ok I'm not an expert but I'm not seeing much specific info going around here, and there's a lotta Palestine solidarity protests in the UK this weekend, so here is some (including UK-specific) protest info and resources (mostly pulled whole-cloth from Twitter)
policing is heavy at Palestine protests generally
Hamas is a proscribed org under UK law. that means "inviting support" for them or "wearing clothing or displaying articles" that implies you are a supporter is a criminal offence (if you're interested, here's the full list of criminal offences from gov.uk). Palestinian flags etc are ok*, but do not have something that could be mistaken for Hamas imagery. don't go out there looking for convictions pls.
*in spite of what Suella Braverman has implied, the London Muslim Community Forum has just confirmed that the Palestinian flag is not a proscribed flag and is not banned (apologies for quoting the "we advise the met police" group but I thought it was important to have that info explicitly)
don't talk to cops. that includes the police liasion officers in blue bibs.
particularly if you're concerned about your face ending up on social media etc, but also just good practice in general (both in terms of COVID and protest safety)—mask up. cover up tattoos etc.
have bustcards or contact details for protest legal support on you. Green and Black Cross can be contacted on 07946 541 511. write the number on your arm etc.
if you witness an arrest: check if there's a legal observer nearby and if so call them over; if not: if the arrestee doesn't have a bustcard, give them one, find out where they're being taken, and contact eg GBC or a protest support line
if you have the time and can help out, there will likely be arrestee support required after—GBC tend to post callouts on Twitter for this
other links
for particularly children and young people and their families being referred to PREVENT for pro-Palestine statements, contact PREVENTWatch and maybe also Palestine in School (newer initiative I think, I don't have an excessive amount of detail on them just FYI)
Liberty, Migrants Organise and Black Protest Legal Support have bustcards in different languages, including Arabic and Somali (also Liberty's website has lotsa useful info, including advice for disabled protesters, protesting and immigration status, and what to do if you're kettled)
GBC's thread on what to do if you see an arrest is useful, as are all their resources generally
if I've missed anything or made a mistake, lmk—as I said, I am very much not an expert. if you know people who are protesting, pass them the legal support line numbers; if you're attending, stay safe and be vigilant; and ofc carry water.

