easy company registration cards part 1

part 2

included in this compilation under the cut are the registration cards of 15 easy company veterans featured in band of brothers (2001). all are taken from publicly available draft records held in online databases and collected by me, and contain details like the registrant's serial number, physical attributes, date and place of birth, phone number, residential and mailing addresses, place of employment and nominated next of kin, as well as their handwriting sample and signature. like or reblog if you use or save.

a note about draft registration

during the second world war, the united states selective service system conducted a total of six draft registrations, the records of which are held collectively in two groupings at the national personnel records centre in st. louis, missouri. members of easy company were drafted in all but one of these registrations from october 1940 through to december 1942. the six registrations are as follows:

16 october 1940: males aged 21 to 35 "within the continental united states". winters, nixon, welsh, toye, perconte and liebgott were among those registered on this date.

1 july 1941: males "who had reached 21 since the first registration". lipton and speirs were registered on this date.

16 february 1942: between the ages of 20 and 45 "who had not previously registered". roe, bull, malarkey and luz, among others, were registered on this date.

27 april 1942: between the ages of 46 to 65 "not eligible for military service". no known easy company members were registered on this date.

30 june 1942: between the ages of 18 to 20. talbert, webster, grant, guarnere, babe, shifty, skip and christenson, among others, were registered on this date.

10-31 december 1942: "those who reached the age of 18 after 12 november 1942". penkala, who turned 18 in august 1942 three months before the cutoff, was nonetheless among those registered in this period.

if you have a family member or ancestor who served in a branch of the us armed forces during either the first or second world war, chances are that you can find their registration card on databases like ancestry.com and familysearch.org.

big informational post on israel & palestine

before i start, i want to say that the end goal is not defeating one side or the other. we want peace, for both nations to exist together. there are innocent and good people in both israel and palestine. here is a thread with basic information on the conflict.

trigger warning: mentions of amputations, chemical weapons, burning, general death and blood.

right now, there is a genocide happening in palestine. israel is using banned weapons that may not seem illegal to use, but are being used to kill innocent people who had no intention of joining nor fueling the war. this is a war crime.

DIME (Dense Inert Metal Explosive) are explosives made to release shrapnel that amputates the skin. this leads to limb loss & bleeding out. even after the limbs are amputated, victims have a high chance of dying from cancer as DIMEs were found to have carcinogenic tungsten.

White phosphorus bombs. I cannot explain in words how horrifyingly inhumane these are. White phosphorus can be released indoors as smoke, and contaminate water. They cause 4th & 5th degree burns, indefinitely burning as they go up to 1499 degrees Fahrenheit (815 degrees celcius) and the human body can only handle up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees celcius). White phosphorus is also highly flammable, and can be reignited during treatment. here is a thread with more information.

Armor piercing bombs. As implied by the name, they can penetrate metal and travel long distances. Armor piercing bombs are designed to pierce through bunkers, warships, and heavily enforced targets. They can easily destroy buildings and famously sunk the USS Arizona in 1941.

I know this is completely out of the blue but, I just want to let y'all know that the owner behind this account stands with Palestine & supports Palestinian liberation. What is currently happening in Gaza is truly a tragedy and, it is heartbreaking seeing numerous photos and videos of civilians mourning the lost of friends and family.

What's even more heartbreaking is seeing Zionist justify the attacks and defending IDF soldiers who are literally killing and terrorizing innocents. There is no excusing genocide; what Palestinians are going through is an active ethnic cleansing.

What is happening in the north is reminding me of how privileged I am. I can eat, sleep, play games, and carry on about my day without having to worry about bombs and, if I'm going to live to see the next day or not. The innocents in Gaza deserve to enjoy their life. They deserve to do the same things I do without having to worry about the constant air strikes, white phosphorus, and the sound of gunshots that ring their ears. The people of Gaza deserve to sleep comfortably in their beds at night with full bellies. The children deserve to attend school regularly and, play with their friends.

But instead, they're taking shelter inside tents, schools, and hospitals with minimum food, water, and severe injuries. Nobody shouldn't have to be subjected to this kind of torture. What isreal is doing to Gaza should count as a war crime.

SHAME ON ISREAL, AND SHAME ON THE US GOVERNMENT AND JOE BIDEN SPECIFICALLY FOR SENDING BILLIONS TO THEM JUST SO THEY CAN CARRY OUT GENOCIDE AND CONTINUE MASSACRING INNOCENT PALESTINIANS.

For those reading this please continue to boycott companies and corporates that both supports and funds Israel. Continue educating yourself and speaking out about what's happening.

Ignore and don't fall for the propaganda isreal and zionist continue to use. Ignore the notion that being pro-palestine automatically makes you "anti semitic". It doesn't, it makes you pro-human rights. Also if you're pro isreal or "neutral" on what's happening, then you're on the wrong side of history. You cannot be neutral on genocide and human rights. There is NO neutral stance here.

Hikaru Changes Management Agency

As of October 31, Hikaru will no longer be managed by her agency Hifumi Co., Ltd.

Her contract with them expired and either she herself or the management team felt like it wasn’t viable to extend it. Hikaru’s artist management as well as the management of her fan club will seamlessly transition to a new agency called Okuruto Noboru Co., Ltd., meaning that there will be no noticeable changes for us fans.

There’s not much that can be found about this agency. As far as I can tell, the company is not your typical agency, instead, it is a pretty tiny animation studio which apparently also has a department for artist management of some sort. I wonder if Hikaru’s current manager will join her at the new agency? They have become pretty close in recent months. I guess this will mark the end of her collaborations with Gushimiyagi which could potentially be a good thing. I really wonder how that agency change will affect her future activities...? For the past few years I have been pretty vocal about how I am not the biggest fan of Hifumi’s management since I don’t feel like they have ever done anything substantial to push her ahead. But I have no idea if her tiny new agency can do any better...*sighs* Guess we’ll have to wait and see...

In other news, Hikaru will hold a special live broadcast version of her fan club exclusive radio program “HikaruとRadiocation“ on November 7. If you haven’t yet, this is your opportunity to join the fan club! Hikaru’s official fan club is called “まさにひかる/Masani Hikaru” (Exactly like Hikaru). Most of you should have already registered for free with a FAM ID. It is fairly easy to set up an account. You can register with your email or an already existing SNS account. After verifying the link you can create your FAM ID (I just used my name as FAM ID). They are asking for an address, I used my Japanese Tenso address just to be on the safe side but I think it should be possible to use an overseas address as well. Now all you need to do is provide your payment information (credit cards are accepted) on “My Page” and settle the annual membership fee (5,500円).

I think I spoke too soon regarding “no noticeable changes for fans”. They did just release a statement regarding Hikaru’s fan club. It seems like they are planning a “renewal” (whatever that means). A new monthly membership plan is going to be introduced on November 1 alongside the already existing annual membership plan. A special present will be sent to all members with an annual plan as well as to everyone who joins the fan club on a monthly plan from November 1-30. [I wonder what will happen if you didn’t enter a Japanese address upon registration...? I am pretty sure they won’t be sending presents overseas...]

Please note that this will result in a double-registration. ※If you change from an annual membership to a monthly membership, your current membership number and previous records cannot be carried over.
