when I came home that day that I watched Friends, and he got so excited, and he asked me who my favorite character was. I didn't remember their names at all (especially not Chandler) so I just said "The funny one" and my dad knew.
But I didn't keep watching Friends, because I had other shows to watch. I still knew the general idea (who couldn't), but I didn't have the time or attention span to watch ten seasons of a show.
And then my parents divorced. I was living with my mom, visiting my dad on the weekends, and I needed some comfort.
So I watched the first episode of Friends. Then the second. And before I knew it I'd finished the first three seasons and I was in love with this show.
Now, when I started the series, I knew I was going to like Chandler. He fit the bill for the type of character I gravitated towards perfectly. But something about the stories he was written into, his relatability, his quick wit, and Mathew's truly incredible delivery of each and every line, it all made me fall in love (and my crush certainly didn't help).
And then I watched season four, and the final episode had Chandler and Monica get together.
Up till that moment, I liked Chandler because he was relatable, and that made it easy to laugh at his struggles. I loved him because I could so easily imagine myself making the same mistakes, and using the same quick wit to avoid confronting my flaws.
But in season four, right at the last episode, there was a shift. Chandler's character went from a relatable figure who was unable to find a true sense of happiness, to one who was on the road to a life filled with it.
Soon, I watched Chandler find love with Monica, find peace with his quirks, reconnect with his family, find a fulfilling career, and start a family.
And as I watched this character, who I found so relatable, find himself, I realized that I could do that too.
And that gave me hope.
I wrote a Friends fanfiction (which I won't link because it's 18+), and it was my best work. I got so many of my friends here on tumblr into friends (hey @catboyrichardkarinsky ). I found a new way to connect with my teachers, friends, and even therapists.
All thanks to Friends. All thanks to this awkward, sarcastic, hopeless, hope-filled, character.
All thanks to Chandler.
One thing that took me so long to do was finish Friends. Not because I was slow in watching it, but because I didn't want to watch that last episode. I didn't want to say goodbye to these characters.
But you have to say goodbye. Because that's how life works, whether someone told you that or not.
So, goodbye Mathew Perry. You and your character changed mine and so many other people's lives, and we will all miss you. You will always be our Friend.

I wound up watching a lot of Netflix when I was sick in bed which is wild for me - I typically go months without watching any new movies much less new shows. Video games are more my medium of choice.
I think among everything I've seen, the Puss in Boots Last Wish movie was just as good as everyone said. I mean, for what it was. What an awesome cast of characters, some of the coolest designs I've seen in an animated movies in years and years.
For shows, Fall of the House of Usher was just extraordinary. I had been meaning to check that director out and I'm glad I finally got the chance to. What a triumph of acting, directing, and story-telling. It was smart without being pretentious, flashy without being vapid. Tonally brilliant with its miserable premise, black humour, and its menu of agendas. I actually finished the series and immediately wanted to rewatch it from the first episode, it was that tremendous, that layered and tightly composed.
Instead I watched Midnight Mass and... woo. Whiplash. I was so irritated by it that I'm going to hold off watching that director's other stuff for a while, lol.
House of Usher though, everyone check that out. That is the good shit.

Wanted to do a big pretty artwork for the Hilda finale, but I'm sick and have no ideas and motivation. So here's something simple.
Awful rant about the show, if you're interested: (spoiler free)
I started watching the series back in late 2021, right after the movie was announced. (Which was just my excuse to watch it.)
It was surprisingly good. I was grinding a Royale High event through the entire thing and I still enjoyed it a lot. I think I watched one half of the movie before midnight on new years eve and finished it after. I went out of my way to avoid my family to watch it. I was so hyped, and it was so great. Probably still my favorite movie to this day. I've had two phases where I watched the movie for 5 days straight and never got bored, and I still rewatch it regularly. I LOVE HILDA AND THE MOUNTAIN KING ‼🗣🔥💯
The series itself means a lot to me. I watched it in a difficult time in my life. (It's gotten worse 😊) It was so nice and calm. There weren't even any references to the real world and no fourth wall breaking. It was so nice for me to escape into that little world without any reminders of my own big and scary world, and it still is.
Hilda will always hold such a special place in my heart. I think season 3 was great, and the last episode was awesome.
Also, what do you mean it's been 2 years? Has it really? You sure? Are you for real????
