Much observed but also highly entertaining the extent that fundies are worse at every discernible “home making” skill than many a group that they claim to be part of the Them group keeping women from their true roll as home makers

#I think there are many and highly complicated reasons behind this #A huge portion being the idealization of a past that never existed etc etc #Like the nine kids stay at home mom (with little Inter community help) who homeschools is just not a time equation that leaves time open fo #Cooking/cleaning/taking care of every child in an individual manner #The other unspoken elephant in the room is the extent that in the rare-r occasions there WAS the #Ye olden days Ma with her pristine white dress and nine pristine kids rather than an extended network of relatives/women etc etc #That social arrangement was only possible due to the working class women who did the cooking/cleaning/child care #In the South in particular the work of Black women. And for many of the periods fundies glorify? Enslaved women #Tw slavery #The cult of domesticity inseparable from classist and racist oppression etc etc #There’s just a lot going on with how outright bad fundies are at cooking and cleaning and that sort of thing #We won’t even touch on the parenting because that’s it’s own thing of a cultural structure that just creates intergenerational trauma from #The get go #But I think one of the big things to take away from the soc 101 kind of thing is like #Religious conservatism is deep in us cultural waters #But the whole fundie school of quiverfull related movements is NEW #It’s NEW #It’s a modern self-created culture from the 1970’s/80’s that can be classed in a group of similar religious revival movements #That shook politics around the world from that era as a reaction to “modernity” and which can be found in many cultures and religions #Inside and outside of the us #But as a fairly modern cultural construct there’s parents who assimilated into this culture and kind of formed it based on that idea of an #A past

#random personal stuff #Danielle's story is reviving memories of the last time I went to a zoo #I was close to Thad's age #(14 or 15 I mean - not 600)#it was summer in Denver and Dad was back from a deployment #it was a hot day and I was having a bit of a rough time with Mystery Illness #but we saw an elephant I think and giraffes and a tiger and not nearly enough lions and an ungodly amount of monkeylike things #which was fun #and Dad let us each choose something within a certain price range from the gift shop #I still have the blue butterfly necklace though I haven't worn it in years #my youngest sister had the FUZZIEST elephant #this might have been the time that Dad played mind games with penguins by flashing a light from his watch like a laser for cats to chase #anyway I miss Denver

Hello, Soda! About Ray, what if they met Richita?? How do you think Asta and Liebe would react? How would it go? Could I please request something with this?

Y'all really liking the Ghost Seer Ray concept, I see! I'm delighted to see an idea of mine has caught people's attention! It really touches my heart, y'know?

With those fuzzy feelings out there, let's get into the headcanons and all the drama that will come up!

..........

Ray would be going about their business in the base when they felt a ghostly presence that was different to the usual spirits that visited the base.

When they look up, they see Licita's face and hear "You're Ray, right? I've been looking for you everywhere! I'm—!"

"Oh my gosh, Liebe was right. Asta's your spitting image," Ray chokes out without even thinking. They hastily cover their mouth and blush while Licita giggles joyfully.

"So you've already heard of me? Good, good! I'd hate to have to introduce myself after coming all this way!"

Apparently Ray's name has made the rounds through the ghost community and when Licita heard of a ghost seer living in the same house as a devil, she the hope she'd be able to reunite with at least one of her sons. Finding out Asta was in the same place made her overjoyed.

Ray and Licita go the base's common room to see Asta and Liebe playing a board game with some of the other members.

"Hey Liebe, Asta. You know how we were talking about what would happen if we ran in your guys' mo—?"

Liebe and Asta are already in Ray's face and shaking them vigorously.

"Where did you see her?" "Take us to her, please!" "Don't keep us in suspense, Ray!" "C'mon, say something!"

When Ray finally gets the boys to let them go, Licita floats up to her sons and caresses their faces.

Asta and Liebe feel a chill on their faces and due to experience from previous ghost encounters, they know it must be Licita. It does take long for the two of them to be in tears.

"Mom..." Asta whimpers as he cries. "It's you... It's really you..."

Liebe's far less coherent. He's bawling and sobbing things like "Mommy," "Sorry," and "Missed you."

Ray convinces the other Bulls to leave the room so the family can have their privacy in reuniting. Well, Ray is still present because they're necessary for communication.

Through Ray, Licita is able to tell Asta and Liebe how proud she is of their growth, of the people they've become, and her joy that they were able to meet each other at all. She had been praying for their safety and happiness. And now she knows they have that, and so much more.

Liebe tells Licita how much he loves her, how much he's missed her. He apologizes for getting her killed. It wasn't by his own hand but Lucifero killed Licita through Liebe's body and that guilt has rested with him for so long. Liebe never thought he'd be able to say of this so he lets it all out.

Asta tells Licita that he doesn't resent her for abandoning him. Liebe already told him as much as he could. He thanks Licita for giving birth to him, for placing him at the church where he was able to meet Yuno, and for taking in Liebe. She's been his mom this whole time, even if he never knew her personally up until now.

The fact that Licita can be in front of her sons in any way at all has her, and them, overwhelmed.

The boys are crying. Licita—even as a ghost—is crying. Ray is crying while trying to communicate Licita's words.

Ray, Morgen, and Nacht teach mother and sons the twins' method of communicating without Ray.

Four days pass before Asta and Liebe are done catching up with Licita. From then on, Licita becomes a permanent ghostly resident of the squad's base.

Asta can be heard shouting "Maaa! You don't gotta baby me! I'm eighteen already!" or "Maaa! Your hugs are giving me chills again!" He always sounds happy though. It can be annoying at times but it's a greater joy to be doted upon.

Liebe really opens up with Licita around. Before, he was awkward and skittish, but with Licita around, he feels more assured. Everyone teases him for being a momma's boy.

Licita passes on her recipes to the boys and talks about the things they could've never known about her. She talks about how she used to climb the tallest trees outside of Hage for a chance to see Asta, that she was so afraid that Liebe's presence was only a dream of hers that would end.

Licita does eventually hear about how Nacht trained her baby boys before the Spade invasion. And, well, to put it simply, Nacht didn't sleep well for a few days. Being haunted by a momma ghost is his newest and biggest fear yet.

Some nights, when Ray is restless, they happen to pass by Asta and Liebe's room and find Licita singing a lullaby to the boys. They can't hear her, still could't if they were awake, but her effort is the sweetest thing in the world.

The boys go to Ray and ask them to bring Licita back to life the way they did with the elf tribe. Her presence is great but they want her back fully.

"But aren't you afraid that Licita will be revived with her curse in tact?" Ray would ask.

From what happened with the elves, they can only bring people back as they once were before. None of the elves were cursed before so they're unsure if the curse on Licita would be brought back as well or not.

"Well you guys will just have to research it won't you?" Licita pipes up chipperly. Looks like she had eavesdropped.

Licita gives a ghostly pat on the head to all of them. "I would love to come back but Ray's concern is also worth thought. I can wait if it means I can come back without my curse. But if there's no way around it, I'll accept staying in the afterlife."

So Ray, Asta, and Liebe hit the books and try to find any evidence of seers and revivers like Ray. If there was anyone before Ray, maybe that person - or people - knew something they didn't.

Until then, Licita will dote on her boys from beyond the grave with chilly hugs and unheard lullabies and stories of the past. She's infinitely proud of them and happy to see them continue to grow.
