Of (Ex) Husbands and Wives…
I actually wanted to find out a little bit about Eddy Quintela … but there are all in all three pictures of the guy on the internet and on two of whom he‘s pictured with Christine.
Also, when you type in his name it doesn’t say, ‘Eddy Quintela: musician, keyboardist, songwriter, etc.‘ it says, ‘Eddy Quintela: Ex-husband of Christine McVie‘ and i think that’s beautiful.
Anyhow, above pictured you see John McVie with, and I quote, “[His] wonderful, wonderful ex-wife, who told [him] to fuck off.“ And I think that’s beautiful too!

DC Legacy
The basic premise of this is that the time has come for older heroes to step down and the next generation take their place. Clark Kent is now the editor and owner of the Daily Planet and vows to lead them into the future while keeping their dedication to the truth. Diana Prince is now Queen of the Amazons and has relinquished her title as Wonder Woman though she still joins the Justice Society when needed. Bruce Wayne has become mayor of Gotham City and intends to use the power of the office to fight crime at the root. However the intensified spotlight means he must give up the cowl. Others such as Oliver Queen have stepped down from active duty to become teachers to the next generation, passing down their skills and knowledge. Lyrics:
If I could turn the page
In time then I'd rearrange just a day or two
Close my, close my, close my eyes
But I couldn't find a way
So I'll settle for one day to believe in you
Tell me, tell me, tell me lies
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
Tell me lies
Tell me, tell me lies
Oh no-no, you can't disguise
You can't disguise
No, you can't disguise
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
Although I'm not making plans
I hope that you'll understand there's a reason why
Close your, close your, close your eyes
No more broken hearts
We're better off apart, let's give it a try
Tell me, tell me, tell me lies
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
Tell me lies
Tell me, tell me lies
Oh no-no, you can't disguise
You can't disguise
No, you can't disguise
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
If I could turn the page
In time then I'd rearrange just a day or two
Close my, close my, close my eyes
But I couldn't find a way
So I'll settle for one day to believe in you
Tell me, tell me, tell me lies
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
Tell me lies
Tell me, tell me lies
Oh no-no, you can't disguise

No, you can't disguise
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies

Oh no-no, you can't disguise
You can't disguise
No, you can't disguise
Songwriter:
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies
Tell me, tell me lies
Eddy Quintela Mendonca / Christine Mcvie
SongFacts:
"Little Lies" is a song by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac from their 14th studio album, Tango in the Night (1987). It was written by band member Christine McVie and her then-husband, Eddy Quintela, with lead vocals performed primarily by McVie, although the chorus features backing vocals by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. The song was released in August 1987 by Warner Bros. Records, as the third single from Tango in the Night.
On its release, the single reached number one for four weeks on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1987. To date, it is their most recent top-ten hit in the United States. The single also reached number five on the UK Singles Chart. "Little Lies" continues to be played on radio stations as a classic hit of the late 1980s, along with "Everywhere" and "Seven Wonders", both of which are from Tango in the Night. "Little Lies" was also accompanied by a music video, filmed on a farm, in and around its rustic buildings and fields.
The single was also available on the 12" single format, featuring an extended dance version, a dub version and its B-side, "Ricky", a non-album track penned by McVie and Buckingham. A limited 12" picture disc was also released in the United Kingdom, and it was the first Fleetwood Mac single to be issued on the cassette single format.
Cash Box said that "McVie's songwriting ability combined with Lindsey Buckingham's production assistance provide a extremely likeable hit-to-be."