I wanna go back to december 2021 I was so much happier than I am now 😭😭
Thanks to Luke Pearson and his gang for bringing this series to life and giving it a wonderful ending, I will never forget it! Def gonna watch it with my future children. (My reptile collection)
Thank you for listening to my autism rant 👍

Hot take ig but I personally I think the Saw franchise was so fun and even the later movies are a fun watch and yeah they’re obviously feeding off the popularity of saw 2004 even though the literal namesake is dead but the movies are still pretty cool just as movies. I like Hoffmann and I think the focus on characters in the later movies was interesting at the very least. To be fair I haven’t finished the whole series, I’m on the final chapter rn and I might change my mind when I rewatch them, but that’s just my thought rn.
Also maybe because I have rarely laughed as hard at a movie as I did when in Saw VI John was literally describing the issues with the healthcare system and in the middle of this gravelly, serious monologue, he just goes 👹🤠PIRANNHA🤠👹and it pans to him smiling at the tank in bliss

AnimateTimes movie interviews [❤💙💛]
Rita x Kaguragi x Jeramie (July 30)
highlights of the movie + guest cast
Change in Taisei
Rita's burden and with Morfonia / ep10, 16
Kaguragi with Racules and Suzume
Your character in summer
individual pics + translation under cut
Adventure Heaven is finally opening on July 28!
Hirakawa: In this movie you will meet a new side of Rita never before seen. Filming the movie is a fresh experience for me from start to finish.
Kaku: We will touch on Kaguragi's past in the movie. It will be very important for him in the future.
Ikeda: The coronation scene we shot with a crowd of extras. It is our biggest and grandest scene yet.
The guest cast including Ms. Sakura Ayane as Debonica is impressive too.
Ikeda: Ms. Sakura has a distinctive method of vocalization. When the two of us talked in private and she said "Royal Arms", I was stunned.
Is Ms. Sakura's "Royal Arms" cool?
Ikeda: It's very powerful, very cool indeed.
Kaku: As a king, you have to be cool.
Hirakawa: I didn’t get to meet all of the guest cast in person, but Mr. Nakamura Shido (Rainoir) has a solemn and powerful presence just from being. He brought on set a positive tension that alerted everybody "the movie is about to start!".
In the movie, Gira finally becomes King of Shugoddom. Has the star behind Gira, Mr. Sakai Taisei changed in any way?
Kaku: He's getting less nervous in public appearances. He'll still say "I'm so nervous!" even now, but he's getting better at relaxing into the role and just enjoy the show.
Hirakawa: The Taisei I saw is the one who's super nervous during filming.
Kaku: In the scene with Rainoir?
Hirakawa: Yes! His lips turned purple (laughs). "It's method acting for the Land of Death!" he said, but I think he's just nervous. Recently, he seems to have accepted his role as the cute mascot.
Ikeda: Since I only joined the cast later as the sixth ranger, I haven’t seen his nervous era. But I see where you're coming from about him turning cute.
Hirakawa: When we used to call him cute, he'd say "There's no such thing!", now he just nods, "Um..."  (laughs)
Everyone: (laughs)
Ikeda: He might be somewhat happy to hear that.
Please tell us more about the main series as well. In Episode 16, Rita's past is revealed.
Hirakawa: I think through Episode 16, the audience can now feel Rita’s burden. Revisiting the past, we reaffirm Rita's resolve and sense of responsibility, as well as pushing forward in the mystery that is Fury of the Gods. This development will impact the TV series going forward.
How do you see the relationship between Rita and Morfonia?
In Episode 10, we saw a change in the relationship between each king and their aide. Rita also got somewhat closer emotionally with Morfonia. I believe the guard around Rita’s strained psyche has lowered a little. They won't have a heart-to-heart conversation just yet, but the distance between them has been shortening since. In real life, we are becoming closer friends as well, that will sure be a positive influence to our interaction in the story.
On the other hand, Kaguragi has a lot of mature bargaining that hide his true intentions with characters like Racules and his younger sister Suzume.
Kaku: It is fun to bargain with Racules. Yano-chan put his predictions of the future in his performance, I too kept that in mind and considered many aspects in my own. Suzume is both cute and a strategist, I find her duality interesting.
What if your character goes on a summer break?
