Dear reader friends,
Authors can see your public bookmarks. When you bookmark a work and don't choose to make it private, they can read what you wrote in the tags. This is great if you wrote silly things like "this made me smile" or even "screaming crying throwing up when I read this" (and I can tell you that us writers absolutely go into the bookmarks hunting for tags like this because we are praise-hungry little freaks), but not so great when the tags are something like "author is clearly an amateur, do not come back to this one".
I've kinda gone back and forth on this topic in my head, because on the one hand people are totally allowed to put whatever they want in a bookmark's tags and authors are voluntarily going into bookmarks to read any potential public tags. However, if the option to make a bookmark private is there and you are going to write something not so nice to remember the fic by (which is totally valid! some fics are just not for some people!), I feel like it's okay for us authors to at least ask that you consider making your bookmark private?
Once again, I would like to reiterate: there is nothing wrong with not liking a fic. There is nothing wrong with tagging it "this was awful and I hated it". All I and my fellow writers ask is that you check that lil box that makes the bookmark private, allowing you to be the only one who sees it.
After all, if I'm taking off my Writer Hat and putting on my Reader Hat, I am the only person I'm writing that review/making those tags for. I am not tagging my bookmark, saying, "this fic is awful don't read it" so that other people know not to read the fic. That would be mean and (maybe I'm out of line saying this, but oh well) out of line. This is not GoodReads. This is Ao3, and writers are voluntarily writing lovely things that they've put pieces of their heart and soul into that you can consume for free. All we ask is that you're kind in return. :)
So reader friends, if you finished a fic and you didn't like it all that much, please consider ticking that little box that makes the bookmark private. There is nothing wrong with tagging it in a way that warns you to steer clear, but please do it in a place the creator of said work can't see it. Thank you, we love you! :D

Different anon, but just to add on, what if Geno knows that Mario knows, but wants Sid to feel ready in his own time. Geno and Mario share one too many knowing looks while Sid bumbles around oblivious.
Sid, sitting in Geno's lap and pulling away from making out with him to give him a dopey grin: I can't believe we've kept this a secret so long. usually we're not good at that but Mario and Nat have no idea!!
Geno, nervously making eye contact with Mario, who's peeking into the FAMILY LIVING ROOM to see if his rookies are done making out yet so he can finally sit down and watch that Sharks game: Yes. We so good at keep secret.

True story: I wrote SITDW before I actually made my Tumblr lol. I literally went "hmm, maybe I need to advertise this fic (as if I had anyone to advertise to lol) since it's 100k and I would be sad if no one read it--oh, maybe I should make a Tumblr!" and then I did. That particular header pic is (I'm almost 99% sure; I did way too much research for SITDW) of Vince right after he scored an unassisted goal against the Coyotes on April 6 (four days before they clinched the playoffs!!).
anyway, I'm glad you love it as much as I do. :)

Hey its the sid/geno anon again! Before i go any further i want to say sorry (but also not sorry) for putting this sid/geno thought in everyones minds. Its been marinating for a few days in my tiny brain.
But one last thing:
The whole story flipped from marios view. He probably didnt know prior to sid making a fuss about geno coming to live with them their history. He just thought sid could genuinely use a friend, similar to how he had jagr. Its rough being 18 with the weight of the world on your shoulders.
But when geno shows up to their house the first time and sid gives the most huffy and disingenuous "nice to meet you" he actually thinks its a little funny seeing sid be this bent out of shape about it.
So its not totally unexpected when he finds sid and geno in the pool together. Hell he and jagr fooled around a bit too.
(He also doesnt tell sid that he notices how sid keeps the door to his room closed now and dumps the tiny trash can from his room out to the big trash can in the drive way. Mario knows what evidence (condom wrappers most likely) hes trying to hide)
Hes actually even a little paranoid that sid caught him watching (which he didnt). But nathalie catches him googling "how to tell your son you approve of his relationship (subtly)" and asks about it. He gives her a white lie of how he thinks sid is secretly seeing someone. So together they form a bunch of little ways to subtly create ways to give sid the floor and come clean when hes ready.
At dinner mario will try to shoehorn how he met nathalie for the first time. Nathalie will try to do the motherly thing of trying to give sid the talk (meanwhile sid lasts a total of 10 seconds before hes bright red and almost runs out of the kitchen)
And sid runs up the stairs to his room where geno is laying on the bed (they sleep more often together than in their own beds at this point) and geno will ask whats wrong and sid will give a sputtering recount of the story.
Geno will ask "they know?" and sid will scoff "of course not. Theres no way they could know. Were so careful" and geno smirks and pulls sid in so sid sits in his lap and rumbles "good" before pressing their lips together
ALERT EVERYONE THE GENIUS ANON IS BACK.
My first thought after reading your previous prompt was to flip it and make it Mario's POV, since I LOVE a good outsider POV fic. Apparently we have the same brain. :)
For real though, these are practically fully-fledged fics at this point. Color me very impressed XD