On this date in real music history….
August 31st
2006 - Ozzy Osbourne
The Times ran a story on the demands of rock stars when on tour. Ozzy Osbourne insists on an eye, ear, nose and throat doctor at each venue. The Beach Boys require a licensed masseur, Meat Loaf a mask and one small tank of oxygen. David Bowie requests that the dressing room temperature is between 14c and 18c and Paul McCartney must have a large arrangement of white Casablanca lilies in his dressing room. Mick Jagger must have an onstage autocue with the lyrics to all the songs, it would also tell him the name of the city in which they were performing.
2003 - Elton John
Elton John went to No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Are You Ready For Love.' The song was recorded in 1977 and released in 1979, when it reached No.42. It was used by Sky TV for their Premiership football ads.
1987 - Fleetwood Mac
Fleetwood Mac released 'Little Lies' from their fourteenth studio album Tango in the Night. Written by band member Christine McVie and her then-husband, Eddy Quintela, the single reached No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No.5 in the UK. It became the band's last top-ten hit in the US.
1985 - Dire Straits
Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits started a nine-week run at No.1 on the US album charts. The album also topped the charts in 25 other countries and went on to sell over 20 million worldwide.
1985 - Chrissie Hynde
UB40 with guest vocals from Chrissie Hynde had the UK No.1 single with their version of the Sonny Bono song 'I Got You Babe' a hit for Sonny & Cher in 1965.
1974 - Traffic
Traffic made their last live performance at the annual UK Reading Festival. Other acts appearing included; Alex Harvey, 10cc, Focus, Steve Harley and Procol Harum. £5.50 for a weekend ticket.
1971 - Brian Jones
The Rolling Stones plus the father of Brian Jones filed a high court writ against ex managers Oldham and Easton. Claiming they made a secret deal with Decca Records in 1963 to deprive the group of royalties.
1968 - The Rolling Stones
Decca Records released what has been called The Rolling Stones most political song, 'Street Fighting Man', written after Mick Jagger attended a March 1968 anti-war rally at London's US embassy, during which mounted police attempted to control a crowd of 25,000. The single was kept out of the US Top 40 (reaching No.48) because many radio stations refused to play it based on what were perceived as subversive lyrics.
1963 - The Ronettes
The Ronettes first entered the US singles chart with 'Be My Baby' the girl group's only top 10 hit. Lead singer, Veronica Bennett who became Ronnie Spector, took producer and ex-husband Phil Spector to court in the late 1990s for unpaid royalties.

Little Lies - Fleetwood Mac
“Lies,” is a single from Fleetwood Mac’s 1987 album, Tango In the Night. This is easily one of their top five best songs for me. The way all the instruments blend together seamlessly, the delicate vocal harmony of Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks, and of course the brilliant songwriting duo of McVie and her husband at the time, Eddy Quintela. To me, the song is about realizing that the person you thought you loved is not who they thought they were, seeing the truth behind their lies so they can no longer fool you, and settling for the imagined version of who they will never be as you let them go. Or it is about someone who is continuously falling for someone who keeps lying to them and just telling them what they want to hear. Even though they know it is all a lie, they will stay, holding on to the hope that one day things will change. In whatever context it relates to you, it’s hard to deny the catchiness of the song as well as just how well all the elements of the tune come together!

This is my Young Justice fan casting that I wanted to release as part of the Arrowverse. There could be a TimKon fic that includes all of these actors as visuals--I’d be thrilled to see them as such.  I imagine this set in some sort of amalgamation of all three major DC universes: New Earth post-Crisis, New 52, and Rebirth, as Arrowverse already is.  They’d be older like the new comics of course, too, mostly established unlike Titans on DC Universe (which is where I’d prefer this save for some inhibitors).  My personal favorable casting choices are for Batman, Orphan, and Lynx, and I love the picks for Red Hood, Superboy, and most of all Red Robin.  How did I not put Ian Nelson together as Superboy already (what with Hoechlin officially being Superman and the Derek Hale connection)?  He’s got the looks, the body, and damn that smile.  And Keidrich--the brainy Henry Jennings in The Americans--ugh as soon as it hit me I was done.  Those two inspired this casting creation.
*Edit: Added Damian and Jon for the hell of it (have pretty much the rest of the Bat and Super family).

Eddy Quintela, Christine McVie's second husband and co-writer on a number Christine's songs passed away on Friday in Estoril, Portugal. Song writer, keyboardist and composer of Portuguese origin, Eddy Quintela was also the second husband of Christine McVie, a fundamental element in the formation of Fleetwood Mac. For the North American band, Quintela composed with McVie numerous songs between the years 1987 and 1997 Among them is the hit, "Little Lies" from the album Tango in the Night, published in 1987. The hit helped this LP to become the second best seller in the entire Fleetwood Mac career. They divorced in 2003 but continued to collaborate on Christine McVie's solo album published the following year. One of Eddy Quintela's themes for the American band, "Nights in Estoril", alludes to the time spent by the couple in Portugal, where the musician established several connections, namely in the Cascais line, with Marita Leon (with whom he maintained a musical project in the 1990s) and Fernando Cunha dos Delfins. The song would be published on Fleetwood Mac's Time album, which came out in 1995. In an interview with the British newspaper Guardian, McVie would say however "he was not happy in love". Eduardo Quintela de Mendonça, of his full name, will also have collaborated with Adelaide Ferreira, at the time of "Baby Suicida" and Portuguese rock. In a post on his Facebook page, Manuel Falcão, founder of BLITZ, says he met Eddy Quintela through a mutual friend, Pedro Baltazar. "He lived a large part of his life in the United States and Great Britain and returned to Portugal some twenty years ago. He was a creative man, he was engaged in a musical project that he loved, a rock opera about John Kennedy, which he left almost ready, now that left". Rest In Peace Eddy #fleetwoodmac #christinemcvie https://www.instagram.com/p/CGdLgUXsVxB/?igshid=12r0twl35aujc

