You don’t think you’ve ever seen your sister crush on someone as hard as she does for Edward Elric.

Granted, she’s only six years old so the list of boys who held her heart wasn’t very long. There was the seven-year-old from two houses down from you. And a little brunette boy who could count the highest in her kindergarten. There was even the time she very loudly whispered in your ear how she was going to “Marry Mister Mustang!” one. All while the man was sitting at a table, less than ten feet away. And you wouldn’t be surprised if there were many, many more that you haven’t heard yet. Though for now, you can’t help but feel like a new boy in her life is impossible.

“Eddie~!”

At least, it’s impossible while Edward Elric still insists on visiting your parent’s library.

Living in Central all your life has made you well aware of the fact that State Alchemists are to be respected by everyone- especially civilians. And with the library with one of the largest collections of non-alchemy-related scientific notebooks, you’ve met quite a few who were hoping to brush up on their studies over the years. Your constant shifts at the book restoration corner while helping out your parents wherever you could made sure of that. But that meant your sister had to come with whenever you weren’t home to watch her after her school got out too. And on most days, that wouldn’t be so bad. After all, she’s always been quite the charmer. But sometimes…she could be a little too charming.

“Oh, hey you two!” The sound of the Fullmetal Alchemist's cheerful voice fills your ears as he steps into your view with his brother in tow. There was no way he was going to get off with sneaking away now that they were caught in the library by your sister. And the three of you knew that. Truth be told, you had known the two of them were in the library for a little while. Al’s armor always had a bit of a creak to it when he walked. And Edward never really could keep his voice down, even when he was whispering. Still, you weren’t going to be the one to point out to your little sister that they were here. After all, you had a feeling they were here to work rather than to say hello. Though now, their plans might just have to change. “Working hard or hardly working?”

Your sister laughs but you have a feeling she didn’t actually understand the joke. It’s obvious she’s just excited to see him. After all, he’s one of few patrons that take time out of their busy schedule to play with her for longer than five minutes. Though not always by choice considering how tricky she can be. And admittedly, you’re always happy to see the Elric brothers too. It’s refreshing to see someone your own age walk through those doors. Though your attention has always lingered on a different one than your sister’s.

“Eddie! Eddie!” When her energetic calls are getting a little loud for the building, you lean over to shush her. Realization washes over her for a second as her eyes go wide and her finger shoots up to lay across her lips in a classic librarian pose. But that little distraction does nothing to take away her growing excitement over who knows what this time. And nor does it pull her away from her thoughts long enough for her to hear Ed’s near-silent groan of ‘That’s not my name…’ that’s now making both you and Al attempt to hide your laughter. “C’mere! I wanna show you something!”

That was the only warning served to the Fullmetal Alchemist before your little sister was hopping off her chair and snatching up his left hand in her little fist. The boy barely had a moment to protest before she was already dragging him down the aisle and turning a corner- red cloak and little sister disappearing from your sight as you watched on. It happened so fast. Faster than you really expected considering the size of your sister compared to Edward. In fact, it wasn’t until their voice started to fade from your ears that you realized that the two of them really took off. Leaving you alone.

With Alphonse.

Oh god. That’s the only thought running through your head as the realization truly sets in. Oh god, oh god, oh god. In an instant, you felt yourself growing flustered. Though the warm feeling that was taking over your body just worsened as Al then turned his head from where the direction in which his brother went towards you. You try to offer him a small smile and think of something to say. But your smile is shaky and awkward at best, and your mind is going a little too fast for you to handle. So you end up breaking eye contact and burying your face in the latest book in your pile to be restored.

You know you should have tried harder to say something clever to crack a little joke about what just happened. You’ve always been able to do it to others when your sister is up to her antics. But now that you think about it, this might be the first time you have ever been alone with Al. And the fact that the two of you are just cooped up in the little back corner of the library where you work isn’t making things any better. You’re so used to having him approach you with your sister around or with his brother by his side. For you, that was always a safety crutch. A distraction. Someone you could push your attention to so that you could focus on anything besides the fact that the Alphonse Elric was standing so close to you.

Yep. You could be as bad as your sister when it comes to boys.

“I…” In the end, it’s Al’s voice that breaks the silence. It’s just a quiet sound at first. Carried by his timid yet sweet-sounding voice. You always thought that it made him sound so gentle and caring despite his hulking figure. And it’s at that thought that you truly do smile just a little. You’ve only heard whispers of what they’ve been through. But they’ve never shown anything short of kindness towards you and your little sister. Never. “I’m sorry if my presence frightens you…”

Scratch that. You’re way worse than your sister. Especially for making someone as nice as Alphonse apologize for just existing.