Introducing… the Perfectly Neurotypical Ninja!!!
(I had an idea and thought it’d be funny)
our first incredibly neurotypical ninja is…
✨ JAY! ✨
Has zero volume control whatsoever
He can NOT be quiet for the life of him
There is no way he doesn’t have some form of anxiety disorder
Like his entire panic and fear definitely seem like anxiety to me
Has a plushie he still sleeps with for comfort and is emotionally attached to (which is super real of him honestly)
Panic attacks
He DEFINITELY has hyperfixations
Have you just seen him in general
That one short where he just starts running around on the roof
Also that one time he and Kai were supposed to train and got distracted by competition (Actually this could probably apply to all the ninja because they do this type of thing all the time)
Got so hyperfixated on dancing games that he learnt how to dance
I don’t think he can sit still it just doesn’t seem possible to me
(I’m not a Jay fan so I can’t point to much else off the top of my head but we’re all in agreement there’s no way he’s neurotypical right?)
Okay never mind, our FIRSt neurotypical ninja is…
✨ COLE! ✨
Talks to himself. A lot.
No seriously he talks to himself so much
Professional school dropout
Gets along great with animals and people who don’t fit in
Probably has owned a pet. Or five. (Probably a cat or a reptile) (he came around to them eventually and now he loves them) (dogs are too energetic and loud)
Most likely has depression
Definitely has sensory issues there’s no way he doesn’t
That one time he nearly had a breakdown from being overwhelmed. (Points to core shorts)
Dislikes metaphors (canon)
Wears the exact same hoodie without fail in every single episode where he has to wear civilian clothing (I think it’s a comfort thing at this point)
Probably taught himself several different ninja things he had no need to learn (why can he fight with a sword and nunchucks when he never uses either of them outside of a single special) (this also applies to shields and staffs and throwing stars but those are at least practical)
He says it’s to prepare but really he did it for fun
Has somehow not discovered his ninja special interest yet
(he physically can’t do anything else it’s too boring) (even when he’s not ninjaing he needs to practice once a day minimum or else he explodes)
Dances when happy/excited (definitely not a stim)
Immediately starts telling Jay about dancing when he enters the contest in a very excited manner (definitely not infodumping)
Has caused several misunderstandings due to bad social skills (he can NOT read the room for the life of him)
His best friend is Jay.
(even if he’s not autistic there’s no way this guy is neurotypical.)
(these are not the actions of a neurotypical person we’re all in agreement of that right)
Whoops… uh…never mind…our FIRST!!!! Neurotypical ninja…
✨ NYA! ✨
Terrified of failure
Like it haunts her she does NOT want to fail she has an entire arc devoted to it
Has a hard time letting go of things (she holds grudges A LOT)
This also includes things of sentimental value like Samurai X
Change is difficult for her just in general
SUPER stubborn
Definitely has a schedule that she envisions in her head but forgets to tell everyone else
(that short where she planned to spend time with Jay but he was going to the arcade)
Short temper especially on bad days
The more I write this the more I realize how little characterization she actually gets for most of the series
Justice for Nya honestly
(I’m assigning her neurodivergence I don’t care how short this is)
(I think autistic. But spicy.)
(probably also anxiety or OCD)
(do you see the vision)
….Okay so maybe not that one either- Uh… our FIRST!!! Neurotypical !!! Ninja!!!
✨ KAI! ✨
Has anger issues. Probably.
Super impulsive
No like incredibly impulsive. Ultra impulsive.
Craves attention but has really bad self worth issues
Hinges his worth on his powers (not healthy)
Wanted to be useful so badly that he convinced himself he’d get powers if he drop kicked Garmadon (it did not work)
Did I mention anger issues
Wants to be useful so he can protect!!!
That one time he and Jay were supposed to be training and-
Has zero patience
(I don’t know what flavor of neurodivergent he is but he’s neurodivergent somehow)
(once again I don’t pay attention to Kai there’s definitely more)
…Okay so this time for sure. Introducing FOR SURE our FIRST neurotypical ninja….
✨ ZANE! ✨
Do I even need to say anything
The entire episode “Home”
Social skills
Taking things literal
That one canon (?) book where he apparently has flashbacks to the ice emperor (im calling OCD or PTSD on that one Zane)
Also that one time he locked away bad memories in decoded (decoded is canon to me and the reason for that is mainly because it actually references ghost Cole (iirc) which is a miracle)
Yeah I think he has PTSD
that one time he hyperfixated on and roleplayed as a detective and then a pirate
probably more. Maybe.
That one’s a robot he’s disqualified. The FIRST, FOR SURE, NO MISTAKES, neurotypical ninja is…
✨ LLOYD! ✨
The fact he apparently has so much of starfarer memorized that he can nearly win a quiz contest thingy and the only thing that stopped him from doing that was that he hadn’t read a brand new limited edition issue
starfarer in general he is not normal about starfarer
Way too trusting for his own good
I would be more surprised if he didn’t have some sort of disorder considering everything he’s gone through
hes got to have at least something related to his trauma right
(This one is way shorter because. Again. Not a Lloyd fan. but. I think the starfarer thing is enough to push him into probably not neurotypical territory.)
(most kids do not know the entire plot and all the fun facts to a long running comic book series by heart)
Are you kidding me none of them are neurotypical?
Okay ne- what do you mean the last one
there’s those ones over there!!!! *points to Arin, Sora and wyldfyre*
Oh wait they’re also neurodivergent?
…..uuuuugh shows canceled then…. Sigh… Guess I’ll start up the Incredibly Neurodivergent Ninja show instead.
(disclaimer this is a joke)
(but they are all neurodivergent that part isn’t)

Going to bitch about Functional Breeding again.
I re-joined so I could participate in thoughtful discussions about IVDD, how to manage it in a breeding program, how to eradicate it in a breed.
People who had never heard the words "intervertebral disc disease" prior to Dr Bannasch's podcast two weeks ago are now total experts. We have calls to let breeds in which CDDY is set go extinct. Breeding dogs that have at least one copy of CDDY is totally unethical (because breeds with CDDY set should cease to exist). There is no such thing as carefully breeding it out; they just need to stop existing.
It is unethical to sell dogs with CDDY to sport homes. All dogs with CDDY are in pain. Yes, even if they show no signs of it and are choosing to be active into old age. Breed enthusiasts with conflicting experience are in denial/ignorant/unethical/don't care about their dogs/etc. Agility is the most hardcore and dangerous of dog sports, and anyone who even thinks about doing agility with a CDDY dog is an animal abuser. CDDY dogs that don't show signs of pain were simply bred to have too much drive to show pain (which is unethical).
I'd forgotten that this is the group that calls for the complete eradication of all brachy breeds, no exceptions. I'm also remembering that within the first six months of the group being created, someone had called for dwarf breeds to go extinct, so I guess that was foreshadowing.

