~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Notes: I knew there was no way I could stick to just one drabble an episode for the CS movie, so I didn't even try. There will be 2 drabbles for 3x21 and 4 for 3x22. They are all written, so the plan is to post one per day until they're all posted.
With Snow White off to secure reinforcements, Killian was left alone with the younger version of Emma’s father.  There was a long moment of somewhat awkward silence, and Killian couldn’t help but wonder what Emma was enduring at the hands of the queen. The anxiety swelled at the thought. She was in danger, and he was wasting time simply sitting before a fire.  He wanted to be off. Now.  He wanted to find her, to save her.
But he was and had always been a strategic thinker, and he knew Lady Snow’s plan was a good one.  He must content himself with remaining in place and waiting.
Nothing, however, said he must waste the intervening time.  Perhaps he could find a way to steer Charming toward his ultimate destiny.
“Are you excited for your nuptials?” Killian asked casually.
The prince shook his head and smiled self-deprecatingly.  “Hm,” he said, “marrying Midas’s daughter.  What’s not to be excited about?”
“I don’t mean to pry, mate,” Killian said carefully, “but you don’t exactly look like someone who’s doing this by choice.”
David was silent for a moment, staring sightlessly into the fire. “I always thought I’d marry for love, and here I’m about to enter into what amounts to a business transaction, a merger of two kingdoms,” he said. “I don’t know. This whole ordeal makes me wonder if there's even such a thing as true love.”
Prince Charming was questioning the very concept of true love?  Things were even more dire than he’d imagined.
“I once felt as you did mate,” Killian said, “and all it took was meeting the right person, and everything changed.”
“Princess Leia, the one we’re rescuing?”
Warmth filled Killian as he thought of Emma. “Aye. I’d go to the end of the word for her. Or time.”
“And she for you, I take it?”
Would she?  Would she go to such lengths for him?  He knew she had feelings for him, but she’d been running for so long–running from him, running from her family, running from love.  Would she follow him through a time portal?
Killian chuckled “I don’t know.”
Charming looked surprised at that.  “What’s the problem?”
That was far more than a short, fireside conversation, so Killian merely brushed it aside “There are many complications.”
“Family?” Charming asked. “Because my father is making things quite difficult for me.
“Aye, there’s that,” Killian said, suppressing a grin at the irony of the question. “I’m not so sure her parents approve of me.”
“Given the lengths you’ve gone to to save her, they’d be crazy not too.”
Killian did chuckle.  “I hope you remember that.”
Further conversation came to a halt at the sound of someone approaching.  Killian and Charming got to their feet, their swords drawn and pointed to the potential threat.
It looked like further discussion on the topic of their respective love lives would have to wait.

attention everyone we have reached my personal favorite Line in worm
I stepped toward Sundancer and offered a hand to help her up.  She flinched away. Oh.  My hands were bloody.  I dropped the offered hand to my side. “Let’s go,” I suggested.
there are a lot of good Lines in worm, and while i will acknowledge that many of them are sort of objectively more powerful culminating moments than this one, this one is still My Personal Favorite. Oh. My hands were bloody.
it's been obvious through the early arcs that taylor has a lot of repressed anger: she beats the shit out of rachel, even after being bitten. she outright admits to the other undersiders that she hasn't taken subtle revenge on the trio at school because she's afraid she would take it too far/it would obviously be her. she is, initially, unnerved by violence: she's a bit scared by the gun present in the loft, it creeps her out that brian knows every way to break a person's body, she feels guilt about the idea of any civilians being hurt during the bank robbery. but she still beat up rachel, and she still shoves bugs up the wards' noses during the robbery, and she still gleefully rides rachel's dog and laughs and hollers from the joy and the adrenaline rush of victory afterwards.
the expression of this repressed anger thru violence escalates further when her concussion leads her to slapping emma in the mall. in the principal's office, when it's clear that nothing she or her dad says will garner help with the bullying, she shouts and slaps papers off the table and asks what would happen if she brought a knife to school. after she and her dad leave the meeting, she calls lisa:
“Hey.  How did it go?” I couldn’t find the words for a reply. “That bad?” “Yeah.” “What do you need?” “I want to hit someone.”
lisa invites her to a raid on the ABB so she can do that, and it's soo. Sooo Very. to watch how she cuts loose on it. she's so angry rachel notices it in how she's standing, and she's still confused about how rachel noticed. she's a confident leader when the fight goes crisis mode, she responds to rachel bucking against her orders by consistently shouting at rachel to "NOT fuck with me right now," she acts nigh-suicidally aggressive during her fight with lung, and she snarls "don't fucking underestimate me" when she takes him out using a caterpillar dipped in newter's blood.
all of this happens in relatively subtle increments. she doesn't notice how she progressively becomes comfortable expressing herself and taking charge instead of withdrawing or acting insecurely during the course of the mission. she doesn't notice that she's not horrified by dealing with newter's wound or seeing the sniper's broken leg. back in unmasked society, she was forced to consider how many of her aggressive actions were the result of the concussion loosening her impulse control--here, she repeatedly yells at bitch without a second thought. it's a place where her violence and anger isn't only acceptable but necessary. the circumstances normalize her outbursts and comfort with violence to her, leaving her blind to how alienated and dissociated and repressed and traumatized and furious and just Fucked Up she has to be to face down lung and then dig his eyes out.
when she says that she "doesn't believe in eye for an eye," in arc 4 alec asks her why the fuck she's a supervillain. his implicit assertion is clear: being a villain is, for him, about taking your revenge for being hurt out on whoever you can manage or justify, even if they're not the person who originally hurt you. and taylor thinks she's not doing that. but hey: she goes beyond just "hitting someone" and into literally taking lung's eyes as a culmination of the cathartic violence she's been engaging in as recompense for how she was mistreated earlier.
and the person who serves as a more "normal" reference point for how far taylor just escalated is sundancer: horrified by the idea of having to use her sun to hurt people, shocked by how casually violent taylor has been, flinching away from taylor when she turns to sundancer after committing that violence & tries to offer sundancer help.
because, oh. her hands are bloody. she hadn't even noticed how bloody they were getting, but they are.
deeply evocative one-line reminder of how taylor has changed in these first five arcs, without even noticing. and the best part is that, while the imagery of "oh. my hands were bloody" does convey that change in an incredibly brief and powerful way, the fact that taylor is saying it still means even she hasn't really realized. she thinks it's mainly just about the superficial, literal blood on her hands, and not the metaphorical blood on her hands that sundancer is disturbed by. it's good.

concept: in an alternate universe where the three princes arrive in rhodolite after emma leaves, five years after chevalier's coronation, silvio ricci—"mr. secretly a caring brother"—decides to take a stroll around the capital to clear his mind.
he's been trying to find valerio for ages, and he'd briefly thought that maybe his brother is still in rhodolite, but for whatever reason, he can't seem to get any leads. after making the questionable decision to drink, he ends up wandering into the bustling markets of the city.
a pair of brothers catches his gaze. the older one is buying the younger one a treat—and really, they can't be too old. silvio has had little interaction with kids, but he'd guess them to be around the early teens. and it makes him think of how he was never able to do anything like that for valerio.
naturally, in the middle of cursing his brother out, he happens to hear a vaguely familiar voice professing his love for some woman named emma. he has to rub his eyes to make sure he's seeing things right and—
yup, blonde hair, blue eyes. an earring. the face of a man he loathes, though not as much as his mother.
and in front of his kneeling self—
a clearly pregnant woman who looks on, with amusement glittering in her brown eyes as she gracefully accepts the offered rose. silvio thinks he might be going insane.
"emma" then proceeds to pull him up and the lady selling flowers giggles about how wonderful it is that they're so in love. the guy from the stall next door hollers about how, since it's rio, it's to be expected.
they leave and silvio does not follow them.
what silvio does do is go back to his room in the castle and punch the wall, unable to figure out how he should feel about the fact that valerio is married with a kid on the way. one thing's for sure though:
emidio must not know.
so, silvio packs up and leaves for benitoite, and in about two years, even those in rhodolite whisper about how the second prince attempted to commit treason—and admitted, in a fit of rage, that he was the one who sent valerio to die.
(for this, the king begrudgingly thanks silvio and offers to make him king. but silvio pretends he hasn't already found valerio and vows to find him.)
then, silvio returns to rhodolite.
and finds out that the child valerio's wife was carrying was their second child, after a brat who happens to be the splitting image of valerio overhears asking about "rio" and "emma".
this kid is nothing less than a blabbermouth. within thirty minutes, silvio's aware of his history and "rio"'s too. he knows that valerio's second born is a girl, that he's disappointed that neither of his two children look like his wife, and that they'll probably not stop at two kids. he knows that the kid's name is elliott, that he's named to match the first letter of his mom's name—it's the same for his sister, who is named rhys, after his dad.
and yet, despite the fact that being armed with this seemingly useless knowledge comorts him, he's too much of a coward to try and approach valerio. after all, emidio's dead. valerio seems happier than he ever was in the benitoite's court. isn't it selfish to drag valerio back solely for silvio's pride?
(a part of him is also jealous of elliot's long list of uncles, who he suspects to be rhodolite's princes—most frequent are nokto, yves, leon, clavis, and luke. sometimes, jin and licht. chevalier, surprisingly, does ask after him and rhys, but never visits. sariel keeps tabs on them, just in case)
so he runs before his sister-in-law arrives to take elliot home.
and rinse and repeat. days bleed into weeks and he's not keen about letting them bleed into months, even if he views elliott as a "second chance."
but he doesn't have to.
valerio comes to him.
apparently, he's seen silvio hanging around his son. his wife is delighted that elliott's made a friend, even if he is older than she'd hoped for, and also a bit concerned about silvio's identity, so she wanted to invite him to dinner.
unfortunately, elliott told rio about how silvio once told him to cherish and protect his sister. he said that he couldn't protect his brother from getting hurt, and that he hopes valerio is happy.
the names are what tipped rio off.
there was other identifying information too, but rio already had his memories. the names were all he needed.
you see, he'd started having an inkling of his identity when emma was belle. he'd been pouring over some texts about benitoite and he thought some of it felt strangely familiar. but he kept those thoughts hidden because he was afraid of letting emma know. it was when emidio was arrested that his memoried fully started coming back.