Ikeda: Jeramie would sleep through it, wouldn't he? "What I thought was an afternoon nap, took a whole year. Happens to anybody." He did say that once... When he wakes up, it'd probably be winter. (laughs)
Everyone: (laughs)
Kaku: Kaguragi is a festival man. He'd for sure host a big summer festival in Toufu.
Hirakawa: Rita would just marathon "Together with Moffun", wouldn't they?
Kaku: Absolutely! Rita would rewatch every episode up to now.
Hirakawa: There are 4000 episodes, it'd be a miracle to finish it before the end of summer (laughs).
(laughs) Moffun is not slowing down with his merchandise release either.
Hirakawa: It's amazing, isn't it! Without a word you grew interested in its shape and voice. It's just that Rita's imitation is a little different though...
I think Rita's imitation of Moffun is adorable! At the end, please tell our readers the highlights of the movie.
Hirakawa: Surely it's being able to see a new side of Rita different from the one we know so far. Even the details in the background carries meaning, I would love for you to see it on the big screen, and two or three times if you can!
Kaku: The movie is presenting a whole new world, with imagery much grander than the ones in the TV series. The characters will face their pasts, and the audience can learn more about them as people. This is the part I find myself enjoying.
Ikeda: In a trip to the Land of Death, there is much to think about on each of the king's attitude and way of life. It adds another layer to the world of King-Ohger too. Please look forward to the movie.
Thank you very much!

I was rewatching DSOD, and a few scenes stood out to me now that I've refreshed a bit by doing a reread of the manga in JP.
Tumblr media
Was Father Bakura's obsession with finding the Ring similar to Pegasus' interest in the Egyptian belief of life after death because of Cyndia's passing? Since the movie is compliant with the manga, I wonder if Father Bakura wanted the Ring to wish for the resurrection of his wife and Amane.
Shadi says,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The owner's already been decided, and it's long been Ryou. Really dissecting the grammar here, but to become the owner, Ryou should've then passed trials. What trials? Trials to test his resilience, perhaps? Like overcoming the deaths of his mother and Amane? Is that resilience the reason why the Ring didn't immolate him? Hence, accepting him?
And finally,
Tumblr media
Should this explain Ryou's increasingly bizarre actions concerning the Ring as the series went on? Most especially when he helped Bakura create the diorama.
As far as we know, Ryou's diorama-making skills are his own. It doesn't transfer to Bakura when he takes over. The Ring isn't like the Rod either, where it can brainwash Ryou to do its bidding. Also, if we're to believe that resilience was one of, if not, the deciding factor to become the Ring's bearer, then the Ring is ultimately unable to corrupt Ryou like it did with Mani and Diva.
So something definitely happened there. For Ryou to act of his own volition and collaborate with Bakura. The Items do have an affinity with their owners after all.
Perhaps Ryou knew more than he let on? Or maybe he had an agenda of his own? Shounen Jump really shouldn't have meddled and rushed Takahashi-sensei to finish the Memory World arc...
Anyway, I wonder if Bakura told him everything about the Kul Elna massacre to convince Ryou to help him exact "justice" ("revenge", really, with a twist of a word and omission here and there, which is par for the course for Bakura, seeing as how he interacted with Ryou post-Monster World).
On that note, I don't quite recall Yugi knowing about Kul Elna... Makes me wonder if anything would've changed if he did.

Rewatching Ep 1-4 :)
First of all, I'm again amazed and amused by the fact that if they split into 2 groups and guys from one of them walked on their feet and just... didn't stop, they would finally reach civilization and call for help 😂 The road to this house is sentient, I swear, sometimes it's good and passable for a large car, sometimes it turns into some forest path where there is barely room for a scooter, oh, and there is also a conveniently collapsed bridge. Which other people know about, i.e. civilization AND HELP is not THAT FAR. 😭
How Phee gently holds White's hand while preparing for the filming. How does he treat him at all, how kind and caring he is. 🤔
Jin admitting he is a coward. 🤔
I wonder about the divine quality of the murderer(s) 😆 How mobile he is, how he appears often and in different places, twice he appeared in the way of boys running away on a SCOOTER (did he chase them through the forest? or does he just sit in the bushes and jump out when someone appears?), how strong he is - enough to lift Tee, or when he was hit several times in the back and head and it doesn't work on him. Same with his selectivity: he didn't finish off Por, he didn't kill Top even though he had the perfect opportunity, he killed Dang, he tried to kill Jin in the temple. And he never seems to sleep. And the fact that Top arrives on a scooter disguised as a murderer who previously attacked Tee and Tan who was then wearing black shoes and blue pants, while Top has white shoes and pants.