“No, no, no, no!” Now it’s your turn to get louder than you intend to as you look up and shake your hands to emphasize the gesture. And it’s the sound of Al’s laughter that brings you back to the present and makes you aware of your tone. By now, your face feels like it’s on fire, and you’re downright mortified too. Though at least you’ve saved one interaction. Now, it’s time for you to wrap the rest up in a tight little bow. Or in the case of your job, a perfectly bound spine. “It’s not that, it’s just…”

Your hands come to rest on your desk. Your fingers brush against a rounded, wooden edge of your guillotine as you fiddle with a needle in your other hand. Explaining yourself now is just as hard as you expected it to be. And you truly feel like you set yourself up to fail. You don’t have experience with this. Work and your sister have always kept you busy. You didn’t have time for boys. And when you did, no one really captured your attention. Not like Al does anyways. But…

“I’m…”

With a deep sigh, you try to remind yourself that you can do it. Not because it’s for a paycheck. Or it’s for your little sister. You can do this- for you. Because once upon a time, you weren’t a big sister. You weren’t able to share your clothes when they got too small and or let someone else play with your toys that you loved so much. You thought you would never do it. And you thought you would never enjoy it too. Once upon a time, you weren’t good at what you do in the library. You weren’t able to cut the pages straight or replace the glue on hardbacks. You thought never repair something as good as your parents. And that you would never be able to do it on your own. You had to learn how to do all these things.

“I’m actually really glad you’re here, Al...”

So maybe you could learn how to talk to boys too.

I am low-mid needs autistic and i have chronic fadigue and pain (and it is doing the opposite of getting better at this very moment) and despite going to various doctors i still don't know why that is.

I'm verbalflux and do constantly have verbal shutdowns and speechloss episodes, i also have very self destructive meltdowns and I WILL call my autistic symptoms "symptoms" and not "traits".

I am a very avid minecraft enjoyer and am currently watching Froggsmp (a Brazilian server) and Hermitcraft (ya know what it is)

The way I got this ask and like IMMEDIATELY forgot any piece of media I have ever consumed?? If I forgot any of my faves... sorry to them!!

Also, a running theme for most of my faves is that they have overcome being otherized and/or trauma and came out being pettier and more self righteous, lol.

Uchiha Sasuke from Naruto. Pettiest bitch alive and he DESERVES IT! Should be pettier.

Wei Wuxian from MDZS/The Untamed. Went through hell, kinda literally, and did awful things but still chose to do the right thing, every single fucking time.

Fenris from Dragon Age. Watching him emerge from such an awful place and learn to let people in, while remaining sooo rough around the edges, was lovely.

Spock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From both TOS and AOS, less so from Disco/SNW, because he's just so fucking funny and also watching him be so repressed and then be forced out of that repression is fun. I love him. Baby boy.

Joy from EEAAO. Loved watching her anger, loved watching her creativity, and I loved watching her anger make her mother change. I love that she was able to give up the anger because she was finally seen and her hurt was legitimized.

NGL.... it's still my boy Edward Elric. In many ways, I should let him go. But he was my first rep of atheism in literally the funniest fucking way ("Yeah I've seen God but... nah.") and I still enjoyed his journey, even if I now have major issues with the narrative and apologism and recognize Scar as a far more compelling character than Edward. Sorry to everyone but when I saw Edward at age.... 13, I did not realize what war crime apologism looked like. At least I let go of stanning Mustang. Cause I wanted that man carnally for a long time.

Sook-hee from The Handmaiden. Watching her fuck shit up was cathartic.

I need to finish my watch through (bingewatching two seasons in a week was mentally taxing, tbh) but Flint and Max from Black Sails. Again... love a selfish character who has felt left behind by the world and so they take what they can from the world. They deserve it!

Recency bias I guess but I'm REALLY loving Frieren from... Frieren. Watching her learn to value other people while going around with her lil :3 face is nice.