[we now take a brief intermission to talk about how rio married the love of his life:
emma, whilst fretting over her uncontrollable feelings, is looking at the "engagement ring". rio comes in, and for a moment, they simply stare at each other.
then rio correctly guesses that this is something he had on him before. emma confides in him that she thinks it's an engagement ring, which causes rio to realize why she would push him away.
he tells her that he has no interest in returning home. he wanted to die, after all. it's likely nothing was waiting for him. and, if it is an engagement ring, he probably bought it because he knew he'd be meeting the love of his life soon (this makes her hit him on the shoulder). rio thinks he likely wasn't engaged at all.
this causes emma to decide that she wants to be selfish, even if it means living with that kind of guilt.
the rest is history.]
rio: "i really don't want you to meet emma...what if you fall in love with her? she's so pretty, i can see it happening."
silvio: "huh? why would—"
rio: "...but i need someone to testify that i wasn't engaged before i lost my memories. i didn't have a lover either. my wife's been holding onto this misconception, so i want to clear it up immediately."
silvio takes it for the olive branch it is. everyone and their grandmothers know that he's been searching for valerio. it's really no surprise that rio would realize his intentions.
the next night, he joins rio and his family for dinner. silvio brings flowers for emma and gifts for each of the munchkins, and for rio, he shoves a bottle of wine at him. his reddened ears don't have the luxury of returning to normal because elliott starts pointing out how his ears are super red. they have an enjoyable dinner, after which emma reintroduces herself as his sister-in-law and they confirm that they'll hold off on telling elliott, like silvio wants them to.
silvio is a coward though, so he tells elliott on literally the last day of his stay in rhodolite. elliott makes him promise to come back soon, and rio and emma, who are there to pick elliott up, reveal that they might go visit silvio instead.
[this is because someone manages to spill silvio's secret to the king. which means rio would need to establish himself to better protect his family.]

This is just my impression so far on the MCs of Ikemen Series. I have seen posts about Ikemen MC not having enough spite, dumb, damsel and distress etc etc....and to some point I do agree with it. Even I made a post about MCs being overly positive. But at the same time I feel like this is done on purpose from the writers' part.
Let's just say it, the MCs are not really that relatable even though they try to make it look like that. MCs in these games are very kind-hearted for no reason, overly positive and lack basic common sense. For example, take this scene from Harry's story event:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harry did mention to her before this that he can detect if a person is lying or not when he makes eye-contact. In the scene mentioned above, a person with common sense can easily tell that Harry lost on purpose. But for some reason Kate thought he lost because she was able deceived him. It is only later that Harry told her and Kate looked genuinely surprised. I don't think Kate is dumb. But I feel like the writers think we players are not that smart enough to distinguish between Harry's lies and truth. It makes me laugh some times.
I just honestly feel like MCs are portrayed this way so that we players could understand the game and its characters better. Like Paimon from genshin, who repeats everything in baby terms so that we could understand what we have to do (even if her screechy noise is annoying). MCs here are played by us, so when male characters has a plan that they don't reveal, MCs try to find out what their plan is so that we could understand. That's it. MCs are here just simplify the story to make us understand the character's better. They'll only ask the male characters what's needed to know right now and not anything extra. If it where a realistic MCs, she would ask more logical questions like:
Is Victor also cursed?
If Crown consists of only 'cursed' people and Victor went around to search these people, are there any 'cursed' people out there who rejected his request?
More questions on their abilities like: Can Harry still detect lies if someone closes their eye? Can Elbert trigger sad memories if a person doesn't have a sad memory? etc etc...
But we don't see Kate asking these questions.
I feel like the reason why we feel sometimes frustrated when MCs act in a certain way is because these MCs are not at all realistic. I'll never believe that someone with common sense did not try to run away after watching a murder happen. I'll never believe that someone with common sense falling into easy traps. Like this one scene from Silvio's story where, Silvio's daddy visits Rhodolite because his lost son is found and he also wants to know if Rhodolite King is dead blah blah blah...you guys know that story (I assume). Emma has to choose the next King without Silvio's dad knowing and they wait for Sariel's call. A servant comes to Emma's room to call both her and Rio. This servant itself is sus because Emma clearly states that she hasn't seen that servant before. When I read this, I immediately knew it was red flag. But even so, Emma and Rio ignores the red flag and goes with the servant and what do you know? They get kidnapped. The scene was very predictable. But it's so frustrating because, realistically speaking I think normal people would feel a little bit suspicious about the person given the situation. Maybe even question the servant. That's why I'm saying...I do feel MCs are not realistic enough. I don't think anyone is overly-kindhearted to the point that they would accept insults from the male leads and be like "I'm going to prove myself to you!". Normal people would just be like "fuck off!" and won't listen to their insults. No one is so dumb it fall into easy traps and no normal person is like "I will work hard to get to know them better." Majority of the people are way smarter and way selfish (not in a bad way though!). Many people have attitude, not everyone are kind to strangers. That's why MCs are not realistic, so there is no use in comparing MC to your personality or your intelligence. They are just tools for explaining the story in a simplified way and moving the plot forward. Because like I said, if Emma and Rio didn't go with the servant and get kidnapped, Silvio's story wouldn't move forward.
That's all. This no hate, this is just how I felt after reading quite amount of stories both in-game and on tumblr. MC's don't have much background because the writers don't really put too much thought about their personality. MCs are basically last on their lists. They just make sure that she's an adult, working woman (doing some odd jobs like a flowershop lady or something, because I've never seen a CEO MC), and they are very kind for some reason. They don't have family (except for Emma), they don't have a story, they don't have anything that impacts their personality. At least it would have been nice to see why a MC is so kind-hearted would be nice. But otome games' main selling points are the male leads. The male leads falls for MC's purity in their dark world.

okay actually i need to ramble about taylor and her dad for like a bit cus its sooo much.
like okay listen listen listen: Danny wakes up early and he cooks breakfast maybe and then he goes to work and he does his job- and he's great at his job, in any world but this one, in any other brockton bay, he'd be able to afford to take taylor out of winslow or fix their broken step- maybe get her her like a dog or something (which btw would fix her) and y'know pay the bills and shit. but he can't in this universe because in this universe kaiju attack every 2 seconds and one specifically doesn't like people existing on coasts and like he's a dockworker or whatever so! so. so he works all day tirelessly just to not get his crew jobs or better pay because no one is going to sponsor the people working on a non-existent dock like its literally a graveyard! who would pay for this when there's an actual dragon man running around the city burning buildings down and an entire neo-nazi contingent of super-cunts nobody is going to do that. But this is his life. And he's stubborn and things had been better before so maybe they can be good again and he hates change and he doesn't want to have it all been for nothing and this is what he does. So he gives it his all. He stays late and he really only hangs out with his coworkers and he does have to pay the bills so its not like anyone could blame him. So he slams his head into the brick wall hoping it will break before his skull will and he misses so fucking much of what is going on in his daughters life! but it goes by so quickly, too quickly and by the time he's begun to figure out just how deeply and irrecoverably she's changed its way too late to just swing back in like nothing happened. He can't actually! They've both closed themselves off totally, her even farther than he has. but they're both stubborn, so stubborn and they think that if they can just hold on a little longer then things will be okay because things have to be okay because this can't be the rest of their lives! And Taylor really is her fathers daughter because she sees the way he bloodies his head on that wall and says fuck it all do you one better: this brick wall is going to break or i am! and if i do then i won't be around to care about it! And she's skipping class and spending nights somewhere else, sneaking out and of course he knows about it- of course he knows! What is he going to do though? confront her? and then what? what justification could he possibly have for that? to demand answers from her when she should be the one demanding them from him? he let her go back to the same school that nearly killed her! he let her drown without him when his wife died- didn't notice when emma broke her heart, didn't notice when she stopped loving english class or trusting adults or speaking without thinking 'stupid!' at herself reflexively. or worse- he did notice and chose not to do anything out of cowardice and habit and procrastinating guilt- like his daughters mental health was homework he hasn't handed in. But they both feel better, when they don't have to talk about it- and there's nothing morally wrong with skipping school or dropping out entirely but taylor used to like school but having an actual conversation with her about what exactly is happening in her life is something he takes half a zillion words to work up to and by the time he actually does he has to lock them in a goddamn room together- not because it's a good idea- if he knew more about taylor he'd know its a surefire way to freak her out- but because that's what he needs to talk to her.
and it just...deflates. she leaves and drops out of school and doesn't really talk to him again until brockton bay is like halfway underwater. there's no catharsis with him finding out she's Skitter, its not satisfying, not even in an angsty way- 'luke i am your father' -at least that's properly dramatic! It's just sort of an. oh. okay. fuck.
i dunno. this wasn't going anywhere. i just...man. they'd both kill for each other, i am confident in that much, but both seem to struggle pretty hard with the 'living for each other' part.

Y'all ever think about the first chapter of Gold Morning when Taylor realizes she threw away everything and cut ties and poured her soul into trying to stop the end of the world only for it to all be for nothing and her hometown is gone and her dad is probably dead and she gives up for the first time in the book? Like she's a person of nearly infinite determination and willpower, but it finally ran out after she realized it was all hopeless. And it's such a fitting method of attempted suicide too for someone who passively tried to kill herself via caping without even realizing she was doing so. She just floated out over the ocean at sunset, surrounded herself in a cocoon of bugs, and stayed there as her flight pack's fuel drained to the point of no return. She didn't say it outright, but she fully intended to die there.