As Long as You Follow
October 22nd
Today we have another wonderful voice to savor, as we go from silky-smooth to whiskey-smooth.  After 1975’s Fleetwood Mac and 1977’s Rumours, I’d pretty much lost interest in Fleetwood Mac.  Their albums after that didn’t really do anything for me.  How could you top those two, anyway, right?  In 1988, the band release Greatest Hits, a compilation of songs from 1975-1988.
What Greatest Hits did was remind me how much I appreciated Christine McVie’s contributions to the band.  The album contained some of her songs I’d overlooked while paying no attention to Fleetwood Mac, including “Hold Me”, “Everywhere”, and “Little Lies”.  The album also included two new songs, one of which was the Christine McVie tune (co-written by Eddy Quintela) “As Long as You Follow”.  The band at the time did not include Lindsey Buckingham, as he had been replaced by two other guitarists.
“As Long as You Follow” is a soft rock love song, the kind Fleetwood Mac could do so well, especially when sung by Christine McVie.  It’s about finding one’s way back to a person after you’ve wandered and “gone away too far”.
And the sun went down
Never seemed to rise
Ah, but now you’re here
With the light shining in your eyes
Christine McVie’s voice, the background vocals, and the accompanying music give the song a dream-like quality which allows you to float right through the song.  Mick Fleetwood’s drums and John McVie’s bass are softer than the usual pulsing power they usually project, but they are still impactful.  Rick Vito’s guitar perfectly suits the feel of the song.  “As Long as You Follow” is a wonderful platform for the display of Christine McVie’s leathery smooth voice.  We’ll end with my favorite lines (they get me every time).
Yes, I can live today
If you give me tomorrow