I feel like this list is leaving a lot of faves out--my lovely Sailor Jupiter who I imprinted on like a baby duck and have carried in my heart ever since, Dimitri Fire Emblem, Qifrey, and probably so many more. The characters that I love just for horny reasons (Yae Miko, Kaveh, Tighnari my beloveds). Characters I love for their potential (Finn, Poe, and Rey from Star Wars)(Also Cassian but I guess I could love him more if I watched Andor but I will not be watching Disney+ shows.) Characters who I love now (Louis, Lestat, Claudia from IWTV the show) but haven't finished their arcs yet, so idk how I'll feel int he future. Etc etc.

I will also say that this list feels a biiiiiit swayed by characters who I have experienced more in fandom. There are characters from one off books, video games, comics that I CONNECT with more, maybe idolized more, but engage with less often because there's no fandom, so they come to mind less immediately. And they've been butchered less by fanon, so I don't project onto them as much. Like they are FULLER vessels, which means they have less room for me to go "Oh, yeah, we are exactly the same. Let me into your brain."

This list is mainly of characters I love to play with like bratz dolls in my brain and is less about like... maybe heavily fucking with them while consuming their media and then being able to let them go when I'm done.

If someone were trying to make a new character inspired by pulp heroes, but the new character had to be a teenager, what existing pulps heroes should they look to for inspiration?

I'm not exactly in touch with the yoof so I could be off the mark here, but let's talk about teenager characters for a bit.

Now, I could just tell you to look for characters that appeal to you and use them as a baseline and that's probably the best advice here, but if you want the essay and history lesson: American pulp fiction didn't used to market much to teenagers. Teenagers as a consuming market haven't always been the all-encompassing force they are considered today, and the pulps were largely marketed either towards young boys, or for working class men, mostly the latter. This is part of why teenagers tend to show up in these stories largely as sidekicks, which was something carried over to comic superheroes, and part of why Spider-Man was such a breakout hit, because he was a teenage superhero who was not a sidekick.

The biggest pre-1950s traditional pulp hero I can of who was a teenager would be Jack Harkaway, an 1871 penny dreadful adventurer who would go on to be published overseas, one of those characters who was big enough in his day to inspire imitators a plenty but didn't quite make it past a specific time period. Comic strips had plenty of kid or teenage protagonists who are a bit closer to pulp heroes, like Tintin or Terry Lee, one in particular I'm highlighting above is Ledger Syndicate's Connie Kurridge, arguably the first female adventure hero of American comics. Overseas you can find a couple of prominent examples of teenage adventurers published in what we call the pulp era, the biggest and most influential of which being The Famous Five, but as I stated in answering whether Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys were pulp heroes, these were not published in pulp magazines, instead their direct opposites in glossy and reputable paperbacks.

There are other examples of pulp heroes who were teenagers and not sidekicks, but nearly all of them are very obscure and you will probably not find much material for them. And the thing is, these characters were not made for teenagers. They were made, for the most part, by grown-ups, and for grown-ups, and I can't say any of them ever really grabbed a teenage audience. Usually, it's the 60s as an era that really starts to pander to and include teenagers at the forefront of storytelling, so a good start for you might be to look at what was going on in the 60s-onwards worldwide in the realms of pulp and pulp-inspired works, which probably means you're going to have to look outside of the US.

Another word of advice would be to look up characters that are beloved by teenagers. I don't think "teenager" is a great baseline trait to start building a character, but if that's the number one priority to you, then ideally you should look for a good baseline of what appeals to that demographic, what appealed to you at that age and why. You're probably going to wind up with a lot of anime anti-heroes in your research though, because teenagers are deeply miserable creatures and few things appeal more to them than characters who are miserable but they act cool and badass and edgy about it. Teenagers are forced to live with the miserable reality of being teenagers with little to no upsides, so I think teenage characters could benefit more from being based on the kinds of characters teenagers would ideally want to read about.

So, "cool, badass and tortured character super popular with angsty teenagers", "rooted in and subverting older storytelling traditions for a fresh new audience", and "60s pulp hero". I think Elric is probably as good of a place as any for you to start.

Elric wasn't just popular, he wasn't even just popular with teenagers (boys and girls alike, which is also quite the feat), he was "cool". He was avant-garde, he was the hip new thing on the block. He wasn't Conan or Bond or Batman, and you'd hardly mistake him for a hero. He got the rock albums and fans tattooing him. He was penned by the guy who was openly called the "anti-Tolkien". Elric was Loki before Loki, the edgy anti-hero before them all. The emaciated warrior with white hair and black clothes and a demonic sword who suffered in a cool way, cool in his uncoolness. When I think of pulp heroes who achieved a substantial popularity among teenage audiences, Elric is definitely the first that comes to mind.