And the whole time she couldn't bear to ask anyone for help or a hug. She said the only two people who would give a hug without further questions were her dad and Rachel who weren't available, and that's heartbreaking to me. She's been so focused on being composed and threatening and strong enough to not be fucked with that she can't bring herself to let down the mask, so she'll drown instead. And she's wrong, she's so so so wrong but she's such a bundle of paranoia and self loathing that she can't fathom her friends would accept her in her moment of weakness and give her a hug. But Lisa does.
Tumblr media
I'm moving past the "now we were like lesbians" real quick because yes they're so gay but that's not the point of this post. Lisa gave her a hug immediately, she saw her friend hurting and wanted to comfort her, but I think it's important to note that Taylor's inability to ask for comfort and the fact that she didn't want to inconvenience her friends with her feelings led directly to her hurting Lisa so much more. When Lisa opened the door she was genuinely unsure if Taylor would come through or let herself die, she was forced to see her worst nightmare for a moment as everything she tried to stop happened. How much would that destroy her? She doesn't show it because she's just like Taylor with her emotion bottling, but I honestly think if Taylor hadn't come through that door Lisa would have second triggered.
Anyway I'm getting off topic even if I don't know what my topic is. Taylor being afraid of being a burden when she's emotional around her teammates happens a few more times through Gold Morning, Rachel accepts it obviously, Lisa hugs her, and Aisha tells her to stop apologizing because she's allowed to feel shit when the world is ending. Everyone (sorry Brian) is 100% ready to help her, but because Taylor has had every strong emotion she shared with Emma weaponized against her and has been taught to appear strong she just can't fucking comprehend it. Her friends would fucking follow her to the ends of the Earth and she's thinks so little of herself that she believes she wouldn't give her a hug. I'm repeating myself but fuck she's really kill herself before asking for a hug during the apocalypse. She's just completely incapable of believing people like her I want to throttle her and yell that she is loved but she would genuinely just somehow rationalize that as a lie. She's surrounded by friends and people she's saved and so many lives that she's touched yet she's completely alone in her head because she keeps them all like 20 feet away emotionally.

Say That To My Face
Pairing: Dad!Jake x female!reader
TW: mild abuse, violence, angst, fluff
Summary: Jake has always tried to set an example for his daughter but what happens when he catches her being treated like less than a princess?
Word Count:1.5k
A/N: protective dad Jake AND protective uncle Bradley? love to see it.
Tumblr media
You left the house for twenty minutes to make a quick trip to the grocery store. Twenty minutes is all it took before your teenage son calls and tells you to come home because something is happening with your daughter and her boyfriend.
At home, Jake and Bradley are watching a football game with your son Judd when they hear a door slam. Your daughter Josie has been seeing this kid, Colt, for a while and a few months ago things took a turn.
Jake had always gone out of his way to treat both of you right and show Josie how she deserves to be loved. He took her on weekly dates, always opened doors for her, and bought her chocolates and flowers for Valentine's day every year.
He worshipped her from the second she was born and somehow his worst nightmare still came true. His sweet little girl had settled for less than her worth.
In her defense, Colt had done everything right in the beginning and Jake had even liked him. That only made him feel worse to know that he had given his seal of approval. But Colt seemed like a gentleman. He always came to the door, he brought you flowers the first time you met him, and he made Josie happy. Until he didn't.
You've tried talking to her about it but at the end of the day, she's 18 years old and you can't control her. Besides, she's just like Jake, and telling her she shouldn't do something only makes her want it more.
Jake and Bradley share a look before standing and heading toward your daughter's room. They stand outside and can hear the two of them arguing over something. Jake tenses when he hears his daughter's voice raise an octave.
"Who the fuck is Emma?" She bites and Bradley stops Jake from ripping the door open.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Colt snaps back and Josie laughs.
"Do you think I'm stupid?" She asks cynically and Colt laughs bitterly.
"She's just a friend." His voice is a little too hostile for Jake's liking and it takes all of his restraint not to butt in.
"Oh," she laughs. “Thirty seconds ago you didn't know what I was talking about but now she's just a friend? Why is there a heart next to her name?" Your daughter is yelling now, and Jake feels pride swell in his chest at the fact she won't let this asshole manipulate her.
You walk in the door just in time to catch things as they escalate, your son now standing behind his dad and uncle as well. Between Jake, Bradley, and your six-foot-four quarterback son, they look like their own faction of the avengers.
Your husband shoots you a look and you already know what's going on. Your daughter has confided in you about Colt before, this doesn't come as a surprise.
Your eyes widen when you hear glass break followed by him screaming. "You're being a crazy bitch! Can you just shut the fuck up for once?!"
That's all it takes for Jake to swing the door open and you see the color drain from the kid's face. He's met with four angry faces and you can see the exact moment he regrets being born. Jake leads the pack, everyone else waiting on standby for his orders.
"You wanna say that again to my face?" His voice is deep, his southern drawl more evident than usual.
Jake's fighting days are in the past, but Judd is a different story. You see your son's hand twitch and place a gentle hand on his elbow, a silent instruction to keep himself in check.
Josie takes a step toward her father and Jake guides her to stand behind him. She looks up at Judd and you can tell they're having their own conversation with their eyes. They break eye contact after a few seconds and she moves to stand hip to hip with her brother as he places a protective arm around her shoulder.
Colt takes a step forward to try and get to your daughter and Jake blocks the doorway with his body.
"Don't even think about it." He growls and Colt freezes. He's staring past your husband, directly at Josie and you know he's trying to intimidate her. You've seen it all before, but this time it's not going to work.
You can see the anger and hatred on Colt's face and it makes your stomach turn. They have a stare down for a minute before you hear Bradley speak.
"Answer her question." He demands and the young man snaps to look at him.
"What?" He asks and Bradley stands up taller.
"Who is Emma? Is she the other girl?" He questions and Colt's silence is all the answer they need.
"You piece of shit!" Judd yells while launching toward him and much to your surprise, your husband moves so your son can get through.
"Jake!" You scold while trying to get through but Josie grabs your hand.
"Let him go, mom. This is a long time coming."
You look back at her and the pain in her eyes is enough to make you reconsider. Maybe Judd getting in a couple good blows in isn't the worst thing in the world.
You watch as your son sends Colt flying backward with an uppercut and before he can swing again, Jake stops him.
"That's enough, son. We don't kick someone when they're down. Go watch your mom and sister." He orders and your son does as he's told without any protest.
Jake walks over to the boy who's been mistreating his only daughter and kneels down to get eye-level with him.
"You have thirty seconds to get the fuck out of my house before I finish what he started." He says, his voice deathly calm.
Colt stumbles to his feet and starts trying to grab random things that he's left over and Jake stops him.
"Leave it." He instructs and the man stops to look at him. He scoffs when he sees your husband is serious and knocks his shoulder as he pushes past him. Jake lets it slide, and remains stoic as Colt stomps away.
He falters for a second to look at Josie again and your son uses his body as a shield while staring him down. Colt looks over at you and you step forward in front of both of your kids. As threatening as the three men are, nothing compares to the wrath of a mother.
"Go." You spit, your voice dripping venom. He turns on his heel and a few seconds later, the front door slams. As soon as he's gone, everyone visibly relaxes and Josie rushes forward into her father's arms.
Jake catches her with ease, smoothing her hair down as she cries into his chest.
"Shhhh," He coos. "I've got you, princess. Daddy's got you."
"I'm sorry." She cries and Jake's heart shatters in its cage.
"You have nothing to apologize for baby. It's not your fault. You couldn't have known this is how he would turn out. I'm proud of you for recognizing you deserve better and standing up for yourself." He whispers and her sobs start to subside.
Bradley squeezes your shoulder before letting himself out and Judd goes back to the living room. You watch as they stand like that for a few minutes before she pulls back and peers up at her father. Jake brushes the hair out of her eyes and leans down to kiss her forehead, just like when she was little.
"Do you want to go out for ice cream like we used to?" He asks and Josie nods eagerly. She's always been a daddy's girl and up until Colt came into the picture a year ago, Jake still took her out for weekly dinner and ice cream dates. It killed him the first time she canceled to spend time with her boyfriend instead.
"Okay, sweetpea. Get dressed and we'll go." He says softly before meeting you in the hallway and closing the door to give her privacy.
"I love you. You're an amazing father." You tell him while wrapping your arms around his neck. You lean up to give him a sweet kiss and his hands fall to rest on your waist.
"I love you too sweets. I'm so glad we have our girl back." He confides and you smile up at the sweet man before you.
"She was never gone, just lost." You say gently and he nods. Josie comes out wearing a sundress Jake bought her and he smiles.
You give her a tight hug and kiss her cheek. "Have fun, baby. I love you."
She smiles brightly and your heart swells when you realize this is the first time she's looked happy in months. "Love you too, mama."
You watch as they leave before plopping down on the couch next to Judd and he leans his head on your shoulder. You run your hand through his messy blonde hair the way you always have and he nuzzles in further. He's always been close to you and you lean over to kiss his head.
"You did good, honey. I'm proud of you." You murmur and he moves to lay his head in your lap.
"I just did what you and dad taught me. Always protect women." He mutters and you smile to yourself. The two of you settle into the couch to watch a movie and you sigh contentedly, happy that your little family is back to normal.

Parents weekend.
LiMoreau blurb. Really, really want Marie to meet Jordan's parents, but I do think we won't get that in the show.
