While both of Jess' parents were weird about comparing her to anyone around her age, the key difference was that her father wanted her to succeed, to come out on top, and to be better than others. He wanted to be, and at times even was, proud of Jess. He maintained this idiotic, backward idea that she would have been better as a son, but he still saw and treated Jess as a child, as his child, and— in his own way— loved her regardless.

Meanwhile, her mother loved Jess, too, but my god was it a complicated kind of love. She's seen Jess as competing against her since the day she was born, especially competing for the attention of her (somewhat distant and eventually neglectful) husband. She projected all her insecurities on Jess and blamed her for all their marriage problems. She was treating Jess like a woman with full grown-up agency and hidden intents, accusing her of seducing her own father so that he would spend more time with her than his wife. All when Jess was literally a child, still believed firmly in cooties, and spent her days terrorizing the wildlife and eating tree bark for fun.

It's no wonder why Jess was closer to her father at the end of the day. He had his blame for creating a toxic environment at home too, no doubt about that, and made plenty of mistakes in raising Jess, but it was the mother who set the three of them up for some really batshit crazy dynamics ever since Jess was a baby.

Yes!

A domestic mated pair of cabeça-de-tochas, one female and one male in breeding plumage. With them are their four young chicks. The male is typically not present for rearing chicks in wild cabeça-de-tochas, but domesticated ones show a peculiar trait of being more amicable towards each other.

Dragons aren't as known to domesticate animals as stickmen and sorcerers are, due to their natural state of being quite solitary, but there are a few settlements that raise animals for the sake of meat and animal products, livestock guarding, and crop care.

The animals most known to be domesticated by dragons are cabeça-de-tochas in Canavera Town. Despite not changing much in appearance from their wild counterparts, domestic cabeça-de-tochas are much friendlier and more affectionate, even being willing to work in groups and live in colonies when their wild counterparts are solitary. They are irreversibly genetically changed from their wild ancestors, and a proposed problem is raised from the idea of domestic cabeça-de-tochas escaping, becoming feral, and breeding with wild populations to create more social individuals. Such colonies could pose problems with increased forest fire dangers.

Cabeça-de-tochas are essentially the guard dogs of Canavera Town. Being large carnivores, they taste foul, so their meat isn't of high value to breeders and famers. They're excellent ratters, being intelligent animals that know how to use smoke and fire to flush out prey. As such, residents of Canavera Town use their speed and intelligence to eradicate rat nests, as well as protect food livestock such as honks from predators. Because cabeça-de-tochas are relatively small compared to a honk, they don't view them as much of a threat, and can coexist peacefully.

Having been around as long as they have, dragons are also the first domesticators of many large farm animals that stickfigures rely on for food and animal products today. Honks and sicklephants, among others, are extremely old lineages dating back thousands of years. It is only recently that they have been separated into different breeds by stickfigure breeders, and the colors represented below are considered "heritage" plumage from their wild type ancestors.

Instead of cows or any sort of mammalian species, stickmen in Soul Rune Cier use large domesticated terror birds [known as "sicklephants", but also affectionately referred to as churds or jigglenecks] to produce large amounts of edible crop milk, which can be used as a cheese-like or butter-like substance. They are noble and intimidating animals which aren't to be taken lightly, and are one of the main livestock animals raised in Drustown. Their crop milk, aka "bird cheese", is very rich and fatty, unlike the milder sweet mammal milk we are used to on earth.

Dragons tend to hold the belief that animals should still be able to live in the wild on their own, even if domesticated, so many of their domestic animals retain their large sizes and natural defense mechanisms to protect themselves from predators or hunt efficiently. As such, there are many feral domestic animals such as sicklephants roaming about the Raiteran rainforests.
