MORE THOUGHTS ABT VAX THESE EPISODES!!

Vax ONCE AGAIN sees his corpse in his reflection. He’s a dead man walking. And it’s reflected above him in the water then again in the goop of the monster, a reversal of what he saw in eps 5 when he saw the Matron’s mask emerge out of the flames. 

Something about the Feywild seems to be out to get him, and he notices it. There is something about that conversation with Percy by the lake (not only because it directly and visually parallels their conversation at the end of eps 4) that is so striking to me in that he is beginning to really realize the effects of what he has done, and wants to seek answers.

Percy’s “I wasn’t about to give up on you” contrasts directly to Vax’s “I feel like I’m going down a path you can’t follow” (NOT TO MENTION how Vax faces away!! His face falling into shadow!!) and is a bit of foreshadowing that makes me wonder a bit about how the final three episodes of this season are gonna play out for team Half Elf + Percy, especially since we didn’t see where they ended up after walking through the portal in eps 9.

Perhaps a brief return to Vasselheim since there’s that shot of the interior of the Matron’s temple in the trailer?

Leveling criticism at Israel that positions it as a unique evil among all other countries and doing literal blood libel (IE, Israel murders Palestiaian babies in a way no other nation kills children) is FUCKING ANTISEMITIC. Israel is JUST A COUNTRY. It is JUST another nation, doing the shitty stuff that other nations do. And if you find yourself railing against Israel EXTRA hard right now, or ever, in ways that you do NOT rail against other shitty countries that do shitty things (and, I can't believe I have to say this, if you find yourself saying that the kidnap, rape, torture, and murder of any civilian ever is justified because "uwu this radical extremist group is freedom fighters"!) then you're a fucking antisemitic, racist bigot.

Like. It blows me away how so many people don't seem to see that Israel, the Jewish state (whether you agree with how it is run or not, whether you agree with how it came to be or not) gets SO MUCH MORE SHIT than other comparable shitty countries... Come on.

Because the alternative is that you DO see it. That you DO agree with all of those things that are STEEPED in age-old antisemitic conspiracy. And you agree.

This is likely the hardest I've laughed in rain world yet. Basically, you can glitch a spear into a quantum state using a dead bat body, allowing stabbed enemies to follow you through tunnels. So I tried bringing a leviathan to Moon. And the game really, really didn't like that

Ally Beardsley calling Buddy Dawn a coward for taking a rage god over Helio is wildly fascinating to me.

That’s not cowardice if he also sees through the farce that is Helio’s worship and embraces the rage that is realizing that you’ve been lied to your whole life. It’s just another way of working through that realization that you’re in a cult. And the fact that ultimately you intend to change this god and bring them back to a time when the rage wasn’t harmful but instead useful. Like… god there’s so much there.

And it would be fascinating if Kristen’s actual knee jerk reaction is to call him a coward just because he didn’t stand behind the god of a repressive cult.

Genuinely I don’t know if i’m actually saying anything here because everything about Kristen and Ally’s interpretations paired with Buddy’s actual afterlife experience followed up by the final destination of the story and this rage god—It’s all just making me foam at the mouth!! ok ok ok like i thought “the chosen” would suck cause “blah another series about the life and times of jesus” like we GET it it’s been around for CENTURIES you guys make the same damn movie all the time

but it’s actually legit really good? lots of pretty good representation! not everyone in the movie is white. actual portrayals of jewish culture instead of just ignoring that part. disabled people. matthew being autistic. characters that aren’t just two dimensional. the people in it feel like real people. there’s actual jokes, jesus cracks a few and they’re really funny?? so far nothing hateful, no gay or transgender bashing. it calls out the church for being judgemental and hateful in a way that’s very tasteful

it’s not perfect tho. jesus is…still white for some reason? despite mary not being white? and no one else around him being white? no gay people in it which is kind of a bad and a good thing…but it’s a portrayal of jesus and the people around him as human. as real life people who felt things and made jokes and rolled their eyes and stuff. also the guy they cast as jesus is pretty hot as are all the disciples. which isn’t the point or whatever but i can’t say i’m complaining. it’s free online and i think it’s worth a watch!
