was kind of wondering if anyone wanted to beta read Strings Theory? I've pretty much wrapped it up at around 111k words and just need a foreword and an epilogue which I'm planning to do a bit later. MURDER HORNETS (MD x WoF AU concept)

woe. dragon-drones be upon ye. i caved into the autism and decided to mix my two hyperfixations together. this is just a vague story concept + some character descriptions. if you wanna do anything with it, go right ahead!! i probably won't do much teehee

The lust for power can easily destroy someone. Upon the discovery of another continent, the HiveWing Queen has decided that she wants, no, needs full control over the Distant Kingdoms just as she has control over Pantala. Such a task is easier said than done. The Queen has taken multiple squadrons of the most capable, powerful HiveWings, and under near constant brainwashing via the Breath of Evil, sent them to the Distant Kingdoms in trios. The Queen is not above resorting to genocide to get what she wants.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Undying (Uzi) Born shortly before the construction of The Barrier, Undying is a NightWing/RainWing hybrid who thinks that everyone who chooses to stay in The Barrier is a coward. She wants to rise up against the ones keeping them in, and she has a plan to do exactly that. She would execute said plan if it wasn't for her father and his precautions.

Kaffir (Khan) A RainWing who likes to take the safest way out. After the death of his wife due to the Murder Hornets, Kaffir became the self-appointed director of The Barrier Project, a safe haven set to keep wandering dragons protected from the wrath of the Murder Hornets. He's not too keen on his daughter's views of rebellion. Nightcrawler (N) Once a servant for a HiveWing royal, Nightcrawler was appointed to the Queen's squadrons upon her learning that he possessed more abilities than the average HiveWing. He was admittedly hesitant to embark, but with pressure from his appointed squadron, he agreed. It's not like he had a say in the matter. Vespa (V) The second member of the Queen's squadron, Vespa was in a similar situation to Nightcrawler. However, instead of being reluctant like him, Vespa fully embraced her role as one who asks no questions and does whatever she's told with due diligence. It appears she's gone a bit mad, but that seems to be a benefit for the Queen's goal. Junix (J) Junix declared herself to be the leader of her squadron upon arriving to the Distant Kingdoms. She has no issues with harming her own teammates if it means she pushes forward with her directive. She will do anything to please the Queen, even if it means paralyzing her "companions" due to them becoming inefficient. Lithic (Lizzy) A pompous SandWing who cares a little too much about social status in The Barrier. She's obsessed with all things shiny or anything that puts her in the spotlight. She's almost never seen without Dawn and looks down on those who she considers "outcasts". Dawn (Doll) An IceWing/SkyWing hybrid with a strong IceWing accent and is almost always seen with an eerily blank expression. She hardly says a thing, yet somehow is considered Lithic's best friend. There's something behind her eyes that feels wrong.

YES!!!!! i'm so excited for you. it's such a fun film to experience for the first time. they put so much thought and love into it, and they really fought for it, too, despite the MPAA originally trying to restrict it with an NC-17 rating. and shout out to susie bright who was a sex consultant on the film o7 check out this interview with her & this one with jennifer tilly. it was susie's input that really made corky and violet authentic butch/femme lesbians on screen.

It’s absolutely unhinged behavior in here… whatever you think of the game ending or however you choose to interpret it there’s absolutely zero need to be this vitriolic (there have been like, FOUR essay “feedbacks” posted about Welch?? people are acting like they RUINED the game on purpose for them.) It’s a fair opinion to have to not want to hear author intent or most certainly you’re not obligated to “agree” with what Welch was going for (personally I love hearing authorial intent because it gives a fun framework to see 1. if I grasped what was going on and 2. if the author successfully executed what they were going for.) but?? that does NOT translate into harassment and spewing BILE at authors who, again, have said NOTHING harmful and mostly made the crime of giving their writing thoughts in an uncontrolled fan space.

It's incredible that chess.com, the self- proclaimed #1 chess community, doesn't offer adequate accessibility features.

They're lacking subtitles on videos, despite it being suggested over 10 years ago and with people volunteering to add them. There have been requests to add better accessibility for those with visual impairments as well as those who struggle with coordination.

There's probably a ton more that I'm missing. I don't mean to exclude them, I just don't have the energy to deep dive into it right now (due to my chronic illness).

Anyone more knowledgeable about this stuff? Anyone else notice this? Is there anything that can be done? Any other thoughts/insights?

My brain has gone back and forth on between which anime if arma or new is my favorite. Cause even with all its issues Arma means a lot to me, it’s the reason I got into getter and helped me through one of the worst times of my life- But then new is objectively better written and it drives me nuts compared to arma it’s not talked about ENOUGH despite all the stuff you can poke at from it’s plot and I’m trying to pinpoint that reason since the general consensus is “no one hates new and it gets a lot of fanart in the Japanese community yet it’s never deeply acknowledged so it feels unpopular”

So my standpoint is “do I keep investing into the popular iteration despite its issues or do I invested into the less flawed unpopular iteration when it comes to introducing getter to new people?” cause man as much as I’m a critical person of media I still can forgive some messy writing if I have a good time with it and can clearly tell the staff had fun making it, which is definitely armas case. (Though they absolutely had fun with new too)

I frequently find myself in situations where I have to take what I consider an ordinary thing to say and translate it into phrasing that other people require me to use in order for them to cooperate with me.

I know I write things with harsh or dramatic phrasing on here but that's typically for entertainment value or because I'm venting in a personal space. In a work setting I put a lot of effort into being professional and yet huge extra steps are required on top of that to communicate with a lot of people.