Warnings: None? I don't think I went angsty enough, but I hope it's still enjoyable. Probably not proofread enough. Might fuck around and write more.
~3093 words.
''What the fuck?''
The light went out half-way to Jordan's room and Marie heard them curse from the end of the hall. She kept going, trying not to crush into anyone beside her now boyfriend, assuming by the voice she heard. Feeling for their slightly increased heartbeat, she reached out a hand to touch theirs.
''It's me,'' she heard a sigh and hands wrapped around her, ''What happened?''
''I'll find that electricity-wileding son of a bitch and kill him,'' the moment Jordan said that, light came back.
The looked at each other for a moment. Marie with casual, but growing tenderness, Jordan with worry that seemed to be easying up. They saw Marie blink out of something. She still was tracking their heartbeat, but also, thought like she stared too much.
''What's wrong?''
''What's up?''
They both huffed in annoyance, then laughed.
''I asked first,'' Marie smiled, her hands tightened around Jordan.
''Fuck,'' Jordan tugged her into their room, letting the door close with a bang. A hug became a bit broken, but Jordan still wanted to save it wrapping their arm around Marie's waist.
''The next weekend is the parents weekend,''
''Oh,'' Marie sort of glitched on that. She was lying to people about her parents, who obviosly would be ''too busy'' to visit. Guardian shit died down, so nobody would think to like...hire actors, right? But she said the other thing.
''Already?'' She pulled away to look at Jordan better, ''We should get you and Emma out of school,'' the conviction in her voice made Jordan smile.
''I have to talk to them, probably,'' Jordan sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed. They started tapping their leg on the floor and switched, ''I haven't spoken to my dad since the gala,''
Marie's expertise on parent-child relationship started with what little memories she had of hers and promising to beat up Emma's mom. She didn't really know what to say, so she sat next to Jordan, offering them her hand to take.
''I can be there, if you want,'' Jordan took her hand, intertwining the fingers, ''I can beat you dad, if you want me to,'' Marie leaned in closer, whispering. Jordan snorted with laighter.
''As much as I would want you to try that, no. Not this time. Do you really want to meet them, though? Be a distraction, basically. From the fact that my dad would rather choke then call me at least his child, let alone his daughter,'' Jordan's jaw clenched. They looked at their tapping leg and forcibly stopped it.
''I don't mind being a distraction. I'll even fuck around and agree that we are getting married after graduation,'' Marie smiled at horror in Jordan's eyes, ''In like Norway,'' she shrugged with most grace she could master.
''You really expect me to freeze my ass off for you?'' Jordan's default settings popped back in, but they still laughed, ''I hope it won't get that bad,'' they glanced at Marie, ''I mean, with my parents.''
''It doesn't have to be bad,'' Marie squeezed their hand, ''We'll do what we supposed to do, charm them out prying in your life. Or we can pretend that you are dating Emma and make them talk to her when she's a size of a glass of water.''
''I am the only one who's going to be puking when my parents come,'' Jordan fell back on the bed, but did chuckle.
''I'll hold your hair then,'' she settled in next to them on her side, ''Even if metaphorically, I think both of your haircuts are pretty comfortable for puking,'' she enjoyed Jordan's silent fight against laughter.
''I haven't puked since my graduation, I think,'' Jordan softly knocked on Marie's shoulder with their forehead and let out a heavy sigh.
''How much do you have to drink to puke?'' Marie mused, while Jordan untangled their fingers from hers and pushed for her to end up on her back, almost kicking their girlfriend out of the bed. They quickly pulled her back, putting their head on Marie's shoulder. Jordan chose to ignore her giggles.
''You really don't want to be a witness to that,'' they murmured, clearly trying to hug their worries away, ''And don't ask Andre about things like that,'' Jordan's grasp on Marie's waist became stronger.
''Watch me,'' Marie wasn't going to ask Andre , not really, ''It's going to be okay. Hopefully, we won't have to drink ourselves stupid,'' she brushed Jordan's hair away from their eyes.
''It might be, but don't get your hopes up,'' Jordan huffed, closing their eyes, ''Thank you,'' they said with a sigh.
''Too early to thank me,'' Marie decided to drop the topic for now. There is still a week to prepare.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ***
The week passed rather quickly. On Tuesday Jordan's mom texted, saying that they do plan on visiting, but probably for one evening because of work. Some kind of errands to run in town. Texting with Marie at the same time, Jordan told their parents about having a ''special someone'' and allowed their mother to sugesst meeting that someone herself.
By Thursday a reservation for four was made in a very bougie restaurant. Marie became wary of it and doubted her choice of dress. Jordan assured her that there is no constriction. No need to be bougie back, just as normal as possible. It was getting windier outside.
Friday came. Marie knocked on Jordan's door an hour before they agreed to meet. When they opened the door, Marie made a pose, to show off her black turtleneck dress and a nice bag, courtesy of Emma. Black shiny boots boots with a safe heel were bought with her help too.
''Do I need a jacket?'' When Jordan kept staring, Marie felt the need to break the silence.
''No, we are taking my car,'' they sounded irritated, coming back to the desk with accessories spread out. Closing the door behind her, Marie looked over Jordan's shoulder curiosly.
''It's fucking stupid,'' Jordan mutters, picking a gold and black ring. Their burgundy shirt has a couple of buttons undone, favorite chain missing, ''I'm still trying to impress them,'' they stilled when Marie's hand wrapped around their arm.
''I should be the one to impress them, right?'' She asked in a soft voice, trying to make Jordan look at her. They let out a heavy sigh.
''You shouldn't be doing anything,'' Jordan glances at Marie and back at the desk, their fingers toyed with a two different couples of cufflinks.
''I'm already here and I'm not leaving you to explain to your parents that you for sure did not imagine having a girlfriend,'' Marie didn't see Jordan's soft smile when she picked up both kinds of cufflinks, making them choose between a silver circle with black centre and a small red-ish triangle surrounded by gold. Without words, Jordan chose the latter.
They watched Marie intently. Someone who didn't know them both, might have thought that it was a gaze of a hawk. But Jordan was trying to bottle up the moment in which Marie stepped ready to support them regardless. And how she confidently fumbled with the cufflinks, but still managed to get it right in seconds.
''Do you think I'm ungrateful?'' Jordan asked. After the gala, in the dark of their room and their thoughts, Jordan tried to understand what it was like for Marie before she got here. And how their bitching and moaning about parents being mean might sound to her.
''No!'' Marie, when she finally got it, exclaimed, ''No, don't even think about it like that,'' she held their arms at the elbow for some reason, ''After what you told me, what I've heard from Emma and Cate, I can say that bad parents can eat a bag of dicks,'' she raised her eyebrows in mock-annoyance, like she said the most obvious thing.
''But I won't say any of this tonight,'' Marie's fury calmed down and she let go of Jordan, who was trying not to smile too much.
''At least tell them your name first,'' they chuckled. A loose curl fell to their face and Marie brushed it back. She debated commenting on how romantic this hair style looked.
''Anything else I shouldn't tell them?'' Marie asked with some doubt.
''If you call me your 'partner', my dad might joke about us role-playing as cowboys,'' those words slipped with such ease, even Jordan's smirk didn't tell Marie anything about how true this statement was.
''What that phrase was? Save a horse, ride a cowboy?''Marie said it with as much feighed innocence as she could muster. Jordan, browsing their accessory spread, stifled a laugh, pursing their lips together.
''I have a cowboy hat,'' they had to take a breath. They chose a golden ring connected with a delecate chain bracelet with another chain. Marie didn't understand at first that Jordan was offering it to her. So she gave them her hand.
In thickened silence, Jordan slowly slid cool metal onto Marie's palm, the ring fitting her perfectly. They wouldn't accept it back later.
''Never took you as a gold person,'' she murmured, glancing down at the desk.
''Oh, right,'' Jordan held her hand, bracelet already on, ''When I met Luke, he got his first brand deal with some mildly luxury jewelry brand. Took away as much as they let him. Gave it to all of us. Since then I've been giving gold a chance,'' their eyes met. Marie felt a sting of guilt, but also was happy to see them remember Luke fondly.
''Come,'' Jordan pulled her a bit so they both could fit in a mirror. Their squinted gaze examined both oufits. They even put their hands in pockets of their trousers. Then Jordan held one hand on Marie's waist and switched.
''We look good,'' Marie broke the silence, ''Very privileged,'' that did bring out a small chuckle out of Jordan. They made a mental note that Marie should never find out how easy it is for her to make them smile. Too much power.
''Yeah,'' now they had to look up a bit at her, ''Would you mind some redder lipstick?''
''I'm so smearing it all over you,'' Marie gave Jordan a chaste kiss and smiled. This is the best threat Jordan Li would ever face.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ***
When they pulled up to the restaurant, Marie got worried and glanced at Jordan, who was nervous the whole way here.
''Relax,'' Jordan sighed.
''You relax!'' Marie's defensiveness quickly faded and they both laughed.
Not a lot of things truly matter here, beside supporting Jordan and trying to have a nice evening. Marie already blended in once, she can to it again. And her and Jordan still can cling to each other, like they could not do yet back then.
Jordan's parents already waited in a far away booth. The restaurant itself was politely chattering. Every single person busy with their plate or partner at the table. Easy and calm. Marie squeezed Jordan's hand harder, mapping out options she could order here, eat and still hold up the conversation withour getting distracted.
The initial meeting went well. A burst of laughter and hands shaking, slightly awkward introducing each other another time. Everybody sat down and enjoyed a pause while the waiter was giving out the menus.
''So, Marie,'' Kayla started, looking at her child and their girlfriend over the menu, ''What was your first impression was of Jordan?''
''Did he try to kiss you too?'' Paul chimed in. It broke the softness of the first question.