Thoughts on Grima in FEH? I personally am a big enjoyer of this horrible little guy getting picked up by the scruff and dragged kicking and screaming into therapy by the summoner.
OOF... UNFORTUNATELY... I have zero complex thoughts about Grima 😅 I do think it's interesting, from the many Grima and Robin interactions in FEH, that there's almost this self-fulfilling prophecy to it, like Grima believes no matter what they Have to be this way. That all roads lead to this, and there's no changing it. And in believing that, they make it their reality.
HOWEVER. I do get really stuck on just. How they talk. Top Ten Least Effective Insults: Worm.
Tumblr media
They are like middle school bullies to me...... at least in FEH specifically where they will just harass Robin to no end LMFAOOO (and anyone else they have a bone to pick with)
I do think they can have a little therapy. As a treat :) (they could use it.)

Forgive me, a humble Scotswoman, for being so behind on my English history but I stared at Dundy's lovely Carnivale costume for too long, began some tentative digging, and found a few fun little parallels that might be of interest!
-
Dundy's costume at Carnivale comprises the coat of arms of Edward III of England (1312-1377).
More specifically, said coat of arms originates from around 1337 when Edward declared himself the rightful heir to the throne of France, quartered the original Plantagenet heraldry of three lions with the French golden fleur-de-lis to signify that claim, and began the Hundred Years War.
Which is just lovely and makes perfect sense! Not the Hundred Years War part, but the idea that Dundy would be drawn to such a costume given that he himself possessed both French and English ancestry!
-
Some other aspects of Edward III that I think are perhaps worth thinking about further:
He was noted for restoring royal authority following the unsuccessful reign of his father, Edward II. (A tenuous link perhaps but it puts me in mind of Dundy taking on additional authority for the men after the deaths of Franklin and Gore, and the drunken, chaotic rule of Crozier)
He would have seen a huge proportion of his subjects wiped out by the Black Death from around 1348 onwards. (I suspect it's probably a bit inappropriate to compare scurvy to The Literal Plague, but I'm going to do it anyway).
He launched a successful coup d'état, at the tender age of 17, against Roger Mortimer, his mother's lover who had previously been ruling as regent. ("There's been a vote, Edward..." anyone...?)

sorry but i dont know how anyone can take dr ramani seriously why do so many ppl think shes credible just bc she has a youtube and a doctorate. i regret to inform you that even educated ppl can record themselves saying a bunch of bullshit and post it online for clout. she literally uses narcissism to describe any sort of behavior on earth. i can hardly get thru 5 minutes of her videos bc she is literally just saying "narcissists narcissism grandiose narcissist" over and over. if you made up a drinking game of this you would die within minutes. that is not information that is word salad

lmao sry for abomination you about this again but now I’m imagining Alpha having an old married couple argument with Omega about his summoning situation like:
“you just had to try your luck with a bunch of satanists, ya’know, the people who’d have the best chance at doing a summoning perfectly”
NO, THAT'S EXACTLY CORRECT. The humans are just out of ear shot, and Alpha and Omega are trying to quietly bicker with each other about the situation.

I think a big issue with fate is that nasu sucks. I think a lot of issues could he resolved if he resolved to suck less.
its not just nasu tbf, he's just the most visible writer and plenty of the others have done dumb stuff, people just resent him bc of how much he gets lionized. and some of this could be avoided if they used the resources they had available to their fullest extent to the same level they use others (i didnt even know they had an english translator on staff?) i'd absolutely take a slow down in the release of content if they would research each religion to the extent they did with Buddhism, im just saying.
while ik a lot of people like it when the type moon staff get to really indulge themselves in their style of writing i think fate could definitely improve if they also had people on board to reign them in and keep them on track. (and like, maybe a sensitivity consultant? so you dont go and say that a still-living group that had to deal with extreme and ongoing colonization has gone extinct?) There's no reason that stuff should be mutually exclusive either, you can still write a good story including all your favorite tropes and not spread the kind of propaganda that perpetuates really unfortunate racist myths that has irl effects on the groups its about
