Omg okay I need to check out MattDrai, my fave ship so far has been Kane/ Toewes, sooo many good fics but I'm realising it's maybe just the height difference thing for me? Haha
I've for sure read my fair share of Kane/Toewes or 1988 as I believe we used to call it lol There isn't going to be any height difference with MattDrai - Matthew and Leon are literally the same height 💀 BUT the enemies to lovers and "I'd get off the ice" is just SO GOOD. Love to come across more Hockey RPF humans in The 1975 fandom! Maybe one day I'll actually... finish my MattDrai fic that I haven't updated since August 😂

So I was just thinking about how I’d love a good memory-loss-with-a-happy-ending fic in RPF and Bennguin is my top ship rn so I started thinking about how it would go. Then I thought I should write it down and maybe prompt someone because I’m actually garbage at writing full fics and this drabble is what it turned into 😅 If anyone wants to pick this up and actually write it, please do (and maybe mention me so I can read it and because recognition feels nice!) If you want to talk with me about Hockey and RPF just dm me ☺️ thanks to justtoargue who encouraged me to post this even though I’m really nervous about it 💖
Tyler loses his memories after a concussion so he doesn’t know he’s been in a long term relationship with Jamie Benn.
Jamie clears most of his stuff out of their apartment while Tyler is still in the hospital and puts it back into the room in Jordie’s apartment that he used to live in. Hides all the photos of them in Tyler’s phone in a locked folder.
Jamie takes care of him but doesn’t expect anything back while Tyler is recovering.
Tyler starts falling in love with him little by little, day by day but thinks that Jamie couldn’t possibly love him back so he doesn’t mention it.
Tyler gets cleared for skating again even though his memories are just starting to come back.
Jamie almost kisses him so many times. He can’t help it when Tyler looks at him a certain way. As if he was his Tyler. The one who loves Jamie and talks about marriage and adopting puppies and who’s smile he used to wake up to every morning. They get close, Tyler is a little selfish and wants to be near Jamie all the time, cuddling. Most of Tyler’s memory starts coming back, but his past several years with the Dallas Stars still hasn’t.
Then there’s a moment, something quiet when they’ve come back from the bar with the team after a win, they’ve barely had a beer each, where they’re sitting close on Tyler’s couch.
Tyler says, “hey can I ask you a question?”
Jamie replies, “always.”
Tyler continues, “I found something the other day and I was hoping you might know why I had it. Here let me go get it.”
Jamie feel ice down his spine and his mind is spinning in circles trying to figure out what he could have left in the apartment that would have Tyler asking him about it. A photo of them together? Kissing maybe? A gift one of them bought for the other?
Tyler comes back into the room and sits down, looking nervous, and Jamie feel like the room is maybe not as spacious as it was a few minutes before.
Tyler takes a deep breath, ”I think it’s safe to say you’ve been my closest friend while I’ve lived in Dallas, even if I can’t remember it…so you would like know? Right?”
Jamie tries to keep his voice even when he asks, “know what?”
“If I was planning to get married?” Tyler lifts the little box and opens it to reveal a gold ring. Jamie can’t breathe. “I just can’t figure it out. This is clearly a wedding band, but if I was planning to get engaged or if I was already engaged then I would think that person would have shown up over the past few months. This doesn’t even fit me right. So I can’t imagine why I would have had it tucked away unless I’m holding it for someone else? No one has asked me for it back though and when I looked through financial records, I found a statement for it.”
“I-I’m sorry Tyler. I really don’t know.” Jamie hears himself say but he really can’t connect to his body right now. Was Tyler- had Tyler been seriously thinking about proposing? Jamie feels his eyes getting damp and had to look away from Tyler and the box. “Um, hey, I should probably get some sleep. Today was a lot and I’m exhausted.”
“Oh. Okay.” and Tyler’s voice is so small. Jamie can’t look though. If he looks he’ll tell Tyler everything and he can’t take away Tyler’s choice to be with him like that. Regardless of what they were in the past.
Jamie stands to leave, half full glass of water forgotten on the coffee table.