Another good example might be Captain Harlock, easily one of the premier Pulp Heroes among manga and anime due to how heavily Leiji Matsumoto incorporates pulp space opera into everything he does. Not only directly influenced by it, Matsumoto even has actual pulp credentials as an illustrator for C.L Moore's Shambleau, Northwest Smith and Jirel of Joiry. The space pirate, while not created in manga and anime, is one of Japan's premier pulp hero archetypes, and Harlock's as good of a baseline to work with as any.

The most popular pulp-inspired works nowadays among teenage or younger audiences are definitely the ones derived from pulp horror, several creators have been getting a lot of mileage these past decades out of plundering and remixing stuff from it. The big ones are Lovecraft and related works like The King in Yellow, but because they soak up all the attention, it also means that people are sleeping on authors like John W. Campbell, William Hope Hogdson, Clark Ashton Smith and Karl Edward Wagner, Nictzin Dyalhis and Olaf Stapledon, and many, many more, which gives you a lot of narrative real estate to work with should you take this direction.

Additionally, one thing that you could consider is that, for a very large portion of the history of pulp fiction, a significant amount of the most popular stories and characters were those that were based on celebrities and real life figures. The biggest of dime novel protagonists was Buffalo Bill, and following him was Nick Carter, a literary equivalent to Eugen Sandow (the Schwarzenegger of his day). Thomas Edison inspired an entire subgenre of dime novel fiction, even Jack the Ripper was a pulp protagonist in Dutch magazines, because sometimes the term "pulp hero" doesn't take the "hero" part much into account.

The precedent for celebrity stories is older than pulp fiction itself, but it was in the dime novels and novelettes and pulps that the idea really found it's footing. The Shadow's exploits took a lot from Gibson's own experiences with Houdini (who himself starred in fictional stories, one famously penned by Lovecraft). Doc Savage was visually modeled after Clark Gable and supposedly inspired on Richard Henry Savage. Eddy Polo, Charlie Chaplin and Tom Mix were the protagonists of several pulps and comic strips across the world, as well as Al Capone (who starred in pulp magazines in Germany and Spain), who fought Nick Carter in a Brazilian story guest-starring Fu Manchu (reportedly based on real figures Sax Rohmer claimed to have met) and Fantomas. Today obviously there are much greater restrictions at play concerning celebrity images, but if dime/pulp magazines were around today, we would have quite possibly seen figures like Keanu Reeves, Tilda Swinton and Lil Nas X either star in their own magazines or be used as models for rising protagonists.

So I guess one other way you could go on about creating a pulp hero, who's either a teenager or appeals to teenagers, would be the route of taking a look at some celebrities that either are, or appeal to those demographics, because if pulp magazines had stayed around unchanged past the 60s and 80s and whatnot you definitely would have seen the likes of David Bowie, Will Smith and Dwayne Johnson get their own magazines. I don't know much about what celebrities are popular with teenagers these days and I'm not about to start caring now, but you could take a look at some icons you like, or liked when you were younger, and think about what made them appealing to think about as characters, and how you could apply that to something closer to a pulp story.

A word of advice would also be that, if you want to make a character inspired by pulp heroes, if you want to create a convincing modern pulp hero, you might want to look less at the pulp heroes themselves and instead those that they were inspired by or working to defy and stand out when compared to. You take the building blocks and rearrange them in a different way. If you have a specific character you want to design yours in reference to, you can send me an ask or a DM about them and I'll dig into my files to give you a few pointers, and what kind of history or cultural predecessors they have that you could take a look at to make something more genuine.