''Well,'' Marie glanced at Jordan and smiled, watching them avert their eyes in embarassment, ''Jordan actually rejected me from a the course I wanted to do. And I was a fan,''
''Oh, that's a love story,'' Jordan's mom really seemed delighted by that, ''And let me guess, everything just fell into place?''
''Oh, yeah,'' Marie got a bit too excited for that answer, ''Jordan couldn't hate me for too long!''
''Even though it was very tempting,'' they remarked, allowing everybody at the table to see their smile.
''Did you hit him for that?'' Jordan's dad sounded a bit too giddy for this.
''No, I only hit people who make Jordan upset,'' Marie did her best to sound like she was joking. Her smile was polite despite Jordan trying stifle a laugh in the background.
The conversation moved towards the dishes and drinks. Some lies were spewed by Marie, like the one about drinking. She had enough beers already amongst friends and, apparently, drunk her head off at a party. She also lied about not having allergies, because frankly, she didn't know or remember. So she ordered a seafood pasta and supressed an urge to whisper to Jordan something along the lines of ''If I die, I'm sorry,''.
''We can switch,'' As if they read her mind, Jordan winked at Marie.
''I can certainly see what Jordan likes in you, Marie,'' Kayla said, taking the kids out of intimate haze.
''Yes, your actions speak for themselves,'' it sounded more wrong that it actually was, coming from Paul's mouth.
''There is a lot of us at God U. Next Guardian or Protector, whatever, is right around the corner. I just don't want anybody to get hurt,'' remembering the interview, Marie felt awful, gripping the side of her chair.
''I was fascinated by Marie's powers first, to be honest,'' Jordan straightened out, their fingers touched Marie's, ''Then, I had to come to an understanding that all of Marie is fascinating,'' they even sighed with dismay.
''To your absolute chagrin,'' Marie really hoped she used that random word she manage to remember right. She will get teased about it later.
''Just a little bit of chagrin,'' Jordan will never forget it.
''What do you like in Jordan?'' Paul asked. His and Jordan's whiskey glasses were identical.
''Oh, many things,'' Marie took a sip of her colorful icey-looking coctail. Nobody was sure it wasn't alcoholic, ''There isn't another Jordan, I think. No one can be that strong and resilient, but also loving and...,'' she had to take a breath, ''breathtaking, really. I like all of Jordan. Every single thing,''
There was silence. Kayla did bless Marie with an ''Aww'', but Jordan leaned in, kissing her cheek.
''You just HAD to outdo me on this,''
The food came and conversaiton flowed towards simpler things. Jordan did their best to stir it away from the topic of Marie's past. Marie, in turn, filled every opportunity for a story of Jordan's childhood to be repeated with her own anecdote about shenanigans at Godolkin. She even offered a memory with her sister, the one where her and Annabeth experimented with food as little kids, as a sacrifice to a nice evening. It kind of worked.
It was very hard to fight off offering of desert. Even with Marie's curiosity to try a fancy desert, between her pasta and Jordna's ravioli, they both were super stuffed. Kayla insisted on choosing something for them to take home, maybe eat in the morning and think of her and Paul. That struck a chord with Marie.
She tried to sort out her feelings during the evening. There was something stilted about the conversation, everybody hid some parts of them, but also really wanted to enjoy what they could show. The saddest part of it. Truth will come out behind closed doors, in half-lit rooms and with hushed voices.
''Thank you so much,'' Marie smiled and held Kayla's cold hands in hers, ''I would never thought to go here,'' she never would have known this place existed.
''Thank you, It was so great to meet you,'' The woman leaned in closer, ''I know I'm glad Jordan has someone to support him at God U,''
Marie nodded, still smiling. She glanced back at Jordan, who was talking about something with their dad. Everything seemed somewhat fine. Wishful thinking almost made Marie will Jordan to switch and for the dad to hug them in the form he's refusing to accept. But the boys shook hands and Jordan turned, noticing that Marie was looking.
''You are staring,'' they chuckled, swinging an arm around Marie's shoulders.
Paul's car got brought out first and after many almost hearfelt goodbyes, they left. Marie and Jordan stood in silence for a few minutes, huddling together for warmth.
''You mom has low blood pressure,''
''I'll let her know,''
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ***
The alarm clock showed 2:54 am. Only one lamp was lighting entirety of Jordan's room.
''That's it, I'm done,'' Marie abandonded the spoon next to the pistachio tiramisu and raised her hands. Giggling like a desert gremlin, Jordan took the rest of it for themselves.
''We probably should bring the macarons to Emma. And hide Emma,'' they remarked, taking another bite.
''Yeah. I should pay her at least in sweet stuff for her help. I still mostly use her make up,'' Marie nodded, glancing at the bag from the restaurant on the desk.
''You can use mine, you know,'' Jordan forgot about their tiramisu, the spoon softly touching their lips, ''Whatever suits you, I mean,''
''Let me guess,'' she moves closer and puts her head on their lap. After coming back, her and Jordan found their oldest and biggest hoodies to wear to bed, pants be gone, ''you have a really steady hand when it comes to stuff like eyeliner?''
''I have you know, I have a perfectly steady hand when it comes to everything,'' there wasn't another answer she could have expected from Jordan. They put their head on Marie's shoulder, their curls falling freely.
''Will you be able to sleep after this?'' Marie tapped the side of desert container.
''After knowing my parents are actually happy for me because of something beside of school? Barely,'' their hand found Marie's wrist.
''I meant the sugar and coffe,''
''Oh. there's barely any. I think,'' Jordan sat up straighter, looking at the container, as if it had the ingredient list, ''Lady fingers soaked in coffee, but cream is...''
''It's time to sleep, smartass,'' with a great effort, Marie dragged herself from the bed, took away the container, closed it and turned to Jordan, ready to bully them into cuddling.
But Jordan was already shuffling under the covers. Deciding not to say anything else, she turned off the lamp and climbed into the bed with them.
''I am smart and I do have a good ass,'' Jordan murmured, putting their head on Marie's shoulder. Her silent laugh made them smile too.
Sleep was sweet and sound untill Emma's distress signal came in few hours later.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
→ emma grace x gabe perreault
or hockey player meets top of her class (inspired by taylor swift's song so high school)
→ moodboard + au masterlist
★ ☆ au background + timeline ★ ☆
gabe meets emma first semester of freshman year at boston college
he's taking a french class for fun even though he's fluent in french
him and emma end up next to one another for the class
at first, emma's not so sure about gabe since he acts kind of dumb in the class so the professor doesn't know he's fluent
that annoys her because she thinks it's stupid when people play dumb even though they're super smart
his athletic persona also throws her off a bit and she thinks he doesn't ever care at all because he's just forced to be in his classes to be able to play
they start talking after the first week of classes when gabe's actively doing another class's work
emma actively laughs out loud when she sees him trying to do economics
"something funny?"
she shakes her head and thus starts their mini whispering argument about economics
eventually that leads to gabe asking for her number to get help later on since emma claims she's so good at econ
after a few tutoring sessions emma realizes she might've been wrong about gabe all along
the two become close fairly quickly and he convinces her to come to one of his games that weekend
she starts learning a lot about hockey from gabe whenever he'd start rambling on about it during their tutoring sessions
finally after a month of tutoring gabe decides to ask her out on a date once the boys convince him she'd say yes
she agrees!
they go out to a fancy dinner where they're both pretty nervous it goes super well & gabe kisses her before dropping her off at her dorm
they start dating a week after!
→ emma grace:
emma grace cooper
she's a twin! her brother, tyler, also goes to bc and he swims
her and her brother are super close and always have been hence why they went to the same college together
her birthday is june 15th, 2005!
she's the top of her class & is always at the library trying to get her work done
4.0 slay
she's also fairly fluent in french so her and gabe enjoy talking back and forth in french around his friends so they don't know what they're taking about
enjoys swimming like her brother and sometimes does laps with him during free swim on the weekends
doesn't know a lot about hockey, but she enjoys learning more from gabe
starts falling in love with going to the games and starts showing up early to be at the front of the glass to see everything better
always has her nose in a book & rants to gabe about what happens in each of them
gabe quite literally towers over her since she isn't that tall, but she likes that he's taller than her
wears a lot of neutral/cool tone colors
a bit of an extroverted introvert so once you get to know her she becomes super talkative and can never shut up
talks gabe's ear off a lot when they're hanging out
makes gabe go to the library with her a lot and half the time he isn't even studying and just staring at her instead of
enjoys calling gabe dorky in an endearing way and he secretly loves it
→ gabe perreault:
younger brother to jacob, jeremy, and liliane perreault
he's fairly close with all of his siblings
mostly goes to lili when he needs relationship advice since he knows his brothers would just chirp at him
birthday is may 7th, 2005!
he's been playing hockey since he could walk since his dad is a famous professional ice hockey player & all of his siblings are hockey players as well
he's now a forward at boston college and was drafted 23rd overall by the new york rangers
he's best friends with his roommate, will smith
he's instantly attracted to emma when he first meets her and they sit together in class
he's actually super smart and only acts dumb sometimes because somehow he's got in his brain that athletes can't be smart at the same time
emma definitely changes that perspective for him
was super super nervous when he first asked her out
he's more of an introvert so him and emma balance well because they can both agree staying in is better than going out
loves listening to emma ramble on about what book she's currently reading and even starts reading them too!
when she goes to his game for the first time he almost combusts when he sees her in the sweatshirt he lent her for it
emma most definitely tries to give his style more variety so it isn't just sweats and sweatshirts all the time
the guys start chirping at him a lot when they find out he likes emma
can get a little possessive and jealous sometimes what emma says goes "walk him like a dog"
his siblings love her when they first meet emma
he enjoys calling emma "pretty girl" or "emmers" or "em"
→ quick author's note:
hii!! a little break in the 700 celly requests to introduce my newest au i've been saying for months i'd do!! i absolutely adore gabe and this au idea was actually sent in by anon in my inbox, so whoever you are thank you so much for the idea i love it!! i can't wait to develop their story more, so please send some requests in for emma and gabe too!!

