1. Kalgi or Safa
A kalgi complements the beauty of a pagdi or safa. This bejewelled piece resembles a brooch, but it is worn on the Safa. You can also get ones with feathers. Many people prefer pearl or metal kalgis with sub ornate stone kalgis.
2. Dupatta
It's a long scarf with tassels at the ends. This piece is typically worn with a sherwani. A contrasting dupatta is dressed with the sherwani to complete the appearance. The dupatta, an essential part of a sherwani, can be draped around your neck or worn on the shoulder of one arm, heading right around your waist and then rolled up around the other hand. You could also carry a dupatta in the same colour as your bride's gown to complete the picture-perfect look!
3. Haar
The haar, or neckpiece, has both traditional and fashion significance for so many Indian grooms. You can wear a single string of large pearls with a semi-precious stone pendant, or you can go for the layered pearl look. Three to five strings of small stones with fashioned pendants or brooches would make up a layered necklace. To match your outfit, consider necklaces created of beads and coloured pearls.
4. Jutti and Shoes
Sherwani is a popular wedding attire in India because it enhances the appearance of Indian men. A traditional jutti or mojari paired with a stunning rich sherwani completes the groom-to-look be's and therefore can make your wife fall head over heels in love with you.

Guide to 90's-2000's desi aesthetic
If you want to be more like Aishwarya Rai from Dil ka Rishta or Amrita Rao from Vivah, this guide is for you.
Clothes
1. Go for fitted traditional dresses be it kurta, suit or even long dresses. They should be tailored to your sizes. Choose fabrics like chiffon and georgette.
2. Choose pastel colors or bright colors. Never dull colors.
3. Make it as simple as possible. If you are opting for a kurta set, your duppata should be plain, the kurti can be plain or some simple embroidery or chikankari or some other work can also go. The bottom again should be plain devoid of any work. Make sure you are wearing the same color top to bottom.
Makeup
Simplicity is the key for this aesthetic. Don't overdo anything. Keep your makeup as natural as possible.
Apply foundation and concealer to hide any acne or pigmentation. Nothing else.
Wear nude lipstick and add lipgloss to it.
Same with eyes. Nude eyeshadow or avoid it if you want to. Finish with eyeliner.
Hair
If you have straight hair, this aesthetic works for you. I, personally think, straight hair gives very polished, neat look and this is why the aesthetic works.
Don't worry if you have wavy or curly hair. To achieve that put together look, you can tie up your hair in braids or in a bun or ponytail. If you want to leave it open, what I do is, I frame my hair to my face and then tuck the rest of the hair behind. it works for me cause I have bangs so they stay on the front, rest of the hair behind. Otherwise you could always straighten your hair.
Jwellery
Again, simplicity is the key. Wear a small bindi matching your clothes or you can even wear that shiny one.
Either wear earrings or a necklace set. I mostly prefer earrings but if you want to wear both, make sure they are the small dainty ones.
You can also wear simple set of chudis in both hands matching the color of your clothes.
Mannerism
This is the most important in my eyes. You can look like Aishwarya Rai from Dil ka Rishta but the way you handle the look is the most important.
Ever wondered why Laxman was suddenly interested in Sanju in Mai Hoon Na? It wasn't just her wearing indian that did it neither it was the straightened hair.
She looked put together, more feminine after her makeover. She leaned into her feminine energy.
Be elegant, graceful, expressive. Smile more. Talk softly. Walk properly. Own your outfit with confidence.
Imagine you are Shantipriya yourself from Om Shanti Om, I don't care. Even the lookalike of Shanti had to learn her mannerism. You can do it do.
At the end I would say experiment. I would suggest at first, get your clothes tailored. Make your outfit. See what works and what doesn't. If you are shy about your arms get sleeves. If you are slender and have hourglass figure, go for long bodycon dresses and pair it with duppatta. Research and see what type of necklines, back, straps, etc works for you.

Desi Delicacies
TW: SH and suicidal ideation
So growing up in a Indian has for the most part been a struggle. But now I have created a safer space for myself I feel much more at peace. Being a desi queer, there are certain delicacies I fill my life with.
I have been struggling with suicidal ideation and self harm for the longest time. And while I still do I am much more than that. I am much more than my struggles. I am that unniyappam Amma makes on perunal days or that payasam on your birthday. (both are a type of dessert made on special occasions)
To say I love our culture is an understatement. I am emotionally and mentally married to it. And I love incorporating it into ways I love myself in. Listening to Charulata in veena by Sudeep Palanad while writing this lol. Here are some things I have done:
I have self harm scars on my upper thigh. And I re-own my own body by drawing over it with mehandi. When blade/knife/ whatever metal I have used to cut touched my skin it felt cold. Mehandi also feels slightly cold over my skin but in a very soothing way.
Bharatanatyam or dancing is also one of my stress reliefs. It can be a very intimate way to work with and explore your body and mind. When I dance my go to mantra is "Dancing is powerful. Dancing is queer." It then becomes extremely euphoric for me. In every sense of the word.
Listening to classical/ semi Indian music. In my opinion desi music is extremely rich sophisticated as well as simple and comforting all at once. It has the smell of your Amma's duppatta.
Going to the temple. While I am not religious myself. The temple is a place of peace and comfort for me. There is this feeling that its going to be okay. Masala dosa and filter coffee after it is a must. Hehe.
These are things that have worked for me. It may or may not work for you. If you do try any of these out I would love to know. And if you have some other desi delicacies you want to add do share.
Remember that you are special and you are loved. And you deserve to be loved. You deserve nice things. You deserve desi delicacies.