🌸🍡Please don't steal and resubmit/repost my works without my permission! thanks!🍡🌸 🌸🍡-----------------------🍡🌸 I forgot to submit this last month of 2021s final days but- eh i was busy with my own things going on. I drew this in my twitch stream because its been a very long while since Ive drawn anything Fullmetal Alchemist related. I think its cause certain FMA artists that are "popular" really was being super nit picky with my OC and its- very tiring. Now im just not giving much of a damn what they think. Just because your popular doesn't mean you get to nit pick my OC because god forbid she is paired with Edward Elric. but anywho~ onto the comic- yeah theres no words to put into it on what they said but- maybe when i finally color it [If i remember to XD] i'll add some more into the lil comic and such. Tho anyways to explain about this real quick. 2 things: 1st being - I do have a FMA Storyline idea how Edward and Emmy have met. One of following the brotherhood storyline and 2003 Original storyline since both have different things going on it it. 2003 being more dark then anything, and humunculi being very different how theyre actually created and actually have unique weakness's and such and so on. plus different villians , etc. This one is being followed with the 2003 original FMA storyline with shamballa [conqueror of shamballa timeline after the anime series ended and now continue with the film]. 2end explaining about the comic- since 2003 FMA is more darker , the storyline for these two also encounters dark shit going on and boy i have- very sad stuff to share on that one for sure.. ;; now- for the comic here- is when Ed and Em finally reunite once again. [Quick warning if you have NOT seen the conqueror of shamballa film this will contain spoilers further ahead. You've been warned.] - - - now how does this even happen?? how did emmy even manage to cross through the portal? Funny because she actually snuck onto the ship Edward was on. Now when the whole fight happened on the ship, emmy was there fighting alongside roy mustang, and alphonse. Alphonse was obviously upset that edward decided to go back to the portal, back to germany and close the portal so no other can come to his home again and try doing the same disastrous atrocities again. of course alphonse snuck onto the ship, but emmy also snuck on as well..which roy tried to convince both alphonse and emmy that they shouldnt even though they are both determined to stay by edward and not lose him again. of course roy had a feeling he would probably do this regardless since its edward. edward would literally do anything to make sure no one has to be hurt and if theres a way for him to do so he will do it in a heart beat.. so- after edward realizing alphonse snuck on and of course been busy with closing the portal finally and left. One of the guys who worked with Alphonse Hiderich heard something while helping with the other guys even hughes to get the dead soliders out of the suits, they heard breathing and found emmy in one of the suits when they moved it and the front part of the suit was loosened and she fell out. they checked her pulse and found shes alive and is just unconsious, and took her to the hospital right away. Hughes does come back to check in on the girl, and felt she may be a friend to Edward and his brother, and tried to reach him but couldnt get much in contact, plus unsure if he should after what just even happened. He did made up with gracia and such after some time, and emmy finally awoke and Hughes took her in with Gracia so Gracia helps her out. I think emmy had a bit of a headache from the trip and saw familiar faces but realizes quickly they arnt the same as the ones back home.. so- yeah uh how many times shes seen edward and alphonse and wasnt sure - to BOTH of them, that "theres no way thats them". it took them- jesus many occasions to where they pass eachother and then just both of them would quickly look at eachother and are unsure what to say or what they can say to see if its REALLY them? so that happens

many times, to where emmy was frustrated, edward was also kind of frustrated because he couldnt get her out of his head. [now before this encounter as seen in the comic, he was frustrated where Noah asked him whats wrong. He tells her that his friend Emmy may of snuck onto the ship as well like alphonse, but both he and alphonse didnt even know, but he isnt sure and says that its hard to even tell if its really them because everyone looks exactly the same but they arnt in this world. Noah understands its becoming frustrating for him to see someone he knows but isnt sure if its really them or just their parallel self.. Noah , even though her fore sight is better when they are asleep..asked if she can maybe see something. she sees they do meet again..but its different. she recommended if he sees her again - to ask her. The same , kind of thing, happens with Emmy but with gracia but emmy isnt sure if she should even say anything about her being from another world, until gracia sat down with her alone and told her what hughes told her. emmy felt kind of relieved and gracia was never one to judge. emmy did end up getting emotional... of how frustrating it is to see people she sees that looks exactly like the people she knew, but they arnt the same... gracia encourage her to meet up with edward if she sees him again and emmy hopes to at least see him to finally just settle things.] the comic here is where both of them had alot on their minds, edward trying to distract himself but couldnt because he just isnt sure where emmy could of gone, and emmy also isnt sure where edward is at the moment, until they pass eachother and a sense of realizing its them just hit them. they finally face eachother which they stared for a while with uncertainty until it only took both of them to reconize a few details that was stupidly overlooked. their automail. how its designed.. for edward it would be emmys scars and the locket. they both asked if they are who they think they are... and mentions some names like Amestris, Alchemy and the Philosipher stone... humuncili. Then out of a habit [between edward and emmy] is edward making a comment where idk he said something dumb where emmy just punches him in the gut because hes trying to make a joke and she was like "i wish you could of said something you fricken dork" and they both argued at eachother. then finally ends up where they couldnt look away from eachother and just- end up in a very emotional spiral where emmy was so relieved that hes okay, and that it really is him and she finally lets everything out. edward , while he hasnt cried or shed tears in- a while but still will show how upset he is... i think a few words where spoken while emmy was slowly starting to cry in the few final panels. well- yeah uh- while edward was gone things went so bad for her.. its not his fault mind you just a shit ton of things happened. I'll explain by dialogue: -------------------------------------- Edward , still having his hands clench his stomach from the blow he received from Emmys left automail fist, he grumbles as tries to speak "damn it emmy why did you even follow us? you could of gotten hurt or worse!" "Because I WANTED to Ed! I wanted to follow because im not..Im not going to lose you again like I lost everyone else!" she clenched her sweater pretty hard after saying that as silence was all its left between them for a moment, the only sounds be the civilians and the cars passing by. Edward stared at the sorrowful brunette as he was confused what she meant by it, but...in truth, deep inside he had a idea what it actually is but he shook his head to not even think of such worse outcomes. "Emmy what are you talking abou-" before he could continue emmy interrupted him as her voice was choked up. "hes gone...t-t-they are all gone.." "E-Emmy..what do...you mean by that?" he asked looking at her more concerned as Emmys blue eyes stared at his amber golden ones while tears threaten to stream down her face. "..w-while you...w-where gone...and m-missing.. s-so much has happened.. my g-grandparents..