In deleted scene: Por counted 9 people on cctv.
Jin says that Non is alive, he just doesn't want to talk to them. 🤔 Tee and Top immediately assume it's his ghost, meaning that Non may be dead 🤔 Tee: If Non were alive, he would come to visit us, or at least he would come to Jin. Phee keeps insisting that the murderer is human. 🤔
Jin is genuinely worried about Por, he is shown comforting others, a voice of reason, a support for the group.
Phee's strange reactions: when Tee wants to leave Por and save himself, Phee is shown sitting frozen, looking at the floor. (Was that the case with Non? Was he left behind with wounds and maybe the reason he died was because no one helped him?). Or when Phee looks at Fluke strangely when he talks about leaving fingerprints on the dead body and an autopsy, and then he keeps looking at him when Fluke is visibly panicked. 🤔
Tan keeps directing the conversation towards Non, casually trying to bring out from the group what happened 3 years ago, until he loses control towards the end and DEMANDS to tell him what happened. Tan messes with Fluke's head, who only in this one scene with him, acts genuinely terrified of dying throughout the entire series, even his voice is different. Yet Tan also saw someone in the house and fought the murderer, too. What's interesting is that when the injured Tan comes back, he calls only Phee and Jin. 🤔
Now, as the first time, I'm impressed with how Tee treats White. I really can't doubt his feelings for White. His vile character, which we got to know in the flashbacks, came out in two scenes with White, when he scolds White for "not obeying" (although I have the impression that Tee is lashing out because he's panicking about filming a movie that triggers him) and when he runs away with Top (in in this scene he clearly succumbs to fear and peer pressure, they are in a frenzy in this scene. But the moment he sees the masked murderer he realizes that he left White and immediately returns).
It's interesting how Jin and Phee gravitate towards each other. I also think they are more compatible with each other than Phee and Non. And Jin can't lie to Phee and tells him the truth straight to his face, including the unpleasant one, which clearly pleases Phee.
It's also interesting how Phee and Tan often complement each other and "cooperate" wordlessly 🤔
The scooter doesn't start when Phee tries and starts immediately when the murderer sits down 🤔
Fluke is ready to worsen Por's condition, shoot Top and now hold everyone hostage (what's his plan again?), just so the truth about what happened 3 years ago doesn't come to light and just to save his precious reputation. Fluke is willing to do anything to save his bright future as a doctor. (It's very interesting how he looks at his bloody hands.) Just like the first time, I wonder about Fluke's extremely terrible behavior towards White, he is plain nasty, abusing him mentally, verbally and even physically, how often he tells him that Por may die because of him, he acts like a abusive parent with his: "can you do at least one thing right?", "you are so slow." What else struck me was the obvious fact that Fluke hates being a doctor, hates the patients, hates this job, complains when he has two patients, doesn't he know what it's like to work in a hospital? 😆Question: why does Fluke want to become a doctor, because it's definitely not his calling… 🤔 For his mom? For the money?
Jin's arm is dislocated AGAIN? What happened the first time?
Fluke to Tee: you killed a person. Tan immediately at Tee: 👀👀👀 I have the impression that Phee is working with Tan and that they just want to get confirmation of what happened first by scaring the boys. We see, for example, Tan unpacking the costume, which means he has access to it. And that is why the murderer did not kill Top - because he only wanted to freak him out (which worked, also Top's panic was contagious, also Tan is not there). Or maybe there never was a plan? Because actually everything looks quite random and accidental, they couldn't have known that Por would have a disk with the movie lying just there next to the TV (unless they already had this disk and placed it earlier), that he would let them play it, that the rest of the guys would agree to play in the new film. There's just too much randomness, dumb luck and unknowns here and the real (?) murderer is interfering with their plans.
I have a feeling that Non is either dead, missing, in a coma, or in a mental hospital and Phee and Non are trying to get information what happened. Although I wonder why they would wait 3 years for an answer, while being friends with the people who caused Non's downfall. Not to mention that Phee was sleeping with Jin and had quite an intimate and emotional relationship with him, and if he hooked up with him for revenge/spying, that would be quite a new level of sophistication and, well, being fucked up. And bit out of character for Phee, too I think. I have the impression that Phee and Tan are also shocked by what is happening, but I might be wrong.