The Father-Daughter Dance
Fluffy and wholesome!Mike and Abby sibling bonding
Word Count: 1988
Summary: When Abby's bully tells her she can't go to the school dance, it's up to Mike to save the day. Risking his wallet, as well as his last nerve with the local Karen...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• • •
A few months after what happened at Freddy's, things seemed to be going back on track for Mike and Abby. Mike got another job with better hours so he could spend more time at home with his sister, she was socializing more with kids in her class, and things seemed like they were looking up.
Soft snores were heard from Mike's car as he waited outside for school to let out. The young man sat in the driver's seat with his arm draped over his eyes to block from the sun. But he didn't have to wait much longer because the back door opened suddenly and slammed shut a second later.
Mike jolted upright and immediately made a fist, a reflex when he was frightened (that trigger was subtly worse after everything they went through) but Mike instantly relaxed when he saw it was just Abby getting in the backseat. He instead ran a hand down his face to wake himself up.
"Hey, Abbs. How was your day?"
"F-fine." But her voice was wavering. She was certainly not fine.
Mike looked up from his hand and turned to look at her, seeing her eyes were red and she was sniffling. This made him tense again. Who did this. Who hurt his baby sister? Was it a bad grade on a test? That bully girl on the playground? He took a shaky breath, willing himself to be calm. His voice was soft and gentle when he asked,
"Abby, what's wrong?"
She fidgeted with a pink flier in her hand, "Th-the Father-Daughter dance at school is coming up and Emma told me I can't go because I don't have a dad..."
He knew somebody had hurt her feelings. Freaking Emma. He could tell she was going to be a little snot when he saw her at the open house. What with her perfect little blonde braid and her mom's minivan that had a bumper sticker that said, 'my child is an honor student.' Great. Just great.
Mike took another breath. After the mall incident and losing his job at Auto-Zone, Mike learned to keep calm, or at least keep from showing people how he really felt. This wasn't something he could fight his way out of.
"Abby, please don't cry. Emma doesn't know anything, ok?"
"You mean I can go to the dance anyway?" She lifted her head, her eyes lighting up with hope.
Shoot. He hadn't thought that far ahead yet. If he had to plan something, he would have suggested getting pizza and letting her pick a movie to rent to cheer her up. Now he realized that was stupid. Of course she wanted to go to the dance like everyone else.
Well, even if their dad wasn't around, Mike could take her. But the only problem was he wasn't much of a dancer. Maybe every once in a while, he'd goof off while cooking or at the grocery store, but that was just when he was trying to make Abby laugh and when no one was looking. He hadn't really danced in front of other people since the Prom. But if it would make her happy...
"Uh, if you..uh...you want to go then I can take you." Mike cleared his throat that was suddenly dry, "Sure we can go."
A squeal suddenly rang in his ears as Abby jumped up and threw her arms around him, climbing around his seat so she could give him a great, big hug. Every tear she had shed before seemed to have evaporated in a second, "Thank you, Mike! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!"
He chuckled and patted her arm, "It's no problem. I want you to have fun. But sit back in your seat, okay? I'm gonna start heading out of here."
She giggled and hopped back before putting on her seatbelt, "This is going to be great! Can we stop by the store before we go home for a dress?"
"What's wrong with your purple dress? You know, with the polka dots?" Mike asked, remembering the last time they went shopping. That was for an Easter dress, but did they get that this year or last...?
"That dress is not cool for a dance, Mike. And we got to match. Your tie needs to match my dress."
"I need a tie now too?"
"Yeah! And matching bouquet and croissant." Abby gave him a toothy grin through the rear-view mirror.
Mike tried to stifle a laugh, "I think you mean boutonniere and corsage."
"Yeah, that!"
If she wasn't so giddy, Mike would be sweating over how much this was going to cost. But he didn't have a choice. This clearly meant a lot to her and if this is what she needed then heck with it, he was going to make sure she had the best night of her life. He was going to make that little bully Emma eat her words.
• • •
"Owww, Mike!" Abby complained as her brother tried to fix her hair for the dance, "You're hurting me!"
"Don't blame me. Your head is a rat's nest." He squinted through the dark mess, armed only with a Cinderella brush.
"No, it's not!"
"I'm sorry. A curly rat's nest."
"No, it's nooot!!" Abby protested again but she was giggling all the while. She had been excited like this all day, reassuring Mike he had made the right decision by taking her. Even if the recliner in the living room had been calling his name...
When her hair was finally tamed then Mike slid a headband over as the finishing touch, "Alright, all done. What do you think?"
She hurried over to the mirror to see how she looked and instantly smiled at the results. She had chosen a pink dress with sequins on the top, lots of tulle for a tutu-like skirt, and a ribbon at the waist with a fake flower on the side that matched her headband. "I love it!"
Mike walked up behind her, smiling softly as he admired both their reflections. He hadn't been able to talk her out of the pink dress so he wore a black button-up, slacks, and a matching pink tie. It wasn't his color, but this night was of course not meant for him, "You look beautiful, Abbs. You're going to be the prettiest one there."
"You really think so??"
Prettier than Emma, Mike thought to himself before pinning the boutonniere onto his shirt. Once that was on then he knelt down and held out the corsage, "Just one last thing..."
Abby held out her dainty little wrist so he could slide on the corsage, also showing off her glittery nails that Mike had helped her with earlier. Man, it had taken a lot of work to get them ready for this dance. Who knew it took this much work? He felt sick to his stomach thinking about a few years down the road when she wanted to start wearing makeup...
"There. All ready for the dance. How we feeling?"
Mike nearly fell over when she tackled him in another great-big Abby hug, "You're the best big brother ever. I wish dad were here but...I'm really glad you're taking me."
Okay, that one got him. He hardly knew what to say. He quickly blinked his watery eyes as he wrapped his arms around her, "Abby, you know I'd do anything for you. I'm happy to take you. Come on, let's get going."
"Hehe, okay!" She eagerly grabbed his hand and pulled him to the door.
• • •
Mike stepped into the gymnasium with an expression like a deer in headlights. It was all set up for the dance with streamers, a disco ball, a DJ, and a snack table. It was mostly dark with flashing multi-colored lights while The Sign by Ace of Base played blaringly over the speakers. Yep. This brought back memories. Welp, at least he always had the snack table.
He looked down to Abby, "Hey Abbs, you want some--?"
But she didn't hear him over the music, "Hey, Ashley!" She dashed off to chat with her friend.
Mike chuckled and let her go have her fun while he went to get some food. But to his horror, Emma's mom was manning the table, helping serve snacks and drinks. He took a deep breath and forced his expression to remain neutral. No one but him had to know how much he hated her.
"Oh, hi, Mike!" Her nasal voice rang out.
"Lisa." He kept his head down and grabbed a plate for a couple cookies. These had better be chocolate-chip and not oatmeal raisin. Stop acting like it's so much healthier, Lisa, they're freaking cookies.
"I'm surprised to see you guys here! Are you allowed to? You know, since, this is meant for fathers and daughters and all." Mike could see where Emma got all that charm from.
1, 2, 3...1, 2, 3...1, 2, 3...just breathe and relax. Breathe and relax.
"Yep," Was all he replied, taking a sip of punch.
"My David is out there with our sweet little Emma. Isn't she just a peach?" Lisa pointed to a man and little girl out on the dance floor, both doing the cabbage patch. Like complete dorks.
"The peachiest." He took a bite of his cookie then instantly regretted it. Oatmeal raisin. Dang it, Lisa.
Thankfully, Abby ran up to him to save him from anymore small talk, "MikeMikeMike! They're playing my favorite song! Can we go dance??"
"Uh, sure." Mike let her drag him to the dance floor, not far from Emma and her dad. He left his plate of disappointment behind at the snack table.
"Have fun!" Lisa waved them off.
"Have fun," Mike mocked under his breath.
When they were in the center of the gym, Abby pumped up her fists one at a time and bounced up and down. Her little curls flying all around her head. She was so cute, he was gonna die.
"Mike! You're supposed to dance with me!"
"Uh..." Mike kind of copied what she was doing, but looked around for ideas. He was not going to do the cabbage patch, that was for sure. Gosh, he hadn't been to anything like this in years.
Next Abby made a peace sign and waved it over her eyes until Mike mirrored her, the music pulsing under their feet. He could still hear her laughter and he really hoped it wasn't because he looked stupid. He just had to pretend he was in his kitchen and people weren't looking. But honestly, who cares if they were? He couldn't be as bad as David, so why couldn't he blow off a little steam?
Mike finally relaxed. He grabbed Abby's hands and swung their arms back and forth. Now this wasn't so hard. Hey, he was having a little fun too. This night wasn't just about her (though it was 95% about her) but this was about them being together and it was honestly better than he thought it was going to be.
When the song started to end, Mike finished it off by spinning her around and the two shared matching grins. They were going to treasure this moment forever. Despite everything that had happened in the past, at least they had each other. Brother and sister against the world.
"Mike!" Abby bounced up on her toes.
"Yeah?"
"After this, could we rent a movie and order a pizza?"
He laughed. Now there was an idea. "Absolutely. And while we're out, maybe a box of cookies. Chocolate-chip."