e-even my own brother.. i.." she swallowed to try and not start bawling right away. trying hard not to cry quickly from explaining. Edward frowned..as he felt his heart sunk.. "..what happened.." he asked as his tone was softened as he got closer to her. Emmys breath was shaking as she tries to calm down, but she couldnt stop herself from trembling "..i followed...because i couldnt lose you again...edward i thought you died for fuck sakes... my grandparents.. they passed away..both from being so bed ridden and sick.. their health declining... my brother was sent off to war.... and he was killed.... he tried his best to stay alive but he got killed..by a surprise attack.. they tried to save him..when he came home but he was long gone before they could even do anything..." her tears stream more down her face "o-once i saw you..i.. i was so relieved and happy you were alive....but so fucking mad at you too!" she clenched her sweater more "i know..you said you come back and y-you did... but seeing you leave i just couldnt just stand by and let you... so i followed... i know im leaving my home, my world i was born in...but my family thats left is gone.. i'll miss my friends of course but- i..." she started to sob as she tries wipe her hears away as edward couldnt help but teared up a bit as he kissed her forehead, seeing she was really hurting. Emmy quickly rest her head against his chest and hugged him tightly as she cried against his chest as Edward hugged her tight "...amestris may be my home...and world im from but your my world...and i dont want to let you go again.. just.. d-dont leave me alone again..." edward hugged her tightly as he burried his face against her shoulder ".. never again. im sorry your in so much pain... it'll be okay.." as he lets emmy cry as much as she can as Alphonse and Noah looked to find Edward and see him reunited with emmy, relieved they are okay. Will say that it was also emotional for emmy to see alphonse again as they hugged it out as well, cause she and alphonses are really good friends as well so it was emotional for them to. Emmy meets Noah and the two become best friends later where they talk to eachother and everything about their troubles. gah who cut onions in here quq I hope you guys enjoyed the dialogue at least- i hope to finally eventually make the literature work of how the two meet or finally make a comic. god either one of them- so look out for that because i havent forgotten about it just- chaos... 2021 aint helping with that. ouo; 🌸🍡-----------------------🍡🌸 Want to catch my Twitch streams when I do art? me, five hours from my bday: my brain is either galaxy or cursed rn.

is lily serious or not: one is edward, alphonse and winry all the same in fma save they all have hilariously cute and not fitting for the scene - country accents and ed says howdy and yeehaw in his fights and alphonse when picking up tiny ed says ‘giddy up’. and it works because no one wants to fight the elrics anymore because ed bought a cowboy hat he knows his power as a small town country boy and oh he’s also small wow . . but also just the golden trio being hilariously country and like ???? like they are in canon because oh wow things like that exist beyond this lil wholesome town? everything is the same save ed has a cowboy hat. what i really want on my wishlist: edward, who suffered and bore everything beyond fathoming, who always smiled like the sun and always kept it down in his chest and stomach, who always sacrificed for his little brother and always did his damn best, who suffered and suffered and suffered and is riddled with trauma unimaginable -- to finally cry post promised day. full ugly, shaking, gasping sobbing. i don’t care who it is, but edward smiling and suddenly this big tear rolls down his cheek and he’s so CONFUSED because he hasn’t cried for YEARS. and he keeps saying ‘there’s a scientific r-reason for this it’s called allergies. and either a friend, his big found family, okay same thing, al, or winry just -- they’re suddenly facing a confused alchemist holding his cheek as that fat tear rolls down, frozen confused smile, wide gold eyes still in place still trying so so hard to be the pillar, still trying to be that steady, chaotic big brother... and he isn’t right now. because he’s been bleeding for years.

