The Animal Spirit Warriors
This takes place after Lego Monkie Kid: A Hero is Born.
Chapter 1: Surprise
Ling took a minute to take in everything after hearing what happened. She gets sick for one day and call off of work to get well. She comes back and the first things she sees is MK holding a staff. But not just any staff, The Monkey King’s staff!
“So…I take that you are now The Monkey King’s successor now?” Ling said. She had long dark brown hair and yellow eyes. She was wearing a white shirt with a black long sleeve and blue jeans, with red, white and black shoes.
“Yep.” MK said, nodding. He was holding the staff in his hands.
“And not just that, he’s also the self-proclaimed Monkey Kid!” Mei said, excitedly. Ling narrowed her eyebrows.
“Really now.” Ling said. MK nods, grinning. Ling chuckles. “Well good job out there, buddy.” She said, going to ruffle MK’s hair playfully.
“I’m surprised you actually believed him.” Tang said.
“Of course. MK always freaks out when explaining things.” Ling said. “And I can tell by the tone of his voice that he has seen a lot.” She adds.
“Anyway. MK, just because you’re now the Monkey King’s successor and Monkey Kid, doesn’t mean you’re free from work.” Ling said. MK looked down at the ground, disappointed. Pigsy smiled at Ling, nodding.
“So, until you have to go train with The Monkey King, you got some noodles to deliver.” Ling said, pointing to the kart outside. MK sighed in defeated before walking out of the door of the noodle shop and getting in the kart.
After MK leaves, someone else comes in the noodle shop. A 20 year old girl came in. She had long brown hair and blue eyes. She wore a pink jacket and blue jeans with black and white shoes.
Ling recognizes this girl, it was her older sister, Jia Li. Ling is 19 years old, a year younger than Jia Li. These two have a strong bond with each other, even though Jia Li went off to travel the world. The two kept in touch with each other, with Jia Li showing Ling pictures of the places she went to.
“Hey, Jia Li.” Ling said with a smile on her face. Jia Li sees her and goes to hug her.
“Hey, Ling.” Jia Li said. She lets go of Ling. The younger sister looked at Jia Li. “I’m surprised you’re back.” Ling said, a little surprised.
“Yeah. I’ve thought about coming back here. I was getting a little homesick.” Jia Li explains, shyly.
“And you didn’t tell me because,” Ling was waiting for Jia Li’s answer.
“I wanted to surprise you.” Jia Li said. “Well, you succeeded in that.” Ling said, smiling.
“You don’t looked surprised.” Mei comments. “On the inside, I am.” Ling said.
“Anyway, yeah, wanted to come by and show you I’m back. I’m gonna go and find a place to stay at.” Jia Li said.
“You can stay at my place. I have a guest room.” Ling said.
“Okay. Thanks, Ling.” Jia Li said. She then heads out the shop.
Jia Li walked down the streets of the city. She had her hands in her pink jacket. She looked up and saw the blue sky. She then heard something; a scream. She ran to where the scream was coming from.
She gets to an alleyway and walked into it, looking around, being cautious. Jia Li hide behind a wall and peek one side her head out.
She sees a person who had red, fiery hair tied into a pony tail. He had small round glasses on, yellow eyes, with a scar on his face. He wore some red robe attire. He had black and purple shoes on as well.
He was in front of two people. Two pandas, one with blue eyes and one with pink eyes. They wore modern attires that consisted of their eye colors. Jia Li recognized these two; Prince Jun and Princess Lan, members of the Royal Panda Family.
“Now are you going to tell me where to find the stones of The Animal Spirit Warriors?” The redhead said with a sinister grin.
Lan just blew raspberries at him while Jun said, “You think we’ll tell you?! I’d rather die than give the stones up.” The redhead chuckles maliciously before flames came out of his hands.
“Then let me grant your wish then.” He said before running to the panda twins, who shut their eyes tightly as they braced themselves for the attack.
Suddenly, Jia Li ran in and kicked the redhead in the side. She then punches him in the stomach and sent him tumbling to the ground. The redhead coughs a bit before getting and seeing Jia Li telling the panda twins to get up and run.
“You! I’ll make you regret ever doing that to me!” The redhead shouted at Jia Li before his hands and hair caught on fire. Jia Li, Jun, and Lan ran off to get away from him.
The redhead laughed maniacally before running after them in full speed. Jia Li looks back and sees the redhead coming at her with a fist of fire. He came and was about to land a punch on her before he got pushed away by something that was gold.
