I read that wild einkorn has brittle ears. Domestic einkorn doesn't because it's more desirable for crops to wait until they're threshed to break. I dunno, I'm a dumb Texan holding a smart book. A cat's way saying could be 'Your ears split.' The same as calling someone wild.
Another Cat's Way saying is 'Su's barbs', which is like saying feck this. That one's rude and I'm not gonna explain it, lol

Oh today. So yes, I had to stop "homemaking" this afternoon to get ready for my job's deadline, but I still had a great homemaking day. I started out with yard work and updating our backstock, then moved into dishes and laundry. Sounds pretty normal, but I Marco-Poloed friends and listened to this great episode:
And! I finally got a chance to make some fresh bread and test out some Einkorn flour. There is just something about kneading bread, rising bread, and baking bread that is so cozy. I was really hoping that we wouldn't like the Einkorn, but the breads sooooo tasty. Darn.
Well, the house smells great. And the home is tended and apparently I like the expensive stuff. Obviously.
It was a very cheerful day of home.
I'm so thankful tomorrow is more of the same.
Oh, and my hubby is almost done with my new flower bed, so now it's my turn to think about what to put in it. 😄

I made an einkorn Gâteau Breton. I adjusted the classic recipe so it does work with einkorn flour.
Einkorn Gâteau Breton ingredients:
279 g organic All-purpose Einkorn flour (I used Jovial organic all-purpose Einkorn flour)
167 g pure maple sugar
200 g cold grass-fed butter cut into cubes
1 tsp baking powder (aluminum free)
5 Free-range egg yolks
¼ tsp sea salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
For egg wash: 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tsp vanilla extract or mixed with 1/4 tsp white vinegar
Instructions:
Put the einkorn flour, butter, pure maple sugar, baking powder and salt in a food processor and pulse until combined. Add 5 egg yolks, vanilla extract and mix till the dough is combined. Press the dough into a 22 cm greased round cake pan and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes. Brush the top of the cake with the egg wash and with a fork make criss cross lines. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