Scott summers being intensely hated by a large chunk of the X-men fandom is so wild to me but defending him is even wilder cause it's like. Yes of course he made mistakes yes of course he is frustrating sometimes but also like. Yeah, sorry the orphaned child solider with undiagnosed autism ( among other things ) on divorce number 4 doesn't communicate perfectly. You see why yes he could have navigated the "dead fiancé came back to life right after he moved on and was married to a new girl who turned out to be a clone of his dead fiancé who wasn't dead who then turned into a demon sorceress and also somehow involved is the man who biologically experimented on him in his orphanage as a child unconsented" situation better. He could have. But have you considered. Have you considered the fucking insanity of what you just recited. Have you considered that maybe . Maybe perfectly navigating that situation among the related that came after it was. Hard. I'm sorry hes mean you see they hit him with rocks as a kid and his dad left to become space famous and his adoptive dad/leader could read minds at all times and his kid like- essentially for his ability to be with him died in his arms. He's a little stressed. Yes.
It's actually so wild because people never actually slow down to examine the nuances of events and just expect a character to magically know the right thing to do, even in absolutely bizarre situations that a real human being will never have to navigate. Like, yes, perhaps with 20/20 hindsight and no baggage beforehand, he could have handled the "just got unfused from the ancient mutant villain Apocalypse and found after wandering around the planet with no solid idea who he was for months and has very clear trauma in the aftermath but his wife brushes him off (ooc) and so goes to Emma for therapy but she takes advantage of his mental instability and coerces him into a psychic affair after he told her no repeatedly" situation but no real human person has ever experienced this and thus there's no defined "right" way to navigate that clusterfuck. It's, ironically, a very human trait to mess up in a situation like that.
Cyclops is a deceptively deep character in the sense that SO MUCH has happened to him, but you'll find that no one ever writes the trauma from his previous life-altering event rolling over onto the next (unless it's specifically Dark Phoenix related) for a consistent story. Nor do people include the sheer amount of trauma compacted into this man in their judgment of his character/morality.
TL;DR: if people slowed down and summarised events to their core, they'd stop jumping down Cyclops' throat so much. Not saying he's perfect, but he's doing his best given the tools he's got.

There's been something going on in my head lately. This topic is about Shinichiro and I feel disappointed. Because Shinichiro is a man who I see as the ideal older brother and parent, who is really good-hearted and loves his siblings more than anything. This is definitely Shinichiro. He is a really good-hearted man who can be easily trusted. But today, some of the things written in Izana's letter confused me a lot. We had discussions about this issue on Twitter and many things came to my mind. Our topic is this friends;
Shinichiro knew that Izana was brother to Emma, so he went to the Philippines to pick up his brother. He picked up his younger brother and went back to Japan. He gave Izana an incredibly beautiful day on the first day, and in fact, in Izana's words, gave him the best day of his life. He gave her the opportunity to live her beautiful day. Afterwards, she continued to take care of him and spend the day with him. What bothers me is that Shinichiro knew that Emma and Izana were sisters. Why didn't he come and tell Emma this in the first place? Was it such a difficult thing to say that you found your brother? For God's sake, he wasn't just Emma's brother, but theirs too. As soon as he found Izana, why didn't he bring her home and introduce her to Grandpa? Why didn't he take Mikey and Emma to their orphanage visits? Why did he promise Izana an empty family?
so apparently, from the letter we saw in the trailer, we find out that shinichiro actually /knew/ that emma and izana were related and still kept them separate when he could have adopted him...shinichiro, that's so sick and twisted shit is there an adult who didn't do izana wrong? The adoption process is surely hard but at this point he could have simply brought emma to visit him and introduce izana to mikey when he got to see him at the orphanage. Mikey was positive about the idea (as we see in the manga) so why didn't Shinichiro do anything about it?When he talks to mikey asking him his opinion on having another brother , he was already an adult, so why didn't he do anything? It's like he kinda forgot about izana because they're not "related", but at that point, why did he get izana's life in the first place? Because he was Emma's brother? And like this we get to the initial point again: he could have, at least, introduced them all
Well firstly I'm pretty sure Shinichiro didn't pick Izana up from the Philippines at all. Since Izana was in a foster home adoption type place and then juvie in Japan (that's how he met Kakucho at the foster home and then the S62 at juvie). I'm also not sure how a Japanese teenager would've been just allowed to take a kid from the Philippines to Japan like that. Actually Izana doesn't even seem to have known he had family in the Philippines until Karen told him. He thought she was his mum and that he had the same dad as Shinichiro (not clear if he knew the guys name or what he looked like though).
Tumblr media
I agree though, from our perspective it does seem like Shinichiro made a big mistake here with not introducing Izana to the others or at least telling them. However Shinichiro didn't have our perspective. Shinichiro had no idea what was going to happen or what the consequences of doing that would be. I feel like this is one of those things which will divide the fandom, with some ageeeing and some disagreeing (both are totally fine though).
Like I think Shinichiro was right not to rush into things here, taking on the care of another child is a big responsibility and Shinichiro was already practically raising two, not to mention what kind of impact a change in environment could have on Izana's mental health, a kid he had known for a few hours at this point. I don't know a lot about the irl adoption process but I'm pretty sure you have to spend more then a few hours with the kid before deciding anything. I think that's why they then started exchanging letters, as a way for them to get to know each other better and get more comfortable with each other.
Tumblr media
I'm guessing the next part of Shinichiro's plan was to get to know Izana better and get Izana more comfortable with him before introducing him to the others. We know Shinichiro was at least thinking about introducing Izana to them because of the question he asked Mikey.
Tumblr media
But then I'm guessing what stopped him was all the complications. Aka Mikey ripped Sanzu's face open and Izana beat up a bunch of kids and then basically forced one to take his own life. Put them together and they don't get along and you're going to have a big problem on your hands. Like I understand why Shinichiro wanted to move slowly here, this isn't something that should've been rushed. Not to mention the warning signs Izana was already showing towards Mikey by asking Shinichiro to stop talking about him and saying hearing about Mikey gives him a headache.
Tumblr media
I'd say the main mystery here is why he didn't tell Emma/ bring Emma with him to visit. I'm not sure if he didn't wanna get her hopes up or if he wss worried about her or Izana's reaction (though they both seem like they would've been positive), or if he didn't want to make Emma keep the secret from Mikey but didn't want to let Mikey know yet. That is a bit of mystery.
Also to be completely fair to Shinichiro I don't think he ever would've expected things to play out the way they did. He was only a teenager himself when he first met Izana and even as a young adult it's a big responsibility to bring Izana into the house and make sure all his siblings were doing ok. He clearly wanted to unite them all but wanted it done in the correct way. Shinichiro has only been shown to want the best for his siblings so I'm sure he thought he was doing the right thing here. Though obviously this is just my take and we're all going to have different opinions on this.

and the other thing is like. it's complicated. he is generally not the worst listener. he is, demonstrably, by her side when the cards are down, even if he doesn't really get her. he's on his daughter's side when he finds out she's skitter. when taylor says she doesn't like rachel, he doesn't offer any platitudes, he just nods. he doesn't dig into what she says or ask for elaboration when she vaguely mentions the bullying, and she's grateful for that. but her gratefulness leads her to feel like she, quote, "owes him" a confession about some of the bullying:
I felt like I owed him something for that. Sighing, I admitted, “Like, at school. The, uh, the people who’re giving me a hard time? They sort of ganged up on me on Monday. Just, you know, taking turns insulting me. It’s why I needed to get away and went downtown.” I felt embarrassed, saying it, because it was humiliating enough to live through without having to recap it, and because it felt so disconnected from the rest of the conversation. But if I didn’t say it right then, I don’t think I would’ve been able to.
and it feels really revealing as to their relationship that she thinks he Deserves the information about the bullying he clearly wants, but is humiliated not just by recapping it, but because it "feels disconnected from the rest of the conversation." of course baring the trauma feels more humiliating when it's the unacknowledged elephant in the room, when her father approaches conversations w/ her like she has a normal life despite the reality that she's being horrifically abused.
and after she opens up a bit, we get yet another reason why doing it sucks for her:
My dad sort of went still.  I could see him compose himself and choose his words before he asked, “Not to diminish how much it sucks to get put down like that, but they didn’t do anything else?” I raised my eyebrows in question as I chewed.  They had, kind of, but I couldn’t really say ‘They used Mom’s death to fuck with my head’ without having to explain the Emma thing. “Anything like what happened in January?” he asked. I lowered my eyes to my plate, then shook my head.  After a few moments I said, “No.  January was a one time thing.  They’ve pulled smaller ‘pranks’ since then, hassled me, but no repeat performances on that front.”  I made air quotes with my fingers as I said ‘pranks’. “Okay,” my dad said, quietly, “That’s a relief to know.”
earlier in his interlude, danny hears her come in at Three Ay Em In The Morning, is about to go check on her to make sure she's okay, and then hears her making a snack and decides "well, if she's making a snack she must be fine enough to leave alone, that's a relief." and that's exactly what he's doing here--he's hearing that something awful happened to her, he's checking that she's "fine enough to leave alone," and then when he decides that she is, he says "that's a relief" and changes the subject from the bullying altogether. saying "not to diminish how much that sucks" does not change that it diminishes how much it sucks to immediately respond to her confession with "okay, but it wasn't as bad as the worst time, right?"
I didn’t feel like sharing any more. You’d think I would feel better, after opening up, but I didn’t. I felt frustrated, angry, awkward. It was a reminder that I couldn’t have a real conversation with my dad like I used to be able to. More than anything, I felt guilty. Part of the guilt was because I’d apparently let my dad think that every time I was bullied, it was like it had been that day, nearly four months ago, when things had been at their worst.
and it's so fucking sad that she feels guilty for "letting him" assume that something That Bad could be happening regularly, when he was the one not opening opportunities for communication. he's trying to carry on like everything is normal, thus divorcing their interactions from reality & ensuring they can't have real conversations.
