tartaglia had always been completely swoon for you . it wasnt until you started calling him ajax that he knew he was in love .

"im baaaack~!" you sing , almost comically as you return to your shared home . with the slam of the door shutting and the rustling of the various trinkets in your hand , he awoke from his brief nap on the sofa .

"i bought you somethinggg~" you added playfully . piquing his interest as he stands up to stretch .

he looks over to you , drowsy yet a look of interest plastered on his face . you rush over to him with what looks like a bouquet of flowers and various other things in your other hand .(from his recently awakened state - he wasnt completely sure)

youve always been one to spontaneously hit the markets in town and return with many things you know you dont need - yet you want them , and they make you happy . so wheres the harm ?

after placing a small kiss on his forehead , you hand him the bouquet of cecilias , he raises and eyebrow - hes never been gifted flowers , of course .

"i love you ajax~"

he hopes you dont notice , but his face freezes for a second , and tears threaten to fall - youre unsure why (whether it be the sudden show of affection or the love hes feeling right now) , so you just wrap your arms around him and lean your head on his shoulder , still holding the rest of the gifts .

youre wrong about it though - not only was it the flowers , it was mainly the fact that you called him ajax . his birth name . the name which was not affliated with any of his other identities . oh how cruel he had been . but you saw past that , you saw past the sinful acts of childe , the blood on the hands of tartaglia . no - you saw him for him . him as a person . ajax , just ... ajax .

"ah- haha.. thank you" ajax sniffles , wrapping his unoccupied hand around you , his voice an the verge of breaking , trying to muster a composed laugh .

but you hear it . oh , you heard it .

you hear the sadness .

the complete thankfulness and gratitude from the unexpected show of appreciation for everything hes ever done for you . you heard it alright - every way hes ever made you feel . every deliberate touch from him . it almost makes him melt the way you pull back and look into his eyes with your trademark genuine and loving smile on your face .

he wipes away the tears which threaten to fall , you didnt even need to ask - you know . you know why hes feeling this way .

"i... love you too.." ajax suddenly hugs you again , placing the bouquet onto the side table . he was thankful - really he was . just ... happier , more than anything .

the other gifts can wait , you thought . right now , you just wanted to make him feel loved .