Tyler’s watching Jamie get up to go, feeling like his body is all wrong. Like he’s sick and nauseous and his head hurts and Jamie should come cuddle him again, kiss him until he forgets about it. Jamie can’t go. Tyler had to stop him. Jamie needs to know what Tyler feels for him, can’t imagine how Jamie hasn’t guessed yet when Tyler feels like it’s written all over his face when he looks at Jamie. This can’t happen again.
Wait. Again?
Yeah, the last time Jamie left they had a big fight. It was over something dumb but it scared Tyler so bad he thought Jamie might never come back in through their apartment door after he’d said, “I’m leaving” and slammed the door behind him. He thought he’d fucked up everything. Lost the only thing he cared about. Like when the Bruins traded him, but so much worse. Jamie wasn’t a career. Jamie was the rest of his life. Jamie was everything.
Jamie did come back though. They talked and they kissed and then Jamie fucked the sense out of him in their bed.
Their. Their. Theirtheirtheir.
And Tyler remembers.
Their first real meeting when Jamie picked him up at the airport. Their games together. Their play like magic. Their headlines in the NHL about being the most dangerous duo in the league. Their quiet time together. Their first kiss. Their first date. Jamie moving into their apartment after Tyler sent him the song Toothbrush by DNCE.
Together. They’re together.
Tyler bought that ring for Jamie Benn and damnit he’s going to give it to him.
Tyler’s breathing hard and Jamie’s almost to the door.
“Jame! Wait.” Tyler calls, using a nickname that’s only now come back to him, as he climbs over the back of the couch to get to Jamie faster.
Jamie freezes. Tyler catches up and grabs his arm gasping just a bit. “Jame, please, I- I remember.”
Jamie’s breath hitches and he turns to look at Tyler, finally. There’s tears in his eyes that are just starting to escape onto his lashes and cheeks.
“I remember,” he repeats.
Jamie looks like a fish out of water, like he can’t form words. He grasps Tyler’s arm back like a lifeline. “R-really? You remember…” he trails off, clearly cautious.
As if Tyler could remember his last seven years in Dallas without remembering *Jamie*.
“Yeah. Everything. I remember you and me and us and the team and-and our first date and you moving in with me and actually why the fuck aren’t you living with m-“
But Jamie’s kissing him and honestly how could Tyler have forgotten how this feels? It’s like coming home. Tyler pulls him closer.
When they break to breathe they both have tears on their cheeks and Jamie says, “god Ty, I missed you so fucking much. You have no idea.”

Jamie grabbed a black marker from the nearby table of the equipment manager and briefly looked for a piece of paper around only to end up seizing Tyler's hand and writing his phone number down on the top of his hand where the younger's remarkable ink game wasn't reaching yet.
"...Text me your address once you find out what it is and I will stop by."
"Wow, feels like a Hollywood movie scene of a high school girl finally receiving the phone number of her crush." Beaming like an idiot at the improvised way of receiving the older's number as he had been promised earlier on, Tyler's enthusiasm left Jamie snorting in amused disbelief but surprisingly playing along.
"Yeah, you can get it inked if you want to, darling."

oooh do you have any other fic recs (of any hockey rpf pairing)?
anything in my ao3 bookmarks i would recommend! but i often don't bookmark my favorite writers because it's quicker for me to just get to their entire works via my subscriptions list. below are some of my faves from writers whose entire catalogue i'd recommend:
Fake Dating Your Lab Partner and Other Foolproof Ways To Have The Best Year Ever (trevor/mason) -- my favorite comfort read. absolutely nails the friendship, the trevor/mason dynamic, the side characters, everything.
How the Future Knew (tk/patty) -- a ship i've moved on from but i still come back to this fic
May these memories break our fall (gavin/seamus) -- exactly the fic we needed about CBJ writing seamus out of gavin's narrative
take me home tonight (thom/brendan) -- really gets at the uncomfy darker side of this pairing
Front Runner (bennguin) -- i love this fic because i kept waiting for the big bad thing to happen and it was such a relief when it never did and yet it still felt like a wonderfully complete story anyway
interplanetary fall (j.t./tyson) -- the theme is that i like fic where nothing too terrible happens
in the stillness, boys, clear water till the bottom (joel/morgan) -- one of my favorite scenes ever of gross boys being gross
heel (nate/e.j.) -- beautiful achey writing