& i really love how he's a dysfunctional parent in a completely plausible and understandable way. he lost his wife and entered a depressive state where he wasn't able to care for taylor until his friend gave him a kick in the rear about it, and now he's just barely able to scrape by in the "acting like a semblance of a normal household" department. he has no support systems to lean on, he has no idea how to help taylor, the only thing he's capable of is desperately hoping that she's Fine Enough to leave alone. and i think he lies to himself about how fine she is, because if she wasn't fine enough, what would he even do about that? it's such an encapsulation of the failure of the nuclear family that he's one of her only real avenues for help despite not being in a place to give it. it hurts both of them, although it certainly hurts her more, because she is the child being abused and systematically neglected, with no real recourse for it. it's why i really like that it's portrayed as understandable when taylor leaves the house, and why it's so grating that a return to the nuclear family is portrayed as a sign of her healing at the end. rest in peace worm criticism nuclear family you were good while you lasted

Monchel raising Emma?
Disclaimer: Ross is a bit of a bitch, Mondler doesn't exist.
● It starts with Monica doing everything she can to help Rachel. She goes to her appointments, she cooks her healthy meals, she buys her vitamins and, overall, she's just there for Rachel while she's pregnant;
● It prompts Phoebe to say one random day that Monica is "the dad";
● Ross is pissed, he throws a tantrum, he raises his voice, but Rachel very calmly tells him to go fuck himself. How dare he be pissed that she's getting help from someone, from his sister no less, and when did he even ask her if she needed help?
● But they put up the conversation about what they are to the very last minute. Literally. Rachel is in labor, Monica can't be inside the room, and she just starts crying because she wants Monica to be there. When they finally convince the doctor to let Monica stay in the room, all Rachel can say is that Monica needs to see her daughter being born, and that settles it;
● From that day on, they're a family;
● Monica has so much patience and she always wanted to have kids, so she takes up the part very easily;
● Rachel is very happy to let her change all diapers, but, in her defence, Monica is the only one that can make the task look like the happiest moment of her life;
● Monica's parents aren't exactly supportive at first. They keep pretending it's not happening and they definitely call Ross more than once to talk about how crazy they think that is. It's not until a Christmas party that they see Monica raising Emma to put the star on the tree that they start acting more supportive of it;
● Emma's first words are "Mama" and she says it looking at Rachel, but them she looks to the side and says the same thing looking at Monica, and both of them cry for hours after that;
● They move to Paris because of Rachel's work and they stay there for over three years before coming back to New York. In that time, Emma learns a lot of French so, when they get back, they go around showing everybody their daughter can speak another language. Emma and Phoebe are constantly speaking French together;
● While they were introducing Emma to solid foods and making her taste everything, Monica would also make some of the things for Rachel because God knows her partner still is a picky eater. Joey would also join them simply because he loves to eat;
● Joey, by the way, is Emma's favorite uncle;
● First day in school was harder for Monica and Rachel than to Emma (and Ross as well). The girl walked inside the school with her big backpack and didn’t even look back, but Rachel was sobbing the whole time. Monica at least waited for her to get inside first;
● Monica is the one to deal with the hard things. She has a first aid kit always ready, she puts the band aids on the cuts and scratches, she always knows what medicine to give her when she's sick, and she's basically ready for anything at all;
● On Mother's Day, Rachel is usually the one to get up early to help Emma make breakfest for Monica. It's a surprise they don't burn down the kitchen at first, but Monica knows the food they bring her to bed is barely eatable;
● Oh, Mother's Day at school is also a big thing for them. Since the start they make sure the school knows Emma has too moms (not news for them since it's where Ben used to go as well), and they're always in the front row to watch the school dances and all of that. Emma makes them handmade cards too and they keep all of them inside a box on the back of their closet;
● They decide to have more kids when Emma is five, probably. It's when they find out Monica can't be pregnant. They have a conversation about it and Rachel confess that she hated being pregnant and has no wish to go through that again. They decide to adopt then, but it takes a while. It's the early 00' and they're a gay couple, so yeah, a lot of patience is involved;
● The twins come along when they had already lost hope, actually. Emma is eight already and she becomes the best big sister ever;
● When Emma hits her teenage years, Rachel is the one that tries to keep her from going to parties and such. It's not until Monica reminds her that she used to sneak out from her parent's house that Rachel decides to stop trying to put Emma inside a bubble. Monica becomes her driver, though, driving her to the parties and them going to pick her up afterwards. It's a very clear rule that she has to go back at a reasonable hour and Monica has to pick her up from the same place she left her. It works very well. Even if Emma does enjoy to party, she's also a very responsible kid;
● Rachel almost faints when Emma says she has a boyfriend, however, and not even Monica is very happy about it either. Surprisingly, Joey and Chandler are the ones that take it the hardest. They make it a hobbie to scare Emma's potential boyfriends away;
● Also, throughout the years, there's tons of family photos. The house is filled with them (also, it's filled with so much love)

Am I going full tinfoil hat mode? Yes. Is this going to stop me? No.
Tumblr media
Episode 5 Spoilers
We saw what happen when Melindas mom discovered about her magic:
Tumblr media
"It is too dangerous, mom have to take it away". Them Melinda refuses, because of course she does, her dad said it was powerfull and she really like those powers. So they fight about it and it does not end well. And what is her dads reaction?
Tumblr media
Not consoling a child that just lost her mother, not assuring it wasn't her fault (even when in the fight it was clear that she was scared and, at list, not fully in control of her powers). I was to blaim her.
Now, cut to the shows present. Edred keep saing that Emma is the problem, that Melinda have to use her full power, and to this I prose 2 ideas (complementary ones):
1. Emma is not the one holding the powers back. She might have been the catalyst: Melinda would just ignore the destruction her powers were causing because "greater good", but Emma forced her to look at it. But once Melinda saw it, it took her back to the day she lost her mom. That is way we see the magic forest she use to live in in the flashback at the ghost ship, Melinda was the one afraid of what her powers could do to people, Emma is just a convinient excuse for why she can't use them.
2. In her past, she was afraid to use her magic. In fact she meet Edred when she was still afraid. He saw her having to overcome that fear to became the power sorceress we saw in the start of episode 1. Now not only she doesn't remenber him, but her fears are back. He don't want Emma to be there not only because he want Melinda back, but because it is easy to say "that Emma person is the problem" them to say "I guess you didn't really healed from your trauma and, even though I tried my best to make sure nothing harmed you in, I didn't saw it". Edred feels guilty to see his beloved is still struggling with something that not only he thought was over, but he knows he needs her to do if they are going to have any chance of winning ("you are the most powerfull of us 3" and all that)
In both cases Emma isn't the problem, she is just a convinient excuse for both Edred and Melinda not face their problems
(Again, I have no real evidence to support this, but I decided to give my two cents anyway)

you should soooo tell my your remary thoughts
HI HERE ARE MY FAVE REMARY HEADCANNONS
They love holding hands and always do whenever they walk together. literally these two never stop touching each other even if it's just their pinky's they HAVE to be holding each other some way otherwise they'll explode
Remus doesn't like parties and Mary does so whenever Gryffindor have a party Remus will sit in the corner by the window with the smokers while Mary goes out to socialise with her friends and dance. Before she leaves him tho she'll put on a shit tone of lipstick and kiss his cheek so it stays on just to make sure that nobody thinks he's single and tries anything before she goes back. Remus pretends to hate it but really loves how wanted it makes him feel
Remus' favourite thing about Mary is her confidence. he admires her so much and how she can always hold her head high despite the prejudice she faces for being muggleborn. he can only wish that he will be even a tiny bit confident as she is despite him being a werewolf
Speaking on werewolves. In a cannon universe where they're together i imagine the prank happening on the same day or the day after Mary getting attacked by Mulciber. In this universe i'm saying that Remus did care about the prank for the plot. So Mary is shut out in her room because of Mulciber and doesn't want to speak to anyone but Lily is trying to get her talk to her about what happened and while she's doing so makes a comment about Remus also refusing to come out of his room. Mary immediately thinks that the Slytherins had also hurt Remus and goes to the boys dorm to see him (she is the most protective gf in the world) but when Remus opens the door and tries to get out of telling her what happened she mentions that the Slytherins hurt her too in a way to tell him that she understands and Remus sees RED
Hear me out. Remus Lupin is not intimidating in the slightest. So when he goes to Mulciber he's laughed at for even thinking that he could take him. But i hc that Remus knows every defensive spell on the book (because he wants to be able to protect those he loves like his dad protected him)
Remus does eventually tell Mary everything and that's how Mary finds out that Remus is a werewolf
SPEAKING OF PARENTS. Lyall and Hope ADORE Mary. Mary is literally every in laws dream. She's polite and helping and all smiles around them and they can clearly see how much she cares for Remus and how happy she makes him
AND MARYS PARENTS LOVE REMUS TOO. They were skeptical at first because of the scars and the scrawniness of him but once he started talking they fell in love. (and they're obsessed with his welsh accent. they love how he speaks)
AND MARYS YOUNGER SIBLINGS ARE OBSESSED WITH REMUS. Mary in my hcs has an older sister and two younger brothers and because her brothers are so small they think Remus is the coolest person ever. They very bluntly asked him where he got his scars from when they first met and Mary told them that Remus fought a dragon
Yknow the "she's like a shot of espresso" audio of Andrew Garfield talking about Emma Stone?? Yeah that's actually Remus Lupin talking about Mary MacDonald
Remus loves burying his face in Marys neck. It's his favourite place to be and he loves kissing her there
Mary loves kissing Remus' scar on his face and hands. She's always sitting on his lap and running her hands through his hair
Remus LOSES HIS MIND when Mary wears short skirts
THEYRE JUST SO PERFECT YOUR HONOR IM GOING TO THROW UP AT THE THOUGHT OF THEM
