#val comes out of hiding #MMOs aren't their thing so I was so surprised when they first talked abt it #i also feel like i have a Duty as the Resident FFXIV Expert in this community to explain shit #and yes each race in ffxiv has two subraces with different background/histories and colour schemes #phil is a Keeper of the Moon guaranteed and I thiiiink dan is a Keeper of the Sun #called mooncat and suncat respectively in the community #mooncats are small groups that live in the Twelveswood and are often outcasts for not following the Elementals' will #(which the elementals will Nuke the Place if they dont' get their way btw. Not a Joke)#so mooncats are often bandits and gridanians + twelveswood residents are kinda racist :/#suncats meanwhile are very widespread and have large clan-like communities!#they've got a main sire/dad who is F'irstName Nunh who has a ton of wives and lots of daughters. some sons too but fewer #the sons are all called F'irstName Tia unless they start their own clan and become a Nunh :3 #so lorewise dan's catboy gets no bitches.#sure you can name your catboy Soandso Nunh but an adventurer is the definition of Not a Nunh #since a Nunh would be managing clan affairs back home and not Out in the World Doing Shit #also that screenshot would've been taken pretty early in their playthru - the gear is early ARR