Hii, okay, I need to come here to scream at you because oh my god, you're the reason for my newest obsession (that's not to say, you're my newest obsession but that would sound weird and creepy so please ignore that)... I've read all your Larsdunn fics, I'm on my second read-through of Serenity in Those Deep Waters within two weeks, I practically jumped up and down when Odyssey of the Heart was updated, I can't fucking wait for the next part of Gravity of the Moon, and oh my god, I'm just slightly obsessed (don't worry, I'm usually a totally normal, functioning human being, and not at all creepy).
All that to tell you: you're amazing!
I've never once, in my entire life, read a fic or book twice in a row. I'm doing it with Serenity in Those Deep Waters though and it's only partially because I read through every other piece of Larsdunn there is (also, there truly isn't enough, so please never stop giving us more).
All THAT being said, I just have to tell you that I will read every little Larsdunn fic you'll ever post! I would give my left arm for maybe seeing a companion piece for Serenity in Those Deep Waters from Adam's POV (just feeding you ideas here, lol), I'll be sobbing over the next chapter of Odyssey of the Heart, hoping that Vince also gets to find out at one point how rut with a real Alpha should be. And aside from that, I'll just keep re-reading all your works until you grace us with something new 🥰

Okay updates on my hockey ~descent~
I've been reading a bit of bennguin and that was pretty good, I've been looking at some vids and I swear when Tyler got into a fight after someone took a cheap shot at Jamie 😭 like why do I care so much about that??
Anyway I have also just finished reading closed fracture by lightgetsin and it was so lovely <3 so looking for some more recs for sidgeno if you have them! (also why are there (((( all over the place sometimes? I've seen a few in fics and in tweets?)
I do really like the Penguins logo and jerseys so maybe I'll follow them closer when things get moving a bit more, its the off season now right?
Some other ships I'm a fan of is sterek from teen wolf, Sirius/Remus from hp, Macdennis from iasip, steve/bucky - just pretty basic ones lel 😬

tyler seguin is everyone's favorite slutty bisexual. go bananas in his tag (just #tyler seguin or #seguin) on tumblr and you'll find some great shit. that ship doesn't get as much attention anymore bc benn isn't fandom's favorite. i don't know enough about the stars to know all the reasons, but he did a very dirty and unneccessary hit on the vegas golden knights captain in the playoffs this year and that was enough to make me not like him. i can rec some stars blogs if you want - they are a great team with a solid fandom presence and a lot of young amazing players. and they have seggy :)
um, if you love boys being overprotective on the ice, i can definitely give you some pens moments but ALSO you should look into tknp (travis konecny/nolan patrick). i think i have a #protective tk tag on here you can browse bc the boy goes batshit insane anytime someone touches his boy. one of the big reasons a lot of us fell for that ship. you don't have to be a flyers fan to love them; tk is a fandom darling bc he's so tiny and fighty and wonderful.
also, any decent player is very protective of their goalie, so if you love that dynamic, you might enjoy some defenseman/goalie pairings or there's just some fun clips and gifs out there. i'll try to reblog some stuff for you. give my poor followers a break from the rwrb posting and tzp thirst 😂

Sidgeno is the most popular hockey rpf ship at least by numbers on ao3; we got it all, baby! I read a lot of angst and porn, so I don't want to throw a bunch of recs at you without knowing what you like :)

we ARE in the offseason but hockey comes back (relatively) soon. preseason games (exhibition games that don't count towards playoff standings) start at the end of september and the season kicks off in October. The Penguins season opener is vs the Chicago Blackhawks which should be a VERY fun game to watch, bc Chicago drafted Connor Bedard this year, one of the best hockey prospects since Sid himself. Bedard is insanely talented and we are all very eager to see how he does in the NHL. Sid was Bedard's favorite player growing up (he is so many players' favorite player growing up) and they've met and they are both very sweet boys and anyway it will be an interesting game.
Stucky was my first ship since really diving into fandom and I spent a ton of time in Teen Wolf fandom! There's a ton of teen wolf on my ao3, mostly sterek, but i mostly write hockey these days.

Three ships? Well NurseyDex and Sterek continue to rule my fic writing. As far as a third one goes... I guess it rotates pretty much constantly. Pynch, Bennguin, Destiel, Zimbits...
First ever ship? I think the first one I posted fic for and interacted with others online about was either John/Aeryn or Josh/Donna. But maybe it was Spike/Buffy? Man, that was so long ago. But my first ship outside of the internet was probably Meg and Cal from A Wrinkle in Time.
Last song? 3rd Planet has been stuck in my head ever since it came up a couple days ago, but the last song I actually listened to was something off of Carrie & Lowell (Or else, do theme songs count? Because I just finished listening to the MBMBAM naming of 2023...)
Last movie? Rewatched Glass Onion as soon as it hit netflix. Haven't had a chance to dive into anything new since.