I know youre primarily a lars/dunn blog but i need to share a sid/geno headcannon thats been rattling around in my brain:
Enemies to lovers AU sid/geno where they meet at world juniors. And sid is appalled by geno. Sid is very much serious about hockey. He is god's favorite child whos cursed with the ability to be insanely good at hockey. Its what hes poured his blood, sweat, and tears into. Meanwhile geno is just so happy to be there, laughing and joking around during warm ups. Sid interrupts genos good mood as not taking it seriously.
It doesnt help that he leads russia to destroy team canada. Sid is shooting him death glares and scowling at geno the whole time. Meanwhile geno catches his eye and blows kisses as he cellys with his team.
And afterwards, sid swears him off and says he hates him. So what if he watches genos highlight reels? No one needs to know.
So imagine sid's horror when not only does pittsburgh DRAFT geno but also mario graciously opens his home to geno while he adjusts to living in america.
(Sid ofc objects to this one night over dinner but mario shuts that down immediately with "future captains are humble and kind to new players, no matter who they are" while sid grumbles and picks at his food)
So not only does geno move in, he moves in to the room directly across from sid's.
And one weekend while mario is out of town (he volun-told sid to have some team bonding with geno and watch a movie together) sid and geno are sitting on sids too small couch in his room to watch some stupid movie.
Sid stares stubbornly at the tv, fuming in disbelief mario is making him hang out with the guy who embarrassed sid. And he tries to ignore how he keeps catching geno staring at him from the corner of his eye and how theyre so close their thighs are touching.
Eventually sid snaps and turns and asks geno if theres a problem. Geno just traces sids cheek down to his lips and whispers "pretty" and leans in to kiss sid.
And when Sid wakes up the next morning in bed next to geno, he stares up at the ceiling and realizes just how screwed he is.
(Bonus: they sneak around for a few months, stolen kisses and hidden touches. Not that sid thinks mario would disapprove but no way sid is telling his hero that hes sleeping with the enemy. Meanwhile marios known since the first few weeks when he happens to run home to quickly grab something he forgot and looks out the window in the kitchen to see geno and sid sloppily making out and groping in the pool)
I am primarily larsdunn but BOY do I have time to entertain sidgeno (and mattdrai) and BOY OH BOY is this an idea to entertain! I definitely don't have the WIP space to work on something like this (despite my stupid muse whispering that we absolutely do) but I love the idea!! "Mario not only knows about sidgeno but actively encourages it/is part of the reason it exists" is like my favorite trope EVER. I could definitely envision some fun with this XD
If anyone else wants to take this idea and run with it, be my guest :D I only ask that you tag me so I can scream about it excitedly.

I’m doing a reread of OotH, and I’m at the part of chapter 3 where Vince fantasizes about Adam fucking him - wondering if chapter 5 (Adam’s pov) will expand upon this or if you have a headcannon for what goes on in Adam’s brain re; Vince before they get together

of course I will share, lovely dwisp! Unfortunately for anyone thinking this is a fun new WIP, it's just OotH. Here's a bit about Adam courting Vince:
Adam starts small.
There are so many things he’d like to gift Vince—he has a notes app on his phone, and it takes him nearly a full minute to scroll all the way through it because there are so many ideas listed—but he starts off with something simple. The hydrangeas are going through their final blooms for the summer before they turn brown and die in autumn’s crisp temperatures. Adam goes into his backyard one morning before practice and cuts a few blooming heads of flowers; they’re pastel blue and white, so perfect they almost look as if they’ve been carved of wood. Adam fills a little plastic bag with water, ties it to their stems, and takes them with him to practice.
this fic is fighting me SO hard. I'm trying, I swear, but it's not coming easy. :')