Jia Li, Jun, and Lan kept running till they got to an alleyway and stopped to catch their breaths. “That was close.” Jia Li said.
“Yeah. Thanks for the help, miss…” Lan trails off. “Jia Li.” Jia Li said, smiling. “Well, thank you for saving us back there, Miss Jia Li.” Jun said.
“You are welcome, your highnesses.” Jia Li said. Lan and Jun chuckled. “No need to be so formal. “Lan” and “Jun” are fine.” Lan said. Jun nods.
“Oh. Um…okay.” Jia Li said. “So…did any of you noticed that golden thing that hit that red haired guy?” She adds.
“You mean Red Son? I did see something golden.” Jun said. “Also, you don’t know who Red Son is?!” Lan said, shocked by this.
“Um…no?” Jia Li replies. “He’s the son of one of The Monkey King’s, Sun Wukong’s enemies! Hello!” Lan said.
“Lan. What did we say about getting close to peoples faces?” Jun said, scolding her a bit. Lan groans and moves from Jia Li’s face.
“Anyway, the golden thing that hit him?” Jia Li said.
“Right. Who did that?” Lan asked.
A scream was heard along was a crash. “I did!” The panda twins and Jia Li looked to where the voice was.
A boy wearing a red bandanna over his head was holding a red and gold staff. He was on the ground, front first, groaning. He then gets up. “It was me. Sorry.” He said to the three.
Jia Li recognized him. “MK?” She said. MK looked at the brown haired girl.
“Oh. Jia Li.” MK said.
“You two know each other?” Lan asked.
“Yeah.” Jia Li said. “He’s my and my sister’s childhood friend, along with Mei.” She says. She the turns to MK, who was holding a red and gold staff.
“You-“
“Is that Monkey King’s staff?!” Lan said, starry eyed.
“Um. Yeah.” MK said, smiling nervously.
“So you’re the Monkey Kid?!” Lan said, smiling widely at him.
MK nods.
“OMG! I heard about what happened yesterday! The way you defeat The Demon Bull King and his family. How you found the staff. How you-“
Lan’s mouth gets covered up by Jun’s hand, her voice becoming muffled. Jun chuckles. “Thank you for saving us. But we have to go now.” He said.
“Where are you going?” Jia Li asked.
“We’re just gonna pick up our little sister from school.” Jun said. Lan was still talking, voice still muffled.
“Oh. Okay. Well, see ya!” Jia Li said.
“You too.” Jun said. He then walked away, dragging Lan while still covering her mouth.
Jia Li and MK then looked at each other. “So. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, huh?” Jia Li said.
“Yeah.” MK said. “But hey, you’re back!” He said.
“Uh-huh. And I think I probably have to leave very soon.” Jia Li said.
“Aw. Why? You just got back!” MK said.
“I know. But I’m only staying for 2 weeks. I plan on returning back to Australia.” Jia Li said.
“Oh. Have you…told Ling?” MK said.
“Not yet. I plan to when I get to the apartment.” Jia Li said.
“Okay….Anyway, I got some noodles to deliver.” MK said before going back to his cart. “I’ll talk to you later, Jia Li!” He said.
Jia Li waves goodbye to him and watches him drive off. She then sighed sadly before looking down at the ground.
She then heads to the apartment. Jia Li heads inside and looks at the living room and kitchen before going upstairs and going into the guest room.
She set her stuff down and looked out the window. Jia Li will look at the rest of the apartment later. Right now, she just wants to relax.
The brown haired girl laid down on her bed after putting her hands behind her head. She looked up at the ceiling, seeing the fan above her, not moving.
Jia Li sighed before sitting up. She then opened the front small pocket of the luggage and grabbed a picture out of it. She takes a look at it.
It was a picture of her and Ling when they were kids, above them where their parents. Their mom who had long brown hair and yellow eyes, wearing a light pink long sleeve dress. And their father who had short dark brown hair and blue eyes.
Jia Li and Ling’s parents were good friends with Pigsy and Tang, MK’s adoptive fathers, which explains how MK and the two sisters knew each other.
The sisters’ parents were killed in an accident that caused Ling to be traumatized by it. The two sisters were taken in by their uncle and aunt, who loved them and took care of them.
Jia Li sighed before putting the picture back in the small front pocket. She then laid back down on the bed before closing here eyes and falling into a deep sleep.
Rest of the story will be on AO3.
