#mortal kombat#bi han#sub zero#lin kuei#kuai liang#smoke#tomas vrbada#cyrax#sektor#you don't have an idea how this makes me happy to see bi han put in the middle (leader) position in two different timelines#especially considering his bad social skills and/or lack of patience for people in general XD#the most surprising things about those pictures is that the right place of bi han is taken be person who seems he less likely choice?#i mean kuai liang is his blood-related brother and second in line to the title of grandmaster#but it is smoke who is almost all the time occuping bi han's right side#bi han and sektor are implied to be on good terms in alternative and new timeline yet it is cyrax on sub zero's righ side#what makes sense as he is more active in the cyrax-sektor duo#also yellow color should be forbidden in lin kuei as everyone who has this color (Cyrax & Scorpion Kuai Liang) somehow betrayes the clan#just saying

#gopher art#sketchbook#mortal kombat#mk monster#*twirls hair* girl he is so cryptic. love a mysterious guy#for those who dont know him: he's one of the last fights in deception's konquest mode. you arent warned about him. he isnt explained after#it is literally the hardest non optional fight in that game mode. he claims to be the champion of the elder gods. this is unconfirmed#its bizarre and i fucking ADORE it#my theory doesnt really go any further than as its written. other than the idea that Monster has been the champion for a long fucking time.#and that he was once normal (or what passes as normal for whatever realm he's from) but being influenced by the elder gods for so long has#had a sort of... corrupting effect? their power has rubbed off on him and altered him#when Scorpion is chosen as their champion (mkd ending especially) he hasnt been under their influence long enough for it to change him#i have another unrelated theory where he's an alternate timeline version of scorpion who- due to Fuck You I Said So logic-#has been snatched up by the elder gods. and hes been in their service for so long he doesnt know who he is#hes simply Monster. my object ocs story is already waayyy too complicated without introducing the concept of them living in different centuries or timelines but it would be a cool idea if one of them was like from 1800s china and one of them was from 1980s new york city etc and how they'd interact in that way
reminds me of a theory that i saw very early into hfjone where somebody theorized that the characters might be from different time periods and that amelia was actually from the 80s, so when she returned to their world she wouldn't even be able to find liam because he wouldn't have been born yet. interesting concept

Premise: ADA!Chuuya and ADA!Dazai, both going straight after a life in the PM, but they don't know each other.

Chuuya had a hunch.
A grave, destructive hunch whenever he saw Dazai's eyes darken when he thought all heads had turned away.
The Agency was ruthless, but only when it needed to be. It had been carved into them, one way or the other.
Switching sides was more than shedding a coat, but symbols made it easier to draw a line in the sand.

Now, in face of the truth, Chuuya sometimes wondered if Dazai abhorred black for the same reasons as he did.
If he looked in the mirror and realized how dangerously easy it would be to just slip into the grooves of what they had once been.
If his sins were the demons that kept him up at night.
Or if it was the mistakes, the losses, the screw-ups that writhed and crawled in his veins, failure a bone-deep, burnished black he would never cleanse his hands from.
Chuuya would wade through an ocean of corpses if it meant the Agency's safety.
Those two years had been so lonely. Hanging between the underground and the surface world like a stray mutt who had been only trained to kill, kill, kill, and knew nothing else.
Waiting for the light had been so lonely.
Surely, Dazai knew what it felt like.
Chuuya didn't know Dazai, but the Agency had given him the benefit of a doubt when he'd first joined, and then time and time again as a fully qualified member.
Assholery did not guarantee suspicion, and unless and until he gave off the slightest hint of malice, Chuuya would find it in himself to keep making excuses for him.

follows a young queer white woman who’s the guitarist in a punk band at a warehouse-turned-housing-and-venue, and who teaches at a predominantly Black school
when she learns that The Lab is going to be torn down for a new electromagnetic hyperway, she gets involved in the movement to stop it - at first just to keep her band, but she gets more involved as she reckons with her privilege and her own anti-racist journey as The Lab becomes the centre of an anti-capitalist revolution during a time of increasing political unrest
#The Free People’s Village#sim kern#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#I thought this was pretty good - interesting premise; some great characters and important conversations#It is definitely a clueless-white-cis-lady-becomes-a-bit-less-clueless kind of story and I think I’d recommend it to fellow white people#but I don’t think non-white reviewers would enjoy this very much. especially the first third or so#with her unconscious racism and bumbling through...a lot of things#But I understand that her being like that is a way to have these discussions in the narrative which ultimately are important conversations#and the revolution depicted here is much more grounded and radical than a lot of white-authored sff revolutions#other than that - the structure was a little strange and sometimes it leaned into the Hey Guys This Is An Alternate Timeline a smidge too#much haha. and also damn pretty depressing in parts. but I guess realistic. p good overall

I love infodumping about my ocs and worlds and deciding that just a couple months later I want to change shit so story elements and worldbuilding may be completely inaccurate now. It's fun I'm very indecisive and I've been doing this for years.
#creator musings#I'm thinking of putting Seabrook on an alternate timeline#as there are a lot of things within our modern timeline that I both don't want to tackle with irl events and also feel to direct#I'm probably going to make up my own events and build my world differently to tell different (specifically political) stories#which I think will also make Seabrook and the alternate world timeline feel more fresh#but i'm not quite sure as to what I should alter because there are aspects of Seabrook's story currently that are influenced by IRL events#the war on drugs and the war on terror being two big ones#IDK it's complicated especially since Seabrook's cast is largely immigrants who had moved to Seabrook due to instability in-#-their home countries and opportunity#much of said instability being caused by US intervention#IDK I might create a completely different timeline with events analogous but not actually those events.