I would say that Por's death was an accident that no one wanted (Phee, Tan and even the masked killer), if it weren't for that wire that decapitated Dang and the genuine attempt to attack Jin. Is this Non? Hmm, this would mean that Non's alive and in these three years he has either improved a lot and is able to carry out a complicated revenge plan, or his condition has gotten a lot worse and he is on a killing spree - at the same time being sane and balanced enough to carry it out successfully. (friendly reminder, that in slasher films, parents are also often the masked murderers - especially mothers..)
(Did you know that the actor playing Dang has his entire body covered with tattoos? :O)

Dead Friends Forever Q&A-Style Review
I listen to a movie podcast called The Rewatchables, and they have interesting categories that I want to examine this series through.
Most rewatchable scene: It has to be the last one, because we've been talking about it nonstop since it aired. Plus, it lives in my head, rent-free, like Non is haunting me. Like WE failed him. 😱
Tumblr media
But since I'm a BL girlie, who loves a well-crafted sex scene, I also have to include both of Phee and Jin's high-heat moments when Phee's trying to seduce him on the balcony and when they have rough sex in Jin's room. I'm not gonna lie: That was some king shit on Ta's end.
Best quote: "No one could leave this abandoned house — not even one." Come on! It foretold the surreal ending and fulfilled the victim's wishes. Gold.
Tumblr media
What aged the best? The way that even the bullies perceived teacher Keng as a groomer, who took advantage of a desperate child — that will most definitely make that subplot still bearable even a decade from now.
What's aged the worst? The unaliving and SA montage in the finale that some have said was insensitive/irresponsible to have included. It was like trigger after trigger after trigger — practically a machine gun of traumatic scenes. The fandom could sincerely organize a class action lawsuit against the writer and director for them to pay for our therapy bills.
Scene-stealing location: The lake. Such a beautiful setting for romance, betrayal, and revenge. 😈
Best shot: Definitely the one of Tan from above when he's successfully drugged all of his victims. Iconic.
Tumblr media
Are we sure this person is good at their job? Tee's uncle. The fact that he has so much riding on two teenagers is ridiculous. He didn't just start being a con man / mob boss that week. How does he not have a more stable criminal infrastructure at this point?
Best use of food and drink: Obviously, Tan spiking the beverages, knowing it would be the easiest way to poison everyone.
Was there a better title? Absolutely not. The play on the phrase "Best Friends Forever," an archaic term popularized in the '90s that puts way too much pressure on kids to find their kindred spirit and hold on to them through adolescence and adulthood, was inspired. It truly encompassed the impossibility of it all. There are just so many obstacles ahead of you, like peer pressure, family obligations, love triangles, bullying, ego, insecurity, and cowardice, that it's a lofty promise to make when you've barely finished puberty. Plus, it kind of hints at the ending...
Overacting award: Some could argue Barcode, but part of his performance was meant to be surreal, because it was in the dream state. I, personally, vote Jet (Top). Sometimes I felt like his character was in an entirely different, far more slapstick genre.
The "That Guy" Award: This category is for the actor/famous person you see all the time, but don't know the name of. I noticed a lot of people were excited to see Perth, so I "saw him all the time" on my feed. When I Googled him, that's when I learned that he was on a reality show with other Be On Cloud stars.
Tumblr media
Scene-Stealer (with very few scenes): Honestly, whichever extra/stunt double they had wearing that mask, freaking us out. The most memorable of which was when its creepy hand groped Tee.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Recasting couch:
I think Nanon (Bad Buddy) could've been interesting as the tormented Tan, because we would've bought his innocence longer.
It could've added to the mystery if we had the BL twins, AJ and JJ, confuse the narrative.
I would watch Neo in almost anything at this point, and he could've played the morally conflicted Tee as he showcased those skills already in Only Friends.
A younger Mark (Last Twilight) would've fit so well into this cast. He plays lost and guilty quite well.
Picking Nits: This category is for pointing out things that just don't add up.
Why didn't Phee's cop dad have more questions about his son's behavior and activities after he saw who his son was involved with?