Masamune: When MC returned to her room first day of being in Azuichi, she did NOT expect Masamune to be in there, flipping through her sketchbook. However, instead of clothing or fashion, they were all fanarts of anime and otome boys. “These are some interesting abstract portraits, lass. Who are all these men? All your suitors?” “Pfft I wish. They’re actually all fictional. Where I come from we illustrate a lot of stories and characters and these are my favorite characters that are best bois in my heart.” Masamune loves learning new things so he’s super intrigued and entertained by MC’s explanations of anime, otome, and how people in the future thirst over 2D men. He rips out one of MC’s pages that had a drawing of an otome man with brown hair, swords, and an eyepatch bc it looks A LOT like him (coincidence? I think not) and keeps it. Finds it entertaining when MC gushes about a certain anime plot but will swoop in for a makeout session if she starts gushing about fictional men “Why I can do all those things those fictional guys do AND literally sweep you off your feet, kitten.” If MC brought back anime/manga, he would LOVE action/fighting anime. Also lowkey guilty pleasures in cooking anime like Food Wars.

Nobunaga: When MC was proving she was from the future and dumped out all of her purse contents, he did not expect to see illustrated men on keychains and attached to her wallet and purse. “Are these talisman from the future?” “Oh no! They’re my best bois. In the future we have illustrated stories that sometimes get illustrated or go to game format for you to interact with characters. These characters are top tier.” “So you worship fictional men?” “Ya”. Devil man immediately had an idea. Snagging up the limited item keychains of her husbandos, he challenged MC to Go. “If you beat me, you’ll get your ‘best bois’ back. If not, I’ll claim a body part every time you lose.” MC didn’t even hear the first part bc she was DETERMINED to save her husbando keepsakes. Normal MC lost quite a bit, but otaku MC fueled by her rage and passion overthrew the Go king, impressing Nobunaga for her wit and obsession over fictional men. As they grow closer he’d love to hear her tell him stories before bed about anime plots. Gets a lil jealous that a fictional character can conquer MC’s thoughts more than he can, but he can work on that 😉. If MC brought back anime/manga, he’d love plots with strategy and action , usually revolved around war. Likes it when underdog characters use their wit and abilities to become the strongest.

Sasuke: Two birds of a feather flock together. As soon as he saw MC whip out her anime and otome merch his heart immediately got pierced by the love arrow. What are the chances that a fellow otaku would be launched in the past with him? He’d recognize quite a few of the anime characters but would have to be schooled by MC about the otome characters. Would have fun labeling the warlords as character archetypes, confusing the heck out of them. “Yandere better mean a powerful war god from where you’re from or I’ll kill you, Sasuke.” Both would tease Yukimura for being a tsundere even though he doesn’t know what that means. Sasuke and MC would make dorky anime references to eachother and be so in sync with their nerd levels oh my goodness. “You’re the Winry to my Edward Elric.” “You’re the Vegeta to my Bulma.” “You’re the Kagome to my Inuyasha.” “You’re the Sasuke to my MC.” *gasp* “what the HELL is this dinner conversation?!” Yukimura and Kenshin would probably be thinking/saying in unison.

It's Edward Elric's senior year at Central High School and he just wants to finish the year without any issues. This proves to be difficult when the most popular kids in school, who nicknamed themselves "The Sins", all seem bent on making sure he doesn't have a good time and when his popular neighbor apparently has taken on a very annoying host brother from abroad. An annoying host brother who seems to think he can get under Ed's skin and infiltrate his life. Not that he'd succeed at that or anything.

Aka high school au where Ed and Al and Winry all live together and their neighbor, Greed, the local bad boy, takes on Ling as an exchange student. The teachers are all the military from Central and the Homunculi are the mean popular kids. Ed doesn't want to admit that he is slowly developing feelings for Ling and The Sins don't want him to have a normal uninterrupted time in high school. Ed is emo, Al is a pastel soft boi, and Winry is on the robotics team. Be prepared for much fluff and angst.