Famous Muses & Groupies in Rock Music Pt. 24
GROUPIE: Christine McVie (born Christine Anne Perfect)
Again…not trying to downplay Chris’ success by putting her in the groupie set, but I felt like it would’ve been misleading putting her with the muses because she was the one writing songs for her boyfriends, lol. Christine was born on July 12th, 1943 in Bouth, England to Cyril and Beatrice Perfect—a violinist/music professor and a medium. She grew up around Birmingham and first learned to play piano when she was 4 years old. Christine would play on and off throughout her childhood, first with classical music, until she was 15 and discovered rock & roll with Fats Domino and the Everly Brothers. While she was studying at art school, Christine casually dated schoolmate Spencer Davis (later of the Spencer Davis Group), when she was performing with a local band called Sounds of Blue. After graduating college, Chris worked as a department store employee until two of her Sounds of Blue bandmates invited her to join their new band Chicken Shack in 1967. This begins Chris’ longevity as a vocalist, keyboardist and songwriter. Her run with Chicken Shack was short-lived and ended in 1969, but the stint did give her a ton of exposure and lead to her first solo album: ‘Christine Perfect’ in 1970. Her cover of ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ was a hit for both Chicken Shack as well as on the solo LP. In ’69 and ’70 she won Best Female Vocalist at the Melody Maker Awards.
Most importantly, Christine’s period with CS led to her being introduced to the blues-rock band Fleetwood Mac. The two bands often played the same clubs and venues, following with Christine and FM bassist John McVie usually getting a drink and chatting after shows. John wouldn’t legitimately ask out Chris until half a year later and by that point both of them were engaged to other people. But they were so into each other, they dropped their fiancés instantly and married within 2 weeks in 1968. Crazy kids. Supposedly Chris was ‘relieved’ to get a normal married name because she was starting to get some corny puns with her birthname. Christine also openly described herself as a Mac fangirl before she even became friendly with them, and was stoked to join the band when they needed a new member after frontman Peter Green abandoned ship. While the scenario of making music in the same band was idyllic at first, John and Chris started feeling the strain of always being around each other at home, in the recording studio and on the road. Chris also felt an episode of paranoia before she joined the band where FM went on tour in the US, and she didn’t hear from John for a whole month.
But the biggest toll on their marriage would end up being their excess of alcohol. With Christine having stage fright with big crowds as a lead vocalist and general fear of flying, her drinking increased. John became a full-fledged alcoholic and exposed himself as a mean drunk, mostly around Chris. Things seemed to get a little better when Bob Welch quit the band in 1974 and was replaced by Californian duo Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks. Christine felt less pressure as a frontwoman and now didn’t feel like the odd one out as the only woman in the band. But the mega success of FM’s 1975 self-titled album and ‘Rumours’ (1977) brought a new level of anxiety with overexposure. In between albums Chris separated from John and rebounded with the band’s main lighting guy, Curry Grant (that name, lol) in 1976. (Though some sources say the divorce wasn’t officially finalized until 1979.) Like Stevie, Chris has written many songs about her beaus, including ‘Why,’ ‘Say You Love Me,’ ‘Over My Head’ and ‘Don’t Stop’ for John, and ‘You Make Loving Fun’ for Curry. The latter now considered her music masterpiece. Unlike Lindsey and Stevie who were constantly at each other’s throats during their break-up, John and Chris were the opposite and usually ignored each other. And unlike the younger couple in the Mac, John & Chris successfully turned their affiliation into a genuine friendship for the sake of the band.
After John and Curry, Chris’ most profiled relationship was with the hottest Beach Boy, Dennis Wilson from 1979-82. The two were very passionate, but very wild, gaining a rep for partying hard in LA and at their homes. Mick Fleetwood (who also introduced them to each other), theorized that part of the problem with the pairing was that even someone who could hold their liquor like Christine, couldn’t keep up with Dennis. Chris ended up leaving Dennis because he was too, well, wild. Dennis grew a bad habit of trashing her stuff like her kitchen or crashing her Rolls Royce all while being a huge cokehead. The 1982 FM hit single ‘Hold Me’ was written by Chris for Dennis. After they parted ways, Christine married fellow keyboardist Eddy Quintela from 1986-2003, and the two co-wrote another top 10 single for Mac: ‘Little Lies’ (1987). In between Dennis and Eddy, Chris released her second self-titled solo album ‘Christine McVie’ in 1984, featuring her only top 10 solo single—‘Got a Hold on Me.’ Amusingly, even though she sometimes uses the endearment ‘daddy’ in her love songs, most of Chris’ boyfriends were a few years younger than her.
Although she’s been married the majority of her adult life, Christine never had children, but it was on her mind occasionally. She took a year off from her music career right after she married John to be a housewife and in a 1980 TV interview revealed she was considering adopting. During a 2004 Sunday Express interview, she even said she regretted becoming childless. Aw. :/ Christine retired from Fleetwood Mac from 1998-2013, and was honored a lifetime achievement at the Ivor Novello Awards in 2014. To date, she’s composed more material for Fleetwood Mac than any other member of the group.

Today in women of classic rock history, October 10, 1995: Fleetwood Mac’s 16th studio album, Time, is released. The album was the first Fleetwood Mac album since Heroes Are Hard to Find (1974) not to include any contribution from Stevie Nicks; instead, the band welcomed new vocalist Bekka Bramlett (daughter of duo Delaney and Bonnie), along with former Traffic guitarist Dave Mason, who each sang and wrote for the album.
Like many other Fleetwood Mac albums, the first single to be released from it was a Christine McVie-penned song (also co-written by Eddy Quintela), “I Do” - it reached #62 on the Canadian singles chart.

Music History Today: November 7, 2021
November 7, 1987: "Little Lies" by Fleetwood Mac peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 single's chart. After their 1982 album Mirage, Fleetwood Mac separated and worked on solo projects. They hadn't recorded together for four years when they got together to make Tango In The Night. Christine McVie wrote this with her husband Eddy Quintela - they had just married. It's not clear whether the song is about her breakup with John McVie or her relationship with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys.
