oh my god i have had this headcanon for so long thank god someone’s asking about it.

Ice will ONLY drive American-manufactured cars. like even when he travels somewhere and rents one. he will raise a stink about it.

It is a significant point of contention in their relationship & marriage that maverick is only interested in Japanese-manufactured motorcycles. Like they have had, and will continue to have, shouting matches over “why can’t you be a patriot and buy American motorcycles like harleys??!? What is with all the kawasaki and yamaha crap???” and “ice im telling you they just run better!!! the japanese just make better bikes!!!” tongue-in-cheek threats of divorce etc.

i definitely think of ice as less a luxury car and more a classic muscle car guy. back when muscle cars still were delicate and beautiful instead of hard and sharp, if that makes sense. there is a Venn diagram of luxury and muscle cars and he definitely has dabbled in the middle (see my fic’s deepthroating of the 2005 ford GT). But he won’t cross the line. (Won’t be caught dead driving a Porsche or mercedes for instance)

in the final final draft of my fic (ie the draft that will get posted before i call it quits on my top gun phase) the Dream Car is getting changed to a ‘68 Plymouth HEMI roadrunner. camaro is too mainstream i will admit. but see above for my “car preferences” hc.

The Chinese iteration of the ID.3 is a product of SAIC Volkswagen, a joint venture between SAIC and Volkswagen. It is offered in two versions: a base configuration priced at 119,900 yuan (16,600 USD) and a higher-end variant with a price tag of 149,900 yuan (20,800 USD). In terms of dimensions, the Chinese version closely mirrors its European counterpart, boasting 4261 mm in length, 1778 mm in width, 1568 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2765 mm(..)

P.S. Wow! Impressively competitive price! Who wouldn't buy this VW electric car in Europe if the normal version with 57.3 kWh battery costs $20,800, but unfortunately that's not the case here. In Latvia, the price of VW ID.3 Pro with 58/62 kWh battery starts from 35,400 EUR and more expensive, even with state support. It is expensive vehicle for those who usually bought a compact hatchback.

This raises quite a few questions about the extent to which legacy OEMs are lying to consumers about the real costs of production and the difficulties involved in producing EVs. If you count the prices of battery materials, taxes and transport costs, it turns out that properly organized production of electric cars is actually not as expensive as the car companies try to tell us. The actual price of the VW ID.3 should be much closer to the current MG4 prices in Europe...

Yes, yes, the politically correct people will immediately start yelling that Volkswägens is such an "ethical" company and it is not good to insult them prematurely for inflated prices, but the doubt still remains: why the hell are electric cars produced by VW so cheap in China and so outrageously expensive in Europe??? Where does "free trade" remain? Maybe "free trade" is not so free at all and the big companies are just fooling the Europeans!?

After all, VW provided us with "dieselgate" scandal! Now, why would you blindly believe their stories that the VW ID.3 is as damn expensive in Europe as they say, when in China it's a pretty cheap electric car???? After all, VW ID.3 is produced in China in cooperation with SAIC.

I wouldn't be very surprised if MG4 deliveries increase in Europe that VW will suddenly be able to offer MEB platform electric cars at much more reasonable prices...