What teenager is fine going somewhere that has no wifi or reception? Even I wouldn't do that and I've had wifi as long as these characters have been alive.
Why was Non, a teenager, being medicated for mental health issues, but not being monitored by a mental health professional?
If Tee's uncle didn't want to be at a loss if Non died unexpectedly, then why didn't he let him get his wounds treated and get some rest? Unless the plan was always to harvest his organs, which would still have merited rest. Nobody wants shitty organs.
Unanswerable Questions
If Jin and Phee survived, would they have got back together?
If Non were alive, would Phee have ditched Jin?
What did they do with Non's body?
And, of course, after succeeding: Does Tan recover from his grief and move on with his life? Does he successfully escape arrest? Does he leave behind evidence of what the boys did to his family to further persecute them in death? Is his revenge plot really over...?
That was fun! Tag me if you answer the same Qs.

Precure Daily's Sixth Anniversary
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On April 10, 2018, I posted the first review in the project that became Precure Daily. It wasn't actually on tumblr at that time, but on Facebook. The plan was to watch an episode every day and just post some thoughts, but it evolved into reviews and screenshots and that necessitated a whole blog, and here we are. That was six years ago today!
Six years. It's hard to believe. I honestly, truly didn't think I'd still be doing this. Whether I petered out before the end, or managed to get it all done in the 2-3 years I anticipated, I figured I'd have stopped by now. But somehow I haven't given up yet! I'm still watching, still writing, and still getting new fans to share with, and that makes it all worth it.
The past year was slow, I will readily acknowledge it. I only got about 7 reviews out in that time, including the one that just went up earlier today, but one of those was the Go Go movie. That was a whole undertaking, it took me nine months to get out. Granted, for about 6 of those 9 months it was just sitting there unchanged. I'd open it occasionally to poke at it but then not end up getting much done. Maybe it still wasn't the best it could have been but I'm proud of it nonetheless. It was a good review for a good movie. Also, I got to review the very first All Stars, even if it was a short film. Having recently wached the most recent All Stars brings that experience full circle and it's real nice.
One small hiccup is that, at the time of writing, I haven't yet gotten out the traditional Honoka birthday post. I just haven't had time to sit down and gather artwork for it. Hopefully that'll come out in the next day or two!
Outside of the blog, let's look at the wider world of the Precure series over the last year
I said last year that I hadn't finished Delicious Party, and that's still true. When it was on air, I was watching it with a friend and she was really into it; we are going to resume watching together to finally push through it.
HIrogaru Sky's second half was good, it lacked a little bit of the driving power of the first half and the villain plot never properly came together in my opionion. I still love the characters, I think they're my favorite cast in a good while.
I did not watch Otona Precure. Although I've watched Go Go before, I want to finish this current watchthrough for the blog before I jump into it. Maybe I'll even review it as I go, that remains to be seen. I've heard mixed things about it and I'm not very big on the idea that the girls just go back to teenagers when they transform, but I'll reserve judgment.
Wonderful Precure did not appeal to me when information started coming out, and I fell off it for a few weeks when the first couple eps didn't impress me, but I decided to keep going and it's thoroughly enjoyable. I don't think it's going to crack my top 10 but it should be a solid middle of the road series.
I watched the Delicious Party Precure movie and Precure All Stars F with friends in fairly close proximity, and wow do those movies exist on opposite ends of the spectrum. DeliPa's film was one of the weakest Precure movies I've seen, while All Star F was phenomenal. I need to rewatch it.
I did say last year that the blog would look different when I finish Go Go. That is still true. I should be able to wrap that up in a few months, then comes the next phase of things. Deets when it happens.
And also just because I can, here's some recommendations for shows outside of Precure you should watch that came out in the last year-ish:
Oshi no Ko
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (featuring Wonderful Precure's Tanezaki Atsumi as a monotone elf)
SPY x FAMILY (featuring Wonderful Precure's Tanezaki Atsumi as a psychic toddler)
Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
The Last of Us
And I think that's it for this year's update! Here's to another year of watching and writing about Precure! Thanks as always to my loyal friends and fans for making this project a success: @sailorzombiestar, @vertixscribe, PaintedOutlaw, @hanasaki-tsubomi, yugimon135 (can't tag you for some reason), and my newest fan @nono-bunny.
Here's all my previous sappy anniversary posts if you want to go back and read them.
